It isn't lost on me how retarded it is, but it has been working. The goal is to do this for 90 days to address my weak areas in draftsmanship then switch it to refining texture, color and composition. I'm not gonna jinx anything since this is the longest I've gone even when I fucking hate my life doing it. This is a screenshot of one of the studies I was proud of. I usually just delete them after but this was good. Anyways break is up, gl anon

What's the best way to get over this? It's especially rough because altering things that have been "good enough" with some things that could be fixed has invariably resulted in me screwing the whole thing up.

I'm looking for advice on using construction to get the right shape and proportion, or I guess building intuition for the right proportions. I'll often try to draw a character from reference, discover the head or something is way out of proportion, abandon my original construction and spend hours obsessively erasing and redrawing the same lines to try and match my reference. Do I just draw/copy more, or is there some more nuanced approach I'm missing?
>>
>>7440766
Thank you anon, good to see a fellow elf enjoyer
>>
>>7440722
I'd say focus on improving faces. They aren't bad, in fact I really like the eyes on their own. But you've reached a point where the wonky face anatomy becomes really noticable and takes away from the rest. I'd say you particularely struggle with placing both eyes correctly if you want to be even more specific.
Nice work otherwise, gmi.
>>7440771
Make a copy of that state and work on that. If trad, make a photo and keep working on the original I guess. Honestly, unless something is a finished piece, I don't see the point in fretting over "ruining" something. You're gonna forget you drew it a few weeks later anyway and probably be able to do it better at that point.
But also, don't try to spend a lot of time fixing stuff after you feel you are done. If it's something you know how to fix, do it, if you are just trying stuff, do it again and try it there.
>>7440776
Same advice here. Try to do it again, instead of trying to fix it from time to time. You don't need to always abandon ship, but trying again is much more beneficial in my experience.
>>
>>7440776
No answer, but I have this issue, too. It's especially bad when the construction isn't SO bad, but you try and fix it anyhow, and it winds up making it way worse. Would love a solution, as well.
>>
>>7440779
>Same advice here. Try to do it again, instead of trying to fix it from time to time. You don't need to always abandon ship, but trying again is much more beneficial in my experience.
This. No amount of constructive thinking in the world is enough to save a piece that has an error embedded deep or early in its creation.

His left eye (our left, not his) is kind of drifting off to the side. I can see what you were doing there, nestling each eye right above the cheekbone, which you did successfully both times, it's just that the left cheek/part of the face is too wide. Otherwise, looks really good!

Mine is called LifeUp Pro, its free with my Google play pass, but there are a lot of other free versions that look better. LifeRPG looks good and is free, you'll see a bunch when you look them up.

You need to actually 'play' by the rules you set, make attainable goals. Channel your inner austist and imagine you're a newbie in a game. Set up easy objectives at first, but have a long term goal, then as you get used to completing your easy objectives and earning points, increase the difficulty. You really have to be willing to 'play'. There's no sense in downloading it if you aren't going to 'play' by the rules you set. You'll feel extremely stupid and like it's pointless and retarded, but if you push past that and hold yourself accountable it's actually a really good but extremely autistic way of doing what a normal person would consider goal setting.

The horizon line appears to be right at the hairline of thje middle line guy so that means that everything below the horizon line we would be seeing much the shoes more angled from above than you've drawn them

you can probably change the pressure curve in krita or your pen drivers to accommodate for light use

Ha, funny, I study the same anime. I also study Samurai Champloo. I think it comes down to me really fucking with the shape language and sharp angles of the artists. It meshes well with what I want my own to be. I also like guilty gear, Vagabond, just really gestural. I say you study what will allow you to create what you want. Just because it's hard doesn't mean it's not worth it. You should ask yourself what draws you to these styles, what appeals the most to you, then try to capture the essence when creating your own style.

Huh, nice tip actually.
Don't know if it makes sense but i enjoy alot how ''grunge'' they look. Really stylish. CSM illustrations has that vibe too

You're right, it would be bad if i just copy their style.
>>
>>7441308
No
>>
Trying to fix this somehow.
>>
>>7441295
Identifying what appeals to you is the first step of studying a style. What exactly makes the style 'grunge' for you? Is it the hatch rendering? The muddied color palette? The line weight being jagged? The proportions? Are they lanky? What makes them look more mature? Etc. You pay attention to these things while copying, then you incorporate characteristics into your own drawings. Then before you know it, some things stick, you start being able to consistently create a style that appeals to you and boom, you got your signature style.
>>
>>7441308
We agreed that the beg thread should just be removed. It clogs up the board. Gets in the way of the daily AI and doomer threads.

>Are you a japanese island dog?
No but I'm 99.85% white so do not worry
>How did you come up with these anime heads?
I'll explain, but as I'm not very good, taking my advice might be harmful. Someone literally hurt their hand because of my advice, so I feel ashamed.
I found that anime heads require an incredible amount of space between the eyes, so if I want to make the eyes very big, the head has to be very wide. The wider the head, the smaller the jaw, and the chin angle becomes less acute until it becomes a blob.
I usually use the cylinder as the base shape, then I slap a goggle shape in the middle and that's basically it.
On the attached picture you can see the steps of me sketching 3 generic heads + a bonus picture I scribbled when I was bored.
I have a bad habit of drawing very small, so my drawings tend to be very simple.

It's part of a good art practice but just copying other artists art is not sufficient to train all of your skills to your maximum potential. You can learn different things by copying from other artists, copying from life, photos, 3d models etc., drawing from memory, drawing from imagination, creating new artworks. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.
So it depends on what type of art you want to make and what you enjoy doing.

Been really into Arms and Armor lately. I'll show my results later, but I'd like to know what you guys like to keep by you. Honestly I might even get a physical copy.
