Pistol related but last question thread died a while ago. Are all 1911 .45 barrels interchangeable with all other 1911 models? I've got a Kimber and want a threaded barrel for it and I'm wondering if I should just get a Kimber barrel for it.
>>64707814A replacement sounds fair to me, what're the odds this happens twice?Bad omens aside, the only thing you'd be out would be the time spent waiting on the replacement to be delivered.
Can someone help me identify this bayonet? It belonged to and was used by my grandfather during the Vietnam War. He was a marine and I can't figure out what it is exactly. It's got a button to release like an M6, but the button is small, the hilt is different, and the blade is longer. I thought it was an M14 Bayonet but it doesn't look quite right and my dad says that he used it on an M16. He was deployed in the late 60s.
>>64708151My M7 to compare it to.
>>64708151>>64708157that's a garand bayonet buddy
>>64708151That's the "M1" pattern version of the M1905 bayonet.it will mount on the M1 Garand and the M1903."U.F.H."= "Union Fork and Hoe", it should have a manufacture date on the other side of the ricasso.
the seller says not to use them in self loading shotguns (pumps and semi) will they just get stuck occasionally or will it damage the extractor(s)?
>>64707809>Combination gun is great, though they tend to fall into the categories of crappy or expensive as ballschiappa make the double badger which ive always wanted to buy. they also make a more expensive version that has a wood stock and a bunch of cartridge adaptors. like I said though. I want it to be a pump action shotgun. or in the case of the shockwave, a pump action firearm
>>64707747Cricket .22 would be physically smaller than 10 shot shells and not useless like a sub caliber insert with a barrel shorter then 8"
>>64707816Shot a live round behind the boresighter. I was going to sight in a dot on a 300bo build after this one and for some reason I already thought I had switched guns so mentally I was expecting to see a dot and didn't think much of it. I have this weird feeling that one day when I'm at the range I'm gonna come across my boresighter sticking out of a tree or something.

They work good; all except the .22lr. The center to rimfire doesn't work well. If you had a red dot on the shotgun you could likely get it dialed in pretty good. The short ones don't get the bullet up to full ass but still accurate up to about 100yards or so.They cost like $30 on ebay.
Smartphone finger print sensors now work almost flawlessly, it only fails 0.001% of the time.Wouldn't be wise to make a gun that only the registered cop can shoot? This way the cop would never be afraid of having the gun stolen from him.A lot of cops die this way.It should have a tiny OLED display on the back that says gun unlocked/lock, and the current ammo of the clip.
>please wait>scanning fingerprint>. . .>. . .>. . .>ERROR! Keep finger on the scanner until scan is complete.>meanwhile, cop is dead or dying because the firearm had a safety lock to make sure no one but the authorized user can use itGG. How many Tsar bombas(100megaton ones), would you require to completely sterilize south asia?
>>64703872all of them
>>64703884When you get big enough you can make the atmo work for you. The Orion gigaton kamikaze would have detonated above the upper atmosphere, heated it with minimal fallout, and then re-transmitted that heat onto the target continent for a nice even roasting to simultaneously set the whole zone on fire.

>>64705242A 200 megaton warhead on a drone that fits in a submarine? Doubt it. Hauling along Tsar Bomba at 50 megatons required a specially modified Tu-95 bomber. Quit falling for the propaganda. A heavy ICBM fielded by Russia is much better suited for a shit ton of smaller warheads. That’s been their ICBM strategy ever since they fielded heavy ICBMs. Pretty sure their largest warheads are on the Topols with 1 megaton. China still fields 5 megaton warheads meanwhile

What’s the best gun for hunting polar bears?
>>64695015Polar bears hunt and eat humans

