i might just not be the right person to tell you which to go for, i've only barely scratched the surface of russian and i've been learning it on and off since 2015 lol. sorry man

I never really liked my natural accent because I never really spoke with a russian/east euro accent and have always wanted to switch to something like Scottish (the same sort of accent Billy Boyd or Count Dankula's gf speak with) because whenever I speak with my natural accent online (in video games or over vc) people instantly start mocking me

will preface saying that i dont hear the typical "american" accent that often
if i wasn't paying attention i'd think he was native, but he pronounces a fair number of words in a strange way
"you gotta find what YOUR love", "three stories fer mai laif", "no big diiil", tone of "why did i drop out?" going down which is strange for a question, "udwid" instead of "unwed"

Every Russian has to be banned from using Western sites like this. You have to post an ancestry test to be allowed to lurk anywhere and if you have even a percent of Russian or churka blood you ought to be banned from using the Internet. Simple as.
>>
>>204755944
But I guess there's no need for improving his accent at this level. I'm not sure about it though. I just want to hear any takes from natives.

I think it takes more time to become perfect than it does to reach current level from the bottom

I got something like this. How does it work, I don't speak any of these languages?
>>
>>204756630
I guess it uses algorithms from a large database of voice recordings of people of different accents reading this line and compares all of those VRs to yours and then tries to match it with the one closest to yours. You don't have to speak any of those languages, your native language just has to be somewhat close phonetically to the ones listed there. And Portuguese is quite close to Russian/Polish phonetics-wise. Moreso to Russian.
>>
>>204756630
portuguese is basically polish without czczczcszy
>>
>>204756702
Alright, makes sense. Maybe I could have a very good Portuguese or Spanish accent if I ever decide to learn one of those languages.
>And Portuguese is quite close to Russian/Polish phonetics-wise.
Is Arabic also phonetically close to those languages? I thought it's completely different.
>>
>>204756840
>Maybe I could have a very good Portuguese or Spanish accent if I ever decide to learn one of those languages.
Italian too, it's actually one of the easiest languages for slavs to get right phonetics-wise
>Is Arabic also phonetically close to those languages?
Somewhat. There are some phonetical features that are not found/common in Russian/Polish/Portuguese, but overall it's not that hard.
>>
>>204756702
My accent tests always place Portuguese at the top
>>
>>204756964
I fucked up by choosing french. Maybe I should switch...
>>
>>204757128
French is more wide-spread than Italian, but on the other hand Italians are much more friendly to other people learning their language than the French.
It all really comes down to your goal you wish to achieve in learning a foreign language. What do you need French for? Could the same be achieved by learning Italian instead? If yes, then you could try switching, if no, then don't.
Like if you were learning Mandarin for culture, philosophy, business and women, and then you decided to switch to, say Lao, then I'd say you made a mistake because Lao would never give you the same opportunities as would Mandarin.
But if you're just learning languages for the fun of it, then what could stop you from switching to Italian anyways? Also, you don't have to switch completely, any human is capable of learning several languages simultaneously. At least you can safely learn two languages side by side.
>>
>>204757250
I wanted to learn a romance language.
>Also, you don't have to switch completely, any human is capable of learning several languages simultaneously
Unfortunately, I am also learning German because I need it for university and work, I don't have enough time to learn 3 languages at the same time.

Busuu or Babbel for German? I hate the gamified distractionware style of Busuu but it seems more matured as an app than Babbel, which isn't as obnoxious but also feels quite soulless with the stock imagery as opposed to the videos and other activities in Busuu.
