How is that Beretta managed to stay alive and mostly true to themselves for 500 years when other companies became prostitutes?

How much of a market is there for guns that aren't particularly practical, are never going to be adopted by a military or police force, but are just fun cool things to own and use?
2 replies omitted. Click here to view.

Honestly, not much. You have to at least be able to claim that you do something better or cheaper than the competition. That being said I buy plenty of guns because I think they're neat. If I was wealthy I'd buy a lot more just because they're cool or pretty. Mannlicher 1901 is on my bucket list, I'd like to rechamber it for .380 or 9mm though so I could use it as a carry piece.

American civilians literally own 10x more guns than the US government.
And that's the lowball estimate considering it doesn't account for unregistered firearms.

Let me run a ridiculous question by you, anon.
Say someone wants a bolt action that’s preferably light, and good in the rain, to just sling across their shoulder to go on hikes. Possibly try loading it down, and using shot for snakes and stuff, but also be flat shooting for longer ranges for deer and coyotes. Is such a thing possible? If so, what do you got?

Fair. Actually had my first cigarette recently. I enjoy an occasional cigar but had never had a cig before, nobody I know smokes them. But when I was traveling in South America some of my buddies had some, so I had a few. Ngl pretty mid experience, but I’m just used to the full taste of a cigar. But I can imagine the convenience and pleasure of a cigarette and how they can quickly become addictive.

The Dutch signed a deal to buy Skyranger 30 systems, for 1bn - about 300 million under the planned budget. It has not been made known how many systems are being bought, but in an earlier stage 22 mobile systems were mentioned initially - however an unannounced number of static systems and training simulators are also part of the signed deal possibly bringing it up to 75 systems. The mobile system is to be mounted on the ACSV tracked platform as pictured here. FIM-92 Stinger quad-launchers have been selected for integration. It will use an X-band AESA radar.
Rheinmetall Switzerland will produce 3 prototypes, and Rheinmetall Netherlands will partially produce and assemble the systems. Deliveries should complete by 2029.

It looks like there is some converging onto this particular system in Europe. Future operators include Germany, Austria and Denmark. Potential future operators include Belgium, Czech Rep., Hungary, Italy and Lithuania. If they all sign up there could be around 800+ of these systems in Europe by the 2030s

It's also under consideration for the US armed forces but that seems a long shot.

They're changing the aswf design to accomodate a ''land derived navalized kinetic solution'' so it seems skyranger 30/35 or milennium ciws to be fitted (potentially alongside bofors 40mm?)
>>
>>64659950
Skyranger seems a little small for a ship desu. It's intentionally a light package so you can mount it on cute little vehicles like m113 class or probably even humvee class
>>
>>64654534
>That turret gap is very triggering.
If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver.

Independence class continues to be the goto testbed for the USN when it comes to fielding experimental autonomous/unmanned or high-trade systems.

>The Independence-class littoral combat ship USS Santa Barbara (LCS 32) achieved the historic milestone in the Arabian Gulf while launching a Low-cost Unmanned Combat Attack System (LUCAS).
https://www.navy.mil/Press-Office/News-Stories/display-news/Article/4363707/us-navy-in-middle-east-employs-attack-drone-at-sea-for-first-time/

The way I see it, this provides even more asymmetric ability to the ship in the littorals and a long-range ground strike ability which some people have pointed out is missing without the inclusion of VLS cells or NLOS. What say you?

I'm sure the thread will also become a shahed-style drone discussion so that's welcome as well, particularly in the context of launching from or targetting naval platforms.

So it's primary anti ship system requires it's helicopter to either get within MANPAD range of a small surface vessel/land target OR it has two torpedoes and nothing else? It is a carrier with only one aircraft?

Hopefully the enemy doesn't use advanced tactics like sending two aggressors at it at once but that shouldn't be a issue because we will just counter by sending more of these cheap and plentiful vessels right?

Where did you get that idea?

>Hopefully the enemy doesn't use advanced tactics like sending two aggressors at it at once
Why are you offended that a corvette isn't designed to take on the entire PLAN at once?

