Thread challenges
I haven’t drawn for fun or been here in a long time. What’s going on with this board these days
>>7728336accidentally just posted the ref
new character sheet started
Going to try redrawing something from almost exactly 2 years ago.
Coloring time
quote('7728322')I haven't linked to a previous comment in my roughly 10 years of browsing this site, so bear with me. To the anon requesting a good book about how to draw "big cowtits" I'd recommend taking a look at is called "How to Draw - Oppai (ポストメディア編集部)". I don't speak japanese, but in conjunction with any anatomy book, it should work fine. The main takeaway is to think about breasts as "big bags of warm yogurt", as my wife describes them, and that they are attached to the fibers on top of the Pectoralis major. Gravity plays a major role, especially in larger scales of fun-bags. Idunno, I haven't drawn a lot of huge tits yet, and this is whatever I remember off the top of my head.
The obsession with thin people baffles me. Put some meat on them bones, coomers.
>>7728356those tits dont look good
>>7728330Here's my attempt. My perspective is off, but that's okay. I might try to draw it again soon, but let's see.>>7728365Figures, though if I'm honest, I don't care about it until much later in my learning proces. Maybe in another 200-300 hours, I might attempt to do a deep dive into drawing them better. For now, eh.
>>7728359I am Fatphobic
Man, drawing hands is a fucking struggle.
>>7728412Some of these are decent, but it doesn't look like you're breaking them down into forms.
>>7728332bina!>>7728350keep going, I would toggle the old drawing off at this point if it were me.
>>7728415>but it doesn't look like you're breaking them down into formsI'm not sure if I follow you. I basically start with a crooked square representing the palm and work from there.
>>7728428a crooked square is a shape not a form, the anon that replied to you before was pointing out that you probably should use forms more when drawing these hands because they look flat (general mistakes aside)
>>7728330I need to suck it up and just spend a week grinding faces. Both from irl refs and from styles I like. But I need to push through a couple WiP's first.
>>7728330i bit more ass than i can chewplease include me in the next OP image thanks
>>7728448You suffer from trying to show off all of the face. That's why you tend to make the facial features too small and shy away from overlapping them, top of that you bend away the hair to accommodate your desire to show off "all of the face", good linecontrol though
I have had three (3) dreams about this deer faced bear thing this week, coming into my room, looking around, locking eyes with me, and leaving, which wakes me up, and I can't see figures when I draw anymore, only remember the dream. I blame melatonin but also weird that I would dream the same thing multiple times.
>>7728454looks straight up mythicalvery interestingi wanna be able to paint my dreams, thats one of my objectives with artbut the dreams i wanted to paint were a decade ago so i think of getting back into lucid dreaming soon are you into lucid dreaming?
>>7728457I'm not necessarily into lucid dreams per se but I do have a high amount (idk what the baseline is) of sleep paralysis dreams and/or "movie dreams" or dreams that to me, feel high fidelity and memorable. Most of the sleep paralysis dreams are pretty generic though, the meme of the sleep paralysis demon just standing next to you is real, and I have some drawings (much worse) of those dreams, but they really just amount to a 7ft tall blue glowing 99 year old grandma lurking in the door or an actual green glowing golem standing next to the bed, that kind of thing. I've learned to interact with the dream though and will attack the sleep paralysis demon, actually last week I lashed out and stubbed my toe against the wall where I kicked one. Other dreams are just random scenes, last month I had weirdly high definition dreams of being an East Asian (?) soldier in what I think was a Taiwanese or Chinese platoon, doing a foot patrol, and blowing up. Don't know why, I'm not Asian and idc about wars. The deer bear is the first non human thing I've dreamt up though which is probably why it sticks with me. Tldr eat melatonin gummies and wash down with chamomile tea and hold onto your butt
>>7728332Damn damn hard for a /beg, but I gave it a try.Redlines welcome!I tried to measure, to use negative space etc etc, but I guess I'm really too green. Still, won't surrender and keep up
Am I good enough for intermediate?
>>7728470Nigger, fucking draw bigger or crop your canvas, 70% of the image is white.Cute Hat Kid tho. Keep on /beg/ging.
>>7728440I see. I'll try to use your advice, although I'm not sure if it's going to help me.
>>7728332I think it turned out okay. On an unrelated note, I fucking hate drawing feet. I guess that's next on the agenda. Thanks for the challenge, anon.
>>7728478Wow
>>7728472Cezanne taught us that the world is made of spheres, cylinders, boxes, and cones. It's too hard to draw the world as it appears on the surface. Break objects down into spheres, cylinders, boxes, and cones, and study how those forms come together to make the objects we see. This is the easiest way to learn how to draw.
>>7728448I get what you're going for, and I love the clothes and overall construction. The face, however, needs some tweaking, especially her left eye (right-most one). It looks copy-pasted, and that's not exactly how eyes work. Try looking at portraits from real people, that will help in your execution of stylized subjects.
>>7728460I thought you can only get em in pills
>>7728466draw simpler stuff already. you wont get better if you dont listen to advice you old fool. you shouldve gone for the geometrical challenge
>>7728466I'm not trying to be mean, but redlining this would be a bit pointless, honestly. You need to work on 3D forms before trying to tackle the human figure in a major sense. You can learn it as you go, like I've tried to do, but at some point you'll have to learn it. Everything is geometry, and learning that is extremely important.
>>7728505The geometrical one is bathshit insane this time, this looked way easier
just for fun so not going to be too hard on myself
>>7728480Thanks, man. I really enjoy this specific pencil brush immensely, and it really feels great to use. After couple of more drawings, I should probably fix my feet situation and study some feet. I won't want to be lacking in that area, and it's something I've completely forgotten about.
>>7728332challenge
>>7728508You are surly l right, damn.I really should try to give more to basics, but drawing boxes would make me insane... Any suggestions?
I've wasted the last seven years of my life and I'm still /beg/.>pywFUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFFFFFFFFFTh-there's no time like the present to get it together right...?
>>7728521Cute
>>7728332keep doing the thing where I don't actually look at the ref, ugh. too imagination brained

I can't do anything, I can't draw hands and heads, disgusting children draw better
How do I crop the canvas on FireAlpaca? Also, my ugee tablet keeps doing this retarded thing where every time I press the pen down, it switches to the eraser. I keep having to unplug it and plug it back in when it does that.
>>7728549Nevermind I figured it out.
>>7728527And this is how to kill the thread challenge in your own style
Here's a cleaned up version. Have I missed anything?

