>>7358275Well, it's always good to have a reference to compare to. Compare and write down all the (major) differences. If you're going off imagination and something is difficult to get right, I'd say write that down too. Flipping your canvas also helps as it basically gives you a new set of eyes, although I tend to do it so much I go blind to the mistakes until I take a break. (I come back and see everything is misaligned and shitty lol). If all else fails, ask someone to tell you what they think looks fucked up, anyone will do really.

Im uncertain but It seems like you might have blurred the face a little- unsure though. Our eyes/brains don't naturally comprehend extreme foreshortening because we'd only focus on 1 plane of depth at a time. The pose spans a distance, so having everything in equal detail and focus makes "correctness" hard to acheive. It always makes me smile when I see "proompters" try to false flag with random gens from Pixiv or Civitai because they're too lazy or dumb to even open up the program and type the words themselves. Too lazy for AI, too lazy to draw for real. Makes me feel a lot better about myself.
>>7359252Dang that's crazy.
>>7359252it could have been a trap you set up, it could have been a real drawing but you pretend it's AI to lure people who say they're sure it's AI, so you can then humiliate them by telling them it's not. Although I realize this, I'll take the “risk” of telling you that I'm 100% sure it's AI, I recognize it at a glance. In the same way, you recognize at a glance that picrel isn't AI, you just know it. It's true that AI is (relatively) good at imitating say 5% of human art, but for the other 90%, it's not the case - when you take one look at a drawing that's part of that 90%, you don't even have the slightest doubt in your mind that it could be AI.
95%* lol
>>7359261if you're making soulless art for “consumers” and normies, you do indeed have something to worry about (for a manga where the visual context of a panel is always related to the previous ones, good luck making a good manga with the randomness of AI)
>>7359263in reality, when you make a manga, you make the visuals in relation to the various narrative contexts, not the other way around. these are just empty, impractical demonstrations.
>>7359248Yes, it's a good book. It's probably for the best it isn't shilled as much as it is, because it does have some questionable takes, but, I'd say it's also more modern in what it teaches.

Starting my drawing journey (once again)Currently sitting in a mental hospital in eastern europe, after which will probably spend some time in a homeless shelter So basically I have a bit of free time at the moment Also I was told that there is an instructor that comes here and teaches drawing, but she is on vacation at the moment... disappointing...Also I can't understand if I am having fun and enjoying drawing or if it is just the depression that seems to make me feel apathetic, but it seems to at least distract me from my thoughts, so that's nice Anyway here is a feet drawing done as the first exercise of Keys to DrawingLeft foot came out a bit smaller than intended (or right foot larger)
Here's a pair of fingers and an apple... (and a crumpled paper that I was too lazy to finish)

>>7358093My drawing speed and copying accuracy is increasing but I still don't get the forms and gestures. How can I "Draw over the forms"?
do you guys actually enjoy the process of drawing or just the results? i really want to learn and get better and produce cool art but the drawing itself is so tedious and boring.
>>7359348I turn on some music and just vibe. Makes the process more fun for me at least. Usually The Doors as their song lengths are good for timing a piece
>Stop thinking too hard and only doodle>It's all garbage even for my standardsIs this normal? I usually draw from reference but I'm surprised at how shit my doodles are
>>7359344You're already drawing over the forms. Look at the torso center lines you made, take the top right one, you started it where the collar bones meet in the middle you followed the form of the ribcage with a slight curve, and then you dip into the navle and out over the lower stomach again, if that's not "drawing over the form" I dont know what is. Imagine you're drawing directly on the surface of whatever you're drawing. All your circle around the limbs are a really handy tool too which shows form and direction.
>>7359348i'm a simple person i enjoy the process because i draw my husbando and special interests
>>7359210I am just ver angry and frustarted because my neet art cooleague keeps getting better while I have to wageslave with no alternatives. He gets to draw all he wants, grind and even get leisure time in vidya while I have to sacrifice sleep to draw a bit after coming home and even then I am already spent from the day and I have to sacrifice anything that isn't drawing to use that little time getting nowhere while he gets to enjoy his time to the fullest.Seeing him upload his art that easily surpassed me in a few months while I am at work and how he also has observation talent to draw well and without mistakes at first while I have to autistically measure shit to copy wrong and redo over and over just makes me salty.I know many will say "Just draw bruh" and to not compare oneself to others but having just what you fucking want right in front of you and having it rubbed on your face really hurts. I wish I was good and could make better stuff with the little time I have or that I at least only had to work part time.I envy people who get all the support they need to reach their dreams.

