>>7104161You're too kind. I really like that kind of early punk zine graphic style so I go a little crazy on the screentones. 10 Illustrations and 2 pages in 35 days is tough, but you should go for it man. The price you pay for not showing your work far outweighs missing an opportunity like that, I know from experience. I always thought I'd be a comic artist when I was in my 20s and my biggest regrets are thinking my art was too bad to ever show anyone and missing a lot of opportunities.>>7104182yeah, I think that the people who are really good and still come here do so because they made it a habit when they were just starting out. Preliminary inking of my initial drawing, and I'm about to go back through and put some shading and more line variation in there with ink. I feel like I fucked up with the foremost figure and should have varied my ink line a bit more or started with the thinnest pen I've got and varied the line later as I added detail. I think I can fix it or at least make it less noticeable. Eventually I'm planning to water color the inked drawing. Any advice on how to diminish the thick line on the center figures interior (coat, clothes etc.). I was thinking putting a pattern in there with some crosshatching might make the thick lines recede a bit.

any critique on this so far? i think her right hand is bigger than the left and her eyes might be kinda wonky
>>7111045face is goodbody is kind of amorphous (fridge-like)arms are too long and thinright forearm is too short, left forearm is too longright hand doesn't wrap around the wand properly and kinda looks like it's missing the wristsome of these issues can be camouflaged if you adjust the sleeves to be baggier or smth
>>7111049ty :)
>>7111045Looks good, I would flip the canvas and make the eyes on the same plane OR alternatively you could adjust the angle of the nose implying a slight head tilt
>>7111045The only thing that I think may be an issue is the bedroll on her back. It kind of looks like it doesn't connect. The left side just seems smaller. Everything else is good. I like the texture on the staff.

>>7111241Your anatomy is wackYou need to work on pretty much every fundamental, but anatomy is probably your weakest
>>7111241A lot of /beg/ artists have a knee-jerk instinct to yell "ANATOMY" whenever they feel somethings off with a piece but that's not actually the issue here.Yeah the facial proportions are off and the hands a little rough but you're not gonna fix that by learning the names of all the metacarpal bones.Moreso you just need to continue to build up your general drawing sense by studying artists you like and trying to emulate them.
Hi I know this isn't generally the place 4 anime illustrations but I've been studying japanese art for a while now and I'm pretty proud of my progression all things considered. Still I feel this visual blandness in my stuff compared to my favorite Japanese artist.I've been thinking life studies could be the answer but I feel like that's very general any input would be appreciated
>>7111344There's only so much you can do with the "anime girl in a void" template. Start playing with colour by moving away from realistic rendering. Idk if this is your work but even with a simple pinup there is composition to be coinsidered. Picrel is how I'd place the figure in the frame.
>>7111352Yeah Composition is definitely one my weakest aspects I've tooken note. Also what do you mean by realistic rendering. I just wouldn't consider is all.
>>7111353The way you choose your colours is too safe and grounded in reality. Idk which artists you like but picrel is taking concepts from reality (warm light + cool shadow, subsurface scattering in the ear etc.) and pushing them further.

>>7111045I love the lines and the texture. Great job.
>>7111367thats ai, your opinion is invalid>>7111352the composition is worse here, shes much smaller in frame and more of the white void now, unless there is a background is wouldn't read as well as having the figure take up more of the frame for a better thubmnail read. Plus now her elbow tangenting close to the frame, should've gone the other way and blew the figure up even more, making candy holding hand and the horns overlap the frame as well.

>>7109458What kind of linework are you trying to achieve? Start with that, then replicate somone who has a similar style to what you want. I noticed that your line wieght is all over the place. Make small thin lines in hair, lighter, and more fragile textures and heavy lines with shadows, limbs and heavy textures. Inking is a separate skill from sketching so just keep practicing!
hey, what do you guys think? is the anatomy okay so far? it's a sketch so i can still fix stuff before it gets too detailed and unmanageable. she's a zombie, the arms aren't there yet because theyre gonna be in a straight jacket i think