>but that shouldn't be a issue because we will just counter by sending more of these cheap and plentiful vessels right?
They are fairly cheap for what they can do at only $500m apiece fully equipped with all government-furnished equipment and their mission module. They should be more plentiful than they are.

Longtime? Yes, go ahead and buy one. It takes a looong time to break in, but once you do it's pretty darn nice. It's benefits are it's smooth action, ease of sharpening and how it's made to take apart and put back together and still perform the same. Complete opposite of a Spyderco in that regard.

was going to give you advice that might have saved you money but frogposters deserve nothing

I've got a tx22 toro with FRT and it'll run everything unsuppressed. Once I put the can on, it absolutely will not run. I even bought the weighted backplate and a lighter spring. I've tried high velocity, cci subsonic, cci quiet semi auto and cci quiet. With and without factory recoil spring.

It will fire, extract, eject and load the next round into the chamber but the trigger is dead every time. When I rack the slide a live round comes out. When I take the can off, it runs like a scalded dog.

Because of an accident of birth. It’s the same answer to every question of inequality. It’s not nice and it’s not ideal but it is what it is, and importantly, you can not murder your way to equality. For consolation, It’s very few people who are born into (or marry into) sufficient wealth such that they never have to work. The children of rich families and the top maybe 10-15% of hottest women.

yeah deviant is pro 2a, I used to love the shit that he'd put out at the hacker conferences like DEFCON, i still do
my point in even bringing him up in >>64657445 is that the dude's, what, 40+? and they volunteer the information in the Wired article that they're all sucking and fucking at the matches because they're polyamorous or whatever. At a certain point people need to grow up and be conscious of what they put on the internet and tell to reporters.
Not this particular instance, but shit exactly like that is exactly why sinistral got progressively more and more tired of having to be the normal guy. Watching that Wired article come out and talk about "charlie kirk got assasinated but here's a friendly group of gay jewish people with medical disorders who fuck and suck at the matches because they're all polyamorous" must have felt exactly like when r/antiwork sent that absolute embarrassment of a human to go interview with Jesse Watters and complain that work is inhumane because he had to walk dogs for an hour a day.
Like Wired shows up, and not a single staff member seems to have thought to themselves "hmmm maybe they should interview the match director?" which is at best being surrounted by total idiots totally incompetent at making an organization look even vaguely sane, and at worst a total betrayal by attention whores.

Decided to bust out a new infographic. This covers armor plates from Point Blank / Paraclete. You can't normally buy these first-hand since Paraclete is a "cop shop" brand like Safariland / Protech. IMO, Protech / Hesco / LTC mog nearly every plate on this list. The Blackbeard TSA and 40260SA are the only true standouts. 50260SA is pretty decent. RF2750SA is a PE-backed steel plate that picks up M193 protection at a fairly reasonable weight for an "advanced" steel plate. The lack of M855A1 protection makes it unpersuasive. Their Level IV lineup sucks and Hesco mogs.

It looks stupid till you realize height over bore hardly matters for a fighting rifle. You’re never aiming so small that the bullet will impact too low. That ~4” height over bore might even be beneficial in slightly extending the MPBR on an x sized target.

Jusy wait a year and it'll be half price with a gen 2 then a gen 3 the following year. All correcting purposely added errors. Do you think your thumb can reach that mag release? How long is the trigger pull? Mag disconnect? They always add something fucked up on purpose then remove it in later gens. Never buy a Ruger.

Ruger routinely tapers off the pricing on their guns. I bought an EC9s 7 years ago and it's still the same price, by all means it should cost more today.
>>
>>64661011
Anon, Ruger is the only company with the balls to drop the "Hard R" line. They're all right by my book.

instead of previously planned 64 cells
it will also feature the AEGIS system and SPY-6 radar
they will likely come with Tomahawks for land attack as well
8 units are planned now instead of previously 5
26 bn euros have been designated for the project
these will likely become the most powerful surface combatants in Europe
