Yeah, PDs can buy NIJ certified plates for cheap as fuck using DOJ BVP grants. The grants will cover up to 50% based on need, so your local Sheriff can buy Hesco 4601s for $405 a set (assuming 10% bulk / LE discount) but you pay $900.
You cannot NIJ certify a shield, because they fall under NIJ 0108.01 and not 0101.06, so PDs need to pay full price. Take a Hesco 4601, make it a 20x30 Level IV shield, you're at over $4.5k. Shields use expensive materials, and a lot of them, because weight is on a premium. Many ceramic shields use Silicon Carbide, which is very expensive from American sources but barely more expensive than Alumina from Chinese sources. Jinwudun sells big III+ SiC shields for only $1,200, and last I checked, they're still paying import charges for you. 20x35.5" windowed one here:
https://jinwudun.com/products/nij-iii-bulletproof-shield-silicon-carbide-ceramic-material-spray-polyurea-layer
Five monopoly bucks says they'll make a Level IV version if you ask, but it'll need to be wheeled unless you're the T-1000.

Cool, thanks. In your opinion, or anyone else who reads this, is there any reason to get the 3612 over the 3810? More or less the same weight, thickness, and price, but the 3810 offers slightly more protection being able to take a 7.62x63mm JSP round.
Also, generally speaking how much space is inside of plate carrier pockets thickness wise? Since these plates are light, I was wondering if I could put backers in for some more protection
>>
>>64689373
>is there any reason to get the 3612 over the 3810? More or less the same weight, thickness, and price
They're rather redundant. 3612 is slightly lighter and somewhat cheaper, but loses out on 7.62x54R LPS and .30-06 JSP. If those two aren't a problem then 3612 is the better buy. 3811 is much lighter but is significantly more expensive.
>generally speaking how much space is inside of plate carrier pockets thickness wise?
Rule of thumb is that you don't start running into fit issues until the plates are 1.15" and up, but that depends on the carrier. Plates thicker than 1.2" are iffy. My Protech 2230s for example need to be worked into my TT vest and they're 1.2" flat. Once in I can squeeze IIIA backers behind them.
>I was wondering if I could put backers in for some more protection
That will reduce BFD but not likely increase threat level by a substantial amount. At that combined weight you'd perhaps want to look at LTC 19513s or Hesco 3411s which add M855A1 protection.

Cheap, and Israeli military industry is mostly entirely private companies that will sell complete with technology transfer and support to anyone willing to pay.
>>
>>64687820
third world countries that seek to modernize with western weapons are usually met with loads of roadblocks, restrictions and conditions
while israel doesn't give a shit as long as the money is green

also they offer "western" weapons that are compatible with eastern block munitions
from galils being optionally chambered in 7.62x39 to upgrade kits to soviet tanks
which is cheaper than replacing all of that
>>
>>64689273
also PULS for example being compatible with grad

>Tends to have some American parts which we have the power to veto sales

Without delving into technicalities, even if a weapons system incorporates some US-made components doesn't make it automatically fall under ITAR.

Companies can incorporate US-made dual-use components into their systems and keep their products ITAR-free, as long as those parts are not on the United States munitions list.

That being said, the US would have an easier time strong-arming Israel even if their products were itar-free than EU countries.

Why was the Longbow in use for literally 300 years when it simply could not penetrate armor? I have watched several experiments with modern reproductions and never once has it achieved penetration of plate armor. In this latest one they can't even pen at point-blank range a late medieval brigandine and cheap Sallet helmet which was worn by poorfag troops. Rich nobles wore high-end bespoke plate made from tempered steel with every surface calculated to deflect blows and it would have zero chance against that. The amount of training that went into using the bow doesn't seem worth the results.

Those were held center grip too btw. So like always the myth of the longbow involves cherrypicking scenarios where they heaviest poundage bows firing specialized arrows at point blank range hit single digit percentage areas of a target and this is touted as a major success and proof that anything less than complete set of jousting armor is useless against them.

Holding it that way isn't going to stop an arrow from inflicting harm, and is 100% not how a line of infantry advancing to contact will hold their shields.

>In Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that "Japan's leadership is attempting to accelerate militarization," with reference to increased defense spending under the Sanae Takaichi administration. Amid escalating Japan-China tensions, he expressed Russia's firm support for China's position on the Taiwan issue, inferred that Russia would provide China with military assistance in bringing Taiwan back under China's control, and made veiled threats about the consequences of Japan interfering.

