This may be a bit of a stupid question, but how big of an upgrade would going from this 3050 to a 5070 be? I really don't care about ultra high end games, I just want to play ffxiv with good fps on my 3440x1440. MB is an asrock b760m-c/d4, prebuilt I got as a gift I want to upgrade.
>>
>>108766901
pretty good upgrade if you consider mfg
you get away from the vram limited scenarios for the most part

yeah, because I tried running the Dawntrail benchmark at standard laptop settings and it only hit 8k

Hey! That's mine, based baker.
>270k is hot as fuck
I need to buy and upgrade the fans. I will probably buy like 6 Noctua fans. 270k is more than the case and air cooling can handle. I would recommend a 250k if you don't need the performance or a good AIO. My 9070 XT is fine, those little fans are not silent but they do the job.

yes but it's only noticable if you zoom into pixel level and compare singular pixels, guys already mad way more comprehensive comparisons than your picture

looks like color fringing like the chroma subsampling due to you increasing the hz and needing to fit the bandwidth, dsc does not look like that

Is the g.skill ram bad? I figured it was the ASRock + AM5 chip that was the problem.
>>
>>108767104
Somewhat predicted this was the way things were heading.
We don't have the luxury of securing bulk supply on contract so of course they aren't going to pander to a market that buys their product situationally every few years.
This is why I've been predicting that consoles will come out of this relatively unscathed. Sure the prices are being bumped up a little bit to compensate as with all tech, but console manufacturers can secure supply for their parts on contract. Whereas hobbyist pc builders aren't buying on contract.
Something I wouldn't have said a few years ago: I really hope the prebuilt pc market fortifies itself as they could keep pc building alive, otherwise we're probably fucked and looking towards a future where more and more manufacturers step away from the consumer market to tailor to these bulk buyers.
Maybe Valve is onto something creating the Steam Machine and ARM compatibility. Maybe they straight up see the consumer pc market poofing soon and are trying to make sure they have a way to make sure Steam is still accessible without the ability to build a pc.
>>
>>108767799
Honestly I have a hard time believing every company in the PC building space is acting in good faith right now.
It's easy to say that there is just no supply but there has to be a no zero chance G.skill, Corsair, etc are just taking the piss right now and slurping up some extra profits.
Also I don't believe buying is "situational" maybe it was at one point but I see too many people way to emotionally invested in everything right now. Would just be another opportunity for companies just to charge more if they know people will buy regardless.

Not worth it, considering they have no warranty, use a huge amount of power (heat+noise, not talking about a piddly power bill), lack ML FG, and generally have worse tensor cores, which are being massively leveraged by new games. RTX 50 is substantially faster when using higher quality DLSS models like 4.5 M

Anyone experienced with AI? Im planning to buy the 5070 for gaming and stable diffusion. Thats about as much as I want to spend
Is it worth considering the 5060 ti 16gb or is that just for things like training and LLMs?
>>
>>108768380
16gb vram GPU minimum
24gb vram GPU recommended
Or get a m1 mac
>>
>>108768380
I would say that more VRAM is better for AI. If you want to do anything agentic, you'll need multiple blackwell pros chained together. Can't really comment on SD. Ask in one of the other generals to find out whether they recommend a 5060 ti 16 gb or a 5070 if your other priority is gaming. Obviously the 5070 is generally better for gaming

If you want to use AI then you need the most VRAM you can get. It doesn't matter if you have a faster gpu if the AI model won't fit on it due to low VRAM.

if you use displayport 1.4 you cant do higher than 1440p 240hz or 4k 120hz without dsc. using dsc can bug out nvidia gpus alt tab and it disables features like dldsr and just makes the image worse despite being "lossless".

you avoid all these issues by using hdmi 2.1 or displayport 2.1.

if anything it's not big enough it just didn't make that much of a difference and 27" 4K has far superior clarity especially for coding and art. I thought it'd be better to have 32" but seeing both side by side the 27" was just a much better picture. The size difference sounds good on paper (40% more real estate) but it just doesn't translate as way bigger in real life at least it didn't for me. If you want to go bigger than 27" you are better off skipping to a 42" TV. Or maybe that new 5K 39" display but I haven't seen that in real life.

I'm also considering running multiple pcs but for now I just have the 4090 and threadripper. Apperantly some new guy is dumping the 4090 EK blocks on ebay now for 60 dollars. Those things where like 300 with shipping new so I snapped one up immediately for my zotac. it's a shame I cant fill the additional slots I'm going to have with more GPUs unless I want to pay a gorillian dollars.