This could be tested on someone.Post the video here if you do this.
yeah
>>64708135There gazillion videos on yt. Also my coworker has it, it didn't actually hurt through my winter jacket(light-to medium). But we used regular rubber projectiles. I know that some pointy metal ones exist also.
Im sitting here with my thumb in my ass and my dick in my hands waiting for a full size double stack .30 super carry gun to come out. Why did the faggots at s&w release a subcompact that is actually pretty nice but then also a single stack old lady gun no one wants? And even worse the old lady gun is actually really decent??? I dont want to give Rob Pincus money but i might have no other options to satiate my .32 lust
Just get a 30 luger barrel for a block or 1911 and load your own and you'll be able to mog 7.62 tok and 30sc. Should scratch the itch. It's a shame they didn't offer factory 71 and 85gr loads to market it as a tok and 5.7 mogger
>>64704820I would buy one immediately if somebody made it. I want a full sized duty pistol that's absolutely packed to the brim with 30 sc, but that's too cool so it will never happen
Why would anyone spend any money developing a gun for a cartridge that hit the market with a wet splat three years ago and has done fucking nothing since? If you want a wonky round buy a .327 magnum revolver.
>>64708106>matches 5.7 capacity in full size pistols with a smaller grip or standard 9mm sized grip>can be easily adapted to conventional browning action pistols>matches 5.7 velocity with a 75% heavier projectile >would be the double stack tok many people claim to wantVista fucked up by trying to shoehorn it into the same role as 9mm
>>64704820I've been wondering the same thing since it came out, glock 17 sized gun with a 23 round mag or whatever would go crazy. The caliber was a "flop" because they released it during covid when ammo was expensive as fuck and everyone was nervous to shoot their fucking .38 specials and .45 autos, let alone buying a new caliber that only one company produces. I'm not saying they should have postponed it but if it came out in 2025 it probably would have been a hitv
These beauties need to be shown a lot more love.

