Pretty awesome job anon, I think the only thing it needs If you can push away the background from the figures by putting darker tones you would separate and highlight them even more. But solid work

honestly it's good just work on fundies in general (perspective form anatomy, her legs are a bit wonky)

Seperating the background and characters was my big hurdle for this one. I'll definitely keep that more in mind when I attempt a drawing like that again. But looking at the greyscale, it doesn't look too band imo.
>>
>>7339310
what is giving off the purple light? in cinematography a rule is to have a lamp or something in the background that is lit, but not really giving off the light just so the viewer thinks the light is coming from there. Also like the other anon said you ought to work on the contrast between the bg and your figures, you want them to read even in thumbnail form. Maybe put fog in the bg and using the pumpkin for the purple light that;s coming out of nowhere.

>how can I fix the left arm /hand?
Choose to use more reference, depending on what it is that those arms are supposed to be doing. The thing that she's doing dictates the pose that you get, and there's going to be real life reference for basically anything it is she's trying to do.

Pic related are some possible
> yeah that makes sense
Things she might be doing or going for, and if none of them work, you need to go make your own reference - go stand your phone on a desk, turn on the photo timer feature, then go take a photo of yourself doing your goal pose.

Drawing from imagination is good, but it's how you end up in jams like this if you don't have enough familiarity to say
>arms don't move like that, something's off.
Build the familiarity, THEN draw from imagination.

keep clean edges, don't feather your brushstrokes, draw with hard round brushes unless you're basically painting (you're not here), work on your cylinder and sphere perspective (the white dressed girl's arm has a weird extradimensional twist, and her boob is being blown by a high powered air cannon)...

and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, use more reference, pic related.Things end up looking funny when you try to draw something and you don't know what it looks like - you can draw from imagination if you know what it looks like, but if you don't, reference.

Good. Maybe you'll learn that if you want to do it professionally it doesn't matter how you feel, what matters is results. Stop worrying about the past that you can't change and get to work. Step into the Arena show and show everyone what you got. Go as far as you can today and tomorrow start again trying to get further that's all you can do really.

>>
>>7339831
That's not too bad for first starting out, your drawing already looks 3D so you've got potential. Best advice I can give you is the more time you spend on a drawing, the better it'll always look. Even a professional's drawing won't look that great until they're 10 hours into the drawing.
>>
>>7339855
How is that bad? The pauldrons especially look pretty well detailed on that drawing.
>>
>>7339855
Its not bad its just that the proportions suck, the head is always too small and the limbs are always too long
>>
>>7339860
I like it, the only thing that gripes me is you can still see her eye with the hair covering it. I find it alot more sexy if only one eye is showing but that's just my personal nitpick.
>>
>>7339861
>>7339865
NTA and I wouldn't say it's particularly bad but the whole thing is symbol drawing. Even with all the detail it looks entirely flat and doesn't make sense. For example, the character looks like she's walking yet both pauldrons are hunched forward (presumably because he wanted to show off how he could detail) and despite the fact the pauldrons are hunched forward, the tassels attached are facing the viewer flat, even though they should both be rotated inward slightly. There's a whole bunch of decisions here that cascade and shows anon wasn't thinking 3d when he drew it

I think it's a stylistic choice to either keep it or delete it, the ref I used had it so I left it there, might be interesting to see it without though so I will make a v2

small head and long limbs is a classic angle in art, people who draw shit with those proportions get thousand of patreonbux or are drawing professionally, what the fuck are you on about?
>>7339865
it's "pretty" for a drawing made by a 10 year old, not by an adult

Its the FINISH, the LINES, the VOLUME, it's terrible, godawful, this is 2 likes on deviantart zone, pretend this isn't /ic/ and imagine this gets posted on xitter or on pivix, how do you expect it to do?
Stop lying to this poor nigga, there are people here who just started, and their art looks as you would expect it to, there are people here who drew for a bit longer and their art looks passable, then there's this sob, he's obviously at it for a few years and his art looks as bad as any day 1 newbie, he needs to hear this shit from me because nobody else will tell him.

>>
>>7339880
>small head and long limbs is a classic angle in art
If it looks good yes, in this case, it does not. The torso and limbs are way too long and the head is squished. Which is why it looks off. Other than that he puts a lot of effort into the details which makes it look appealing but the underlying issues are still there.
Also stop crabbing just give him advice instead of saying it looks shit.

>Also stop crabbing just give him advice instead of saying it looks shit.
I told him, his finish, his lines, his volume, they're all terrible, he's not retarded, if he acknowledges the problem he will be able to fix it. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink

Why did this make so many of you angry?
I'm not even sure whose advice to take.
Some people observations are so confusing I'm not sure they're looking at my piece. Like tassels guy.

Others are critiques i don't know what to do with. Talking about me like I'm some long time poster to your discords with terms I don't get.
I'm just some dood doodling on his phone with a free app making pictures for friends.
I do like the input. Like head too small. Useful I'll keep that in mind.
I really don't want you guys mad over my crap. It really bums me out so many people started arguing over what amounts to a novice. It simply isn't necessary.

I kind of imagined the stick scythe spear thing acting as a walking stick. The character is very gentle so I pictured this delicate hold on the pole.

I'm just gonna do the Loomis Figure Drawing book despite being a total quitter begfaggot.

What's the proper way of working with an art book? Should i copy everything i see? Just do the specified exercises?

I'm on my phone with limited tools. Last time I posted with linear consistent lines I got made fun of that they looked color book.
That lines should be thicker in areas and thinner in others.
I don't really have a tool that detects pressure well but I will do another pass and try my old method to see if that better. I felt they looked scratchy too.
Thank you for confirming my fears anon.