>>7728513I remember seeing your work when I really began drawing a year ago. It's so recognizable, and your linework is both chaotic and beautiful.>>7728571Love the simplicity of it. Great work.
>>7728332
>>7728523I went the route of copying Hampton's work while I scribbled cylinders in perspective in my notebook. Boxes aren't good for practice, as you'll quickly realize how limiting it is. Forcing yourself to draw cylinders exercises you to think more in terms of both volume and perspective.
>>7728606thanks
The sweat is only visible if I look closely. I tried drawing the pearls of sweat larger but it looked wrong.
>>7728624Those wings don't look right to me.
>>7728634Her arms are her wings, this picture illustrates it better.
I drew this character how I imagined they would look naked using a clothed reference. What do you think?
>>7728647Here is the original clothed reference
>>7728647my man went to brazil for a buttlift
>>7728587There is no permabegschizo. Just a boogie man in their heads.
>>7728332An attempt was made.
Hi, my name is Scarfy. This is my OC Tyranna. She is very cool. Let me know if you'd like to see more of my artwork
>>7728606thank you!!!
>>7728649Is the butt drawn badly?
pls r8, especially the armpit area.Am very bad at doing boobs and I peaked for a lot of refs to make them at lease passable
>>7728663I love the composition, and it's going to look great. You do have a solid idea of what needs to go where, but you're short a good amount of muscle groups. I'm away from my pc, but I found this infographic explaining it.
>>7728617I'll try to add that stuff to routine, but it really doesn't sound like fun stuff lol
>>7728667I was bored out of my mind the first couple of months, too. It's worth it, if you are applying what you learn onto something that's not just cylinders. Think of copying as work (Hampton, Bridgman, etc.) and cylinders as relaxation. That worked for me.
>>7728336
>>7728655You need to work on foreshortening. Knees her right shin are twice as short has her left, and she's got no right thigh bone. When bending down, knees are almost always the same height if the feet are placed near eachother. Nice lines, tho.
sorry for posting a lot today, it's been a while since I just drew a bunch.
>>7728670Can I see some of your exercises? I'm pretty curious
>>7728647every time you post something i unironically physically gag at it
>>7728650>>7728587He is a meme. Like the gains goblin of /fit/ he never existed.
>>7728699Yeah, sure. I'm >>7728478 and I've already posted an overview of my journey throughout the year, though I'm already a page or two ahead of this. A lot of my cylinder exercises are physical, so it's gone for good, sadly. Nevertheless, here it is again, just in case you're curious as to why I recommend doing the work.
>>7728707>This good in a yearIt is over for me.
>>7728665Better? Latisimus Dorsi goes into between Tricep and Bicep
>>7728710It is possible, but I keep telling people, besides working out and reading a book here or there and printing minis (which is a pretty hands-off experience), I've done nothing else. Quitting social media, especially not watching YouTube videos about vapid whatever, has made the biggest difference. I only browse 4chan and such for shits and giggles inbetween drawing sessions in my spare time.
>>7728703there is a little bit of PBS in all of us I think
>>7728713Looks much better, but the deltoid is in a retraction state. Drawing it slightly more deflated will help a ton. Otherwise, finish the damn drawing, and be sure to post it. Looking forward to it.
Upscaled the sprites some more, debatedly.
more doodle slop
I wasnt happy with my Sarada drawing i posted in the last thread. I wanted a more interesting angle, so i did this one.
>>7728724But the face and the hand looked very off, so i redraw it again...I like it more now, but im not sure if its worth it.
>>7728724>>7728726The new one looks better. More natural pose and better expression.
>>7728715i sometimes get the urge to try and cut away any of the stuff that can cut into drawing time but i still really like stuff like vidya, movies/tv shows and such since i find them valuable for inspiration... but then it's not like i get that much time to actually use such for inspiration
should i study value groupings from anime or real life if i want to draw animekinda hard to find lit anime clothes and shit to study from desu
>>7728731Do an art study of like Yoh Yoshinari or whoever has an artbook.
>>7728719Thanks, I'll try to finish this.like this? Green dot is where Clavicle ends
>>7728730Videogames are a definite massive time sync. The reason why I chose to begin drawing was me finishing a match in Hell Let Loose and I noticed my time played at 300+ hours. I then researched other games like Dota, Counter-Strike, etc. to have a gander at what amount of time other people have played games. Some of them were in the five digits, 10.000 up to 20.000 hours. That was when I decided to not become that, complaining about useless balance patches and frame-rates. I sometimes wonder what my life would have been like if I began drawing earlier and weren't so discouraged every time I picked up a pencil, but it's like when I quit smoking; don't think about what have happened, think about what you are going to make happen today and the day after that.
>>7728743Exactly, fella. Looks great.
A Brontosaurus girl. Her name is Buron
I'm so tired of anime heads. I don't think I'm really grasping the form.
>>7728763>omg guise look at my good work and tell me that I am not bad, please!!
>>7728766It is bad thougheverbeit. I've been at it for a month and it's not clicking. I remove the reference and still can't draw it at differing angles except front, profile and 3 quarters.Meanwhile you get people who can draw this effortlessly.
>>7728758I wanna say the neck is bad but I remembered it's a brontosaurus girl. But also, clearly, a fetish piece, which you've communicated well. The brontosaurus isn't really coming out too strongly save for the neck.
>>7728769>omg bweehhhh I have drawn for a full month and I am way better than most of the board but I am still worse than pro mangakas bweeehhhhhhhhhhShut up.

>>7728813Gestures the way to go, even if it seems counterintuitive to the main goal of working on proportions. It will teach you how to see flow and capturing angles of motion. Replication is the most important part of the process.>>7728837I'm aiming for two hours a day, and if I have any more spare time than that, I make use of it. I remember to take breaks inbetween each hour of just shy of ten minutes, drinking water and a cup of coffee, maybe. That's the time I browse this site and such. Some days are more busy than others, but a 10 minute study is worth 10 times more than nothing. I don't beat myself up about it if I don't reach 2 hours a day, though. Also, having a goal for each session is a must. If I don't feel "inspired" an hour of copying Hampton or Bridgman usually gets me going. That, and refs.