>>64708108I'm not but you're clearly here to not really further the conversation about why CTA isn't adopted for small arms.
>>64698470It’s a fascinating experimental design, but I wouldn’t call it a pretty one.
>>64708094For additional illustration for anyone who doesn't understand why I bring up 105/120mm ammo vs the 40CT having the unusually shaped sabot in regards to barrel engagement.
>>64702396>>64702687>>64702751>>64707986>>64708136To clarify: For small arms you need CTA ammo to effectively hop out of the cartridge and into the freebore/jump and the distance that it has to do that is fairly big due to the ogive of small arms ammo in contrast to >>64708094 with autocannon ammo. This is why I bring up the unusual sabot design where it is extended all the way forwards to minimize the jump in contrast to the HE rounds where having worse BC but better fill mass is acceptable because it helps with how fast the round begins to engage the rifling after it exits the chamber.I am sure someone being paid to do R&D (or multiple someones in a team) somewhere is looking at how to implement this for infantry small arms and/or it might get the juice squeezed by some government but 2025 was not that year
Why isn't this gun more popular? The magazine makes it easier to carry in my opinion
>>64706215a 20rd ar magazine is the same length as the grip you nogunz retard. haven't you seen a picture of an m16a1 before? people choose lever actions because of tradition and because of hunting caliber restrictions in their state
>>64706215>Guns are more compact and easier to maneuvernot really>Why do you think so many people pick lever action rifles as their brush gun instead of an AR?Because lever actions are fun. >thousands of roundsthat's always such a cope. I have thousands of rounds. it's not hard to when you're got like .22lr and .223/5.56.The guy in the article was a felon in possession so whatever, ignoring that. Why would you own like 15 ARs? I have a carbine and a 20 inch hbar. Like I understand having more than one AR. I understand having multiple carry guns for different weather, having a collection of curio and relics (even if they don't fit the ATFs definition of C&R like if an action for a new gun is cool or modern millsurp or whatever), I understand having multiple hunting rifles or shotguns for different game or having multiple target rifles or clay shotguns for different sports shooting. I don't understand having 15 copies of what is basically the same fucking AR.
>>64706404>i don't like himnot an argument
>>64706404Everyone is a felon if the government deems it so and the threshold for DV is so low in most states that pushing a hysterical woman off you can lose you your firearm rights. The law makes no distinction between circumstances of the conviction, it's a yes/no. My personal belief is that if you are not on parole, probation, or incarcerated you should have all of your rights.
>>64706404>Now go be a redditor somewhere elseHe says while posting the most r*ddit take imaginable.
>>64707107>parole, probationWhy?Historically in the US, gun rights were restored on release. Also, releasing dangerous people into the general public when they can't even be trusted with a gun seems deliberate. It feels like a way to force us to be more agreeable to gun prohibitions. Plus it would be amusing if violent criminals stopped getting short sentences and early releases because of them getting their guns back on the spot. Maybe they should be released when we can trust them with basic human rights like gun ownership.
>>64706352>I thought the ammo stockpile bait would have become ineffective after the toilet paper hoarding during covid lockdowns.you can make a big scary number on what's a reasonable amount of ammo pretty easily, especially if it's .22lr and especially since ammo doesn't take up a ton of space and rarely goes down in price
Why did they killed it?
>>64706689More and more, I’ve been encountering AI videos that I can not differentiate from real footage. This time next year, that will be true of every AI video. >>64708007No one makes a modern battlerifle is almost assuredly their justification. Hate on the SCAR all ya want, but it was legitimately the only contender that you could get your hands on that was made this century. Everything else available was originally designed anywhere from 1950 to 1980, and many of those aren't available. Look at people suggesting the PTR. Why are they doing that? Because it's the only fucking thing around that won't rape your wallet. FAL? Same era, but 2 grand. M14? Again, same era but also 2 grand (or more, depending on what we're talking about). It's why so many people just say to buy an AR-15 chambered in .308 which I'd rather cut my cock off before I'd ever do that. It blows ass that this is the reality we live in. BTW, there's nothing inherently wrong with a PTR (it's actually sort of a miracle you can get them for that cheap) but it circles back to... "This was first made in 1954!" How we have ended up in this place where no one wants to make a rifle chambered in .308 is, I just don't know. Perhaps there are better alternative rounds, certainly, but they all just get slapped into a AR-15 at the end of the day.
>>64706837It's awful. I haven't actually bought a gun in years aside from the free gibs I get from manufacturer commissions, I refuse to be a part of the consoomer culture. My regulars come in to spend hundreds of dollars on pee-pee poo-poo, only for garandthumb or whoever the fuck to make a video that week saying authoritatively that pee-pee poo-poo is no longer the meta and will get you killed/thrown in prison for life and that everyone should buy poo-poo pee-pee instead because that's what the navy seals use and they're the bestest. Cue my event horizonbrained customers rushing to try and sell back their shit that's almost always never even been fired, for an insultingly low markdown so they can turn around and buy whatever it is that's in vogue. Thank god FN unfucked their commission rewards program because I've made a killing on people buying Reflexes and 510s because some internet dipshit said they were cool.
>>64707455They always made changes, they just never integrated them into the civilian model. NRCH was first made for the HAMR in 2009, buffer adapters were made for Belgian SOF like a decade ago, German cops got Mlok handguards. It makes sense desu, put in effort for the guaranteed bulk sales, because you dont want to be left holding the bag when people decide they dont actually want the new features you've retooled for.>>64707681The MRGG was a package, so it would have been everything in the case. The scope and can, several mags, probably a second barrel and ballistic computer; plus ongoing tech support.>>64708031>No one makes a modern battlerifle is almost assuredly their justification. Hate on the SCAR all ya want, but it was legitimately the only contender that you could get your hands on that was made this century. That was absolutely true in 2004, its not now. Aside from the SR25 which was unreliable, it was literally just cold war shit. Nowadays there are a bunch of scar clones, a couple of bullpups, plus various piston and DI AR10s.
>>64708063> eventhorizonbrainedThis sounds like a great insult, but could you please elaborate on what specifically it means? (I know what an event horizon is)>>64708031There is a huge market for intermediate chambered rifles. Aside from professional use, there’s the home defense market, hunting market, LARP market, range toy market, etc. but it seems the short action and larger market is relegated to just hunters. People who actually NEED their guns and NEED a 308 for practical reasons. The latter market is minuscule compared to the former, so that explains why there aren’t too many new battle rifles. That and obviously the militaries of the world have settled on assault rifles, so the civilian meta will reflect that. Plus, a 5.56 gun is always gonna be cheaper to feed than a 308.
I lost the template :(