Also I don't want to link all the posts I'm talking about and saying they're angry was projection. I have no idea what they were feeling

>Last time I posted with linear consistent lines I got made fun of that they looked color book.
>That lines should be thicker in areas and thinner in others.
It was likely that the line thickness didn't fit the subject matter and made the material seem off. Don't think on it too deeply, only that it didn't seem fitting and that more studies should be done. See how other artists have rendered the subject and try to take something from it.
>>
>>7340313
Directed towards you.

Doesn't matter if they agree on the same things or not and for all you know it could be the same person pretending to be another person.
When it comes time to critique someone, a person will just point out what is wrong with the thing without doing it in a demeaning way.

Going around saying "This is shit" "This is awful" is not critique, it's gaslighting which they will try to pass off as "critique"

what this anon said
your sort of overworking the linework. you need to work more on the overall shapes and forms. if you want to still have lots of detail, use more lineweight. all of the main and detail lines being mostly the same opacity and size leads the drawing to be really muddied
>>
>>7340356
i used the wrong youre im cooked

>>7340346

Detail in the hand? Or in this case gauntlet?

You don't need to excuse your grammar anon. I'm grwatful for the help. I've never had any formal training just a raw interest.
I don't want to be a retard and make you reiterate yourself. But I should do certain details at a different thickness and opacity?
>>
>>7340370
overlaying forms . dont want to act like im the hand god or anything but picrel i drew for the hand thread basically relies entirely on overlapping shapes. bridgman and 90s comics are really good examples of hands with form to ill put a pic of some i like after
>>
>>7340353
>But maybe you're right, maybe I should ignore angry comments. I just appreciate help is all.
That's exactly what I'm saying.

Helping someone isn't about using their problem to shit all over them, because what would be the purpose of doing so?

(I never posted on this board before so soz if this isn't the place)

I got myself a tablet and started drawing exactly 4 months ago today cos I wanted to draw characters from games/shows I like and I found out I enjoy it Immensely, especially coloring, tho I'm not sure how to actually improve lineart and improve construction/anatomy and all that, just fundamentals I guess, I don't know anyone personally that does art. I just look at how artists that inspire me draw and try to incorporate the way they draw into my own drawings I imagine in my head. I find it hard to use a reference for a pose because once I have a pose in my head, I get super autistic about it and I refuse to settle for anything else, so I mostly draw from imagination and only reference specific stuff from other artists like how someone draws clothing folds or colors or whatever. I drew picrel 2 weeks ago.

This also sounds weird but pretty much everyone ive heard talk about art complains about their sketch looking great and their lineart looking bad but I tend to have the opposite? I feel as if my sketches look like dogshit and I have to do lineart to make them look any good. I enjoy lineart and coloring, but I tend to mull over sketching for hours upon hours. Am I just retarded or is this a more common thing than I realize

I used to believe that nothing is worth fighting for—just live an ordinary life. Eat, drink, sleep, work, and buy natural food; avoid fancy recipes. Stick to simple clothes like a black t-shirt and pants. Don’t aim for wealth or a flashy car. No big dreams, as they probably won’t happen. Just be human and don’t stress over trivial things.

I had Instagram and TikTok, but no personal photos or videos—just fun accounts. One day, I accidentally followed a girl. I saw her story the next day and was captivated. She was stunning. I messaged her, and she suggested I make a Discord account since she spent most of her time there. Our conversations grew deeper, and I fell for her more each day.

She loved music, played guitar, did ballet, and had a vibrant style. I fell for her and life because of her. We started a relationship, and she encouraged me to change my style. I worked harder to afford her suggestions. I got new clothes, upgraded my phone, and created social media accounts for my pictures. My philosophy changed; I realized you need to fight for life.

I poured my emotions into her and lived for her. She made me love life and myself. After 783 days together, she told me she’d been pretending all along to impress me, admitting she’d done this with others. I begged her to stay, but she told me to accept it.

A few days later, I saw a new guy commenting on her posts. She followed him everywhere. I’m unsure if he’s the new guy she mentioned or if she lied just to leave me.

Now, I feel lost. I can’t return to my old ways. I loved life once, but fighting for it feels pointless. I still love her and would take her back. She added color and meaning to my life.

What should I do?

She twirls and turns and flirts and skirts so bad it hurts
It irked me, and made me mad at first

Was that I had developed a crush

So let me get this straight. This girl you followed on the internet IMPROVED your life, and told you she isn't interested and now you're devastated? Brother you haven't experienced life. It's perfectly normal to feel that way because you haven't DONE anything. Cry in the shower , feel free to write about it, but refrain from throwing yourself a pity party. Self- pity has zero advantages and makes you weaker as a person. Work out not for the muscles but for the mind benefits, get into stoicism so you can learn some emotional regulation I'm a fan of seneca but that's because I allow pleasure to make me soft. Take long walks, realize that your mind right now is Diseased you need to practice the fundies of life (working out, consistent sleep, healthy eating, walks, not allowing yourself to spiral) and over time she'll become a distant memory, take it upon yourself to talk to people irl at your work. As a man it's your job to make every interaction happen say hello and good bye to everyone, then ask them how their day is going, what ever little thing you wonder about them ask them. Move away from the internet, there's nothing but bad people here, this isn't real life so people do not act as if it is. The best thing about that story again, she gave you a headstart, I was left broken, alone, fatter than I met her and had to claw my ass out of that hole a stronger man. You now have style and a better work ethic. You're right about life You have to fight for Prosperity, everyday, you're in control.