I particularly enjoy deconstructing the featured artist, and gathering whatever information I can learn from copying their works.>>7728928It seems like it, but for every drawing there, I've probably had to draw that two or three times. One head study could be repeated for hours until I could get my head wrapped around what I was looking at. It was very much a brawn instead of brain approach in the beginning, and I wouldn't recommend it. It almost sucked all the fun out of drawing, but I'm glad I stuck with it. The thing to remember is, this is merely a snapshot, and I have had to do countless of drawings, physically and digitally beforehand. The image shows one of my early successes from May. I didn't know what made it good, but I knew it was a step in the right direction. I was still very much relying on art style over skills, but a success is a success. I'm a bit sad about the fact I didn't save too much of my earlier works (the ones in dark grey) as they should be roughly 2/3 of the total sum of everything I've ever made, especially the sucky line drawings. How do you guys approach tracing in terms of studying? How do you stop it from being a crux overtly relied on?
>>7729089tracing is good to practice lineweight
>>7729089For a copy study I'll trace the reference once to get a basic idea of what's going on but after that I think it's best to copy without tracing
>>7729090But like, is it good for other things too, or a waste of time?>>7729092Thanks
>>7729093If you're hopeless trying to copy something and can't get it right, tracing can help you see what proportion you're doing wrongSo no, it's not a waste of time

Balancing 40hr/week work, social life, and art is hard man. Any fellow sleep-deprived wagecucks here? Posting a page of today’s Reilly studies. It’s really helped me understand how eyes sit in a face.
>>7729105Anything you've done so far, anon. You can become super good if you just draw while having fun
>>7729107those look beautiful anon, great job especially with a full time job

>>7729107Right here anon. Been trying to art between my job, obligations, and trying to keep fit. It is rare that I have an evening where I still have the energy for art.
>>7728332enjoy some beginner cringe. i think is my first attempt at a non-anime/cartoon character.
>>7729114You tried to draw non-anime and drew a wojak insteadJokes aside, you should practice construction more. Good to see no chicken scratching.
>>7729112Finding the energy is crazy difficult, especially when your job is mentally or physically draining. I've been trying to treat it as chill time. I try to think of all the times I was exhausted from work and still played video games for 6 hours--drawing is much more worth the effort.
>>7729115i haven't checked out many fundamentals yet, but i will start. usually i try and attempt stuff on my own first with art/skills. fundamentals make more sense to me that way.