>This appears to refer to Prime Minister Takaichi's parliamentary response regarding a Taiwan contingency potentially constituting a "survival-threatening situation," the Japanese government's proposal of a record-high defense budget for fiscal 2026, and considerations to revise the three non-nuclear principles. Lavrov pointed out that the "acceleration of militarization" under the Takaichi administration "will clearly have a negative impact on regional stability."

Source:
https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/c5993ae64bfc1aa80ba17f8036e6546ea4030add

I am under no delusion that Russia's much-diminished military could provide any meaningful aid to a Chinese marine invasion of Taiwan. Nor am I deluded enough to believe that this is anything more than lip service from Russia to China--probably directly requested by China--in relation to China's crashout over the Japanese PM stating that Japan would defend Taiwan from invasion as a matter of national self-preservation.

However, I hope that statements like these from Russia convince Japanese that they have skin in the game, that it is better to kill Russians in Ukraine than in Hokkaido, and that Japan should start sending real military aid to Ukraine.

Japan's plutonium processing facilities "lose" 70-80kg/year due to inefficiencies within the process.

It would be realllllly easy to siphon a few hundred kg out of those facilities over multiple decades without IAEA inspectors noticing a damn thing.

>if it was they would be receiving sufficient aid
Aid ends when you have to pay real money or are forced to weaken yourself, decades of dismantling European military industrail complexes result in slow production and low stockpiles in first place. When it came to vehicles only USA and ex eastern block countries had some resoanble numbers to send.

I need a safe for muh gunz. It needs to be able to be wall stabilized or not a tipping hazard. Needs to be able to fix six rifles, and around a dozen pistols. Other room for bullshit like mags and ammo, and bullion would be ideal. It doesn't need to be high end, it's quite literally only being purchased so small children cannot access it with ease. I am not worried about burglars.

Do people unironically think America is going to beat China lol? Literally all China has to do is inflict ukraine level casualties on the US, which is maybe 2k a week and Americans will be in the streets protesting to end the war.

Tucker and Fuentues will be calling for an end to the conflict, blaming the sitting president, fox news or CNN will be railing the administration 24/7 depending on which party is in office. America has no chance unless they have some super weapon that can cripple China instantly.

In a scenario where Europe is rendered completely or nearly uninhabitable, like in those declassified wargames from the late 80s, Switzerland is fucked as well. Almost all towns are on the Swiss plateau in frontof the actual alps, not IN the mountains. And all the talk about bunkers for the civilian population is a meme. A higher percentage might survive the initial exchange and might survive for longer after, but they'd be just as fucked as everyone around them. There's also scenarios in which the major Swiss cities get nuked, because they're obviously entangled with western elites financially and possible logistical hubs for finance, communication, evacuation etc.
>>
>>64683800
You can't prepare for nuclear war. No where on the planet would life still be easy, no matter how much planning you do, even if your country isn't hit by nukes.

The ozone layer would be destroyed, if you went outside during the day without heavy clothing and goggles you'd have crippling burns in minutes and every person and animal would be going blind from cataracts.

The UV won't let seeds germinate so crops fail, pollinators die off, and the marine food chain collapses because the plankton gets cooked.

Most people and animals on the planet will die from malnutrition and diseases not nuke blasts and radiation.

Hey anons, I’ve started getting interested in weapons, militaria, and artillery. But I have no idea how to study or research this topic. Does any anon know or have resources for that? I always look at /k/ threads, or some messages in militaria channels on Telegram, and I get completely jealous of people’s knowledge. They can identify weapons by name, know about calibers, understand military history, etc… I wish I could have the background to join those conversations.

It takes minutes to recognize the value of a text book, download and flip through, days to plain read hundred page, and more to take notes and do practices. After all it takes half a year of 5 hrs a week to finish a book when your parent paid money for someone to nag you into finishing. The powerful feeling of getting a valuable book that feels like would answer your problem deminishes when actually invest time reading it as you don't actually have a problem at hand or would take on the problem. Retard like me just keep adding more book to the harddrive for that hit of rush.

First understand the system, e.g.
>artillery
>tanks
>armored cars
>etc
Then understand the components of said system,
>cannons
>armor
>electronic modules
>engines
Finally, after mastery of understanding some simpler, earlier systems, read about more modern weapons and tactics. It is useless to try and understand tactics if you dont understand the equipment used same for vice versa.

WW2 era tech would be a good start, as most systems (disregarding digital ones) were in use, albeit simpler precursors. Analog is much simpler to understand than electronic voodoo, starting early and working up is the way to go. Truthfully, other than some books from the library/digital downloads, Wikipedia has a majority of whatever you need to understand. Books will contain anything more specific you want to know, I would recommend New Vanguard books, they are detailed, but also relatively light reading with plenty of illustrations.
