Sketch of a "dybbuk", a type of illegal artificial being from my fantasy-scifi setting. They're produced by rogue bio-alchemists and sold as weapons. Illegal due to their capacity to tap into the human gestalt to draw powers from. Essentially they turn you into red mist with psionic blasts, but in the deep lore they're calling upon thousands of souls of the dead and forcing them to attack targets. The reason they're illegal is because they have the capacity to develop souls of their own, at which point their limiters no longer function. Which is why those who produce them usually put in kill switches coded into their genes.

Nice cutie!, got an idea for an historical drama. Princess Himiko's time is up, the war must end, only one shogun can prevail. She will be delivered into pieces to the winner clan as a token of respect. Maybe that will appease the new Shogun's thirst for revenge.

>>

Exactly, you get it spot on. Bio-alchemy in the setting has become so advanced and ubiquitous that rogue practitioners can get terrifying results using mostly commercially available technology. Before the creation of biowarriors became viable, it was designer diseases, created by self proclaimed "bio-hackers". To be brief, they're misanthropes who competed with one another to create the most sophisticated and complex diseases, from bacteria that caused complex and colorful flower-like patterns to "bloom" from the skin to pathogens like the Menagerie, a mutagen which converted people into strange new bestial shapes. Lemme see if I have any sketches of these things.

Day 7 today and I suddenly feel like I don't have what it takes. I feel like I started out impressing myself but yesterday my drawing was so bad that I didn't even feel like sharing it and today I just can't get shapes right at all even if I'm literally just following a simplified drawing reference from the book.
Drawing from my mind is even worse I cant' even draw a 3D stool.

First off
>t I have difficulty imagining shit in my head
thats bad, try to work on that. Its something you can easily develop, just try and envision things like you're training your mind daily.
Secondly, I don't think its that bad a thing, but how good of a reference can free AI really spit out? Unless you have a paid for model, you'll only get useless slop, I think. Morally I see no issue with it, AI is not some great cosmic evil.

I hate gore, I can't draw any of that. I like romance, "extreme romance". Like in the King Arthur's classic when Arthur sentence her Guinevere to death and Sir Lancelot comes to rescue her just in time. Same happens in Ivanhoe, or even Sword of the Berserk, etc. Classic romance novels uses the damsel in distress all the time. For a reason. When something precious is at stake, everything gets more intense and meaningful.

Looking for advice on drawing more on intuition and using construction to get the right proportions. I'll try to draw something, discover the head or something is way too small, abandon my original construction and spend an hour obsessively erasing and redrawing the same line trying to get it to match my reference. Doesn't feel like I'm getting "the idea of the construction of the character" as a lot of people have advised I look for. Do I just need to draw/copy more, or is there an approach to getting good proportions here I'm missing?

>>7434448
It's pretty good, you got the shape of the hair and dress really nice. The face needs a little work, I think. It's really "angular", and the head tilt completely doesn't match the angle of the neck.

>>7434463
I don't see anything explicitly wrong with it, and the rest of your poses are also pretty good. Unless it's an intentional choice, you may consider turning on anti-alias on your main linework.

I'm not gonna be doing a whole comic with text and all, but here, she's given one last request before the execution, she chooses to fuck the handsome executioner. And she's enjoying that shit as clearly shown in picrel. Sentenced men usually don't have that "courtesy" available to them.
But you're right I hate sordid rap3 scenes in mainstream movies, (very frequent actually in many of them along the decades). That shit should be left for B-movies and porn.

Fucking how? Many anons (me included) cant even copy a figure in a year and this fucker is already animating with perfect perspective, tempo and proportions.
This is fucking rope inducing.

A little poison and a little meat does not make a balanced meal. This sort of idea is bullshit, you need to limit the evil and garbage you do and consume as much as possible. >>
>>7435333
>A little poison and a little meat does not make a balanced meal
I don't think that's a correct metaphor for this "thing". We're talking about a physiological element of our nature, an important element. If you repress it and hide it, it will build up shit, and it will become a cancer. You have to let it vent, take it out of your system. Coom brains have that problem, they hold that shit till it becomes literal poison. But you can not get rid of it tho, it is part of your physiology, your body will keep producing it, non-stop. That's what femoids don't get about the men struggle.
>>
>>7435339
>important element
When properly applied. Sex ain't a joke, its one of the most powerful primal forces of life, and in its proper context its good, but not the way we twist it. I'm in a bad mood rn due to real life shit so I won't get into detail, but you absolutely CAN get fix your brain. Not talking about going asexual, I'm talking about not twisting what is good until its a hideous sickness instead. Our porn infested culture does NOT UNDERSTAND what sex is meant to be, we are sordid animals in the shape of men.

