I don't know if Gigabyte's shit thermal paste has shrunk or if the card has bent under heat or what, but the contact with heatsink is gone for some of these parts, which probably makes the card freak the fuck out due to temp spikes and shut down.
If this was a cheaper card I'd just open it and replace the paste, but I really don't want to void the warranty.
I probably have to RMA the damn thing and then wait god knows how long to get it back, that's unless the store gives me green light to fix the paste myself to avoid the over month long wait.
I sometimes really hate technology.

Hi everyone, I'm really hoping someone can help me out with my RTX 5070 ti. Got it last month and I've been experiencing constant driver issues, and my screen keeps going black randomly during gameplay, along with frequent game crashes to boot. I've tried updating the drivers, reinstalling them, and even rolling back to older versions, but nothing seems to work. If anyone has faced similar problems or has any suggestions on how to fix this, I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!

they could just increase the rt core relative die area to get closer to parity between path tracing and raster perf

tsmc nodes they'll be using will have moderate sram density increase so thats better than not having any at all

>>
>>108787201
the cpu eats about 60 watts, it has retarded boost behavior that it wants to be as close to thermal limit as possible which you want to tone down by reducing pbo, possibly limiting thermals, move fan curves so it needs higher temp for higher fan speeds which will reduce noise
>>
>>108787201
That cooler + fan will be fine, I'd also undervolt it (around -10~15 CO if you can't be bothered to stress test).
How much are you getting for that 5700X3D? $300?
>>
>>108787201
I mean it's probably going to hit a thermal limit whenever it actually has to do something intensive on more than like 4 cores (which is pretty rare in video gaymes outside of shader compilation)
But it'll be fine even at stock
>>
>>108787106

The most outrageous thing about it is that their cost cutting is so incredibly micro level, that it does fuckall for the revenue, but it's one hell of a company image destroyer.
But since the suits want to look like they're doing something, they're more than happy to make pointless cuts like saving $0.01 on thermal paste, and potentially fucking up an entire product line.

Yeah, because those cheap brands are all virtually the same or better than the expensive brands. The 502 is a heavy general purpose mouse and that's why it is out of the running. Two cheaper mice, one for office work and another for games, is how you should spend your money (or you know, just one of them).
>>
>>108787380
Wukong should be fine with 8GB VRAM if you lower the settings and don't use upscaling. It will still run like shit because that's how it is, but you should be getting a somewhat consistent 40 FPS.
Indiana Jones is pretty much impossible to play with just 8GB. Yeah, you can run the intro at 1080p minimum settings with some extra engine tweaks and finish some levels, but IIRC there is one level that flatout needs around 10GB VRAM no matter how you cut it.

These are the top 4 reasons for GPU issues.
Drivers and Software is your last check

LGA 1700 socket mainboard with a 12900k currently. Probably not much point in trying to upgrade this, should move to some AMD socket instead?

I got a 14900kS, had all the latest BIOS updates (this was at the end of last year, so every muh microcode was supposedly fixed) and that thing died in 2 months - PC literally unusable with it. After that experience I feel like I am done with intel anyway desu
>>
Maybe not the best place to ask but is there any way to limit how much cache the CPU uses? Basically I want to know if a specific piece of software (that's not public and I can't share) would perform the same on the non-X3D variant of my CPU.
>>
>>108788198
>2 months
Probably not from the main degradation issue if you had the microcode.
Regardless why not just rma it and have them send you another?
If you're already on lga 1700 there's not too much of a reason for a new platform, at least not before new sockets.
>>
>>108788216
The thing is also that it was absolutely impossible to cool now that I remember. I have a standard 360 AIO but that thing always went straight towards thermal throttling.
I remember discussing with someone that the 360 AIOs still have some significant differences between each other in what cooling performance they have - and claiming that the one I have was probably too weak for that and I should have gotten a 480mm instead.

But idk, feels like such a fucking struggle to cool that chip line, not sure if thats just normal these days but it feels fucking dumb that I have to think about shit like liquid metal, fucking custom mounting plates because of some uneven motherboard socket pressure issues or whatever and 480 AIOs with however many chasis fans
>>

>DGF SuperCompression further compresses the DGF data to reduce storage costs by up to 30%. The technology also works on non-DGF hardware, so while older RDNA GPUs such as RDNA 4 and prior generations support DGF supercompression with up to 30% reduction in storage sizes, future GPUs such as RDNA 5 will offer fuller support

It means old GPU's only get the lower vram footprint without any performance improvement on raster and raytracing scenes anon.

