Long live /pcbg/!Post your /pcbg/ anyway but know that we have enraged the amdshitposter to the degree that he has vowed to shit up this thread with trash with the goal of killing it.remain vigilant, /pcbg/, report in silence, and above all - have fun.Spotting the shitposters: the shitposters may be working at gunpoint in a bot farm, paid shill/bot farm, lone schizo, etc. the shitposters rarely ever just tags the OP and asks for it to be updated or changed as asked for in the second part of the sticky. they also resort to things like ad hominem, racism, cherry picked benchmarks, false information, etc. and one of my favorite things is the lone post tagging no one but responding to some previous reply to whatever argument it felt it was losing or with a one-liner just to flood the vapid minds of the unwashed masses with <specific vendors products>. the shitposters necropost old tropes to flood the threads and bump post counts e.g. random garbage questions that any /noob/ would just google or disingenuous descriptions of problems that are copypasta with a few words changed in them. Single line, low-quality posts are often the copypasta. Most recently the OP appears to be trying a super stealth approach - creating the OP with only "subtle" alterations like "-Avoid Nvidia Due To Possible Melting Connectors & Driver Problems", griefing /g/ by creating and self deleting the thread after a short while, deleting the OP img, shilling native vs upscaling, etc.

The drive pays for itself after 3 months of non-failure.
>>108176457>24.99 a month for 5 tbJeeesus fucking Christ. No wonder they want to make everything a subscription.
>>108176388it's never enough for a modern company to make a solid product, price it at a price that makes them competitive and still nets them a good profit. All companies need infinite growth at massive margins or the company is shit.>>108176405it will always be cheaper up front but it really depends on how much storage you need. 1TB of cloud storage is usually around $100 a year. a 26TB HDD is $450-ish. So 4.5 years, you'll have the cost of a single 26TB HDD. However you control absolutely nothing about the backup. You're at the whim of whatever cloud service you choose and praying their shit is always on point. If something fucks up and they lose or corrupt your data, there is no recourse. And this is just for 1TB. Larger solutions like 10TB for instance cost in the neighborhood of $60+ per month. Nothing wrong with cloud storage for cheap offsite of stuff that's small but important to you. I keep an AES-256 bit encrpyted container in a 15GB Google Drive folder (free) that contains family photos and the like. Stuff that if my entire house burnt down, I can never get back but using cloud storage regularly gets wildly expensive.>>108176439>lifecycle is shortWho says that has to be the case? Going from the RTX 5090 to the RTX 6090 to get access to DLSS 4.7.2 to get another 15 blurry fps (+60 unplayable fps with frame gen 1.8!!) means fuck all. >>108176511Just decide if you want to spend another $1600 for a 5080 or double that for a 5090
>>108176467when cloud storage as your primary storage becomes normalized, I would bet every single thing I hold dear in this world that prices for every cloud service would sky rocket. All cloud service providers would work within an ologopoly. On top of that you'd be paying for the privilege of also having all governements/agencies free access to all your data at all times.
>>108176527friend of mine will help me in getting an RTX 5080 FE for $1000. I'll give him $100 for helping me out, so $1100 for a new FE 5080. He unfortunately can't get his hands on a 5090 for MSRP otherwise I'd get it.
>>108176023Honestly feels good to see yet another Taiwanese company bend the knee.People dont realize how much they stagnated monitors. Once the Koreans actually started paying attention you suddenly got IPS and VA monitors that weren't complete garbage for motion (LG ultragear and samshit g9). Now you have OLED which has completely fucked the pricing for high end monitors. (Used to pay almost 3k for a 4k 120hz screen)China has now taken over LCDs almost completely and have never been at more rock bottom pricing.
OLEDs have a cult following. Or paid shills. I can't tell.

>>108176547demand. The norm used to be hardware with no RGB or LED cancer and you paid extra for it. Then everyone started wanting it so the companies responded with every product now offering RGB or shit of some kind. It's not just lights, it's design too. Overly complicated cooler designs, motherboard heatsinks, GPU coolers, fan designs, etc. Don't even get me started on the extra money spent on boxes to make them feel "premium". I would happily get a product with>plain grey/black rectangular shroud on GPU>plain heatsinks on motherboards>No RGB or dumb shit edgy design>PCB color can be hot pink or shit brown, idc, so long as the performance is top priority>box is a plain brown box with the companies name and/or logoetc if it meant the hardware was cheaper by a signifigant amount. For reference, I have actual legit server hardware that meets this exact description. My server motherboard is considered "budget" and cost me $330 new.