You get cunning. If the talented are doing meaningless anime girl shit, you need to do something meaningful. You can't get bitter over petty things like personal pain, that is what will rot your soul and turn you into a subhuman nihilist. Rise above, delve bellow. See the truth and reflect its image. Art can be meaningful, and it can be used for something worthwhile AND entertaining at the same time. Can you not create something that is beautiful in a true sense? Then create something cutting, that will challenge its viewer. The alternative is to become a Chris-chan-like subhuman that creates the equivalent of cultural/spiritual refuse and obsesses over it.

I know what he means. It happens mostly with people doing pencil on paper. Like in terror movies when you see real drawing art of horrible things, it's not scary if it is some fake print. Real media exposes real spiritual shit. There are a few random anons posting that kind of shit, but they don't stay around.

Kek, I see it.
Yeah, it's probably just a lull, just caught me off guard since it's the first one that got worse on the second day.
Probably doesn't help that I've been doing heads a lot lately, so I notice mistakes a lot quicker.
Logically I know I'm on an upwards trend still, poses in picrel are much better than the ones I was doing a while ago, just doesn't always feel like it.

That's because they have no taste. Pussy's need some meat on them and you nailed it. Other types are also obviously also cute but the way you draw it is the best.

Starting the RAT MAN comic. Its about a setting where every single piece of technology is somehow paranormal. From the simplest flint tool, which carries the concept of the intent of its maker and is empowered by it, to modern day computers, which are conduits for unclean spirits to manifest. The story will follow this weird guy who lives off the system yet within it, with no registration implant or any official presence in govt databases. He works both as a pest control guy and a hunter of dangerous paranormal beings.

I don't need to honor anything else, beauty justifies any endeavor by it self.
>>
>>7435628
That is a dangerous sentiment which leads to self indulgence. It is also untrue. Beauty becomes shallow if it exists to glorify itself. You can choose something truly meaningful. For example, natural femininity, which has been horrendously twisted by modernity. Though that may seem like a rather basic aspect to enshrine, it is worth exploring for some. Anything that's not profane will do, really. If you want to go for something higher, mankind's struggle against entropy or other such things(had to delete the other example, some things are not to be spoken of so openly). You could also explore one of our darker aspects, so long as you do not promote it as good. Perhaps our capacity for self deceit in service of hedonism. Its up to you, ofc, just have wisdom when seeking these things. Our world is full of what is essentially spiritual garbage and poison. The species needs to start correcting its course, especially in its culture. This is difficult to understand for those born within the sick culture.

Got the cheapest huion screen I could find, a 3rd gen kamvas 13. It feels similar to a 400 series strathmore or any sketchbooks with a more fine grain approach than basic a4 paper.
Was odd at first since when I first glided my finger on the screen I thought it was just slippery glass but the texture is extremely meaty and grippy when you glide the pen on the surface for some reason.

Finish. Thoughts? I still struggle the most at making feet and shoes. Lately I have been thinking if it is worth to keep "polishing" my drawings when these are pure practice and the only people I show them to is this thread. I could make multiple sketches in the time it takes me to take on of these to completion but coloring is so much fun. What do you guys think? Oh. If you work on the face a bit it'll read as such. She's too angular as it is and has no real feminine traits. Even if she's a ragged knight woman, there could be at least some such traits, right? Unless its an actual plot point that she's very "homely". I quite like medieval fantasy stuff, specially of the darker variety, will look forward to see more of your work.

Yeah I see it now.

You're trying to put in too much detail and the brush you're using is looking aliased and crusty at that scale. The two issues together is probably making it difficult to control your strokes. If you can simplify the eyes with the same sixe brush you used for the rest of the drawing I think it would help. I redrew the face just as an example for more simple shapes but it turned out a bit cartoony so feel free to disregard it.