>>7359431Learn to draw ands compose first. I tried to skip straigt to paint and uit fucked me out of 8 years that I wont get back.
>>7359344Vilppu is tricky because he explicitly draws out the initial abstract idea of gesture in line, which is a sense of general direction based on what you can actually see. It's a guide to loosely follow when drawing that helps inform you how to design your lines, shapes and structure. Many artists don't do this though, they are however of course aware of it and start with shape or structure and design it to show that sense of gesture, "skipping" the initial step that Vilppu and Hampton do.I like Steve Huston's description of gesture as it's simple and concrete. 'Gesture is the curved long axis of a structure'. I wouldn't say gesture is always curved, it just is. However the sense of a straight gesture tends to be stiff and boring so we design our lines, shapes and structure to make it curve. Gesture doesn't just move in the X and Y axis, but also the Z axis, it can come towards us or move away. This leans into the "feeling the form". Imagine a 3d structure in your mind, a cylinder that is made of glass. Start drawing a line across the surface(crosscontour line) from the visible area to the the hidden area, all around and connect it . Use your arm in the air as if holding a pen that is going over the surface as if it's really there. Turn it, try again. IVisualising and interacting with this mental model is "feeling the form", imagining where lines would end up despite not being able to see it all. It's closely related to understanding perspective as well as the saying "think like a sculptor". Grab some photos of figures and draw lines over the surface. Or do some of those Dynamic Sketching exercises. Can hint at parts of anatomy for example to emphasise the gesture. It's a tool. Made these images a while back regarding gesture, maybe it helpshttps://postimg.cc/PCkV5pBX