>>7113346Yes

these too
>>7111344>Glasses>Huge>That belly>The size of her butt>Mini skirt>Stockings>I'd only comment on cleaning up some shapes that could be cleaner like on the skirt (less brush strokes on top of another, could be smudged out) and makes some edges softer, especially on the skin, even if they may seem less important than her face, try to treat them with the same care, they're there to be seen so may as well put extra effort in them. Try to take advantage of materials as well, that fabric feels like what is supposed to be, that the sweater has some feeling of being made of wool, this can be done with texture brushes or just designing it a little bit more, folds can only get you so far, same with the candy and the glasses, take advantage of it and make it stand out with reflections or some transparency for the hard candy, even if your ref is telling you something is plain, try to put design on the forefront and exaggerate it (or find better ref), especially if it looks interesting or unique on its own. Also practice with different light sources, they generally carry composition as much as a good pose, for example trying that same scene in pure shadow (angled back light) in high key where ambient light does the heavy lifting, and maybe leave the foreshortened arm in light escaping the shadow, you can play with that if you want just for the sake of composition, introducing BGs would be a nice goal to have as well, even a blurry one can do a lot depending on how you use it.
>>7112816A thorough mogging, thank you sir
value study
4 pipefuls.
Finished this earlier. I wanted to experiment with shading, highlights, and colors. Also I tried to be careful with where the eye goes but I don't think I pushed the right breast enough.
Wip, but I would like some feedback specifically on how to improve the skin and hair rendering. Any other feedback acceptable too.
>>7114318https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2hm544loqcI'd suggest being more self conscious of what approach is that you want when painting/drawing, the video is just a suggestion, whichever way you lean into, try to adopt more techniques so it comes easier for you to be either painterly (like merging shapes or values, see pic rel) or more of a confident hybrid, for me drawing if it's there it must speak very clearly on a shape design level and wobbly lines play against it.Some of the anatomy seems to be either in the land of either heavily stylized like the hips and trying to be somewhere accurate but not quite like with the arms. If you're drawing a body and you're planning on framing certain area a good strategy to follow is to work and design the anatomy beyond what's in frame, so as practice you could just do an entire body doing a pose then crop it wherever later. Now that means you'll have to account for composition, but it's wip there's not much to go about other than just be mindful of whether you want that sword to take that much space on your canvas or another pose would do a better job, that depending on what's behind her, if it's just a character design with no bg then I'd change the pose for the sake of showing her whole design instead, with bgs I believe anything that moves the camera from a seemingly height level 1pp view is a good push into learning different views, it becomes pretty repetitive to rely on that view after a while and you can unconsciously start making compositions that would be much stronger if they moved away from it, a simple start is making the camera go lower or higher, it forces to think of perspective more, and being mindful of applying it to your character as well.

>>7116243You'll have to select the clothes for this but try Tone Curve. It helps you adjust the colors, and for picrel I used a slight S curve. You can also try coloring with lighting in mind, adding more highlights/rim lighting, or doing colors on top of another color besides white (like gray).

>>7104189finished this>>7104202ty, i was unsure of the whole noodle thing in a robot design but i guess it looks ok.>>7113170i dont have any practical knowledge really, plus i wouldnt say my designs are good or even make sense, they just look ok while posed like this lol. what i'd recommend if u want something that looks cool + functional is to first ask yourself: why does it exist?think about the role of your mech, if its meant to carry heavy stuff, run fast, help a human carrier, traverse difficult terrain, is it a body suit meant for a human to ride, an exoskeleton, some ancient golem, and so on, this will inform most of your decisions later on.where?as in what climate, mountains, under water, cities, space, etcwhen? is it a machine from the past, steampunk, from the future, alien technology.then id recommend is starting with a thumbnail, dont be tempted to zoom in,getting a cool looking silhouette is about the most important thing at first, experiment but also try to come up with something that looks like it could move and function.next is trying to map out a "skeleton", think of the type of joints you and how they'd need to move and pick one accordingly, this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li2qw57PqZI&t=1s goes over a bunch of types of mechanical joints. they dont have to look perfect, they just need to reflect the function of how they will move, kind of like how the hip and shoulders have a ball and socket joint that allow for a move diverse movement and how the knee is a hinge joint that only moves in 1 axis.last thing i'll say is look up reference, from designs or other artists u like, if u wanna come up with something that can fly just look at birds and study how their joints and anatomy work and apply it to your design, same goes for everything really. and this may sound contradictory but dont be afraid to push things to the nonsensical lol, just follow the rule of cool, if it looks cool then it works.

It's a good base but if you're on an experimental phase then play with some brushes for certain tasks, even for a graphic approach you want to have some brushes that are plain or simple for things you want like oils, watercolor, ink, graphite, etc.

