Anyone got the Ixy coloso course?
>>7339297Nothing wrong, right?
>>7339310>>7339305>>7339297all these drawings look as if the characters are in pain
>>7339310Pretty awesome job anon, I think the only thing it needs If you can push away the background from the figures by putting darker tones you would separate and highlight them even more. But solid work
>>7338527retoasting.
>>7339333Or the foreground with more light, I think giving more light on the figures also would be useful
>>7339334honestly it's good just work on fundies in general (perspective form anatomy, her legs are a bit wonky)
>>7339333Seperating the background and characters was my big hurdle for this one. I'll definitely keep that more in mind when I attempt a drawing like that again. But looking at the greyscale, it doesn't look too band imo.
>>7339310what is giving off the purple light? in cinematography a rule is to have a lamp or something in the background that is lit, but not really giving off the light just so the viewer thinks the light is coming from there. Also like the other anon said you ought to work on the contrast between the bg and your figures, you want them to read even in thumbnail form. Maybe put fog in the bg and using the pumpkin for the purple light that;s coming out of nowhere.
>>7339348>what is giving off the purple light?I just thought it would look kewl :/
>>7339338Thanks, with what another anon said, I think I should focus on muscles too.
I made the colors
>>7339414With the shadows on the legs, It goes like this, tomorrow I will continue making the upper shadows and the light
trying digital
Is it over?
First time posterJust something ive been messing with for a bit
>>7339459Light looks great
>>7339454Nah ur just a /beg/ right now, give it time and keep practicingAlso recommend avoiding smudge tool for nowLearning to shade helps with color value as well>>7339441Practice long confident flowing lines to make the pose look less stiff
Posting again.
>>>7339250>how can I fix the left arm /hand?Choose to use more reference, depending on what it is that those arms are supposed to be doing. The thing that she's doing dictates the pose that you get, and there's going to be real life reference for basically anything it is she's trying to do. Pic related are some possible > yeah that makes senseThings she might be doing or going for, and if none of them work, you need to go make your own reference - go stand your phone on a desk, turn on the photo timer feature, then go take a photo of yourself doing your goal pose. Drawing from imagination is good, but it's how you end up in jams like this if you don't have enough familiarity to say>arms don't move like that, something's off.Build the familiarity, THEN draw from imagination.
>>7339310Not into furfag shit but that lit up lantern and pumpkin look top notch.
>>7339483>>>7339250Forgot the pic
>>7339454keep clean edges, don't feather your brushstrokes, draw with hard round brushes unless you're basically painting (you're not here), work on your cylinder and sphere perspective (the white dressed girl's arm has a weird extradimensional twist, and her boob is being blown by a high powered air cannon)...and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, use more reference, pic related.Things end up looking funny when you try to draw something and you don't know what it looks like - you can draw from imagination if you know what it looks like, but if you don't, reference.
>keep telling myself and others i want to take art seriously and maybe get into it professionally in 5-10 years>i havent drawn in a weekit's over for me i actually feel so guilty and awful right now
>>7339527it's fine! just draw now! if you don't know what to draw, draw your desk and computer monitor or something. anything
>>7339527this is why all the best artists learned through figure drawing. it's super easy to get in the habit of firing up quickposes.com and just grinding out figures for a few hours per day. Like doing reps
>>7339530>>7339535you guys make it sound so easy, but i cant even pick up my pen without feeling awful
>>7339559Anon relax a week in the grand scheme of your art journey is nothingQuit wasting energy worryingDraw 1 figure then try to draw 10 more after youre done
>>7339559>i cant even pick up my pen without feeling awfulGood. Maybe you'll learn that if you want to do it professionally it doesn't matter how you feel, what matters is results. Stop worrying about the past that you can't change and get to work. Step into the Arena show and show everyone what you got. Go as far as you can today and tomorrow start again trying to get further that's all you can do really.
I drew this