maan. I went to every single big store in my city in search for a clipboard to draw my doodle on. None of them had one. wtf. why are those things so hard to find. do i really need to order one online
Sup /beg/. I'm on my sixth day of a 30 day drawing challenge, and I wanted to check in to see if I'm approaching things smartly.I've just been drilling cubes and circles, then spicing things up with circle-shield faces. Occassionally I'll try to practice some more complicated pictures by reference, but the bulk of my grind has been those shapes and face proportions. How effective do you think this is for a complete beginner? Should I be focusing on something else?
>>7359019>Is it true that copying bridgman twice gives you tremendous progress? Do I need to copy every last single tiny figure in there? Is there a more modern version maybe? The book by TenTen is probably closest to it. https://e-hentai.org/g/2367763/1b25ad2999/
>>7359019Doing any of the commonly rec'd books and copying the drawings while paying attention/being thoughtful (i.e. not rushing) will give you tremendous progress. It doesn't have to be bridgman. But it is one of the books that focuses on individual body parts, which makes it easier to digest. If you're not getting something out of copying a book you probably are focusing on the wrong things, like trying to mimic the style vs learning why the drawings look a certain way/what they are trying to convey
when do you graduate to int?
>>7359469>How effective do you think this is for a complete beginner?efficiency is not that important in the beginning, just develop the habit of drawing for funbut if you really want to grind, spend your time on observation and accuracy (i.e. copy simple drawings you like 1:1)
>>7359475I watched a video that showed an artist drawing every day for 11700 hours, and he didn't start drawing art worth sharing until he was 2k-3k in.If you draw an hour a day for a year, you only put in 365 hours. If you want to get better in any reasonable amount of time, just drawing for fun isn't going to cut it. Know what I mean?
>>7359459Why didn't you check if any of these stores had them stocked?
>>7359459Go to homedepo and get yourself a square piece of hdf plywood. And then pick up some art clips from your local art shop.
>>7359477in the hindsight I should have, but the 4 big stores in my city are like 1km apart. I just kinda assumed atleast one of them would have something like stocked. my drawingsheet is just getting thinner and softer to draw on after every image I finish, gotta find one from somewhere
>>7359476>If you draw an hour a day for a year, you only put in 365 hoursif you enjoy something and have fun, you're more likely to spend far more than just an hour a daybesides, what is a reasonable time frame for you? professional degrees take around 4 years full time to go through (around 11700 hours, coincidentally)
>>7359476Why draw if not for fun.
>>7359482My post, I'm a retard. I feel like I rendered this piece too much and should have gone for a more simplistic approach. The point was to highlight the belly as I wanted to make it the main focal point
>>7359481I don't mind how long it takes for me to get good, I just want to be decent as soon as possible.>>7359483It's not that I don't want to have fun, it's just that I'm churning out dogshit right now, and I want to be able to be proud of what I make.
>>7359478I might just actually have to do that at this point
>>7359471Damn japs.I can't read your language i can only speak it
Thoughts? General is fine, I don't know enough to know what things I need to work on. I do think that need advice and guidance on lighting/highlights and making things look appealing, though.
>>7359491that's chinese
>>7359439>How long will it take to draw like this?as long as you need to >What do you think the workflow was, scan pencil and color on computer?Try to find the artist and look for videos of him, this looks very similar to the art of Michael Spooner or Bengus, both use a sort of wash underpainting and build up saturation. In the case of Michael Spooner, I have the following workflow from one of his trainees while working on Treasure PlaneVellum or tracing paperErased colour pencil underpaintingPrismacolour pencil Black pen for lineseraseadd a little bit of gouache This is trad, but knowing how he does it helps to find a way to reproduce it digitally.
>>7359471Tenten is good but I wouldn't call his book a contemporary bridgman. I would go for steve huston and morpho.>>7359494It feels stiff, especially the red thread, I would love to see it thinner where the tension is and droopy where it hangs.
>>7359435>explicitly draws out the initial abstract idea of gesture in lineDo you mean flow pre-sketch of gestures by a few lines or what NTA
Drawing a character that's simple and turning it is hard.
dumb bitch
>>7359500I can't read that either
good morning sirs (woke up at 6pm)
>>7359582Well, you did a good job of it here.

There's a bunch wrong with this sketch, I know, but I spent so much time trying to recreate Canello's little half-smile here, and I can't figure it out. Anyone have any advice?

Are there any resources for rendering latex with ink and pencils? Notable artists? Tutorials?
>>7359665
>>7359653>draw anime girls and do sexHow does that even works?
>>7359718what’s your hand drawing process? tell me or i’ll kill myself
>>7359734Well. To be quite frankly. I grinded all of morpho's simplified forms then studied hogarth's dynamic hands whenever I found myself struggling to draw them from imagination. Now whenever I draw from reference it's a breeze. The secret really is just getting mileage anon haha. I really sucked at drawing hands a few months ago.
>>7359713https://e-hentai.org/g/2871460/1b9ce339be/I was looking the art book section of this websites and happen to come this just now.

>>7359752Thanks anon
>>735975>>7359755>>7359755
How’s the anatomy/perspective
>>7359562The lines indicating the flow stuff actually is the gesture already, all the other stuff you add after that is for solidifying the figure with basic structure which in turn follows the gesture. Adding the outer edges of the form(containing) and wrapping lines to show the orientation.Vilppu's shtick is one thing leading into the other. If it's still confusing, or i just explained it badly, just use the definition of Huston which is as clearcut as can be "Gesture is the (curved) long axis of a structure".
>>7359276thanks, but I didn't think it was in english
