>>50546509>>50546529>>50546576these sets are so cute!! i think i’d get too distracted if i had my dolls out and about in just lingerie (i imagine it’s too bulky to look that great under clothes?), but maybe that just means i should try getting some to test the theory…!
>>50548250My girls always have lingerie on under all of their outfits, I've only had problems with bra straps showing, you can't really tell otherwise, but I always include them and have tons of pieces. If anything, it adds some realism via things like panty lines and glimpses of bra straps that you would expect with some poses/outfits. In Samus's Christmas photo this year, she's wearing a strapless corset bra, underwear, garter belt and stockings, but you can only see the stockings.
Anyone do any work with feathers before crafts or clothing? Any glue thats safe for vinyl? I was gonna try out some more flexible oriented superglue like to repair vinyl seats but any recommendations would be helpful. My next doll is gonna have wings and I drunkenly ordered feathers to make a set of wings for someone else.
I should be responsible and not buy another doll.I should be responsible and not buy another doll.
>>50549235Probably. But if it's a specific doll that's causing you to reconsider your responsibilities, that might change things.
>>50549235
>>50549235You should be irresponsible and buy me a doll instead.
Tan MDD..........
I got one blind bag that I kind of liked. I have a bigger goth one as well, but it's not as cute.
better picture
>>50550147Is it the one from ebay? She's been listed for a while.
its all of them, every one in existence..
Need Suigintou...
I apologize if this isnt the right place to ask but its ball jointed so worth a try, but, anyone know what these are called? Like giant plushie like dolls that are pose able and dressableIve seen some that are 1/4 like MDD size too but, anyone know what theyre called? Want to see more information about them but cant find a name or anything
>resin wig up on mercari>200$how viable is bank robbery in minecraft
>>50550312Those are not ball joints. Why the hell does everyone think if it moves, it's a "ball joint" ?A ball joint is a SPECIFIC type of joint. That is just a jointed plush.
>>50550312I do not know, anon, it seems to be a type of artdoll as far as I would know. It's very cute, and I hope you can find more about them so you can take one home for yourself. Whenever you see one posted, don't be afraid to reach out and ask more about it through a translation tool. Most people are happy to explain about their hobbies and interests. Good luck!
>>50550852I guess my picture wasnt the best but the joints under the clothes are literally spherical>>50551012Thanks sister, I hadnt heard the term art doll before much appreciated will definitely keep searching
>>50550852I mean technically all the vinyl dolls that get posted here aren’t BJDs either, they’re MJDs
>>50551018Is it teddy bear spine? Picrel. Anon is right that ball joints are a specific construction -- either strung together with elastic, or with a peg-and-socket system in vinyl dolls -- but I can see why something called "doll armature" would make one think of BJDs -- just like the overly vague term "art doll", this term too is rather nondescript. You might also have luck with terms like "soft sculpture". Their katakana equivalent usually works in search, literally "アートドール". Even if it's not technically on-topic for the thread, I still wish you all the best in making your own personal doll dreams come true. >>50551069You aren't wrong there, and this stems from them being sort of "grandfathered in" to doll circles when Volks started producing them since Volks was already an established resin BJD producer. But for the purposes of this thread, especially since resin anime-style sculpts used to be much more uncommon, they're both on-topic. All dolls are good dolls at the end of the day.
>>50551018A "ball joint" on a toy is a very, very specific type of joint held together by a tension system and not on a plush, and it being "spherical" is not indicative of it being a ball joint. For example, barbie has "spherical" joints but they are not ball joints, they are ball and peg joints, or ball and hinge joints. Each are describing a very different classification and also history on top of the joint as well. I've also seen photos of this toy in action and it appears to be buttons. High quality jointed plushes have a long history behind them, but they use basically their own neat tricks and specific ways to joint due to fabric material. (See: history of the teddy bear) (This isn't to say one is "worth" more than the other either.)
>>50550312Found a reddit thread that suggested looking up either "ghost mother doll" on aliexpress or "鬼妈妈玩偶" if you know your way around taobao. I briefly checked and the body seems close to what you're looking for, but the eyes are different. Hope that helps!