I'm gonna go to microcenter and watch some lets play of Stalker 2 on youtube on a OLED monitor to see if it justifies buying the shittiest cheapest $370 OLED monitor I found on amazon.
Like, I suppose I could record my own gameplay forcing the game to render at 2K, put it on a flash drive with a portable install of VLC and look at it that way but that seems excessive.
Someone's youtube video has to be sufficient to gauge how much better contrast is in dark scenes (my primary motivator here) right? I'm kinda horny for the idea of DOOM 3 with a monitor that can fucking draw BLACKS too

Intel ME wouldn't update when bios flashing. My board keeps thinking it's 1.00000 whatever from way back when.

Bios flashing to the builds post 270k please (April and may) didn't work to fix it, so I'm quite literally flashing my Bios with every monthly update on it since its release. If this fails, I'm done

>The root cause of this plunge is consumer TLC products (USBs, memory cards, and general SSD)
>On the other hand, the long-term contract market has a completely different atmosphere. As of March 31, MLC contract prices had skyrocketed by up to 50% and SLC by more than 20% compared to the previous month.
>The key cause of this price polarization is changes in supply-side structure. Major manufacturers (Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Micron, and Kioxia) have developed new technologies for AI servers HBM While mobilizing all capabilities in the production of high-lamination 3D NAND with more than 200 layers, the production of legacy (mature node) processes such as MLC and SLC was significantly reduced. In particular, Samsung Electronics' complete exit from the MLC market (final shipment ended in June 2026) dealt a decisive blow to its supply chain. Accordingly, global MLC production capacity is expected to plummet by 41.7% this year compared to the previous year.
>During the second quarter of 2026, the overall NAND contract price is expected to rise by an additional 70 to 75%.

This isn't good news lol. They are going to stop making products for the poors entirely and only sell to industry.
>>
>>108789741
Its a bit of a problem when the industry customer has trillions to work with and wants desperately to win at capitalism so they're willing to spend all the money on hardware

>>
>>108789741
that's bullshit, samsung is actually making more money from dram than from hbm4, they just throw the hbm narrative out there to justify raising the prices and force people to eat it up
the demand destruction will force the prices back down and the chinese supply will send them to record lows by the end of the year and then everyone will see the hbm narrative was a lie

I actually don't care about upgrading once I get my 5800x3d + 9070xt, not only for the reason that I'm older now and barely play games but also because the AI stuff is going to radically change the PCs that buying anything new now I feel like it'll just get outdated in less than 5 years
people keep saying how PCIe 5.0 is too slow for AI, they need 6 or 7 for agentic AI, they need quad-channel DDR6 with 600 GB/s memory speeds, etc etc
there's also the fact that once the lithography hits 1.4nm it'll slow down the progress to a crawl and move on 0.1 steps or smth like that

More of an AM5 gimmick due to the change in how the chips boost clocks. The AM4 x3d chips run hot though because the v cache sits on top of the die like a nice little warm blanket.

More that AMD's IHSs are fucking awful.
You can delid them and get the temps like 15C lower.
>>
>>108792847
No, that is something all chips benefit from because you are inherently removing a layer between the die and heatspreader. AM5 is tuned to boost as aggressively as it can until you slam into either the power limit or tjmax - given the power limit is in the 200w territory nearly every chip hits tjmax (95c) first. This is why retarded reviewers where scratching their heads when the faster 7000 chips launched and were hitting 95c on 360 AIOs because they didn't listen to the technical information AMD put out for launch. The more cooling you have the more clocks you get unless there is a massive disparity between the chip and cooling solution (say 7500f and a 360 aio as the cooling is so immense the chip physically will never hit tjmax).
>>
>>108792706
>The AM4 x3d chips run hot though because the v cache sits on top of the die like a nice little warm blanket.
Didn't the 7000x3d chips have the same layout of cache over chip?

AMD changed how their boosting worked so its more like how GPUs boost by targeting a temperature and raises/lowers power and clocks to match.

Are those sata HBA cards any good? I'm going to be upgrading when the 10800x3d or whatever they call it comes out and I severely doubt AMD is going to give me enough sata ports (given right now asrock is about the only mobo manufacturer to give even 6 ports) I will likely have to get a HBA card to add some in. It isn't like i'm too concerned about eating into lanes allocated for nvme drives as lmao sata being slow as shit these days I can afford to stick it in a pcie slot that gets fuck all bandwidth.

>>
>>108792964
>Didn't the 7000x3d chips have the same layout of cache over chip?
They do, which is why AMD used very high quality chiplets that can run at low voltage and high efficiency on those.

>>108793022
HBAs are good as long as you're getting one of those which was intended for enterprise / RAID use. You can usually flash the firmware on them if required so you get rid of the RAID functionality and they just present the drives as normal (you don't really want to use hardware RAID nowadays). On AM5 there are mobos with 6 SATA ports, I would not expect to get more than that no matter what CPUs they release in the future, since the socket is the same and I don't think any mobo manufacturer is going to go out of their way to add more SATA controller chips to the board to go beyond 6 ports.

