>世尊告曰 我爲汝説 不令汝等 學沙門 失沙門道The Baghavan spoke, saying: I shall explain for you, so that in your study as sramanas you do not lose the sramanic path. >汝欲成 無上梵行者 寧抱木積 洞燃倶熾 若坐若臥 彼雖因此受苦或死 然不以是 身壞命終 趣至惡處 生地獄中Should you wish to accomplish the supreme Brahmanic practice, it is better that you embrace this woodpile engulfed in flames, or sit or lie with it, for though due to this you will experiencing suffering and may die, it will yet not set you on paths to evil places, and rebirth in hell, when the body is destroyed and life ends.>若愚癡人 犯戒不精進 生惡不善法 非梵行稱梵行 非沙門稱沙門Should a foolish person break the precepts and be not effortful, this gives rise to wicked dharmas, and is not the Brahmanic practice though he calls it such; it is not the sramanic way, though he calls it such.>若抱刹利女 梵志居士工師女 年在盛時 沐浴香薫 著明淨衣 華鬘瓔珞 嚴飾其身 若坐若臥者 彼愚癡人 因是長夜 不善不義 受惡法報 身壞命終 趣至惡處 生地獄中Should he embrace a ksatriya woman, or brahmin, householder, or artisan woman, in the prime of her age, bathed and perfumed, wearing bright and pure robes, with flowers and jewellery adorning her body, or should he sit or lie with her, this foolish person will, for the long night of his existence, be ungood and unrighteous, experiencing the karmic rewards of wicked dharmas, and when his body is destroyed and life ends, will be set on paths to wicked places, and be reborn in hell.>是故汝等 當觀自義 觀彼義 觀兩義 當作是念 我出家學 不虚不空 有果有報 有極安樂 生諸善處 而得長壽 受人信施 衣被飮食 床褥湯藥 令諸施主 得大福祐 得大果報 得大光明者 當作是學Therefore should you all examine your own righteousness, and the righteousness of others, and the righteousness of both, and think to yourselves: My practice in leaving home is not in vain; it has its fruits and rewards, and ultimate peace and bliss. I will be reborn in good places, and obtain a long life. Where you take faithful donations from others, of clothing, food, bedding, and medicine, causing your benefactors to obtain great merit, great rewards, and great luminosity, you should maintain this practice.