>>50547385These dolls, yet of good quality, do not retain the likeness of the original characters. For 1500 euros, I would have liked something more authentic. You pretty much pay for the dress.
>>50551362Doll sculpts are sort of like art styles. The designer takes the inspiration they are given and represents it in their own style. Some stick very close to the source material, and some abstract it more. Many of us would prefer dolls which more accurately represent the aesthetics we are accustomed to from the original work, but I'm sure this interpretation will also have a market (particularly within Japan, where -- paradoxically, I know -- western-style doll aesthetics are very popular amongst doll collectors.)
>>50551362It's kind of a mix between the classic resin look and leaning a little into anime style, and not just a straight up anime sclupt. It's the nose and lips. Although the rozen maiden dolls were classic resin dolls, so if they actually existed irl or live action they would look more like this.
>>50551481>>50551506Let properly rephrase my post.By likeness i do not mean 1:1 anime projection, but a more realistic approach toward the original anime charter: A better interpretation. Now I get how personal it gets. The current dolls do not catch the original character personality. The Shinku head is just plain wrong, too soft, it doesn't retain the "benevolent severity" of her character. For Suiseiseki, it's better, but lacks her mischievous retardation and innocence etc...In the end, It's mostly up to my own perspective and optic. But i don't like what I am seeing.
>>50551614I agree. These are mere imitations.Only Rozen could create those dolls.

>>50551614Nah I completely agree with you, they don't look like the characters. Are they beautiful? Yes. I can understand why someone would want them. But they don't look RM to me.
>>50552484I appreciate this autism, it makes the thread interesting. I'm not kidding either, and let's me review and reflect on what makes a good character design. >>50551506>>50551481Doll sculpting sounds like an interesting niche hobby to get into...I do know that Chinese driven BJDs tend to emulate more traditional western style dolls, to a degree.
>>50551362>>50551614No, anon, you are objectively right. None of them look like the characters.
>>>50546576I already said so in the last thread, but your Old Christmas Day photos with your girls were fun and thanks for sharing!
Alright, which anon is posting on twitter again?
>>50555340jurgen, he's based out of okinawa i think. smart doll enjoyer.
Man, there's a lot of petty cunts in this hobby. Not in here, it's actually pretty wonderful in here. But other doll spaces are so fucking dramatic I swear. Ironic that 4chan has the most civil doll space.
>>50555412He's a cool guy and takes time to make good shots of his dolls. Nothing but appreciation, I'm just poking fun of the typical 4chan user.
>>50550312Like this one? I've seen them on Etsy as ball jointed rag dolls.
Look at what showed up at my doorstep.
>>50555786Very nice, when did you order it?
>>50555789Just over a week ago. I'll probably do a full unboxing of her in another couple of weeks, when the time is right... perhaps at the start of the Chinese New Year and when Neptune transitions into Aires from Pisces.
>>50555791Ooh from another reseller? I thought they stopped her production for years
>>50555793Indeed, I bought from a reseller. I may try to get Shinku at some point as well if the opportunity presents itself.
>>50555796Good luck Anon, I'm waiting for my Suiseiseki as my first doll. Shinku looks very well made, but I bet it'll be very pricey. Can't wait to see some photos!
>>50555799Thanks. I plan to take good care of her! I've also ordered some doll wire to help with her poses, waiting for that to arrive.
>>50555786>>50555791congrats anon! Shes beautiful!
>>50555786Grats anon. How do you budget for this sort of large purchases?
>>50556493I budgeted all of my spare income into investing in stocks and precious metals for years before I started spending money on other things.
>>50556567Based responsible splurger. I too am out here working on generational wealth for my dolls
>>50556620>I too am out here working on generational wealth for my dollsThis is the way.
>>50555786>>50555791>>50556567Very nice, can't wait for the unboxing. Did you get Suiseiseki too?
>>50556027>>50556724Thanks. I will be sure to share photos of the unboxing towards the end of the month! I did purchase Suiseiseki, but I probably won't receive her until late 2026 or early 2027. The first batch won't be ready until summer. Gonna be quite the wait.
