Pinky on the left side looks awkward to me. The middle phalanx looks way too long. Looks like you made it longer so a joystick could fit between the fingers, but what would actually happen is pads of the finger would deform around the joystick to make enough space. Make the tip of your pinky touch the palm of your hand and see how much space is in the middle.

I love your linework and basically everything you post, but I'm not even a foot guy and can tell those feet need some work.

You're consistently making the big toe way too small: the top left and top right are especially egregious. The entire top plane of the foot also slopes down from the big toe towards the pinkie toe, so you would only really see the big toe in the profile view from that side.

You can kind of wing it for toes 2-4, which are pretty samey, but the big toe and to a lesser extent the pinkie toe are almost always relatively distinct in shape compared to the rest.

Thanks. I'm trying to make these ones feel feminine but I think I took too much liberty with the big toe like you said. I think the bottom left and the one to the left of the frog turned out best from a proportions perspective.

I've drawn way more hands than feet, and even though I think the former are more technically challenging they seem to offer a bit more leeway in terms of appealing proportions compared to feet. I guess it's a matter of more grinding

how do I learn to respect digital? My digital drawings are really sterile and have no style to them, but my traditional stuff does. The POV of your drawing is more level with the face than the reference. The guy is viewed from above so there is more foreshortening.Drawing boxes would fix this.

To put this in terms a flatlander can understand, the shoulders are narrow af and should be wider. In general, the angles should be more severe. The righthand shoulder shows this most not to mention the jawline and cant of the nose. Look up lens distortion while you’re at it.

What this anon said. Honestly, you're not learning anything of value, and it will hurt you in the long run. The only thing you'll gain is being good at drawing that, nothing else.
You do you, but you're absolutely wasting your time, talent or not. Learning to draw is still learning, and learning can suck. Learn to love the sucky parts, and you'll learn quicker than whatever you think you're doing now.

It’s just that when you’re doing pieces this detailed it’s important to find the right point to be satisfied and move on, even if it still has flaws (which it always will). I think you’re at this point in the drawing, especially given that it looks good since you’ve gotten plenty of crit I assume. That’s why I say that
>>
>>7739370
I’ll give crit though, just as a last clean up.

Cross should probably be seen more from above and not from the side. Tongue could stand to be a tad bit longer. Give the hair more texture on the contour, add shoes laces, and move the ear back a bit .

It's an effective technique with multiple applications for many artists. It's not strictly necessary, but then you have to use other techniques to imply the things that lineweight is not being used to define. Also post your inspos, so we know you don't have shit taste.

Going back to figgies after finishing a long project is comfy.

Dunno why I never tried thinking about the face as a mask when constructing the head, despite it always feeling like the most intuitive way to look at it when. I always just tried to do a cube or start with the centerline, which always needed a lot of fixing. Just putting a mask on a sphere is so much easier

As a NEET think I can cram 14 hour days drawing to get gud? What's the optimal amount of time I should be drawing? And should I just keep trying to copy images on the internet through construction over and over until I can produce photorealistic copies, and then move onto more complicated stuff?

That's a very silly thing to say. If you could do 14 hour drawing days, you would be doing them already.
Just try doing a quick sketch every 2 days or so.
Draw something. Look at it. What's fucked up? Look up "how to draw [thing I fucked up]". Rinse and repeat, until you grow a natural understanding of how things should be. This only works if you're not retarded.
Also don't read Loomis.

huh, I didn't know people who drew like this posted here. that's actually kinda shocking, not that I think it's bad its just shocking

my only real critique is I think you should practice a diverse range of face shapes, despite being two different characters they both have a very similar head and face shape

Thanks. I wish I knew how to bring in more variance. But changes to sensitivity of the tablet /size changes of the brush leads don't quite give the desired effect - often too strong.

I'll experiment some more.

about 3 years back in Highschool (I was high beg at most) + 12 - 13 years gap of no drawings + 3 years of digital only. Pic related was from the year I originally quit.

>How much do you practice?
I don’t practice that much. Most of the time I just learn by working on stuff I post, studying as I go. On an average week, I draw for about 15 hours.

Anons, do you guys vary your topics that you draw, or do you stick to one thing? Like if you're working on drawing hawt anime coomies do you ever stop to draw a tree or a cat or some dragon or some shit? Because I've seen some professional grade artists absolutely drop the ball when they're required to draw the scrombloid that accompanies the heroine.

These are notes from Will Weston. Pay close attention to the centerline and other cross-contour lines that clarify the forms. The white circled areas and the white indicated lines around the pelvis are attachment points. Here you also tend to see bone protruding, although it depends on position and how fat people are.

ayylmao, cool. i drew a bust today as well so maybe i'll try to help, though be warned, it's a bit of the blind leading the blind. i would recommend trying to use a different medium, personally. unless you're going for a cool stylized pen-y look, IRL values differ very subtly, in ranges from absolute bright to absolute dark. you have big patches of both light and dark but they don't really lend form to anything, but you are on the right track (for instance, the eyesockets of the bust appear to be darker because they're deeper-set, as are the 'creases' of the 'skin' on the bust.)

tl;dr draw it again with graphite or charcoal

>>
>>7740917
i would also recommend a 3B pencil as well, because you can still get sharp lines with it but it has a greater degree of darkness than a regular 2B or HB or whatever. i'm not gonna be like hurrdurr go draw fruit until you can draw the things you wanna draw, draw the cool busts man. just try graphite for a change, apply darkness, blend it, erase for highlights, repeat. it's really that simple. you can just use your finger and a regular eraser at first, though you should ideally try using a kneaded eraser

good luck anon WAGMI

>>
>>7740917
I think you should get a stronger understanding of forms to start off. Like you have the values and planes established but the drawing is still very flat. Try to practice drawing contours that communicate form by drawing circles over one another and practicing what overlapping looks like. That would be especially useful around the hair. It’s also useful to make a value scale before starting any piece involving values so that your planning is smoother

Depends on how talented you are.
If you are some permabeg like PBS, Pawell, Aizafag or Sharkchad you could be born with a crayon in your hand and a lifetime of practice wont help your lack of talent.

I think the execution is fine overall, but it would benefit from adjusted perspective as well as more form knowledge. Try to break the boot down into basic forms like cylindrical forms and draw the ground plane in perspective before finalizing the shoe itself . Also make sure to shade along the forms of the shoe when you draw it

I've always heard that drawing from life is king. Studying other artists is nice, since you can see how they simplify and make something appealing. However, because they've already 'processed' the image for you, they've done the heavy lifting. Drawing from life forces you do to do that step and is a skill in itself. I think you can do both, but especially starting out the vast majority should be from life.
