The program I use to draw with a pencil (any pencil) is crap. My problem isn't with the quality of the lines, but with their correct placement relative to the sphere to create a normal head.
>>7843957
Yes, the head is not the same shape as in the reference. Usually the heads come out wide, but I lengthened the lines, and now it’s an elongated head, and in the original it’s wide. Nonsense...

>My problem isn't with the quality of the lines, but with their correct placement relative to the sphere to create a normal head.
That's precisely why I want you to use a pencil brush. You're thinking on lines instead of shapes. If you don't change your approach you will never improve at this point (from my own experience, since I commit this same mistake at start).
Stop being stubborn and do as I said. Find a more forgiving brush that will force you to think of the shapes (even if you need to change the program as a whole), specially shapes of eyes and other parts of face. Because from the looks of it, you already did too much skulls.

>>
>>7843973
It seems to me like KtD focuses on more general drawing while FwaP focuses more on drawing people.
>>
>>7844026
Just a bad drawing cant really render it properly. If you had the knowledge to make a good drawing you would understand how to render it. Blending and coloring digitally really isnt complicated at all. Its the drawing thats lacking. I would focus on practicing proportions, accuracy, form, and maybe just do 2 value renderings until you have a good grasp on drawing. Try to keep things as simple as possible so you dont have the chance to hide your mistakes so you can fix them.

>a good sign that I'm improving
Not really, it's a sign that you're physically weak. I recommend you to lift, but if you're a woman you can fuck off.
>>
>>7844082
If it's just some mild cramping then it's normal, if it feels more like nerve pain then you need to be careful.
You might be gripping too hard or always using the same grip. Try to switch things up a bit so you don't get over-use injuries. If you hurt the nerves in your wrist, It starts off pretty mild but if you keep irritating it, it takes a long time to heal, so let it rest a bit. Once it's healed you can strengthen it with wrist exercises to help prevent it from getting injured.

Finished this drawing, tried new stuff.
First, I did the flats, shadows then lights and used this auto action: https://assets.clip-studio.com/en-us/detail?id=2109947
then, I passed a multiplier layer atop of it, increasing the shading in some areas like the right arm, the armor and the sword (with a noise airbrush), and added the red vinnagrete effect, and I also duplicated the layer, used lens blur and masked everything but the hand and the woman.
the image should look a bit ass since it was in 4k and I had to compress it a lot to post here

It's a decent drawing, anon. The reason you think it's off is because the values are not correct, which also makes the shadow a bit wonky. I'd focus on getting the proportions of the apple correct before working on shading, personally. Shading, shadows, etc. help identify the form.

This. Mark is not that great, and he teaches shortcuts more than anything else. Real courses are boring, which is when you know, it's about to get good.

Thank you for the advice. With proprotions, you mean just the general size and shape? The book just kinda starts with this as the very first chapter so I'm a bit lost.

The overlapping spheres look a bit better I think, but something on the bottom left one look weird too. I think it might be the shadow under the spheres, as in, it should be more horizontal

When blocking out reflections, shadows, etc., you'll need to keep the shapes consistent with what you're trying to replicate. Firstly, try to analyze the general shape of the apple, then study it (maybe by drawing on top of it) and then try to draw it with the reference nearby.
I think you got the right shapes down, but it's the apple itself and the shape of the shadow you've drawn that's hindering it. Try and study the shapes in your reference, not the lines you imangine.

Like this. The general size and shape is more important than shading, especially for beginners. I always scratch my head when I see books and courses marked for beginners, trying to get them started with shading. Shape and form is more important, shading comes second and can be learnt by osmosis, mostly.
The overlapping spheres look much better, too. Nice job, anon.
>>

>>
>>7844820
You're welcome, anon. The red lines are just there to visualize, what you should be thinking about, when looking at a reference. It's all about breaking down elements into simple geometric shapes, which can then be translated into objects on paper. It's how I approach most things in terms of drawing. Once you've got that down, shading is almost a paint by numbers game.
>>

Most important part of the book addresses accuracy in drawing and how to measure the things you see.
After you finish the book find very simple images, like small animals, insects or plants, and use a grid method to draw them out until you become more comfortable with drawing.

Nobody denies that some people are inherently better than others. The problem is people who think that they are so talentless that they shouldn't even try or think it's impossible to overtake someone talented through practice

Kinda hard to measure, sincerely. Considering I alternate between digital and trad a lot during my work meetings and stuff. I suppose one year in trad and one year in digital by approx. time or something.
I'm considering buying a paper-like screen protection to see if it relieves my issues a bit. But not sure if that would work out or if it's my approach that's wrong.
I only want to feel comfort at digital but the pen is too big for my hand, the screen feels too small, the texture makes me want to murder, and I just can't sketch without zooming in properly because the pen is just too big for me see it well.
It's just a vent, because I'm sure 90% of the fault is in myself. But it sucks when I find the proper posture to do it in trad but once I go to digital I feel wasted.