>>7729142>metal gearThis made me laugh a little, its metal slug .
Would anyone have any crits on this Oc? I’m kinda unsure of the legs and needs some overall adjustments but would like to hear what others think
>>7729145>its metal slugYeah I know. As I was typing I was thinking back on my childhood where I used to mix up their names all the time. I guess my errant thought influenced my typing. RiP.>>7729147Sick
>>7729147The design draws a ton of attention to the upper body area so the legs don't matter too much, if you want to give the impression that she's fast/quick on her feet then keep them unarmoredI like the scytheThe armor itself is pretty neat. Heads as shoulder guards goes hard as though they're spitting/choking up the arms which helps the demonic aesthetic you're going for hereCrown itself is kind of hard to notice, her horns are taking up all the space/attention so it could use work to bring it out moreExperiment with other colors like paint or gemstones to help make it more distinctive
>>7729147She looks badass but maybe a bit generic. "Demon girl with scythe" has been done 10000 times. I do like her armor, and her mouth being a third bleeding eyeball, that shit is creepy. You could lean into that, like she's something beyond comprehension wearing a human costume.
>>7728611sovl what medium is this?
Can't sleep.
>>7728332I fucked up the face but I have to get back in the wage cage now. Might try again later.
>>7728984I remember yours too! And there's no to be sad about the loss. It's just a good 100 A5 ages of me not being able to draw cubes and cylinders on paper, and a good amount of digital drawings. I'm not too attached to what was, but I'm more excited about what's next, if that makes sense?Learning how through observation has definitely been the best learning experience for me. Reading books about drawing really helped me more than what I could have imagined.>>7728975I still don't feel like I get it 100 percent, and there's going to be a good while before I do grasp it. The nice part is, it's all about capturing the action of a pose, so doing your best is enough.
Never tried doing a portrait before, used the actor from the first STALKER game as ref. Failed to capture his likeness but like how the eyes turned out.
>>7729178do you just try to copy everything from the books? i'm going through hampton's right now and i don't know if i should just like attempt to copy all of those gesture examples after he talks about S and C lines etc.
>>7729169Drawing my favorite character from memory, enough.
Can anyone give advise on how to know when to stop noodling and just accept that you're at your limit and move on from a part? It's taken liek 4 hours to get to this point and 30 of that is just on coloring the fucking arm.
>>7729185I'd recommend doing every gesture he presents in his books, and especially be mindful of how he uses both the S and C curves. It will Definitely become important later in the book when working with overlapping forms. I found it extremely helpful.
>>7729195thanks... my first attempts were pretty bad >>7728997 not my first time doing gestures but still feel like i fail to get it
Can someone give me a book on how to color, render, shade, etc? There is literally 0 Loomis level books to learn how to do those things I cannot find one
>>7729198You're way ahead of me, and you can actually find these in my image near the top, just for comparison. Your lines are better than what mine were. Continue this way, and you'll get it quickly, believe me. It's going to be boring at times, but you can make it, and at some point it will "click".
>>7729136One of the best. Nice work, anon.
>>7728943Damn, it's hard to understand the path you went through this way, but I'll try to take bigger seriously those abstract challenges
>>7729003Thank you anon. I got tunnel visioned and forgot the center line I placed down.
>>7728953Oh i loved Ringo and tried to draw her too...It's a beautiful work mate
>>7729215It's a bit wonky, yeah. I'm a teacher by trade, an arts history teacher believe it or not. It's a bit like being a critic vs an actual artist, as I've always enjoyed consuming art in all forms, from classics to contemporary. The irony was, I studied the arts in order to teach but without any ability to recognise the work behind the pieces, like a hypocrite. If you've ever seen a movie made by a movie critic (critical drinker being an extremely entertaining example of sheer incompetence) then you'll know what I mean. There are lots of other examples, like a gamer but cannot make games, etc. I made a study plan for myself, like I would my own students, and stuck to it. My goal is to teach others the skills to make stuff themselves, as I do highly enjoy teaching others what I know. For now, that means learning how to draw, then composition, colors and such will come at a later point.
>>7729107Here. Just woke up after another night of not enough sleep and now I need to quickly get ready for work. Finding the time is hard, but it's worth it. Really nice faces anon.
>>7729190Cute Suss
This is my first time doing one of these thread challenges. What a complete shitshow. Spent an hour on the eyes and facial features and then realized that I have absolutely no idea how to draw hair. Was feeling cocky after a couple of anatomy studies, and it's right back to the valley of despair.
I made this shit with a mouse
>>7729228Interesting life story.
>>7729228And is everything you do a study or a copy?Anything original? Anything that barely used reference? Do you have anything you want to illustrate?
It is really fucking depressing seeing the talentfags get good within a year or less posting amidst the permabegs and other dregs who draw squiggly shit with no foundations, fundamentals, skill or even straight fucking lines. Its like seeing prime George Foreman killing a special eds classroom full of spastics.Like holy fuck. Seeing someone able to draw what they want, how they want and with skill and talent next to some fucker drawing some shitty scribbled messy kid getting his dick cut off who has invested 5 more years than the talentfag's mere months is fucking depressing.Just proof that some are born for it and some are permabegs.
Here's to another page filled with finished drawings and a couple of studies. Some of it good, alot of it bad. Onto the next page's subject: Just feet.>>7729247It has it's ups and downs like any other job, but it's a living, as they say.>>7729242brilliant work on the face, though tthe volume on the legs are a bit off. Nice feet, which is better than I can say. It's nice to feel cocky after a few studies, that way you'll test yourself to see, what you need to focus on. If you want to draw better hair, I advice you to not stick too closely to the subject. It's all about getting the flow right. An interesting drawing is better than a true 1:1, otherwise you might as well just take a screenshot. Again, great work.>>7729243If you're going to use a mouse, maybe take a look at Inkscape. It was one of the programs I tried out in the beginning, and it's got some pretty decent features for linework with a mouse, I believe.>>7729250I do have a childhood dream of producing my own comics and such. That would be cool, and it's something I can do in my spare time. At this point, producing a lot of original works can bog you down, a /beg/ trap if you will, though I do have some. I guess it stems from my classical idea of how to go about learning the subject. It's always a good idea to work from a ref, and producing original works are more performative than anything else, learning-wise. It will happen next year, I've told myself. I'm in the works of a couple of scripts, a couple of them outlined from start to finish, and I'm in the talks with some friends that are writers to collab on a few of them.
>>7729253>Inkscape I might give it a try since linux isn't made for drawfagging
Not a lot of progress but I think I at least figured the legs out. Had to use the 3d model because I am not flexible enough to sit like that lmao
I really need to work faster... 40 minutes of this was fucking around with rulers, but still that's pretty bad for the result>>7729243fuck yeah anon
>>7729254If it's purely drawing you want to do, like what I mostly do, then I can recommend Krita, as it works on Linux natively. I'd also recommend getting a drawing tablet. I've tried a couple, and so far the Gaomon MK10 Pro is a pretty decent budget choice, though I'm sceptical on how well it works on Linux. I'm upgrading to a Wacom Intous Pro Large 2013. I found it for 40 bucks almost unused. Check ebay listings for cheap, high quality tablets.
The worst part about drawing stuff digitally is that the outcome looks way worse than the sketch
>>7729264raise the stability on ur lineart brush and look into lineweight
>>7729265I may have to use another software like kinta since the drawing program that i'm using now is basically a shitter version of ms paint
>>7729261>Check ebay listings for cheap, high quality tablets.Seeing cheap drawing tablets on ebay is like seeing baby shoes never worn. Oh how many /beg/s gave up.
>>7729268Originally I was going to buy a drawing tablet from some shitty store like best's buy but buying one on ebay is way better
>>7729264Paint will definitely test your skills, but there are much better alternatives out there.
>>7729268It's one of those "If I have a good drawing tablet, I can draw super good!" situations, and having too much disposable income. It makes me sad for them, and I'm glad I stuck with my Gaomon, truly. I can't wait to try out a screenless Wacom tablet. The pen will be magical to hold onto, as I'm pretty sick of sleek designs on iPads and other modern tablets.
>>7728829You'll learn more by using that as a reference that than any "anime" skull.
>>7729284>It's one of those "If I have a good drawing tablet, I can draw super good!" situations, and having too much disposable income.Partially me, I spent like a cumulative 800 bucks on drawing-related tech despite barely being /beg/. My excuse is that I'm also a tech guy and I enjoy drawing enough to make the money spent worthwhile.Having pricy tech doesn't make you better, but it doesn't make you worse either, and as long as you actually make use of your stuff you'll get your money's worth out of it eventually.
>>7729286Nothing wrong with being a techie person. I'm switching to Linux soon as well, and I will always praise iPads to the sky, even though I also own a Teclast Artpad pro for reading graphic novels and books. I used to be a big BlackBerry fanatic, so I get it. Expensive stuff is gives more headroom to grow, which is also important to remember.
>>7729284>I can't wait to try out a screenless Wacom tablet. Not to shill but having had an intous art since 2016/17 and now an intous pro they really are great. Only funky thing is that the pro has some drivers issues here and there but nothing that I couldnt't fix by simply turning my pc on and off.
>>7729284Bought a One By Wacom and it's been a huge upgrade compared to Deco 01 dogshit I had, JUST for the pen alone. The pen is so sensitive it picks up every autistic little tap or fast movements I throw at it. I'm using a PS4 controller sideways on my left hand for shortcuts, fuck the dumbass express keys I ain't splurging for the Intuos to get four.
>>7728336I surrender.
>>7729291Wonky driver issues are a given with Gaomon, so I'm pretty used to it by now. Still, thanks for the heads up.>>7729297I do prefer screenless tablets, and the Wacom one was a definite contender. Still, I wanted touch features such as mouse control, as I keep having to swing my arm around to control my mouse for finer movements. Getting a larger one was just because of the listing and not out of any need for bigger work area. I too find express keys to be a massive gimmick, and I prefer using custom options such as controllers, but I mostly stick to keyboards.
>>7729301I probably couldn't get used to drawing on glass or whatever because of the surface, also the insane cost. Plus on the screenless tab I found out it's much better to fuckin tape a piece of paper over it so it's not plastic on plastic violence, it helps to reduce annoying screeches or gliding when it's bare.
I'm working on a comic, is this good so far
watched too much creepy shit before bed and now i can’t sleep
>>7729165Just cheap watercolors. Everything looks green cuz of it.
>>7729304Looks very colorful and unique. Keep it going, man.
>>7729193work on the entire piece equally. My process is to sketch everything, then drop local colors, then do some blocky rough shading, then dive in to smooth that shading, then details.Don't polish a single arm for 4 hours, work everything up together until you decide it's good enough to stop.
>>7729182for a first it's great stuff

>>7728332>>7728466>>7728505>>7728508>>7728707>>7729228Had to try it again. I was too unhappy of my first try. It's not much better but I can say I put more effort in it
I can't draw, I hate it, neither my hands nor my head are still working, I hate drawing, I'm tired of it all, the vile people here continue to ignore /beg/ and give advice to those above them, hateful cattle
Does anyone know any perspective grids for paperbros? I know you can use basically anything in CSP or Photoshop, but since I draw mainly for myself and on 11x17 paper I was kind of picturing a few plastic sheet perspective grids that you can just put underneath your drawing page to block out the perspective for a particular scene or drawing. I was thinking to just go into CSP (you can do it all for free iirc) and use the tools to create a few large images, basically like 6 or 7 different perspectives (worm eye, bird eye, 1 point center/left/right, etc) and seeing if I could have it printed but idk.
>>7729353Looks much better, anon. I can tell you spend more time on it, and despite it still lacking volume, it's a much better piece. Keep at it.
>>7729389I'm experimenting with other style too after seeing great content from other anons... It's fun!
Choose a /beg/ head. Bonus points if you can guess the character right.
>>7729402c.c.8but why do it like this also what's the point of the headcircle guidelines if you completely ignore them
>>7728749Here's progression. Head, hands and bigger boba. I made new boobs without looking at refs and i feel that its something wrong with them but can't tell what.
>>7729411Quick size change for the arms (ignoring the swords) They are too small and the far one is really not connected to the shoulder
>>7729420Yeah, that looks really fucking cool, anon! It's going to be tits, pun intended.
What do you think of the rendering, specifically the hair
Hot damn, my Intous Pro L from 2013 just arrived a day early. It's big, but oh my. It's such a better experience overall. The biggest difference is the touch feature. That really makes a difference.
>>7728581its only pedo when you imagine yourself as the older woman, which is very weird for you to do
>>7729434The right side ear looks really wacky.
>>7729411Thank you for your feedback! I want to bring my reasoning behind current arms position and proportions. The length of upper arm bone is the same as length of rib cage (as it should). The end of left (from our perspective) clavicle goes deep behind, so bobs basically covers that deltoid muscle. Also the position the shoulders this way helps with the "line of action" that matches one of the swords (pale pink line)
>>7729284I'm glad I got into oil painting before I dropped 1K on a mobile studio. My xp-pen 12 is still kicking and working for me