With how the game codes work these days, do you need the exact product you bought to redeem it or do you just need a qualifying product?
>>108177716if the cost is the same they're just doing it to get people to buy more. it allows more people to buy a product they otherwise can't afford, so it increases sales. if the price is more overall then it's fucking retarded
>>108177721See>>108163019
>>108177721Just a qualifying product. You download some app, put in the code, it scans your PC, then it asks to link your steam info and the game gets added to your account.
>>108177716Pretty much only big loans like mortgages will do that. I think some car loans will but my last one didn't and I heard it's dying out as most customers prefer a loan without such a restriction. They do that because that's where their profits are coming from, so they try to dissuade you from paying it off early.Amazon's store card is basically just a credit card. They're already making money from you buying from them. If you end up paying interest then that's just a bonus for them. And the issuer, which I think is Synchrony, probably get profits from the processing fees.
>>108177736Okay that's what I thought based on the wording.>>108177728It sounds like you could sell the code to someone who might have bought a qualifying AMD product before the promotion. You'll probably need to give them a small discount for it or they'll just get it from Steam if they're going to pay the same price.
>>108177745Makes sense. Good post.
>>108177745Actually let me reword that. Amazon gets the money from the bank via the credit card, so they obviously don't care. The bank is going to get your payments, since you're basically borrowing from them. But again they get money from processing fees, with the interest being the bonus if it comes to that. And then you may be incentivized to keep using the card, which makes them more profits that way. I'm sure most people end up paying interest at some point. Basically just a different business model.