Damn is this yet another morpho enjoyer? I'd be more concerned over trying to match the angles/proportions than anything else right now. But that's just my personal opinion. I think my copy's angles were about as off as yours are now
>>
>>7845027
Besides the eyebrow that should be arched a little more, you really nailed it. The head needs to tilt back even further, as the angle of the two are not the same. The essential part of Morpho's books are not to copy it 1:1, though it's a good idea. It's to give a quick summary of the given subject, and you're doing great.

bad reference, bad copy. you know its wrong, analyze why and which angles and sizes are and correct them. if you dont grow past the frustration, you wont bear fruits. struggling is the way, but giving up to struggle to find a way is the end. you didnt struggle for long enough with it to make it right. also, the reference sucks, its blurry and badly lit.

It is just a matter of flying under the radar. If you get mass reported there is nothing few can do.
Have you ever seen those prefixes people use to redirect to x/twitter and show the content on embeds?
The people behind "fixupx" would notice that it was used for cute and funny content and would lead mass reports to have the posted accounts banned. It made several people start using their own redirects.
You wont get banned unless you glow too much (3d realism) or get a fuckton of people to report you and make a ruckus.

>Great stuff, anon. Curious question: Do you have any pieces made in full color, or do you prefer monochrome?
THANK YOU! I used to do stuff with colors some kind of "cel-shade" style, because it is fast to do. I used that for flash animations, but the /f/ board got terminated after the big hackkening of this year, and it was a huge blow. I feel no more motivation to do colored or animation projects. I did some pixel stuff too. But to do these almost daily strip comics, monochrome is the way to go, it hides mistakes and lame design and composition, and it is super fast. So it is much preferable to me, and enjoyable, I don't want to suffer doing this for fun lol.
I did I collage of some of the stuff I posted here, but there's a ton of shit, I think I started during the pandemic 20', 21' don't remember.

That's correct. But lets be honest, learning often means exactly that, repetition through memory. Like AI works as a searching predictive machine, the human brain does the same. The difference is that in humans you have the "savant" anomaly, some freaks of nature capable to go beyond just memory and repetition, they "create" shit "seemingly" out of nowhere. They just have a better connection with the day dreaming ability innate in all humans.

Thank you! I guess Picrel is "normal" enough too. It was a challenge by Table Guy from a couple of years ago. The multiple breasted one was based on one of Tableguy's unicorns lol

>doing art online for a year
does not mean 'been drawing for a year', stop comparing yourself to others.

Anyway I've been learning to draw for two months now and I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made.

You can see the massive improvement right fucking there from prebeg to pixiv tier shit mang.

Social media will always give an illusion without contexts, or of things that were effortless. Just relax about it.
>>7845481
Do you guys usually measure time? I never really remember doing it. But I noticed myself taking more than a hour doing stuff digitally while in trad I'm doing most of my sketches in less than 10 minutes somehow (even if terribly shit).
>>
>>7845483
pyw
>>
>>7845485
I go out of my way to not measure time. Because time is irrelevant when it comes to the finished product.Time comes as a byproduct of all your other learning. It isn't something to be concerned about.

Need advice to produce some 600k, traffic-daily/sales-yearly,clicks/USD in that order, or just the basic general science to count the content itself.

Also doing refraction manually on a complicated lineart/compositions/settings, which means lots of objects, lots of refractions. I can do, like, one or two, but to go for, many, idnt say, I have been employed, equipped,to do so.

You seem good with drawing mechanical parts and general armor, got any tips? Especially for adjacent parts like exoskeletons or mechanical extra arms and whatnot

I mainlyy use the references from my pinterest folder for them. Always use reference when it come to mechanical part unless you are an engineer or Kim Jung Gi

>what's helped you so far putting all these details, correctly
I try to do exercises of redrawing parts with detail in different angles. It helps you to imagine the details correctly. Basically increase your observation skill.

I finished the second lesson of Keys to Drawing.
I feel as if though I'm not doing it right, though. It's very hard to draw without looking at the picture, although I did try the Looking, holding, drawing a line and Drawing blind methods.

The concept is to learn to just draw without thinking about if I'm doing it right though, no? I don't know, perhaps it'll come to me later.

It said to draw for 15 minutes, but I did it for 8, because I drew every line on my hand that I could I could see already.
>>
Alright maybe talent is real.
>>
>>7845600
I think that the idea is primarily to cure symbol drawing. If the hand doesn’t look exactly like our typical idea of a “hand”, I’d say that the exercise worked.
>>
>>7845603
Depends on the context ,isn't it?

Felt like learning how to draw because less and less artists are making stuff I like to look at so I might as well do it myself. Anyway here's the first thing I've drawn since grade school, and my point of reference for growth this year.
>>
What exactly is the difference between drawing on the right side of the brain and keys to drawing? Arent both teaching you how to draw from observation / no symbol drawing?
>>
>>7845641
One of them has less pseudo-science bullshit in it. You can make an educated guess as to which one

>>
>>7845459
Getting a smaller sketchbook and pencil case that I could always have next to me at home did wonders. Even if im not actively drawing, carrying my materials around to jump into really helped inspire me.

Also, block phone apps. I know that's less of drawing advice and more general, but I have my phone block anything that I can doomscroll after 30 minutes a day. Definitely definitely helped get me to actually draw.

It wasnt a violent kind of rape. It was a take a shower with daddy kind of soft rape, dont wear a bra around the house because it is hot kind of rape, give daddy kisses for a christmas dog kind of rape, let your budding breasts get slurped on kind of rape.