>>7339646Thanks!
>>7339662Looks pretty cool, hopefully when you render it you'll make the armor extra reflective and shiny.
>>7339630Let the begs not use references and shoot themselves in the foot if they want. Then they'll wonder why they've been drawing for 5 years and still aren't as good as someone who has only been to art school for 1 year.
>>7339690That's the idea. The cloth will hopefully have some bleeding through and get more red the closer to his legs. Also the weapons need more detail. It's kinda place holders right now.I want to make them more high fantasy like the rest
Today I start to learn drawing (well actually, I started yesterday but whatever). As you can see, I have no talent, but I will make sure to work hard.
>>7339662nobody will tell you this because it's not easy to say, your shit is fucking ugly, all your art, you need to pause and really look at your shit, you're spinning your wheels for a year now
finally made something with a background and paid attention to the coloring. Probably made a lot of mistakes. enjoyed the process though. Any crit appreciated
>>7339831That's not too bad for first starting out, your drawing already looks 3D so you've got potential. Best advice I can give you is the more time you spend on a drawing, the better it'll always look. Even a professional's drawing won't look that great until they're 10 hours into the drawing.
>>7339855How is that bad? The pauldrons especially look pretty well detailed on that drawing.
>>7339855Its not bad its just that the proportions suck, the head is always too small and the limbs are always too long
>>7339860I like it, the only thing that gripes me is you can still see her eye with the hair covering it. I find it alot more sexy if only one eye is showing but that's just my personal nitpick.
>>7339861>>7339865NTA and I wouldn't say it's particularly bad but the whole thing is symbol drawing. Even with all the detail it looks entirely flat and doesn't make sense. For example, the character looks like she's walking yet both pauldrons are hunched forward (presumably because he wanted to show off how he could detail) and despite the fact the pauldrons are hunched forward, the tassels attached are facing the viewer flat, even though they should both be rotated inward slightly. There's a whole bunch of decisions here that cascade and shows anon wasn't thinking 3d when he drew it
>>7339869>herMy man this is a boy :(>sexyDamn sure he is sexy though. I think it's a stylistic choice to either keep it or delete it, the ref I used had it so I left it there, might be interesting to see it without though so I will make a v2
>>7339874>boy
>>7339866small head and long limbs is a classic angle in art, people who draw shit with those proportions get thousand of patreonbux or are drawing professionally, what the fuck are you on about?>>7339865it's "pretty" for a drawing made by a 10 year old, not by an adultIts the FINISH, the LINES, the VOLUME, it's terrible, godawful, this is 2 likes on deviantart zone, pretend this isn't /ic/ and imagine this gets posted on xitter or on pivix, how do you expect it to do? Stop lying to this poor nigga, there are people here who just started, and their art looks as you would expect it to, there are people here who drew for a bit longer and their art looks passable, then there's this sob, he's obviously at it for a few years and his art looks as bad as any day 1 newbie, he needs to hear this shit from me because nobody else will tell him.
>>7339880You like the drawing, admit it.
>>7339881nobody likes this drawing, i suspect even the author has to convince himself he likes it
>>7339880>small head and long limbs is a classic angle in artIf it looks good yes, in this case, it does not. The torso and limbs are way too long and the head is squished. Which is why it looks off. Other than that he puts a lot of effort into the details which makes it look appealing but the underlying issues are still there. Also stop crabbing just give him advice instead of saying it looks shit.
>>7339882Playing hard to get, huh? I see how it is.
>>7339874I thought it was an electric toothbrush.I thought so because of the tattoo
Am I getting there? I started this journey 2 months ago now
>>7339883>in this case, it does notbecause nothing he puts on a canvas with those shitty lines will look good, go play around with liquify or other transform tool and see if you can make it look good, you can't, it has to be redrawn from scratch>Also stop crabbing just give him advice instead of saying it looks shit.I told him, his finish, his lines, his volume, they're all terrible, he's not retarded, if he acknowledges the problem he will be able to fix it. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink
A Wip for a Character I threw together
>>7339887I think it can look pretty good if it's rendered. Also I don't think you're leading a horse to water, you're telling it to dive off a cliff.
>>7339887Gaslighter
>>7339890>I think it can look pretty good if it's renderedthis dude posted rendered pieces before, they looked just as bad if not worse, genuinely nauseating Also if you were an artist yourself you would know that this kind of lineart doesn't lend itself towards rendering
>>7339888Cool character, almost looks like a boss character from a video game. Maybe you can add some shadows to it to really make it pop out.
>>7339894Where is this bitterness coming from? It's not a healthy mindset to have since you speak like someone who is one step away from throwing themselves off a bridge. You can talk to me bro, I'm here for you.
>>7339909These are my honest thoughts when looking at his art, where is this "bitterness" you're seeing exactly? I learned something interesting a few years back, when you're speaking completely devoid of emotional payload people will inevitably project their own emotions onto you, they just can't help it. So why are you being bitter?
>>7339909He's gaslighting you
>>7339918It's not your fault.
>>7339924You didn't answer my question but here's anotherWhy are you crabbing this guy so hard? Why is it so important to you that he doesn't listen to me and keeps drawing his ugly flat shit with terrible lines and rendering forever?
>>7339930It's not your fault. We're all GMI.

