I just got a high paying job and in celebration I'm going to update my arsenal. Pls give input on my choices for these roles and let me know if there's something better:

>Ruger SFAR as main DMR rifle, open to other short receiver .308 ARs or a .308 bullpup
>M&P9 or 10mm Witness as handgun, I do live in grizzly country and this will be my primary HD/clearing gun
>Kel Tec RDB as building clearing/HD rifle
>KSG as HD shotgun
>Mossberg Aftershock as drone gun to be worn on a scabbard, can also double as bear gun with slugs
>300WM rifle as sniper (undecided but either a cheapo Savage bolty or go all in and get a Desert Tech SRS for $6k)

Already have my carry guns set and most of the common rifles for range funs but want specific ones that best fill those roles. What are your go-to's?

10k might notbe life changing or anything but is an amount of money people would pragmatcally spend towards a car or home improvement projects. Not toys which is what this thread is ostensibly about
>>
>>64760567
Theyre not toys they're action figures. How do you feel about me getting the WLVRN and it basically doing everything in those possible scenarios? Does even owning just one gun make it a toy? Aren't we all larping?
>>
>>64760567
That's not really the situation at hand though, is it? OP isn't someone who's living paycheck to paycheck and is suddenly given a 10k lump sum, he's someone who's presumably got their life sorted out and has achieved a bump in their steady salary on top of that. If he was happy with his life and wasn't struggling to pay the bills 6 months ago then it's perfectly reasonable to spend some money a bit liberally now. If his car was fine before his pay went up, then there's no reason to suddenly buy a new one.

On the other hand, as someone whose salary has gone up by more than 10k per year for the last 10 years, OP, I implore you to put a sizeable portion of your newfound income toward some sensible investments. If you're expecting your salary to continue increasing then it's very easy to say to yourself something along the lines of "the 5, 10 or 15k I could afford to invest now won't really make a noticeable difference compared to my future earnings so I might as well spend it all", then you hit 30 and realize you've got an income of 200k but no real wealth to speak of.
>>
>>64760672
I went from 78k to 115k and have a comfy 20 year retirement. I'm buying a house when the jewing slows down and will put any extra cash into a HYSA or personal retirement plan. I know financial stuff to an ok extent and since my retirement is actually in the foreseeable future I've always actually put into it. Normies who retire at 72 or whatever, idk how they do it and understand why they never actually think to invest in it. You might not even make it to that age.
>>
>>64750963
>KSG as HD shotgun

Smith & Wesson one.

>M&P9 or 10mm

Ruger 10mm levergun's fun, for full anti-ursine mode.

>RDB

Desert Tech WLVRN caliber swap convenience is more regretful purchase proof and could sub in for the .308 below.

>SFAR as main DMR
>other short receiver .308 AR

so the ammo is completely interchangeable without any complications on D barrels but everything else is 53r only?

I personally wouldn't modern ammo in the older M27 and M28 rifles without checking the diameter of the barrel but M39's will be completely fine with or without the D barrel

which weapons would a modern day vampire hunter use? no wooden stakes, no crossbows, silver blades, no holy water flasks or garlic necklaces allowed, just modern cutting edge tech.

That was the plan with FCS. It didn't work then, and probably won't work for another decade or two, at which point it'll be the gunner that gets replaced by AI, not the TC. But, while a computer might be able to shoot clear targets marked by the TC today, I doubt it can handle all of the decision-making that the gunner has to do, particularly when something goes wrong and he has to adapt.

Some sort of six legged insect robot the size of a large dog or donkey. It can carry all the supplies and ammo and scurry up slippery jungle hills. With modern lasers, capacitors, and power plants how many 500 lb JDAMs could be shot down if all were targeting the laser?
Let's assume 2 kilometers altitude, 1000 km/h speed.
Could they even do 1?
>>
What's the mechanism a laser disables a JDAM? Fry its fuse? Its laser guidance package? Detonate its explosives?
Do modern US bombs have explosives that explode when they get hot?
>>
>>64760506
>With modern lasers, capacitors, and power plants how many 500 lb JDAMs could be shot down if all were targeting the laser?
Realistically like, maybe one? Lasers aren't anywhere near powerful enough to be instantly popping incoming munitions, they require time on target. And even if they were that fast, heat buildup prevents shooting for significant lengths of time.
And then even if you did solve these problems, you'd start coating munitions in ablative material for use against lasers.
>>
>>64760506
Lasers are good against missiles and drones because all it needs to do is disable or render inaccurate the thing pushing the munition forward.
A gravity bomb following a ballistic trajectory is going to hit roughly the same place whether you blind it or cook its guidance or whatever. It's going to be much harder for a laser to hard kill destroy a JDAM before it hits the ground.

Congrats on a nice compass, something you can have your whole life. Learning land nav/orienteering is useful, and beneficial even if you use GPS and digital options. Something to do is get some topo printed for your area and places you go outdoors, if you laminate them even better, would also recommend some ranger beads to pace count.

Convenience can make a big difference to your water intake. If taking a drink means taking your pack of or awkwardly reaching for a badly positioned pocket then you're going to hydrate less than someone who can just sip from the tube dangling over their shoulder.

Anyone here actually use D-Lead products, or any leadremovers in general?
I am currently looking at wipes, hand soap, body wash & shampoo, laundry detergent, and a lot more but theres too many to name...How many should I buy, and should I just buy all of them to be safe?
I shoot a fair amount and I’m going to be shooting way more this year than I ever have, and I'm starting to wonder how paranoid I should be about lead exposure...Because I’ve heard horror stories about young dudes who shot their whole lives, never wore gloves, never washed right, ate at the range, reloaded bare-handed and endedup with fcknCANCER or straight up DEAD a few decades later from lead poisoning.

>Is this a legit concern, or am I turning into a schizo?

>>
>>64758883
well if you stick your fingers in body orifices right after shooting guns, i think you have bigger problems than lead poisoning
>>
>>64758876
>get any symptons
Symptoms are a bad standard to have, if you have noticeable symptoms of lead poisoning you already have irreversible damage you haven't noticed. They happen slowly so like having hearing loss if you're noticing it you're already fucked. You want to stay well below the threshold of ever showing any symptoms. Assuming western normal levels of hygiene most of the lead hazard in shooting is in inhalation, not consumption. It's in the air and gets deposited on stuff which means you're breathing it. See >>64756731 where I lead tested my face and sunglasses and got positive lead tests after shooting outdoors, and I wasn't even shooting anything really gassy like a suppressed rifle that gasses you out.

>>64758911
>Forgetting about finger food and sandwiches.

Yeah, I wash my hads with d-lead after shooting, and I wash parts kits with it before I work on them.
