Today the Somaliland coast guard showed off its entire coast guard to celebrate Israeli Recognition
I'm sharing every boat showed off. Seems to be 1 warship, a few patrol boats and 2 other boats

P-6s did serve in the somali navy but this is likely a copy
>>
>>64688653
If it is fiberglass or metal it is a copy or later model, the original was wood. They are so basic and easy to build that there are around a dozen nations that made them, Somaliland could easily copy one or acquire it.

It might also just be a random boat that looks like a P-6.
>>
>>64688768
Problem is theres no heavy documentation about the somaliland coast guard
Its effective against pirates but thats all we know
>>
>>64688778
What do the people in Somaliland think about what the recognition would do, if anything at all?
>>
>>64688799
It paves the way for the rest of Israel's vassals (the entire west) to recognize them in turn. It's a good move in geopolitical terms regardless to establish another western foothold in the gulf when China and Iran are trying to take control of it.

High end sporting guns are often offered in 16ga, 20ga, or even 28ga.
The super-rich fucks who guy these things rarely care about factors like ammo cost and availability of ammo.
All they care about is if the guns are potent enough to take down game birds, and if they're svelte, light, and handy to point around.
As far as they care, small bore guns are good enough for shooting pheasants, pigeons, and quails, and they're much lighter and handier to carry around than some 10GA agricultural tool chambered for shoulder destroying 4½" Über-Magnum shell with 3oz of shot in them.

38 spl is the best example. It can be shortened to the length of 380 acp but it's not. And after all the changes in service rifle cartridges, I refuse to believe 9 mm is still the best pistol round. Nobody is interested in inmaxed calibers like 5.7 or 30 super carry because they cost more money because nobody is interested in them because they cost more. Like a perpetual motion machine.

>>
>>64686366
I would assume so. there shouldn't be any more difference between 9mm and .380 on moonclips in a 9mm cylinder than you'd run into with .38s in a .357 cylinder, which is none at all.
>>

>I hate how handgun calibers are low effort 100 years old status quo
Technologies hit plateaus sometimes.

>38 spl is the best example. It can be shortened to the length of 380 acp but it's not.
To what end? .38 Special is practically a legacy cartridge, yeah, it's longer than it needs to be, but that's because it's a cartridge from 1898 and was first loaded with blackpowder, where it needed that extra volume. This later allowed for the .357 Magnum cartridge's development.

You're looking at a whole bunch of economic and cultural inertia, there's no good reason to make a shorter .38 Special because all of the guns and tooling already exist, and nobody is going to spend more money on getting in on a hypothetically slightly better variant when it's cheaper and more practical to either stick with the older type guns and ammo, or go for something more modern than a revolver anyway.

>Nobody is interested in inmaxed calibers like 5.7 or 30 super carry
Probably because 5.7mm is dubious as a pistol cartridge, and even less viable from shorter barrels, meaning you can't do subcompacts akin to a 9mm Glock 26 or M&P Shield.
.30SC is too much of a sidegrade from 9mm Luger to most people to be worth bothering with, particularly when 9mm Luger is going to perform better and be less loud.

(as discussed a thosand times on prior threads, and already noted in post (You) relied to) 10 mm is for game hunters and long range target shooters who custom load. A 5-inch or longer barrel is requured for 10 mm, otherwise the gases and pressure/energy are wasted flamewise out the muzzle. It is a blaster round

Which ones? There's more than 3 good guns in 380, but whichever they are, get to be what they are specifically because of how pathetically weak 380 is. For instance, it's not a trivial task to make PPK shoot 9mm.

>>
The Qing had a clusterfuck military system that was ill prepared for fighting internal unrest by the 19th century let alone a professional foreign military.
prior to the mid 19th century the Qing military could be divided into two parts. The firist part which was supposed to be the "real" professional standing army were the Banners. They functioned similar to the samurai as a hereditary warrior class that was supposed to be dominated by ethnic Manchus (even if in practice ethnic Han and other ethnicities seeped in) and ironically enough had similar issues that the samurai faced in Japan. hereditary titles and stagnant wages meant that you had a leadership filled with incompetent brats who only got the job through their bloodline while the masses of regular warriors were either poor or forced to take up civilian occupations part time to make ends meet. corruption was fairly endemic and training middling at best. It's a system that given it's major issues wouldn't have survived if not for the ethnic question, the banners were supposed to be the Manchu dominated warrior shock troops who in the worst case scenario could protect the Manchu elite.
The Green standard army is a weird quasi armed force that originally came about as a secondary army to employ defecting han chinese soldiers from the Ming dynasty. they were used as a police force but the incompetence the banners showed even quite early on in the Qing's history in suppressing rebellions meant they also took on rebellion suppression as a job. So they functioned as a sort of police/interior security hybrid force.
in addition to quite explicitly evolving into a force who weren't really designed to fight except in the face of rebellions the army struggled from familiar issues of poor pay leading to corruption and a general decline in efficiency.
So the dynasty was woefully prepared to handle the million rebellions of the 19th century, let alone a modern army

