The mods I use for the terrain and view distance are 'World of Daggerfall' and 'Distant terrain'. They just make the actual terrain nicer and let you see further. I have a fuckload of different mods for graphical, UI and visual changes that just make the game a bit nicer to look at. DREAM is pretty good but i'd recommend the DREAM 90's version instead since it retains a bit of the pixely look that gives daggerfall it's charm. I'd recommend AGAINST the 3d trees mod unless you have a sufficiently beefy PC since it can really fuck up performance if you use the distant viewing mod. Overall though, just shop around the nexus mod pages since you can usually find a bit of everything. The only tricky part of daggerfall is getting past the fact that it is a TTRG at heart, and not a general action adventure game.

You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>uses the safety to force the reset of the trigger
>allows for way more trigger options (you just have to trim two places)
>invented by Tim Hoffman (https://hoffmantactical.com)
>gifted to the world to freely 3D print
>enterprising people now selling super safeties made of steel (recommend at least 4140)
>cheaper than an FRT ($90-$150)
>originally a 3-position cross-bolt safety
>left is safe, right is semi, middle is super
>3-position 90° super safety selectors are now available

rem oil is perfectly fine, except for the fact it evaporates easily
if you keep a regimen of oiling, its actually a very good oil though

one thing to keep in mind, it has teflon in it, great for guns - terrible for you
i wouldn't worry about it though, just don't drink it or whatever

>>64754479
>Clenzoil
same, its legitimately just a great one, especially if you're in a humid state
i just wish it didn't cost so much, but its not like i shoot 24/7 either
>>
>>64754416
It's adequate for most applications. I bought it for years before I knew any better and it didn't cause me any trouble. That said, it performs much worse than many other competing products in corrosion testing so I see no reason to keep buying it.

IMHO most people overthink their firearms oils. It's like women arguing over which brand of Mascara is best. Over the years I've used tons of different gun oils. Rem Oil, Kroil, Super Lube, RWS Airgun Oil, some Italian shit that came with a Benelli shotgun, 3-in-1, various Lucas products, Vactra #2 way oil, motor oil, Yamaha 2-stroke oil, ALG "go juice", Frog Lube, some little packets of something I got free from Optics Planet, WD-40, Tri-Flow, LPS industrial spray lube, LPS gun cleaner, PCL, Eezox, and probably a half-dozen others I have long forgotten. They all worked just fine. Barring some special niche exception, it really doesn't matter which product you use, what matter is that you are using SOME kind of product now and then.

Washing your hands is way more important than gun oil, but do you overthink what brand of handsoap you're using?
>>
>>64755244
>rem oil is perfectly fine, except for the fact it evaporates easily
It's supposed to. Rem Oil, and many other gun oil products, are formulated with a solvent that's meant to evaporate leaving behind a thin film of lubricant. In the case of Rem Oil, that includes Teflon particles. Most aerosol gun lubes work like this.

Depending on what you're doing that can be a good thing or a bad thing. It's good if you're using the product as a cleaner-and-lube. It helps for penetrating down into built-up dirt, stuck parts, or areas that are difficult to access without taking the gun apart. The solvent lets the oil run down into all the little gaps and cracks, then it evaporates and leaves a thin layer of oil behind.

Guns don't need oil. And they definitely don't need oil sprayed on them from an aerosol can with included hormone disruption and PM2.5 pollutant.

Stop wasting money and destroying the planet buying single use disposable aerosol for your toys. The leftover tablespoon of motor oil in the jug after you did an oil change is sufficient to oil a rag enough to preserve your gun for the next 100 years.

I like CLP because it actually breaks up carbon. A spray bottle is like 25-30 bucks and lasts a good while. Unless you run a range buying in bulk is nice but not necessary

Do you guys think actual dogfighting will ever come back? What technology/weapon developments would be necessary for this to happen?

>Next step would be to ditch the canopy and go with cameras with automatic shutters all over the airframe
You probably want some shutters and stuff on the EO/FLIR/whatever but you're right that opaque cockpits are the future in this scenario.
Are you sure you need optics in a dogfight though?
I think it would be possible to design a sensor-fusion system that would give you situational awareness at dog-fighting ranges without necessarily needing blindable sensors.

>>64755334
>There's no margin where a human can see something but a sensor can't guide a missile into that something
Sure.
The advantage of the fighter in that scenario isn't sensors, it's armour. Or at least having enough mass, active cooling and passive heat pumping to distribute thermal energy such that lasing it isn't very effective.

>massive armoured missiles
That's a possibility, it makes your missiles chunky though so you do get back to WVR missile fights at least because your missiles need the fighter's fuel tanks to get within engagement range while still carrying armour etc. Their own fuel lasts less because of the added weight and adding bigger rocket motors means an even bigger missile and the rocket equation comes into effect.

You're saying a fighter is a missile that kills with bullets but it's a much more efficient flying machine than a missile.

