Pistol related but last question thread died a while ago. Are all 1911 .45 barrels interchangeable with all other 1911 models? I've got a Kimber and want a threaded barrel for it and I'm wondering if I should just get a Kimber barrel for it.

I got a Leupold scope (4.5-14x40) but not a good mount for it. Originally it was on a bolt gun but I want it for another gun. Is there necessarily anything wrong with the scope being flat against the top rail?

What gun? You can't physically get your head low enough to do that on an AR for example, but bolt actions place the comb at such a height that it's expected to mount the scope as low as possible and have the eyebox line up with nominal physiology

EDC? i think so

I'm mates with an old M60 gunner, his attitude is it was the biggest piece of shit ever until you took fire then being able to turn most cover into concealment made it worth the suffering.
That said there were better 7.62 NATO MGs.
>>
>>64703956
>maybe the barrel is thick enough to not flex much
You can't fully prevent vibrations; you can reduce them by using a thicker barrel or by using a shorter barrel (you'll see some precision people swear by a 22" barrel rather than a 24-26" barrel), but what the precision shooters are mainly focused on isn't eliminating all the vibrations but rather making them as consistent/symmetrical as possible; if it always vibrates the exact same way, then that can be easily accounted for.

It means this general was not an isolated failure, but one of many whom Abraham Lincoln removed from command over time.

More precisely:

“the last” the most recent case, at the end of the sequence

“in a long line” there had been numerous others before him

“of generals that Lincoln dismissed” commanders Lincoln lost patience with and formally removed

These movies don't even try to have internal consistency with their combat and power dynamics.

Movie 1:
Navi have superior genetics and bodies but 3 different battles demonstrate that the training and tech of humans gives them a massive advantage. In the final battle Navi get a decent surprise off but then start getting whooped, it's only when nature itself turns against the humans that the Navi win.

Movie 2:
Recoms now exist, with the the superior weapons and tactical training combined with navi genetic superiority they should be unstoppable.
No
Neyteri goes angry mom mode and kills them even easier than she did normal humans in the last movie.
Not one recom or normal human scores a kill in this entire movie outside quaritch killing jake's son.

Movie 3:
See movie 2

James Cameron is a fucking idiot.

>Earth is literally not sending their best.
This is the main plothole that has pissed me off since 2009. It is made very clear that without unobtanium earth "dies". This is said multiple times.
If the entire planet is dependent on this shit getting mined it would be a global security issue. The best of the best of the best would be sent AFTER every known navi location was nuked from orbit.

The wiki says nukes are banned by some treaty, apparently one that is enforced by people who are okay with the planet dying? And these people haven't been guillotined yet?

It seems like cameron figured out the retarded nature of this for avatar 2 and decided to instead make it about the rich living forever... but in that same movie they double down but saying earth is dying and they're now trying to make pandora the new home for humanity so what the fuck? Why are we fucking around with "wars in Venezuela and nigeria" when this shit is going on?
>>
>>64704525
>It is made very clear that without unobtanium earth "dies". This is said multiple times.
By who? Lying corpos?
Maybe you're misinterpreting the urgency, or even necessity.
I figured it was just very profitable.

>If the entire planet is dependent on this shit getting mined it would be a global security issue
And since it's evidently not taken that seriously, maybe your interpretation was incorrect?

I would imagine that the RDA would greatly prefer that the Earth government not come and sort their shit out for them, so they're suppressing news of their losses. We're also shown a very large number of RDA wins, just never against anyone who matters.
>>
>>64704555
To be clear: The idea that a "corporation" would be in charge of this task at all is absurd. Every government on earth would be dumping every penny they could into this.

Then one handed hold is pretty easy, the target grips are shaped so your thumb naturally rests when the thumb groove at the top. Shooting a Model 29 one handed isn’t actually too bad if you’re not shooting super heavy loads and especially if you have experience.
>>
>>64702675
>>64702681
that's how I do it. As high on the grip as I can based upon the physical characteristics of the grip itself. IE a wooden grip like he posted your hand molds into the thumb cut dents in the grip etc. whereas a rubber pachmyer I can hold it up even higher.

You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>uses the safety to force the reset of the trigger
>allows for way more trigger options (you just have to trim two places)
>invented by Tim Hoffman (https://hoffmantactical.com)
>gifted to the world to freely 3D print
>enterprising people now selling super safeties made of steel (recommend at least 4140)
>cheaper than an FRT ($90-$150)
>originally a 3-position cross-bolt safety
>left is safe, right is semi, middle is super
>3-position 90° super safety selectors are now available