>>7103220Well, she’s not made of latex, is she? The light reflection would probably be more diffuse on her fur, and not go all the way to white.
>>7128123>>7128228I'm not good enough to give any valid critique, but these are amazing!!
>>7127625High effort gem
man i never tried visiting /ic/ beforethis thread is to help critic and improve art yes?how to shade crash?
>>7127625>>7127652It's not political, it's esoteric, here, I added the final touchIt's a metaphor, an allegory, about our troubled mindsetsYou can make fun of me btw
>>7127625Neato
>>7127625suggest removing those identifying features from the soijak. I'm not a fan of censorship but those features will just get your image banned these days
drawing for an oil painting.
>>7128565Well firstly you have to establish where the light source is coming from. If it’s from the right, I think it would look something like this
>>7132141oh yeah that's pretty good, thanks anonhow about this, this is a character i made inspired by shit like earthbound and children comics, other than the shading, how can i make him look more professionally made cuz he looks like he was made by a kid
I am thinking about what my next project will be,and am leaning towards a tshirt design. This first rough was going for "marketable and pandering",but I want it more dwarflike. Pepe beer is a nod to 4chan,of course.
>>7132482I’m not the person to be asking about stylization honestly anon, I think someone in the beg thread would be of more help in terms of a redraw. To improve this though>improve perspective. Looks to be one point but is drawn inconsistently>add form to hair >make head a box. Very flat as of now>make eyes spherical and not just circular >make clothes wrap around bodily form >better finger anatomy More expressive pose>what is he doing? What type of table is that?
>>7132600thanks man appreciated though a couple of notes/questions>consistency? as in keep symmetry and such?>how do you add form to hair?>he is just sitting on a desk
desert rat thing guy
I like to do sketches sunday morning
>>7132682Consistency meaning that the lines all need to recede to the same vanishing point. The lines don’t seem to have one vanishing point >how do you add form to hair?Alphonso Dunn explains it better than I canhttps://youtu.be/EGuYmqTDah4?si=-_jBR1H4EBDCmeJuAlso take a look at their hair in pic rel. The shading is used to indicate form, and the hair is broken into smaller, simpler triangular shapes that work together to create one large mass. >he is just sitting on a deskOkay, where is he? What’s he doing on the desk? Is he studying? Is he drawing? Is he mad at someone? Happy? Whose desk is it? His? His friend’s? Tell more of a story. All of this should be shown in the sequences
>>7132818thanks man, ill try to follow these as much as i can
Sketch from yesterday. Pretty rough. Not sure if I'm going to do anything with it.
>>7125459I‘ve been thinking about trying this kind of brush for my lineart.. this looks really neat! Someday I‘ll finish this one <3
>>7130797Yeah I get what you mean, I was thinking about it too, idk, I'm not a political person, I don't want to get in trouble for stuff I don't particularly care about, but it's just too funnyDeadly sin of gluttony
>>7134168Deadly sin of lust WIP
>>7128798>>7134168>>7135875Wojacks and the like have been around for so long it's rare to see someone try to reinvent them like this. The sheer amount of detail put into these is commendable.
Like 2nd time ever drawing people from ref, how did I do?
>>7137534I really like the character on this piece but it can gain a lot from getting down the geometry of the shapes first and then adding the detail. I think that you could have given more character to the base though.
>>7135988Firstly I would start with better markmaking. You need to work from the shoulder and elbow rather than from the wrist. Then I would study the form and shape of the torso and do some studies with simplified shapes.
>>7135875I think I'm done>>7135979Thanks man, I love making very detailed art, but right now my hand hurts
Art block
>>7102789alright, what can make this better, its pretty messy
Put a few more hours of work into this still life.
>>7137921this is amazing
Today's rsndom eye thing.Researching centerpieces for a tshirt design. Dripping eyes around it,just like the previous project, but the main Monstrosity must be right.
I'm doodling in my sketchbook rn (i'll show later) But I should be working on my most autistic idea ever.
I tried until now to bear using digital in order to be more palatable commercially, but since apparently I can't squeeze any money out of this shit and it's going to be forever just an hobby, I'm going back on paper. I miss the feeling of the wood of my scratchbuilt light table so fucking bad
H
Should i draw today?
Sirens' Twilight
>>7142283teh process
>>7121913Love these!
>>7142283>>7142304Looks like you're having fun painting with mud. Seems quite dirty.
>>7142746I was going for a fresco look, so you're not far off in your assessment.
>>7128123what this >>7128228 guy said, but it would also help pull focus to the girls dancing, right now the bg is pulling focus away from your subjects
>>7142766Hm. Well you're certainly not as good as Michaelangelo in terms of drawing, so I think it would behoove to study his paintings more instead of painting with muddy colors. That or pick a different style, it's not working.
>>7141852let the autism flow anon, let it flow.
The new project. The design isn't really a tshirt bound one,but the start of this is a promising illustration in itself, so worth pursuing for a time at least.
did this sketch on my phone, how much do I suck?
i draw koharu from blue archive copying mogoon
>>7111045This is cute as hell don't change anything, I think the proportions of her eyes and hands look great. The right hand can be bigger anyway, because at that angle, the right hand is more in the foreground of the drawing. What kind of brushes are you using to get that watercolor effect?
>>7138987Still a wip
Wrath.
I got a bunch of free money coupons piling up, any recommendations for a drawing pad?
>>7122813Nice work bro, you got a blog?
Really rough layout drawing for something I'm working on.
Want to draw some fanart for a series but i have no Idea How to color It well
Has anyone here got close to professionalism but given up for a reason or the other? The fact that I have to go back to blue collar shit is making me die inside, I can't find any way to cope with this massive L
>>7147054beautiful
>>7138987Done
>>7147221this is hardcore asf man. cool
>>7147223Thanks pal.
>>7143673Nice forms/construction. It’s just kinda stiff
Colored in something I drew a couple years ago
>>7147221That's definitely not how I expected it finished, awesome regardless Makes me think that probably I've become too boring, so inspiring also I guess
>>7147312Nice. A lot of energy in those lines.
>>7147365No i get you. It was going in a different direction initially. But then halfway i through i rediscovered my love for keita amemiya and it bled into the drawing.
>>7147408Yeah the influence was thereI always preferred Nirasawa than him tho
It's turning into another version of what I attempted a few years ago:the gang wandering around in Eyelandthings I put on comic standard Bristol board.
>>7147221Lovely style
NEW THREAD>>7148959>>7148959>>7148959
Bump for the next installment of Eyes, sometime tomorrow morning.