>>7339949Don't worry if they don't look good, just plug away at them and grind your muscle memory.
>>7339950looks nice especially the eyeball and earring, my only complaint is that some colors look kind of flat like it was filled with the paint bucket
>>7339951Maybe you see this as a drawing, but this "drawing" could identify as something else than what you see it as.Do you see?
>>7339966Considering its my first time actually trying to color something aside from cell shading, I will take it. Thanks my dudeGotta grind coloring nevertheless
>>7339970first time? thats already better than most, you could also try looking at pros timelapses like wlop or any other you admire and see how they render to steal their bag of tricks
>>7339975I followed this tutorial:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76uT2a1BhDwIt went alright but had some issues with placement of things like darker shadows and highlights. Looking at other artists might help me with that, so thank you! I will keep up the grind.
>>7339895Thanks. She actually will be a sort of Boss for a Card Game me and a friend work on right now. We just started last Month with it though so it's all still subjective to change.
>>7339948Cool, will do. Currently doing the Marc Brunets 30 day challenge and faces.
>>7339958>>7339953Any exercises you can recommend?
feet are hard
>>7340001They are, but those are ok enough. Learning how to draw shoes is honestly probably more important than learning how to draw bare feet.
>>7339986I'd say what you're doing right now is good enough but don't just focus on exercises and studies. Draw what you want and what you think will be fun like a big boobed anime girl or someone getting kicked in the nuts, else you'll quickly burn yourself out and will end up hating drawing.
>realized I like painting a lot more than I like drawingI dont even know how to get good at painting besides starting with greyscale still lifes.
I'm not sure if it's the choice of colors or method of shading, but my art always looks "unfinished" no matter how much effort I put
>>7340029Cute. how'd you color the clothes?
>>7339655Like from spain? I like your art anon, it's very cool! Keep up the good work.

How is this coming along?
I'm just gonna do the Loomis Figure Drawing book despite being a total quitter begfaggot. What's the proper way of working with an art book? Should i copy everything i see? Just do the specified exercises?I think i'm just gonna copy literally everything for the mileage but idk, would that be counter-productive or w/e?
>>7340298The ass is fat. Would
>>7340301>>What's the proper way of working with an art book? Should i copy everything i see? Just do the specified exercises?BothThen go through the book again doing it from memory
>>7340250People need to now what gaslighting is in order to take away it's power.
>>7340304>Then go through the book again doing it from memoryThat sounds like it's going to be so fucking hard.Any issues with doing it digital? Just for the convienience's sake. I could do trad with HB pencils if it's pertinent.
>>7340309Wouldn't gas lightning be directed towards me? Or are you saying anons gaslight eachother using a 3rd anons work? They seemed to agree on critiques. Just not how they should tell or help me.

>>7340250what made who angry? anyway anon was right. work on folds. I'd also suggest working on your lines/line confidence so you stop reinforcing them.overall nice work.

>>7340318I'm on my phone with limited tools. Last time I posted with linear consistent lines I got made fun of that they looked color book. That lines should be thicker in areas and thinner in others.I don't really have a tool that detects pressure well but I will do another pass and try my old method to see if that better. I felt they looked scratchy too.Thank you for confirming my fears anon. Also I don't want to link all the posts I'm talking about and saying they're angry was projection. I have no idea what they were feeling
>>7340319I'll do 50/50.I gotta.>>7340315
>>7340327I love you anon. Let's grow together
>>7340325>Last time I posted with linear consistent lines I got made fun of that they looked color book.>That lines should be thicker in areas and thinner in others. It was likely that the line thickness didn't fit the subject matter and made the material seem off. Don't think on it too deeply, only that it didn't seem fitting and that more studies should be done. See how other artists have rendered the subject and try to take something from it.
>>7340313Directed towards you.Doesn't matter if they agree on the same things or not and for all you know it could be the same person pretending to be another person. When it comes time to critique someone, a person will just point out what is wrong with the thing without doing it in a demeaning way.Going around saying "This is shit" "This is awful" is not critique, it's gaslighting which they will try to pass off as "critique"

