I have a love-hate relationship with it. I really only enjoy the alternate mode (Hard B) that increases the difficulty and removes the time limit. I find myself constantly reloading on the normal mode.
I really dislike that you only get to use one move across your party, it feels very crude and awkward to me, and gives less opportunity for each character to shine.
I have a particular hateboner for Leo's capture whip attack, it's inconsistent both in the amount it captures and because sometimes a random attack will kill the boss before you can do it.
Galzoo also has a shockingly high number of characters that try to cuck Leo. I mean, that's what I expect from Alice Soft, yeah, but at the start of the game it feels like they're introducing two of them per stage.

Despite all of that, I have it installed on my PC. I've had it installed on every PC I've owned since I learned Japanese. I'll probably have it installed on every PC I own for the rest of my life. It's passionate and wildly creative and it has a very specific feeling to it I've never seen any other game recreate.
It's quite dear to me, despite its flaws. I hope you end up enjoying the game much, much more than I do.

What's so special about it? It reminds me a bit of Escalayer which I wasn't too fond of, although I only played a couple hours to be fair.
Other than Galzoo, I've played the normal RPGs like the two Evenicles and Rance, but no SRPGs yet. Do you think I'd enjoy it based on that?

I guess the sentai vibe is a bit similar to Escalayer but the tone is much lighter, as there are no rape scenes or similars that are staple in the Beat series. SRPG part is pretty easy, like SRW-lite, no chance to get stuck there.
>>
>randomly roll some Towns games

All I ever got to see was dicks.

The game itself is your typical jokey nukige. It is set-up similarly to early 90s quick date/select-a-scenario games, so outside of the art being mid 90s it feels a bit old. It's kinda like comfort food though.

>H-scene after H-scene after H-scene
I get that this is effectively what these types of games are all about but I kinda wish they'd try to space it out a bit more in between relaxed scenes here and there. I'm probably stupid but I feel like not partaking in the act would just be rude towards the studio and more so the heroine herself, but when you finish that scene a lot of games just move on to immediately make the set up for the next H-scene.
This ends up creating a weird situation where it feels like lately you haven't had a normal conversation with the heroine you're currently plowing which is weirdly counter-productive to the whole common route setup you went through while deepening a connection with the heroine
>>
>>47469835
>effectively what these types of games are all about
read better games
>>
>>47469835
This is why I prefer VNs with only the single virgin H-scene which includes the foreplay at the end. That way you know the story and emotional growth in the story will be prioritized so the pay off at the end is more satisfying than mindless fucking. After all, once I nut I no longer care about anything.
>>
>>47469835
That's why i like to read one nukige and something with less or no hscenes at the same time.
>>
>>47469518

I'm not doing that. I've dumped dayfuls of my life to get into this hobby. What's the point of all the effort and work I put into this if I don't appreciate the fruit in its entirety? Even if you don't care for the amount of work that's put into making these games, you've probably read at least a few hours of the story until you reached an H-scene, give or take. These girls, presenting their skin and soul to me, an ass who sat down and studied their native language just to better understand them, what the fuck do you mean "just skip them"?
I can't fucking do that. I'm not gonna disrespect neither them nor myself like this. This is what it means to take responsibility.

Those are disc image files. The .mds is the file you'd usually mount like you would a .iso or .cue file. Whilst you can extract the .mdf, it is possible that you won't have any music as it's actually on a seperate track on the disc considering the game's age.

>>
>>47470183
Seems to work fine for me. I'll reiterate. The .MDF and .MDS files are disc image files. Virtual disc images so to speak. These are mounted with a program of choice to make them act like actual CDs.

OTVDM is a piece of software that allows for people to run 16-bit applications which seems to be the case for this game as Getchu lists it as a Win95/98 game. There is apparently a wine version for it.

I did have a quick mount and noticed the music is on a seperate track than the data, so you will have to keep the disc mounted. Assuming you don't emulate, I don't know if linux handles old (virtual) CDs properly for looping, otherwise you might even need to patch it with _inmm.

If all this seems a bit too much, you're probably better off not attempting to figure it out. Maybe just try emulating a windows 95 system rather than trying to finaggle it into working on Linux or modern Windows "natively".

I actually read all my vns in a windows 10 virtual machine with its own dedicated gpu. I have run into mdfs before and know they can be mounted and I haven't run into a case yet where the mds was needed. when you said it works fine, are you referring to extracting the archive or running the vn? the linux version of 7z might just not be working right for me. I'll try extracting the archive in my vm in a bit
>>
>>47470055
Maybe you can be a good person and upload it somewhere maybe?
>>
>>47470229
Extracting. As I said, it's a 16-bit application. I'd actually have to mess with OTVDM or any other 16-bit compatibility layer as I don't have a 32-bit version of XP or older OS installed.

Using the .MDS is usually just for compatibility as it stores extra data, but will just read from the .mdf file for the actual stored data. It's basically a metadata file that will occasionaly store some old CD/DVD copy protection measures correctly. iirc, MDF files will tend to contain the audio track as well, but you'll still need to mount them rather than extract.

Watanabe didn't want to say which parts he wrote but based on my experience I'm pretty confident it's:
- the Kaede parts of common route, especially the library and Natsume scenes. There's a few scenes with both Kaede and other heroines around though and most, although not all of these are not him.
- Kaede route up until the open/closed route split
- all of Kaede open route, except for a few of the eroscenes near the end of the route, which I think is someone else

It's hard to be 100% sure but I don't think he wrote anything in any of the other routes
