2 weeks in, starting to get a grammar base, what material is the more adapted for the early immersion stage? anime, manga or vinnies?

The absolute best material in my opinion are daily life youtubes. You can use OCR to translate words.

Two examples are:
Walks around talking about japan things with a focus on using n5-n4:

Cleans hoarder houses and shit:

iirc that video doesn't go into detail about the usage of さえ in conditional sentences - but the meaning can be derived from his explanation. stating something basic+conditional > if only ... was the case

or maybe i should say marking a base line because just like the english 'even' さえ and すら can express that something is extraordinary too. depends on whether the sentence, 'not even that' 'even went as far as to...'

My problem is that "anyone else" would actually just engage with the media and look things up themselves. Instead you come here and ask questions every single time you're confused. Being confused and looking up answers yourself is literally 80% of the learning process, it will also help your longevity when DJTards can't help you consistently anymore. But your tranny self seems to not be able to take criticism on your methods. Do what I did, unplug your router for 12 hours/day.

The problem isn't that you get your answers questioned, it's that 99% of the time you don't even provide your own "interpretation", and when you do, it's some dumb shit like "Yomitan says it's X."
Also nobody is upset that you're getting help, it seems you can't read very well even in English.

i thought i'd bring back this thread to suggest something that has been working for me lately. i recently got おいでよどうぶつの森 (aka animal crossing wild world) and i've been using it to study. you can play it on any nintendo ds system (i've tried it on my old ds lite, dsi, and my 3ds). if you have a japanese 3ds or can get one, i'd suggest the new animal crossing as it has furigana. but with the one i'm playing, you can turn on/off kanji whenever you like. though, i'd recommend just keeping the kanji on and if you find a kanji you don't know, there's a thing on google translate where you can draw the kanji and it will recognize it for you (but after it recognizes it, i definitely suggest looking it up in a dictionary or hovering over it with rikaikun). i also suggest after figuring out the kanji/words you don't know, put them in an anki deck.

even if you aren't learning japanese, i highly suggest playing a game geared towards children in your desired language to study and making an anki deck of the words you come across.

What would you say is the main difference between N3 and N2?
I'm looking at the requirements (planning to sit the N3 in a few weeks), and from what I've seen, it's roughly breaking down as
N3
>650 kanji
>3.7k words
>Grammar points up to N3
N2
>1000 kanji
>5.5-6k words
>Grammar points up to N2
Is there really all that much of a difference? How does immersing feel at "N2" as opposed to "N3"?

i tried reading, i only know like 5 kanji for now. here's my translation:

>bubble 1
shiko no sekai he - death world?
youkoso - welcome
satou kazuma san - name
"welcome to the world of the dead, satou kazuma"

>bubble 2
fukou nimo - misfortune is also - unfortunately?
anata ha nakenari - you, nakunaru - to lose, to vanish, disappear, but also die
mashita - teineigo past tense.
"unfortunately, you have died"

>bubble 3
desuga - however?
anata ni - your
ii hanashi ga arimasu - good conversation is here? hanashi - STORY. good story is here
"however, there are good news for you"

>bubble 4, most difficult one, could not grasp it at all
tenkoku ni ittari - heaven country(kuni) going
akachan karyari naosuyorimo - child? chilled? direct [rather than do] - rather than directly assaulting a child?
miriyoku tekina ... desu - fascinating power? kind-of(tekina) ... it is
PURE GUESS - "rather than going to heaven(something with child, don't know what), you hold fascinating power?"

>bubble 5
ore no na ha - my name is
satou kazuma 16 sai - name, 16 year old
"my name is satou kazuma, 16 years old"

>bubble 6
sore ha - this is
"this is"

>bubble 7
heian na - it's peaceful
genjitsu sekai de - reality world - in the real world
shinde shimatta - died
bakkarini - only
"i just only died in a peaceful real world"

i'd be grateful if someone told me how close i was.

>>48257020
Is that an official translation or something at the top?
むふふ is just laughing.
>>
>>48257024
>shiko no sekai he
死後 meaning "after death", read as しご
>bubble 4, most difficult one, could not grasp it at all
She's telling him which options she has now that he's dead.
He can either go to Heaven or become a baby and redo (his life). At the end, she's saying that both options are alluring (魅力的), but the implication is that she's going to follow up with some "better" third option.
The line about a child you're not getting is pretty straightfoward
赤ちゃんからやりなおすより
From (being) a baby, (you can) do it over again.
>>
>>48257049
It's a machine translator I recently learned about called LunaTranslator.
Since she's laughing, that makes me even more confused. Why would she be laughing as she chooses what to drink at a vending machine..?
More context: the reason why her name is "Juice" is because, in this setting, young fox-style monster girls like her take the name of the thing they like the mos-... wait, is she laughing because she keeps seeing "her own name" labeled on all the juice bottles? That might be it!

>>48257024
You're doing great. You're gonna make it. As for bubble 4 specifically,
>天国に行ったり赤ちゃんからやり直すよりも魅力的な。。。です!
"yori" basically means that everything presented in the sentence up to that point was being presented in comparison to what comes after and can often be translated as "instead of" or "rather than"
Akachan = baby
Kara = from
Yarinaosu = do-over, or retry
x yori y = "y instead of x" or "y rather than x," EG "sono inu yori, kono inu ga ii" "rather than that dog, this dog is [good/better]"
Miryoku = attraction, enticement
Add "teki" to "miryoku" and you geting "enticing"
You should be able to translate the sentence now
>>
>>48257085
thanks anon, i'll take a look at it again with your explanation
>死後 meaning "after death", read as しご
so it's more like "welcome to the afterlife"?
>>
>>48257094
thanks a lot too anon, i'm done for the day since it's almost midnight but i'll take another go at it tomorrow before i go to the second page, appreciate your help

>>48257099

idk if "easier" is the way to go; I don't even know how to quantify it if I'm being honest. a vn can have less vocab, but the writing style can still be overwhelming. Regardless the only way I'm getting through a vn is if it's interesting enough and I'm tired of being hesitant to pick something up because it may have too many words.

When I played the fandiscs a few months ago, I noticed the same thing.
You can just go into the options menu to fiddle with the settings. Probably the first time in years I've had to manually play around with the audio settings

languages require you to remember thousands of words
the only reason you are not fluent is because you don't have savant memory
>>
>>48259824
even on 100 and the music on 20 its real low
>>
>>48259842
the only thing that matters is total hours spent (assuming you also output
>>
>>48259871
but I'm not wrong if you had savant memory you would learn within days
>>
>>48259881
you could memorise a dictionary in days maybe but you could do so without speaking any japanese
memory alone isnt the be all
>>
>>48259897
it helps
>>
>>48259925