Turn on XMP after you upgrade the CPU.
I'm not sure whether that 1600X can stably run 3200 MT/s XMP.
If you're budget-maxxing, get the Ryzen 5600 instead of the 5600X3D and spend the savings on a better video card.

it doesn't work for eSports, too low hz, needing to cap refresh thus creating more input lag and at 360fps+ motion clarity is already good
it's a literal product for nobody, casualfags want 4k and 60fps+ and oled, esporters want 500hz
not to mention all the limitations and the flickering and the dropping out of range and recovering memes and still only working on nv+windows
pulsar literally doa
also monitors are overheating and they haven't delivered the promised 48fps meme update
they came years too late and cost too much too, maybe if they cost on par with any other 1440p slop they would be more popular, like 300bux tops

ok so? You can not build a PC more than once a decade and still see what the product entails. Same with the fans on the cooler. Unless you got some crazy good deal on them or something, you can see RGB fans from a mile off because their advertisments always brags about it. Either way, Thermalright fans imo are cheap shit and are prone to rattling early. Arctic brand fans are the lowest I'd go.

Bumping this question

MOBO is a Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite

Googling seems to say both options are valid.

I'm thinking I plug the radiator fans into CPU_FAN so they adjust speed based on the cpu temp and the pump into CPU_OPT and set that to 80% speed in the bios so it runs consistent while not being so loud and preserving its longevity

This is my first PC build so I want to do it right
>>
>>108793683
>a dual socket EPYC system
They make tandem Epyc boards?
>>
>>108794220
CPU_Fan and CPU_opt are identical - as long as something is plugged into one of them the system will at least do a full post (by default 99% of motherboards will throw an error and halt if it doesn't detect a fan of some sorts unless you actively disable monitoring). Pick whichever into what slot works best for cable routing. Hell by default all case fans plugged into a motherboard respond to cpu temps (and the given fan curve the bios has set) so you can do whatever really.
>>
>>108794267
Off the top of my head EPYC only does dual socket - AMD never built quad socket support as that was an exceedingly niche setup even in the server world and for a while was something only intel supported on certain xeons. No idea what xeons do quad socket these days.
>>
>>108794439
Should I change any settings to whatever header the pump is plugged into? I've read it running at full tilt shortens its lifespan and running too slow/varying a lot is bad too
>>
>>108794456
I wouldn't worry about it honestly. Many AIO pumps ignore the PWM signal anyway and run full blast all the time (which is fine these aren't exactly high stress usage). If it does respect a fan signal then do whatever you like - 80% is reasonable assuming you don't need the upper end to keep the chip cool under high loads. Unless you have the most chinesium of models AIO pumps are reliable these days as long as they aren't trying to fight against a radiator full of cat hair and tobacco slime.
>>
>>108794500
It's a Cooler Master Elite Liquid 360, it was a freebie off Newegg with a 9800x3d. I guess I might set it to 100% and if it's too loud drop it down to 80

One last question. I'm gonna build in the lancool 217, all the case fans are plugged into a hub and the hub is connected to a sys_fan on the bottom of the motherboard. Will the case fans run at a constant speed or is it based on cpu temps?
>>
>>108793433
Or, you can just, like, you know, not plug in the rgb cables.
>>
>>108794539
Assuming a 4 pin connection all the way along sys_fan is typically controlled out of the box by cpu temps. A decent bios can let you pick the source that controls a fan but given the only source that really matters is the cpu (others typically exposed are vrm or a thermistor or some such). You can of course set them to fix speeds if you wish.
>>
>>108794616
I'll just double check everything in the BIOS on first boot to make sure the case fans on sys_fan and radiator fans on cpu_fan are cpu temp based and the pump on cpu_opt is a constant.

Thanks for the help, anon

Anons, out of the loop, returning. I built my last rig when 3070 came out. So Arc B580 is just a better, cheaper equivalent to nvidia and amd, right? Is it the undisputed king? It's just 350 bucks here, man. Should I buy one? Are they gonna spike in price?
Are they even good? Just checking
Also wanted to ask, how are GPU prices/etc looking right now? Did they somehow stabilize, even with AI shit?
my 3070 still works - I use it for 1440p gaming
>>
>>108794704
You shouldn't buy arc unless you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. The cards still have wonky performance in current games if intel isn't actively providing driver support and in older titles (especially DX9 ones) it is 'here be dragons'. Research is critical.

No there are massive caveats buying arc, performance is highly variable and even just the game running isn't necessarily guaranteed. More of an "enthusiast" option and I'm like 99% sure it's slower than a 3070.

there's zero chance RDNA5 AT0 fails to beat the 4090 simply because of the node advantage.
its going to be the 7900XTX do-over with two generations newer architecture (the RDNA3 boosting bug was fixed with RDNA4), so beating a 5090 is not off the cards.