>>7729411>>7729420
Have you ever made a decent drawing, and then thought >I don't know how I did this, I'll never be able to do this again. Because that's what I'm feeling right now
Sorry that you guys see this for the xth time, but what are ways to improve values? How do you even draw values with a pencil?
>>7729486Forgot image
>>7729478I do. The whole of April to May was a blur of confusion. Case in point, this was my first true successful drawing, and I had no idea how to replicate it, but it kept happening if I was really focused. I'm glad I decided to draw it that day, I was on the brink of giving up, and that tipped the scales for me to continue. It's all about the smaller victories.
>>7729486switch to a penpencils are fucking gayyou need a different type for each you cant do it all with a single pencilget a pen and learn to hatchyou can achieve with the same effect and is a lot more beginner friendly get one of those point pen for artists, some come really cheap, but a simple pen also does it

>>7729329Thanks, I figured it would turn out worse since I've been mostly doing copy-studies of random asian shit. Half assed the lips, nose ain't right and realized the eye on the left was slightly out of alignment 10 minutes later. No wonder people take breaks, flip the image and stuff to avoid getting used to seeing the mistakes.
warm ups.. prob won't finish them because my pen died as you can see..
I drew heads, I looked closely, I observed, I tried, I tried to understand these angles, etc. Still, it's all crap. How do I draw these heads, how do I draw hands? How the fuck, tell me?
>>7729514You better finish these, or I swear on me mum, I'll be a little sad about it.
>>7729497what is this thing youre drawing
>>7729519I'll see if I have another pen the same size.. I don't have a heavy grip so I don't understand why they're breaking. I may just be using them too much and they're running out of ink quickly
>>7729517Studying heads as a complete subject is a culmination of whatever you've learned. Breaking things down into manageable segments is what's needed, and in order to do that, you need to have a concept of how the individual elements play together, both in relation to eachother and how they are warped by perspective. Try drawing a box in the shape of a nose, and you'll see my point.
>>7729253Thanks for the feedback anon, it was actually your attempt that inspired me to try the challenge myself. Legs are a bit of a weakness for me, I haven't done any leg studies yet, so I don't really have a strong understanding of the forms. I guess leg studies will be on today's agenda then. Hair is tough for me, I haven't done eye or lip studies either, but I can just draw what I see and it works out as long as I spend enough time on positioning and proportion. Hair is too detailed and fine for that, so I need to find a way to simplify or stylize it that I'm happy with as opposed to just winging it.
>>7729525Look at this crap, I can’t properly center the head, draw the eyes, nose, lips, it will be easy when there is a normal head, how the fuck can I make a normal head out of these balls, how can I draw this crap from different angles?
How the fuck do you center these heads? How do you make a normal forehead, not too big and not too fucking small?
>>7729253I studied this same book a year ago and nothing came out except this crap>>7729517, how you center your heads, how the fuck, how you straighten out your fucking foreheads
>>7729520red - Coracobrachialisyellow - Latisimus Dorsiblue - Biceppurple - Tricep
How to understand and do these damn head angles, the scum and rottenness with talent doesn't even think about it and draws everything at once with their lousy hands
>>7729543>Coracobrachialisit doesnt flare out like that, the way you drew it it looks like it's origin is the sternum
>>7729517
>>7729547Stab yourself, scum
I tried drawing Rebecca Miyamoto from Pani Poni Dash but she ended up looking like a generic blonde anime girl.
The dog's spawn laughs instead of answering, and then will complain that I call others names, you vile scum.
>>7729434rendering's good
>>7728763How do you draw these fucking heads?
>>7729544The only reason I can draw a passable head is because I've quite literally drawn it over a thousand times by now. The middle line of the circle is roughly the top of the brow. Then you determine where to place the chin (eyeballing it at this point), and at the halfway point between those two is the lowest part of the nose. Halfway between the lowest part of the nose and the lowest part of the chin is the middle line of the mouth's placement. A the halfway point between the lowest part of the nose and the top part of the brow is the lowest part of the eye socket. It took me forever to figure that out. Placing the rest of it has become like drawing "connect the dots" games on the backside of a cereal box. Just take it slow and don't draw faster than your mind can calculate.
>>7729568"Eternity" (year) heh, thanks for not calling me names and not wishing me death like the local bastards who only respond if you offend them
>>7729543Shouldn't the bicep slightly eclipse the lats? Not by much, just a small extension of the lower blue bicep line so that it's in front of lats?
Art can't be censored
>>7729570Don't worry, dude. I'm a teacher by trade. Whatever you think of the people on 4chan, real life can be so much worse. Growing thick skin is a part of the job description. I've been called a faggot because the student was (literally) mentally retarded and couldn't understand why he was gay. To me, it's just funny.
Here's a new set of /beg/ heads. Can you guess the character? >>7729406>c.c.Correct. I must be doing something right if you can recognize the character. I am not trying to ignore the circles but when I draw on my tablet I have trouble controlling lines unless I zoom in and if I do that it becomes harder to control proportions plus I am still learning how to use the circle.
>>7729517youre permabeg schizo right?
>>7729575I just started to hate most people here, I know that people are shit and rotten creatures everywhere, both here and irl