>>
>>108774262
how is it even possible to a a waitfag with buyers remorse? like do people not even have money?
the answer is, yes
because I know the truth of poverty
like everyone is a borderline neet or what? if you spend money it will never be seen again
it's literally impossible if you buy hardware and it will last you 3 years before anything better comes along
but I do get the regret if you buy a shitty platform and it's unstable and shit and unusable or something, or a bad screen, or tv
yeah that will drive you insane, but you have returns before that hopefully you realize
like holy hell just buy the shit, I would, if I could

Trying to time the all-time low price for a product purchase is stupid btw.
Buy the PC parts if it's close to the ATL price and if you really need it.

Not buying something and watching the price go up and out of reach is one thing but buying something and watching the price go down is 10x worse.

If RAM goes down I'll buy more, If memory goes down I'll buy more. It will suck for the CPU and GPU to go down but even then I still have it. If I close my eyes price drops can't hurt me.

20xx was a filler gen to get over shit rt cores and shit dlss 1,

then subsequent nvidia gens didnt improve upon it much at similar price points so it seems better relatively speaking

pulsar monitors came and went
hardly any sales hardly any content
nobody gave a shit about them at all
this is tech that basically solved all motion blur for ips panels and put them on par with like $1000+ 360Hz oleds when it comes to motion
nobody gave a shit
nobody bought them
because it wasn't oled

So I think it's safe to say that OLED won.
Not only has it won it has totally crushed any competitors. People don't buy a new monitor now unless it's an OLED one. Oled won.

I turn off everything, antialiasing etc.

Why?

Not only greater performance, for example, if you have 1080p you will not get solid frames on a 5090 if you have enough stuff turned on, but also if you are using fake frames it's even worse in terms of the actual impact on actual felt latency.

Overall, here's the thing, everything that nvidia markets is something I don't like, except for vram.

Yeah my 3080 is so awesome guys I love getting bad fps and frametime stutters trying to play games with a resolution and settings that's reasonable to expect for a card that costed 700 USD (real scalped price more like 1000 USD) at launch because njudea wanted to save 50 cents on vram. DLSS 4.5 I can't even use because it's too much for my cards shitty old tensor cores and will tank the fps (meanwhile latest fsr 4.1 with a simple 1 minute installation mod works on almost every game for all rx 6000 gpus) looks so FUCKING GOOD!!!

I am a fucking retard so learn from my mistakes.

I really wanted a new monitor. I saw this video recommended to me about using a TV as a monitor. An LG C5. Title was something like “I’m never going back” or some bullshit.

Well I always wanted an OLED because I heard my modded retro consoles would look nice. I bought one.

Genuinely, it was one of the hardest displays to look at I’ve ever laid eyes on. With all the extra bullshit turned off in gaming mode it was raping my eyes. Super contrasty. Super saturated. Text when I plugged in my laptop looked like shit. The colors in general were so off. It was bizarre.

So then I return it and order an LG uktragear IPS monitor. It looks barely, juuuuuust barely better than my decade old Benq. Also it was actually fucked up, the HDMI kept cutting out randomly. So I’m returning that one.

So now my plan is just… sticking with my existing monitor.

Anyway don’t ever think a TV can replace a monitor. That shit is a meme.

why are 4K monitors still so damn expensive
the oled 1440p is $350 now they want $800+ for 4K

Off setting costs like burn in, returns for dead pixels since 4k monitor has 8mil pixels
the 350$ monitor is a piece of shit that has brightness capped at 200 nits to reduce burn in returns and cant into real hdr. The panels themselves are cheap to produce but the yields and transport drive prices up.

If you own an RTX 4000 series card, use an HDMI cable to connect the GPU to the monitor if you need to see the boot-up sequence before the OS can load the GPU driver.
There can be handshake issues with the board BIOS when using DisplayPort connections.

Ok Asus tard here I want to get rid of some of their parts and need recommendations. I bought the glacial and while it's fine I don't really benefit from the e-ATX so I was wondering if I should switch to the MSI x870e ace max instead as other than the usb C ports it has the things I want as well. How good is the MSI bios compared to Asus? Other than that I'd be looking for
>A PSU
I run the Thor PSU and while the quality is good the display is gimmicky and unnecessary. IVS is a shitty meme
>360 AIO
I currently run a ryujin 3 extreme but connecting the USB and everything inside is ass. One reason why I wanted the glacial is the q connector LCD but shit isn't released yet and I'd have to deal with more Asus crap.
>Case
I had the Helios previously and the Helios 2 I will return cause of damage. Should have removable dust filter that can be removed preferable. Fans or fan hub controlled via the motherboard would be nice which can be self installed.

Price doesn't matter otherwise I wouldn't have gone with Asus to begin with.
