How does it feel knowing that you live paycheck per paycheck and the slightest drawback could make you homeless, despite earning twice the average euro salary? Do you enjoy having like 3 days of unpaid vacation and being in crippling debt already at 19? And they call us europoors lmao, you're a country of slaves.

Would a sleeve gun actually be viable in real life?
>>
>>64688416
That is called a "holdout device"; they are a thing though mainly used for cheating at gambling or for stage magic tricks. They are real and they do work. But it's obviously not practical for any sort of general use, it's not like anybody could reasonably wear that kind of thing all the time, and the chance of something going wrong with it or it being noticed is much higher than carrying a gun some normal way. Maybe there's some super weird niche where it might make sense but generally speaking it's just silly.

The US Navy on the other hand...
>>
>>64687667
Could you present some sources for some of this? Wiki may not always be 100% on the ball up to date, but according to it the Sichuan (Type 076) only just started sea trials last month and isn't expected to actually be in service until 2027. Wiki also suggests that maybe 3 052Ds have entered service since 2022, or maybe just launched? With possibly 6 more under construction. Also, worth keeping in mind that the Fujian took about a decade from laying down to entering service recently; it's not like they churned it out in just a couple of years.
>>
>>64688774
My bad, it's a type 075, not the 076. You are correct, the 076 is still in sea trials.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyt2rqSDH1M

Wiki is usually a bit behind since it's hard to find citable sources for chinese ship commissionings.
It's easy when they do a celebration and media reports about it as with Fujian, but for DDs there is usually no news article.

Could you flaming faggots tuck your little dicks away for a moment and just recommend a HANDHELD BATTERY POWERED radio for receiving AND sending?
>oooo baofeng badd satellite disc radio go brrr number stations BEP BOP BEP BLOOP
This is a weapons board. The context of radios is combat or readyness, not running a radio station. Nobody here is interested of a radio which can't be used for communication or which can't be transported. You're a complete idiot if you realize this only by now and your knowledge is completely useless if it can't be applied.
>>
>>64688756

Think along the lines of survival or guerilla action. Can you connect a directional wire antenna or a similar long range antenna for this? If the rubber duck antenna is as bad as I've understood it to be, it would require a different antenna for anything else than communicating with nearby squads or team members. If such are available then can you recommend one?
>>
>>64688807
>connect a directional wire antenna or a similar long range antenna for this?
Of course. It may require some DIY work, but radio is all about DIY.
> If such are available then can you recommend one?
Gold standards are Nagoya NA-771 and Signal Stick. The foldable tape measure antennas are crude but work.

Nta but the last 3 590s I saw, one wouldn’t keep shells in the tube, one wouldn’t cycle at all without a great amount of force, and the third the pump would bind, so you probably want to look elsewhere, especially since the 590 is more money for the 500 for no benefit besides being more of a workout to carry.

>This weakness allowed Mossberg, Beretta, and Benelli to gain a lot of ground in the past 20 years or so.
mossberg and beretta (and it's subsidies) gained ground on the 870 because hunting fell out of fashion and with it hunting shotguns fell out of fashion and that caused remington to go into debt which caused that left wing jewish cocksucker mitt romney to buy remington and destroy it and have it produce shitty pieces of rust
>>
>>64688062

>>64688130
When it comes to quality pump actions almost all failures are user induced. I own a Maverick 88, 500, and 590, which have all worked without issue. I am not calling you a liar, but maybe the samples you've seen weren't handled correctly. Additionally if you think an a1 is too much extra weight you ought to exercise more.

We know US shipyards can build DDG(X) sized ships, it'll be 5+ years before there are shipyard slips available to build the USS compensation class unless you just cancel and scrap a bunch of aircraft carriers. Assuming congress approves funding and assuming an actual real world design exists and not just a shitty AI render with cool lasers and missiles in stupid places.

It's a stupid idea that won't be funded, moves in the opposite direction the US Navy needs to move in; the US Navy needs more fucking escorts, not more giant targets. Even if everything started moving now we wouldn't see a working vessel for 10+ years. 28 ships that can be built in the next 15 years are better than 25 ships that won't exist for 30 years.

Why dont we have nuclear powered surface ships besides carriers?
Also, how much supplies are flown in for carriers out at sea? Is it a constant stream of helis just carrying supplies? Where does the supplies come from? The pacific is pretty fucking far from America.

those are USN problems due to pork barreling.
French Navy just uses civilian reactors on their SSN. French CVN then gets SSN reactors.
>>
>>64686611
>so they overengineered it
Not exactly. Rickover was legendarily conservative with his approach to design. When the Navy decided that it wanted a nuclear carrier, he insisted that they build it just like a conventional one...but with reactors instead of boilers. Conventional carriers had 8 boilers, so Enterprise got 8 reactors.

As it turned out, this wasn't a great idea for a variety of reasons, so the Nimitz class got a pair of A4W's instead.

> I bet the motherfucker would have hit 60 knots
Don't back that bet with money unless it's money that you want to lose. Memes aside, she made about the same amount of power as a Kitty Hawk and had a far heavier displacement. Nimitz makes almost as much shaft horsepower and displaces less. The sea stories of Enterprise doing amazing things are just that...sea stories. She was fast, but not significantly faster than what came before or after. When Westinghouse designed the A2W, they did so with the knowledge that 8 of them would be going into a carrier as a one-for-one replacement for existing boilers and that's what they designed for.
>know the difference between a sea story and a fairy tale?
>a fairy tale begins with, "once upon a time..."
>a sea story begins with, "this ain't no bullshit..."

This might be too vague and childish a question but if they ever iron out that "fusion reactor in a cargo container" type design, would it be seen in smaller ships because it's not as hazardous as a fission reactor?

I do grasp the outside of how open ended and asinine this question is (what if they invent magic?) because they don't have fusion reactors at all yet, but what also crosses my mind is how, say, an iPhone has an unspeakably complex and powerful CPU in it and they spam them by the millions to be operated by coons. Since there's no nasty uranium or giant lead shields involved could some plausible future reactor, say, get stuffed in every Burke sized ship?
>>
>>64688339
Fusion reactor will still need a lead shield, that's just how it is with all nuclear reactions including He-3.