>>108179444I went ahead and did some lazy math, mostly looking up the prices for the ram and the "free" nvme you get with it. Regarding their prices when they were they're cheapest last summer, plus the price of the 9850x3d and the mobo, it seemed to line up decently well. A little more expensive, but then if you add the "free" game and air duster, it's pretty close.Almost considering buying it.
>>108179472If I needed more RAM I'd already have bought it. I don't even utilize all of my fast 32gb and have 64gb new in the box just in case. 128gb is shit ton.
>>108179488That's pretty much why I haven't done it just yet. If it was 64gb, and cheaper of course, sure. While the price seems fair, I don't know what the hell I'd do with 128gb. Maybe I could just put in one stick and keep the other around in case the first breaks?
>>108177252>>5070 are double the price of the 9060XT 16GB where I live.for good reason it's double better
>>108177604Shit kids still care about x-men last x-men cartoon I remember was x-men evolution
>>108179504Na, two sticks of fast ram is the way to go. As long as you don't run out fast is what you want.
>>108179533>x-men evolutionStill the best Rogue.
>>108179540I'm kinda of on board with "unused ram is wasted ram". I'd like some head room, but unless I plan to open 300 tabs in a chromium browser, I don't think I'd ever see 128gb of ram used. Maybe I could run a VM with it.
>>108177665capcom have been giving away RE9 with shitloads of stuff, MSI monitors, ASUS crap, I think every 50 series purchase now comes with RE9 too
>>108179570LLM and AI faggotry is the only use. I don't even think 4k video editing would soak up that much.
these guts charts are so funny lol
>>108179588In which case wouldn't you want a xx90 series for that? Really finding it hard to justify all that. Could maybe just sell it for the price the ram would have cost last summer.
People that bought a 5090 for MSRP last year could sell it for double now
>>108179464What does this mean for amd? Can we use this?
Any reason I shouldn't upgrade from B650 to B850?
>>108179650what if B950 comes out later this year
>>108179320As long as China continues to also make them and undercut competitors
>>108179320>waitfags STILL haven't learnt their fucking lesson yetno anon, don't buy, just wait and enjoy your poverty rig and its poor visuals and performance, you'll get the last laugh this time! surely.
>>108179726theres still market realities that affect things differentlysamsung invested billions into qd oled manufacturing, its cheaper than woleds and yields are highmonitors dont rely on expensive components from leading edge tsmc fabseven if jews wanted to make qd oleds expensive theyd have to buy out samsung to do it, or have LG quit their monitor business
>>1081794649070 xt is more than twice as fast as b580 in raw perfomance, that means with only 2X FG 9070 XT will have more frames than b580 using 4X FG and half of them will be real unlike pootel with only a 4th.AMD still wins retarded craptel jeet
>>108179570>>108179540dumb takes. Any kind of computer usage slowly accumulates cached and useless data that sits on the ram, running out of ram makes random programs, games and apps unstable as the time-lag of clearing cached data from your ram to free up space for usage is annoying. Unless you like restarting your pc a couple of times a day when you're having a long session.
>>108179753And you think this justifies 128gb of ram because...?
>>108179753try using a better operating system
>>108174881I have the same case, but my build is gayer
>>108179863do you have a fetish for making your own life difficult
is assembling the motherboard on its own box the safest way to do it?
>>108179874Yes you place cpu and nvme in before anything elseDdr5 ram however im not sure. It takes a lot of force to get it in.
>>108179753I've never run or of RAM and I only have 32gb. Photoshop open and a bunch of tabs all day no issue. Games I saw usage go to 20ish once.
>>108179874i dunno about safest but it is the easiest
>>108179894I found DDR5 easier to put in than DDR4. Then again it depends on the make and model of the board.
>V-COLOR Manta XSky DDR5 32GB 6400MHz CL32>Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB DDR5-6000 CL36So assume for whatever reason I have these two sets of RAM. Which one would be worthy of keeping? The other would be sold. Unless they both work together, then maybe I could run them both and hope for the best.
>>108179894>It takes a lot of force to get inmaaan I'm gonna fucking snap something during assembly...
>>108179951well its more like you might not insert it fully and then the pc doesnt boot so if you have a situation where the ram doesnt want to go in you can try screw the mobo into the case first and it'll give you a solid surface to push against
>>108179919Maybe I was just unlucky but I had an absolute bitch of a time getting my DDR5 sticks into my motherboard. I could barely tell when they were in and I kept getting errors because they weren't seated right. DDR4 had such a satisfying sound and feel when putting it in.
Now I'm scared of when I build my pc.
>>108179988It's really not as scary as it seems. Just take your time and don't plug any case fans into the pump plug. Took me ages to learn to not do that.
>>108179988>>108179951The scariest part for me was attaching the heatsink, FUCK those things. I completely underestimated how much force you had to use to push it low enough to where you could begin screwing it into the motherboard, and how much the motherboard felt like it was bending or flexing as it was screwed in. I'm tempted to go with an AIO on my new build just so I don't have to relive that
>>108179950Vcolor if it can run stable just because of specs.
>>108179726But I have no reason to upgrade from my BenQ PD2700Q and AOC 24G2ZE/BK.
>>108180014Oh this would be my fourth or fifth time. But I suddenly get nervous when things just don't pop in and need a little push to get in. Hopefully the ddr5 ram isn't really that bad.Oh wait I've never done LGA before. I'm still not sure if I need to get one of those fancy brackets or not.>>108180031I don't remember installing the heatsink being so bad, but it has been a while.
>>108180031I think for sure I cracked the mb installing mine. RAM was the hardest part of assembly for me, couldn't get them to seat for the life of me. might have been me being a first timer and being worried of breaking something, so I used the velvet gloves
>>108180031It depends on the cooler. Decent ones have screws long enough to make it easy.
it's so fucking over bros....
>>108180239Oof.Try not to take it too hard. You can switch next gen.
>>108180239Pull your pants down.
>>108180035>if it can run stableAre you saying I have to test it out first?
>>108180239time to install linux to take full advantage of amd's power
>>108180264>linux
>>108180250there will be no next gen>>108180251not yet. it's still daytime here.
>>108180292>not yet. it's still daytime here.Excuses.
>>108175067Actually I spent $2000 to run benchmarks
New:>>108180347>>108180347>>108180347>>108180347
>>108179988>>108180031>>108180058The heatsink scared me but ended up going just okayBut what scares me the most now was three failed attempts at putting my GPU into my PCIeMSI has a new "locking" mechanism I didn't understand so I hope I didn't scratch my PCIE contacts for GPU or motherboard as I finally realized you need to have the slot in "locked" position for it to drop in and mountWhat a stupid fucking logic I bet I wasn't the only oneI don't think I cracked my card but after some other anon posted their ASUS "quick release" scratches I'm scared, I'm going to unmount it this weekend and take zoom in pics to make sure it's okayThat and the GPU completely blocks my SATA and I need to add one more cable... fuck
>>108180239Then why did you get it?
>>108180433because the one from xfx was too loud and i didn't want to set the fan curve on every os that i might run on this pc.
>>108180170nobody ever talks about screw-length when reviewing coolers so thats a useless qualifying statement.>>108180459my biggest gripe with AMD, aside from not supporting older gpus with FSR (i don't care that much because im a natural raster sperg and i don't like upscaling, but its still an objective negative) is that after every driver update, you have to reapply your oc, fan and frame rate target control settings, and some updates change how those settings work so you have to make a new profile.I gave up any actual OC and just stick to adjusting fan curves (turning off zero rpm mode everytime) but its still annoying. Oh well, i only deal with it every 2 months so whatever, worth it to not be a goyslave to Njudea.
>>108180358>>108180358>>10818035850% effort you tranime hmong but the rest of the class is failing.
reminder linux driver updates always guarantee better performance unlike amd windows drivers that never improve anythinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3pFLK7aIoc
>>108181117i am currently on linux and haven't even booted into windows for a long time. on my 5700xt it kept my settings but i never oc'd the card. i just disable hdcp, animations, ads, notifications and other bs. that stuff stays off during driver updates.
Instead of buying expensive fans, I could buy spare CRTs.
>>108179726hey, there was no need to call me out like that...on a related note, id love to upgrade my 2019 poverty rig (ryzen 2700, rx590) for a more up to date poverty rig.im looking at ryzen 5600 and keep the same mobo (B450 tomahawk max) and i can't decide on a good poverty GPU to go along with it. Intel Arc B580 12gb seems poverty enough, but i'd love to balance it well with the cpu. im open to any suggestions, bros.Even the suggestion to WAIT until the CPU/GPU prices are back to where they were 3 fucking months ago... Thanks for listening to my TED talk.
>>108180239what seems to be the problem
>>108181320nobody cares about your primitive gimmick tech. Nobody misses CRTs except coping boomers.

>>108182133the problem is, the goyim are waking up! Oy vey, why wont you buy Njudean gpus goy!