>>7729591Dude go talk to your imam or something
>>7729579I'm on my phone, and it's raining like crazy outside while I'm out walking, but your jaw bone is way too narrow. Just because we recognize a character, does not mean it's a success, sorry to be the one to tell you. It means you've got the characteristics, not the construction, correct. Here's a sketch made using my finger to show what you're doing wrong. Your heads are too wide, they look like a light bulb. Try making the jaw wider. It's called "iconography" and thats the reason I can draw a shit mouse using threw circles and a triangle.
>>7729602The local scum has stopped talking and giving advice, the offspring of whores can now occasionally make sarcastic remarks, you talk to these beasts
>>7729496Don't listen to this clown. Mastering a pencil will make your future works(values) easier.
Pretty happy with the progress I’ve made this week. Decided to reward myself today by drawing for fun instead of grinding.
>>7729517You can’t just chicken scratch Loomis heads over and over and expect to get better. You have to understand why those proportions exist, and how certain parts of the face interact in 3 dimensions, (e.g. how the eye sits in the eye socket). People in these threads say “you have to draw fast” and it’s just not true when you’re trying to learn. Take your time and think about the relationships of different parts of the face as you draw them.As a side note, Loomis is great but you should try drawing front-facing Reilly heads, they really help you understand the musculature of the face better.
>>7729623When you posted your attempts, everyone praised you, when I posted my heads, everyone was silent, even if they were better, these creatures would be silent, I can’t draw heads like that, I tried for a long time to understand the head

how do i fill up the empty space with what i got? or should i just draw some random bullshit shit there. id rather not tho
Attempted the same head >>7729615 from side view. I think eyes are too big, no?
>>7729671Dammit
>>7729671why did you post it sideways anon?
>>7729651thanks!
>>7729673It’s easier for me to snap a pic with my phone and post on 4chan mobile, but 4chan puts it sideways unless you crop beforehand. Not sure why this is.
>>7729671>>7729672theres several issues,1. its too big yes2. its too close to the nose bridge. eyes are a bit sunken into the face, not thtt close to the nose bridge3. its too high>>7729676ah i think because 4chan removes the exif data. i didnt know that either until an anon here pointed that out to me.
>>7729669Just move them all a little closer and crop it
more awkward hampton gesture studies>>7729672the other anon made some good points but another thing is the shape of the eyes. since it's a side profile they should shaped more triangular/diamond-like. take a look at the second reference from >>7728332 for an example
>>7729657Fucking brilliant, dawg. Keep it going and make it to the finish line. Nice work on the rendering, too.
>>7729681hmm yeah but i dont like how that cuts off certain parts that i drew well i feel like :(might insert something small in the space left and see how that looks
>>7729686Not awkward. They look good, they are better than mine were, which is great. you got some very clean lines, anon. Well done.
>>7729686What's the point of these 'gesture drawings' some artists do? is it just to imbue 'directionality' in figures? when I try to draw figures I just try to copy the pose exactly as it is and put it to paper, but I see a lot of riffraff about directionality and making the figure look dynamic. Is that a necessity for good figure drawing?
>>7729696
wip
>>7729678>>7729686Thanks anons, looks much better
>>7729661>>7729690For the record, this is being done by another anon, not the original author of the drawing.
>>7729693Stop lying, these are just sketches, nothing more, I tried to draw the head, the same crap as before, I'm tired of it
>>7729714Spend two hours instead of 7 minutes on a drawing and it'll look better. Try spending a literal hour just on measuring out the proportions and you'll see a huge improvement. Why does every anon lamenting their poor ability post drawings that are rushed? I'll let you think on the answer yourself.
Notes for the anatomy?
>>7729716What else can I improve here? I don't know, I see the discrepancy, but I can't fix it, it's what it is.

I just can't ever get eyes right. is there some magic trick to progress drawing eyes quick?
>>7729725I draw crap, I'm worse than many here, I hate drawing and I want to draw properly, what do you want? I'm so upset about everything that I don't care anymore, I don't want to and can't draw what I wanted, I can't even make normal attempts, look at this crap.
>>7729714You draw frantic and without confidence. You’re putting down 10 lines down hoping and praying one of them will look good. I seriously recommend putting on some chill music and taking deep breaths and just drawing big, bold lines. Take your time with it. Doing this will cause you to make mistakes that you can actually recognize and then you will learn from them. But if you just scratch random bullshit everywhere you won’t even know what you’re doing wrong.
>>7729726pyw> is there some magic trick to progress drawing eyes quick?no
>>7729727>I don't want toThen... leave? What do I want? What the fuck do you want anon?
Are there any videos/tutorials out there that show the Loomis method but actually show variations to it instead of drawing the same fucking generic head? Every video I've come across, except maybe 2, only show drawing a generic head and no real variations.
>>7729732You are a great teacher, thank you for the good advice, many students are grateful to you
>>7729726I felt the same way and then I drew a few faces with the Reilly method and now I kinda understand it. I would draw pages of eyes without thinking of how they actually fit into a face. You basically have to think about eyes as a 3D form or they’ll always look static and flat at best and uneven and goofy at worst.
>>7729736many people would be saved if they knew when to let go.Low IQ -> settle for small things.
>>7729736What are you fucking 7? Do I need to compel you to draw, like it's a chore for you? Get a grip and quit being a whiny faggot, there's your lesson.
>>7729726>>7729737I should add there’s a YouTuber called “Art By Galen” I found who has a couple phenomenal Reilly face tutorials where he explains the relations and intersections. Helped me a LOT
>>7729738I would like to repeat the words of your students when they hear this from you, you rotten thing
How tf does the Reilly method translate to drawing different faces? That budda monk looking example I constantly see doesn't really explain much.
>>7729496>>7729607??? Now what? Using a pen can look good like picrel, but it also looks like it will take 10x the time. I personally prefer using a pencil because I can do construction lines and somehow add values.
>>7729739anon dont bother with this russian faggot, he will never successfully draw, your words are wasted on him. many anons here have tried to help him, its an endless discussion that will soon turn into him calling you a dog, cattle, or a nit. or all of those.
>>7729747You bastards didn't advise anything.
The talented scum , learned to draw in a year and now she bullies others, the creature
>>7729745You don’t want to use the Reilly method to draw faces, you want to use it to study the relationships of facial proportions and musculature. It basically simplifies the planes of a face in a rhythmic, smooth manner instead of the blockiness of Loomis. So you can apply your knowledge of those planes to Loomis (when you’re trying to draw something that isn’t the Buddha) and have a more natural looking face.
Another head drawing
Would pay to see permabegschizo melt down with the newest and most talented talentfag.
>>7729746really? it does take more time?I imagine fucking around with 5 types of pencils AND not knowing how to use them take way more time...that is if you actually want to work on it properly pencils are advanced toolsand you need like 5 types of them to properly deliver shadows where they supposed to be you can achieve the same with a pen in one fifth of the time, you just have to learn to hatch, distance the lines properly to make it work
>>7729714I'm not lying, don't know why I should be. Got nothing to gain. And you're not going to make it with that attitude, my man. Keep at it, and keep your head up. We're all learning here. I'm going to bed.