I've watched a million tutorials on constructing features, drawing in 3D is no problem. I just don't know what the deal is.And yeah I know the lips are a bit dark, just didn't bother to lighten them. Its not as bad as you think it is. The mouth needs to be a little more symmetrical, the nose needs simpler, lighter lines and the eyes need some lashes, and maybe be slightly larger. Not too much though. Female chins are supposed to be very delicate, and that's hard to do, I don't really have any advice for that.
>>
>>7436577
>my noses always look like a goddamn blobfish no matter how I try
how all have you tried, exactly? can you show us examples of you trying different methods/noses than the one in picrel? one thing you could do is copy from artists you like. and not just once, but dozens and dozens of times.
>size I draw the head at
learn some generic proportion and learn how to check them with your pencil. you could also take an eye-level photo with no foreshortening and check proportions that way. when drawing from reference, you can take the same type of photo and overlay it onto the reference and adjust the opacity and scaling to see how on or off you are.
>>
>>7436585
Yeah drawing symmetrical/mirrored angle lines has always been a pain in my ass for whatever reason. Not sure how to remedy that.
>>
>>7436590
A lot of the sketches I had got erased/thrown out whenever I cleaned my desk. Bad habit of mine unfortunately. I generally try to go off the "thirds" rule and all that from Loomis and modify the proportions based on whatever reference.

what's the most amount of time you've spent on a single drawing?
>>
Idk what happened when I drew this face, looks super masculine.
>>
when new thread?
>>
speaking of that, how do you make yourself spend time on a drawing? I've noticed I can't draw a single thing for longer than thirty minutes
>>
>>7436610

Good question honestly, I remember spending a few hours sketching a face from reference/trying a portrait kinda, but the proportions/features were way off/didn't look like the person/were a bit wonky.

Sidenote: I still hate 4chans capcha system, wish it never became this slider shit

>I remember spending a few hours sketching a face from reference/trying a portrait kinda, but the proportions/features were way off/didn't look like the person/were a bit wonky.
and how frequently do you take more than an hour on a drawing, trying to push it to a "final" state (however off or not)?
>>
>>7436620
Not as much as I should, desu. I'm very inconsistent with practicing/drawing in general. Getting discouraged makes me drop it for a bit, and this isn't specific to drawing, happens with a lot of the things I do lol.

>>7436623

Desu? WTF? I was typing desu or w/e. Where the fuck did desu come from

The chin is too strong and the cheek needs to be rounder. Even for a male the cheek is too angular, as you need to take the cheek bone and jaw into account.

I can appreciate that. I used to get so discouraged that I stopped drawing altogether for a few years, but I gradually worked on my work ethic and now draw every day. I could be better about it, but I definitely started to notice improvements when I started doing longer drawings, 3+ hours say. that and doing master copies/studies. it can be hard, but it can be helpful to remind yourself that there will simply be moments of frustration, because you're not where you want to be skillwise; these things are unavoidable. but it is most advantageous to work through them, however poor the final result of a drawing is. doesn't mean every drawing needs to be 3+ hours, or that a majority of your drawings need to be. I would actually recommend the opposite, but certainly more than one longer drawing every three months, say, is in order. with master copies, you don't have to wonder what a good nose should look like from a front view, in profile, etc., because you would be choosing art that *you like*. obviously it's not like you're gonna magically become Raphael by studying him, but through repeated effort and getting advice from others, you can gradually make those improvements. progress in the short term is hardly discernable, but over an extended time can be quite clear and rewarding. always try to think long-term and what will aid your future self, not your immediate self.

How to draw without construction?
>>
>>7436713
W/ yo soul. I almost never use any construction, only for strange poses, such as twisting the torso around.
>>
>>7436713
start with contour, measure, and adjust your lines as needed
>>
>>7436582
This is good advice in general, but unless you are the king of howies, I'd say don't do dots but something more interesting. I'd fucking dread just copying random dots if I just wanted to learn how to draw. You're not gonna get this correct for months if not years if you're a complete beginner, and this is even more mind numbing than draw a box.
>inb4 draw stuff you like as well
Obviously, but some begs hyper focus on stuff like this and burn out. I should know, I was one of them.

you forgot human have necks, the size of hands is disproportionally large compared to the rest of the body and his hips <> legs dont show the usual anatomy landmarks. this piece feels like you used reference only for the belly and didnt pay attention to anything else. also penis has an opening at the tip, even with foreskin, next time put a dot or skin fold there for maximum coomer gains

A simplified figure should always have a more exaggerated pose than the realistic one.