If we get a war between major powers and 100 planes are headed towards another 100 planes then yes, pleantly will be able to close through the BRV chaos and fight WVR with fox 2s and guns.
If you mean will a flight of 4 getting into dogfights with another flight of 4 ever be common again then the answer is no.

Would going to an Appleseed course be worth it? I've never had any instruction in shooting and there's a few coming up within driving distance so the cost would be low. I'd use a 10/22 with an LVPO.
It kind of seems like it's all old people and kids in the basic courses, though admittedly, that's probably better than getting there and finding a bunch of spergs my own age trying to look cool. I doubt I'll find a more accessible form of training but I'm not sure if this is the best format. Like how much is shooting and how much is just listening to the instructors give a history lesson?
I also understand they put a lot of emphasis on sling use but the USGI sling they use seems pretty clunky from some of the videos I've seen so I may never swap to it but I do think having someone actually watching and give me feedback might help, especially if it's assumed I have no knowledge upon arrival.
Anyone that's been to one want to give your impressions?

>USGI sling they use seems pretty clunky
It is only clunky or awkward if it is installed incorrectly or not adjusted for the shooter's arm length. The M1907 is the absolute best sling for marksmanship, once you grasp how to use it properly and have it adjusted for your rifle and arm. They will teach you how to do this at Appleseed. Go ahead and grab one before you go, they are cheap and readily available on ebay/amazon.
>>
>>64755698
Meant to add, and make sure you have sling swivels installed on your rifle, and loops that will fit the sling. M1907s are widerer than a lot of modern slings, IRC they need a 1.5 or 2 in loop instead of the 1in that comes on a lot of modern rifles. Don't bother trying to put the sling on before you go, just take it with you and an instructor will show you how to set it up.
>>
Will you learn anything useful? No. But it's a day at the range and maybe you'll meet a new friend. If it's cheap, you should go. Don't spend real money on it though, if they want like 200 dollars or some shit, stay home and whack off instead

Unironically just carry a bigass knife. Discharging your firearm means the police will get called, and then it turns into a whole shitshow. Stabbing or cutting Fido will kill it or make it fuck off, and it will be harder to paint you as a psycho who wanted to shoot an innocent dog since the dog would obviously have to be within arm's reach for you to stab it. It gives you plausible deniability. Remember that you can cut something a little but, but you can't shoot something a little bit. You're also less likely to injure an innocent bystander with a knife vs a gun if the dog is latched onto a kid.
>>
>>64755726
>vs a gun if the dog is latched onto a kid.
If a dog is latched onto you or a kid you shoot it execution style in the heart from inches away, you don't step back and play target practice. That way there's no chance you'll miss vitals or hit someone or something behind the dog.

Australians are living too good a life to want to invade your shithole, which means you will probably invade Aus in your hypothetical, which will probably mean you will be deleted from your islands via tactical nuclear weapons due to Aus being the main resource hub for not only Indonesia but the entire world.

You don't attack the country sending you the iron ore needed to build your military.

Given that you believe in stupid prophesies you are probably dumb enough to believe this superpower cope though.

I mean, violently exploding is a bit less of an issue for a drone. What's the use-case for it, anyhow? Strap a fiddy cal and an ATGM to the top?
>>
>>64755699
> The demonstrator presented in Kielce was in a drone-carrier configuration, offering a payload capacity of 300 kilograms (661 pounds). While the specific drone types it can support have not been disclosed, the capacity suggests flexibility for a range of aerial systems.
>Other Hermione models are designed for medium- and heavy-lift roles, capable of carrying 600 kilograms (1,323 pounds) and up to 2 tons (1,814 kilograms) of cargo.
They are also talking about mounting RCWS on it. The big differentiator compared to other UGVs is the fact that it's hydrogen-powered, I guess. Time will tell if the energy density and rapid refuelling outweigh the problem of having to load or produce hydrogen at your supply point.

Only if it's somewhere that'll bother a random passersby. You could probably get away with it if the area affected is entirely on your property since it's not inherently dangerous and if someone loses a drone you can ask why they were flying a drone over your property without permission.
>>
>>64755632
yeah but you would probably be jamming yourself if you don't know enough about frequencies

People don't need your permission to fly over your property. You don't own the airspace. The only time they might run into legal issues is if they're recording or loitering over your yard or house. M84 hasn't been in active service for years, and wearing it sterile is unlikely to get any frowns, let alone fines. Wearing the desert M01 under any circumstance is autistically frowned on by the vets unless you got it issued
IIRC, fines are only issued if you can reasonably be thought to be impersonating a soldier (so presumably full uniform with insignia). I've never heard of anyone getting fined for wearing a pair of M84 pants while hiking or his Arktis jacket off duty or whatever.

Most notably, Hans-Joachim Marseille's squadron was so busy meat-shielding him that despite his spectacular individual kill count, his squadron was solidly average and did not shoot down more planes than any other Luftwaffe or Allied squadron in Africa
The same phenomenon was observed on average across all of the Luftwaffe, from 1940 to 45