Nothing works, the paper is out, these scum laugh and get offended when you hate them, I'm tired of it
>>7729663I can really see the progress :fire:
>>7729731Here>>7729737Yeah this was what I was thinking, I have to look at stuff more in 3D more often. I'm trying to unlock that skill at greater lengths. I just redrew these eyes trying to fit them into 3D eye sockets and they're much better. Before I did they looked much more flat than this.
New figure drawing I made, borked proportions. I think I erased and drew over the waist area about 15 times. Next time's the charm.
Latest figure drawing. I overshaded the bottom and it ended up looking very messy. Proportions kinda off. Shoulder blades overdefined. Face/head butchered (might need a pen with less ink, and more practice on inking faces). Didn't define the arching back well and the depth between the foreground side plane to the final outline of the body. Also got the perspective on the waist area completely wrong.
I can't shake off the feeling that something is off.
>>7729565Currently trying to get the proportions and way it's constructed memorized. A lot of them have been referenced by Pixiv or Pinterest at random so I'm not sure of a good way of describing it through words.

>>7728332>>7729300I surrender.
>>7730087now draw the guys wearing them!
What do you guys think of my attempt? It’s my first time trying to copy a reference
>>7730111Nice job on the proportions. Try using guidelines when drawing the face to make sure it's centered and work on adding depth if you are going for realism.
Does accuracy ever get easier or are permabegs doomed to be using grids, rulers and transparency?I dont want talentfag replies
>>7730111shitty photo = shitty drawing
>>7730135Accuracy is a loaded word. If you want an accurate recording of your environment, then take a photo. Easy as. Otherwise, it's about capturing the feel of the subject. Not a portrait, but if you study the difference between these two artworks, you'll start to see massive differences in focus and framing. Also https://realismtoday.com/painting-from-photographs/
>>7730135Stuff like the bargue method or Dorian Iten's accuracy guide exist for this very reason
>>7730144I want to study from a sketch. I struggle a lot measuring and have to do 6 passes something as retarded as a loomis head.I meant that kind of accuracy.
>>7730147Yes anon they exist to teach you how to measure and what techniques to use.Just like training wheels are there to help you learn how to balence yourself on a bike when does it get easier for permabegs who cant copy worth shit? Am I just doomed to do a glorified trace?
>>7730149Idk man I'm just doing the trace > copy > overlay thing as a warm-up before the rest of my studies and hoping that it works
>>7730136Sounds like a skill issue on your part, man
>>7730149I'm still a beg, but one whose pretty decent at ref drawing. The more I draw, the less I'm using plumb and level lines and it's very rare that I actually do any measuring any more unless it's something super finicky like capturing likeness on a realistic face. Getting an accurate drawing comes noticeably faster and my initial "vibes" attempt at capturing proportions is usually way closer to reality with more minor revisions. At some point, it becomes more intuitive and automated, at least in my experience.
>>7730156on second thought, this one is shit, even for me. I think I was interrupted too many times while drawing
>>7730158Yeah I agree, since I started seriously trying to get better I've done only 5 studies (10 or so total in my life) and while they turned out ok I see a lot of room for improvement if I draw with purpose to avoid mistakes (not taking breaks, seeing the overall picture from afar, not picking up subtle contours on the reference etc)
Finished. I've improved a lot but I still struggle with legs and feet.
>>7730135yes I think so, just practice it a bunch, pay attention to angles, and where things line up in the reference versus your paper. There is some kind of /int/ technique of doing this with curves but it requires a really good eye for that stuff that I don't have yet.>measuring and rulersthere are styles of classical drawing that measure a lot too
>>7730148I know Loomis is the recommended approach generally, as it's the most rigidly clear and concise option out of most other methods. A lot of people find comfort in the precision of a step-by-step guide. I never found my footing using it, and I've made my own fork of the Frank Reilly method and Michael Hampton's own interpretation of how to construct a head. I've found this to be much more flexible, and I can easily avoid the "same face" syndrome a lot of beginning artists experience. It also works in many different styles, as the foundation just that, something to build on top of. No matter how successful or not my heads have been (most likely down to stylistic choices), I would definitely recommend trying out different methods to see what you like, and begin from there. Mix and match to see what you like from whom.
had to draw SOMETHING today, even if it was just incredibly incorrect perspective
>>7730148>>7730196As an additional note, this is also why I include my initial sketches, as a reminder to myself as to how I've interpreted the foundation in comparison to my results. "Which choice made sense", "how can I refine the angle here and there", "next time, would it be better to shade or use lines", menial stuff like that. I'm constantly iterating, and this method has worked for me for the longest while, though switching it up every once in a while helps you to avoid stagnating and progress at a much faster rate.
>>7730171cutewood
>>7729929im a different person than the one who made the initial sketch and i redrew the forms instead of using ones from the sketch

>>7730380Fine. Can't help the blind. Everything is off, "nigga". Perspective is all over the place, the mouth is too far to the right and looks like duck-face, and the eyes are off tilt and (yet again) massive amounts of perspective issues. Have fun.

i hate art
Do you think it's bad practice to use very minor assistance from ai when learning to draw? I piped my figure through controlnet, and look which parts machine made more better and try to copy and remember.
>>7730484I'll be sure to check it out. Weekend's coming up, and I haven't much planned other than drawing and evenings with the missus.>>7730489If you know how to draw, AI is basically an advanced stock photo tool useful for photobashing. I've seen a couple of people do that to great effect, but I'd definitely advice against using in order to become a better artist yourself when learning.
>>7730489Personally that's not something I would get into the habit of doing. If your only objective is to make something look better, then it's sort of akin to tracing. Will it work? Sure. Will you understand why and how it looks better after the ai assist? Fuck no, and you'll really have no way to verifying accuracy or understanding why it changed things the way it did. It's like the opposite of doing a study. Short term benefit for long term stunting. Whereas a study is basically the short term struggle for long term benefit.
>>7730483I was going to give bluesky a try but when I search anything on there it's nonstop gay porn and furries. I don't understanddid you promote your second account on your main one or started from scratch?
>>7730497I think you can create your own costum feed so you filter out things you don't care for/don't want to see. I don't have enough of a following to make it worth it to funnel em into my new accounts so I just started em from scratch.
How would you resist the temptation to draw coombait or art for gooners in general? I'm still very much a low-beginner, so I don't really share the same mindset as more skilled and advanced artists have. How do you not succumb to the temptation and how do you find inspiration that is not erotic in its nature?
does grinding faces over and over actually make you good at faces?with grinding i mean copying and not using loomis and other beg traps

>>7730475You haven't missed anything. Modern anime is so fucking GARBAGE and zoomer manga is somehow even 10 times worse. Actual untalented mangakakas drawing on top of models. Anime artistry is dead alongside it's western counterpart, ironically it also started with CGI just like the west. Also bebop is not THAT old, you could've started with mazinger, a lot of my friends/excoworkers from the 80s love mazinger.
Recent life drawings >>7730273Good line work, facial proportions, and shapes. I’m really excited to see your growth. Do you have a particular type of art you plan on making with what you learn from figures? Is Paint Tool Sai inherently faster than CSP? I feel on the latter that even on the most basic of brush settings with no stabilization the line lags behind my cursor. It's more noticeable when drawing fast circles or long lines fast. Doodled john stickman looking at a narrow corridor apparently while setting the shortcuts I used on CSP, it feels great.