Gay kobold dancer.
>>7340334Well they definitely had observations. And I do want to grow as an artist so it's hard to say "no anon you don't have merit" I just wish it wasn't so angry seeming. Granted that's my projection. I just can't view harsh language as anything other than mad.But maybe you're right, maybe I should ignore angry comments. I just appreciate help is all.
>>7339662>>7340346what this anon saidyour sort of overworking the linework. you need to work more on the overall shapes and forms. if you want to still have lots of detail, use more lineweight. all of the main and detail lines being mostly the same opacity and size leads the drawing to be really muddied
>>7340356i used the wrong youre im cooked
>>7340346How do you make a shape not look flat without shading?Detail in the hand? Or in this case gauntlet?
>>7340359You don't need to excuse your grammar anon. I'm grwatful for the help. I've never had any formal training just a raw interest.I don't want to be a retard and make you reiterate yourself. But I should do certain details at a different thickness and opacity?
>>7340370overlaying forms . dont want to act like im the hand god or anything but picrel i drew for the hand thread basically relies entirely on overlapping shapes. bridgman and 90s comics are really good examples of hands with form to ill put a pic of some i like after
>>7340353>But maybe you're right, maybe I should ignore angry comments. I just appreciate help is all. That's exactly what I'm saying.Helping someone isn't about using their problem to shit all over them, because what would be the purpose of doing so?Well, I've said it all before so that's that.

(I never posted on this board before so soz if this isn't the place)I got myself a tablet and started drawing exactly 4 months ago today cos I wanted to draw characters from games/shows I like and I found out I enjoy it Immensely, especially coloring, tho I'm not sure how to actually improve lineart and improve construction/anatomy and all that, just fundamentals I guess, I don't know anyone personally that does art. I just look at how artists that inspire me draw and try to incorporate the way they draw into my own drawings I imagine in my head. I find it hard to use a reference for a pose because once I have a pose in my head, I get super autistic about it and I refuse to settle for anything else, so I mostly draw from imagination and only reference specific stuff from other artists like how someone draws clothing folds or colors or whatever. I drew picrel 2 weeks ago. This also sounds weird but pretty much everyone ive heard talk about art complains about their sketch looking great and their lineart looking bad but I tend to have the opposite? I feel as if my sketches look like dogshit and I have to do lineart to make them look any good. I enjoy lineart and coloring, but I tend to mull over sketching for hours upon hours. Am I just retarded or is this a more common thing than I realize

Trying OC stuff. A mix between mechgirl and Blame!. Gonna try a front view next…
I used to believe that nothing is worth fighting for—just live an ordinary life. Eat, drink, sleep, work, and buy natural food; avoid fancy recipes. Stick to simple clothes like a black t-shirt and pants. Don’t aim for wealth or a flashy car. No big dreams, as they probably won’t happen. Just be human and don’t stress over trivial things.I had Instagram and TikTok, but no personal photos or videos—just fun accounts. One day, I accidentally followed a girl. I saw her story the next day and was captivated. She was stunning. I messaged her, and she suggested I make a Discord account since she spent most of her time there. Our conversations grew deeper, and I fell for her more each day.She loved music, played guitar, did ballet, and had a vibrant style. I fell for her and life because of her. We started a relationship, and she encouraged me to change my style. I worked harder to afford her suggestions. I got new clothes, upgraded my phone, and created social media accounts for my pictures. My philosophy changed; I realized you need to fight for life.I poured my emotions into her and lived for her. She made me love life and myself. After 783 days together, she told me she’d been pretending all along to impress me, admitting she’d done this with others. I begged her to stay, but she told me to accept it.A few days later, I saw a new guy commenting on her posts. She followed him everywhere. I’m unsure if he’s the new guy she mentioned or if she lied just to leave me.Now, I feel lost. I can’t return to my old ways. I loved life once, but fighting for it feels pointless. I still love her and would take her back. She added color and meaning to my life. What should I do?
>>7340821>What should I do?D-draw??
Going through figure drawing for all its worth as my first figure drawing book. Should I skip the anatomy (bone and muscle breakdown) sections and come back when I'm more experienced?
>>7340821Get a 3 plate bench, and all of life's problems will go away.
>>7340821You fell for the old "Pretty girl encourages me to consume more so I can integrate into the economic cycle, spending more capital and creating more revenue for big and maybe small businesses if she's a trendy art chick" psyop. The only thing you can do now is pick up a pencil and have fun with it. She was a CIA plant. Do not take her back.