honestly that doesn't even do the Miao rebellions justice
it was like 20 years of an absolute clusterfuck of multiple revolts devastating both Yunnan and Guizhou, you had muslim hui losing this shit in Yunnan while Guizhou was a shitfest of ethnic rebels, Taiping rebels, and other malcontents. A conservative estimate is 1/3 of Guizhou's population died during the course of it all, up to 2/3 if you take more liberal estimates at face value. and something like a million people in Yunnan

The radiological fallout is vastly overstated. Cold War total atmospheric detonations did fuck-all to total radiation levels except in the fucking craters they made.
The danger is large scale fires, overwhelming emergency services etc. If your city suffers a strike and you are not in acute need of assistance, just stay inside, conserve heat, battery, water etc. Help your neighbours, organize as much as possible.
Hiroshima was not flattened by the nuke, the nuke started a large fire which consumed it due to being built out of wood and paper.

In a scenario where Europe is rendered completely or nearly uninhabitable, like in those declassified wargames from the late 80s, Switzerland is fucked as well. Almost all towns are on the Swiss plateau in frontof the actual alps, not IN the mountains. And all the talk about bunkers for the civilian population is a meme. A higher percentage might survive the initial exchange and might survive for longer after, but they'd be just as fucked as everyone around them. There's also scenarios in which the major Swiss cities get nuked, because they're obviously entangled with western elites financially and possible logistical hubs for finance, communication, evacuation etc.

The average WW2 veteran saw 4x less combat than a Vietnam veteran, 6x less combat than a GWOT veteran, and spent less than 5% of the time of a GWOT veteran in range of the enemy.
Let that sink in. Average actual-combat experience has increased slightly in every war since the 1700s and average time in and around war has increased more.

It's making a brief old-age reprise in the 2017-2027 period. I call them Tom Clancy enjoyers. They love conventional war, but they don't know anything about modern conventional war, so they stick to throwing insults at COIN lads. Zero combat experience there either ofc.

And that might be fine for a guy hunting in the woods with about 30 pounds worth of gear, but the modern soldier is carrying close to 100 pounds of gear. IMO, the NGSW should be something that every squad gets one or two of. Sticking in for the DMR role, as opposed to the service rifle for everyone. The AR platform still could use an overhaul WRT the ammo. The Army's caseless program was going extremely well until this retarded shit went down. A partially caseless (this seemed to be the most reliable and economical solution), updated AR-15 would have solved a shitload of problems on its own. Still use 5.56 but the extra performance you get from the round, and the lighter weight is a win-win for everyone. And, on top of that, Sig gets their pole polished by giving some guy a new rifle in each squad without it being absolutely retarded.
>>
>>64687185
Troops have always bitched about the weight of their gear. The real issue is that the M5 is an unreliable piece of shit with the service life of a mayfly, tiny mags, and a combat load of ammo that'll run out a third of the way through a modern gunfight.
It also has shit-tier accuracy, wandering zero, is fragile as fuck, and offers few or no advantages over regular 7.62mm rifles in the same size and weight class.

It's a DMR without the accuracy.
An SBR without the short OAL, because it can't be used without a can.
And a suppressed rifle without a suppressor because it still produces a fuckload of noise, muzzle blast, and flash with the can installed.
It's a product of an Israeli company disguised as a Euopean one, engineered by nameless/stateless contractors, assembled with Indian parts, and the only logical explanation for why it was even adopted is extreme corruption or Epstein-level blackmail.
That's not even mentioning the shear retardation that is SIG-Israel's pointless proprietary ammo. The only reason it exists (beside increasing profit margins) is to allow high velocities from short barrels, which is a moot point, since it's useless without a can which increases the effective "barrel" length beyond at least 16-17".

An actual FN FAL from the late 1950s is a better rifle. That thing can fire regular standard ammo, it's lighter, and it won't catastrophically break after 1,500 rounds.

Long time no see /k/. Think I could get some info on this revolver I picked up today? I ain't finding much online.