>>7730911yeah
I don't want to directly respond, but how come some people "study" or copy and don't draw something that is anywhere near resembling what they see: wrong angles, bends that aren't there, different structure, proportions way out of whack. Is it autism? Some sort of condition? Low IQ? Have you ever seen it get better with those people?Talent may or may not exist.Lack of talent might be real.

>>7730961no
I have lost count how many times I've redone this fucking picture my god.
Another page filled, this time mostly studies, one drawing from ref, and one from imagination. Feels good, anons.>>7730955I really like this. The forms are really good, and your lines, though sketches, seem really easy to read.>>7730981No matter what, I like both. Is it the anatomy that bothers you or the composition, or maybe both?
>>7730572I forgot to say thanks for the compliment on the face. Most of my focus was there, which is why i messed up other parts of the figure.
Tried to draw lewd from reference. First time.Critics and help welcome.
>>7730996The anatomy didn't feel right. The further I went, the more it felt like something wasn't right. But glad you like it lol. It's just a quick screencap of the canvas, so the composition isn't fully there, just the problem I'm struggling with.
>>7730981Dope anatomy but for some reason I feel like the neck is a tad bit too long for the pose? When I try and do that pose myself the ends of my elbows are a bit closer to the top of my head than in pic rel.
>>7731005Ah, yes. That I can completely relate to. Your anatomical correctness in your first draft is good, as simplified forms go, though the pectoralis major needs to point more upwards towards your deltoids, like with your red-lining rendition. I'd love to see it finished, It's really good.
>>7730914I used to do that and it was because of the idea that a study is lesser than an actual illustration so I would just scribble something in 20 minutes that roughly resembled the ref having learned little to nothing. I'm still not good but I've made some gains now after discovering accuracy
>>7730534Day 2
>>7731012Your second day back at it is better than mine were. I took a screencap for you to see. Keep at it, I think you're doing great. Nice job on your proportions. At some point, it will become as easy as pie, believe me. Also, have you considered doing more gestures?
>>7731026Thank you anon! Don't put yourself down though yours are good too! You're pretty good at the lower half of the body, which is what I struggle with. In your screencap you've got the fullness/roundess of the buttocks down and the rhythm of the legs is good. I really struggle with those things in particular
>>7731032Thank you, fella. I'm a bit further along now, but I didn't even noticed that before you pointed it out just now. That's suprising to me. Still, I really appreciate the compliment, and it would have been nice to know that back then little over a year ago. It's all about getting the flow right, which is why I asked about you possibly doing gestures.I'm >>7730996
>>7731008You are absolutely right. I think. But I'm too far in. Maybe I can hide it with garbage rendering who knows.
>>7730655>>7730651you're making her face too small so it fits in the painting
>>7731044Don't worry. A professional mangaka named Ken Wakui also enjoys the giraffe build. Pic very related
>>7730702I swear, some of you tradfags are just so good. Love your stuff.
>>7730770Unironically, paint is the fastest, if you want that. I'm using Krita myself, it's brush engine is extremely good, but it's a bit counterintuitive to learn. I've tried both Clip Studio Paint and Paint Tool Sai, and I couldn't really get into them. I just need my software to resemble Photoshop the slightest, then I'm good. Affinity Photo is also good, but stabilized brushes are a must, as it's definitely not made for painting.>>7730822Those arms are so damn crips. Lovely work.
>>7730924>Not even a year drawing>Already at 15k followers>Gets tons of money from his high engagement>Draws fully shaded full figures with great backgroundsI wish I had a tenth of the talent he has
>>7731041Wait that's you?? I saw that before and was blown away, I was going to reply that there's no way in hell you're /beg/I admire people who sit down and study the actual muscles and details. My attention span is too crap to do all that, and I get bored easily. As for gestures, I haven't done them for a while but have started practicing them again. My goal is to draw anime-style illustrations that actually look decent, rather than fucked up
>>7731059Haha thanks anon, I’m glad you like them Trad is always the way to go imo
>>7731083Yep. As I've mentioned before, I only really began drawing when I bought Krita in October, but I dabbled in other softwares before that in September last year. Drawing has a compound effect, especially if you practice 3 dimensional forms (cylinders especially, cubes and cones/pyramids) in conjunction with gestures and perspective. I've literally done nothing else than draw, work out, print minis and read books (Worm took up a massive amount of that, though). Ask me to draw a car, and I'll have to look up references. That being said, humans form their environment in reflection to itself and it's understanding. A moped is basically a few planes, a box and two wheels, that sort of thing. I could go on.
>>7730534I think you should study Loomis’ figure drawing book anon. Also work on lines. Do some warm ups of some straight lines and boxes in perspective before you draw every day
>>7730914ppl used to ask me this a lot and the answer was because I was exclusively using shit like this as refs for like 3 months
Yup, it's drawing time.
>>7731063>PaintJesus, I think I'm good with SAI thanks. Krita is aight, I remember trying it ages ago but couldn't stick to it, probably the fault of my previous crappy tablet.

>>7730996are those cleaned up or is this how you sketch on the first go?
>>7731145she got psyopped into thinking she's good.Mischief.
>>7731277That's a classic, I'm starting out copying stuff and get so into it I forget to take small breaks which causes me to notice errors after I'm finished.
>>7731279I don't really clean up my sketches. Usually, I do a first pass and try my best to see, what I'm about to draw and feel the forms. I then deliberately delete the sketch, and I go about slowly analyzing the image to see if I can replicate my understanding rather than the reference I'm using. A lot of the times, if it's particularly easy, I don't do an initial sketch, because I already know what goes where.
>>7731282The pain is real. Breaks are just as important as the process of drawing itself. Luckily, it's easy to fix, but it's still annoying.

>>7731362Look at the art book for any video game and it’ll completely kill your drive to play the game . In my eyes, art direction is better than being a player
>>7731362Drawing has killed my other hobbies and social life. Not really complaining though since it's what I want to do. I don't even play video games anymore with exception to a gacha game but that only takes about 15 minutes of my time a day. When Hades 2 releases next week I might try it, but I feel like I'm done with games for good.

Hey I'm a total newfag when it comes to art and drawing, I've never drawn in my life before, but I've been wanting to start a hobby instead of just playing video games. So I have a question that I was hoping maybe someone here can answer for me. Would something like proko drawing basics be a good place to start or is there a better starting point?