>>7340821My second victim was even bigger than the firstPop star, icon, the whole worksShe played a little schoolgirl when she firstBurst upon the scene and seen that the world was hersShe twirls and turns and flirts and skirts so bad it hurtsIt irked me, and made me mad at firstI lashed out in my songs, but what was really going onWas that I had developed a crushI just didn't know how to tell it to herShould I cut off one of my ears and mail it to her?
>>7340821 So let me get this straight. This girl you followed on the internet IMPROVED your life, and told you she isn't interested and now you're devastated? Brother you haven't experienced life. It's perfectly normal to feel that way because you haven't DONE anything. Cry in the shower , feel free to write about it, but refrain from throwing yourself a pity party. Self- pity has zero advantages and makes you weaker as a person. Work out not for the muscles but for the mind benefits, get into stoicism so you can learn some emotional regulation I'm a fan of seneca but that's because I allow pleasure to make me soft. Take long walks, realize that your mind right now is Diseased you need to practice the fundies of life (working out, consistent sleep, healthy eating, walks, not allowing yourself to spiral) and over time she'll become a distant memory, take it upon yourself to talk to people irl at your work. As a man it's your job to make every interaction happen say hello and good bye to everyone, then ask them how their day is going, what ever little thing you wonder about them ask them. Move away from the internet, there's nothing but bad people here, this isn't real life so people do not act as if it is. The best thing about that story again, she gave you a headstart, I was left broken, alone, fatter than I met her and had to claw my ass out of that hole a stronger man. You now have style and a better work ethic. You're right about life You have to fight for Prosperity, everyday, you're in control.

lately i just cannot make myself draw. i want to really badly but every time i sit down to do it, i just can't.
>>7340971why? it's like breathing.
>>7340976based
>>7340976i dunno! that's how it used to be for me too. i'm deep in a slump or something i guess. it's been going for months. at first i was just like "it'll go away on its own" but it hasn't, but also no matter how hard i try to force myself to push through, that's not working either.

>Decide to practice clothing this week>Open up morpho>Get hit by a massive wave of fatigue>Eyelids get ridiculously heavy, feel like I'm going to to just drop while drawingI'm still going to try at it for the rest of the week, I can only hope it gets better or I was just having an off day because this has never happened to me.
>>7340985don't do morpho then. his drawings are not for everyone. study something else
>>7340991Maybe, I'll obviously do my own looking but do you have any recommendations?
>>7340992if you're just studying clothing, just copy artists you likehttps://x.com/daisukerichard/mediathis guy is really good, but he's not the only one. morhpo is just a collection of images, so why morpho specifically, and not your favorite artists?
>>7340985draw your favorite anime girls in your own clothes. doesn't matter if you think your clothes are untrendy or whatever. this helps with learning clothing/fabric types you're already familiar with, you can use your own clothes as ref, and you get to draw your favorite characters in your own clothes
>>7340985you're intimidated by this?
>>7341003nta but that's better than anything i've drawn in my entire life so yes lol
>>7341004why be scared? morpho isnt going to pop out of the screen and start yelling at you for being bad. you don't even have to post it here. nobody will have to see them but you, the most important thing is to actually draw
>>7341040I like yours better. I feel the bold lines add to the gaze
>>7340995>>7340998Thanks I'll try to apply these over the next while>why morpho specifically, and not your favorite artists?Just didn't think of it, defaulted to "I need to study this thing so I should find a book on it.">>7341003Not intimidated, just got sleepy while trying to study from it.

I drew this dapper fellow today.
>>7339454Yes it's over.
I felt that the two cylinders I put ticks next to were some of the best cylinders I've done. They are tricky to get right, mainly the ellipses in perspective thing it's just hard to make it look nice.
>>7341239How in the fuck do you git guds at shapes? Actually better question, how do you not get pissed off at making shapes? Cause I can paint random trees mountains and other shit and not care one bit about them being bad looking or off putting cause I am having fun, but the moment I try to make a cube I just get pissed off
>>7341267i like yur cubes
>>7341267Practice, but also looking at other examples of cubes so you can figure out the perspective differences.
>>7341267pyw firstmost likely you're getting frustrated because you don't know what you're doing i.e. you're not feeling in control which is what causes anger
>>7339297At what point will the cargo cult around artists disappear and people admit it's a question of talent and opportunity?

>>7341402Yeah. I kind of knew that. I have just been drawing to be fair.
>>7341394I think this notion of 'personality animation' is the best aspect of other disciplines like underground comix, where artists were first given the ability to delineate any character trait.
>>7341400...what...? Handwriting? You said my circles looked sloppy, you've already seen them.
