Spbp - easily the ugliest SMG of the pre-Cold War Era. Up there with the Chauchat variant in U.S. .30-06 for shitty angles and wonky craftsmanship (except the MAS 38 had a good reputation for reliability)

We already have a modernized famas. I think make it able to use stanag mags is the only upgrade you could do before having to redesign a brand new rifle.

IIRC 50 cent was shot nine times but survived because it was pissant caliber like .25 ACP

Are Zerg weapons realistically comparable to Protoss and Terran weapons? It seems like both should have the weapons to wipe out the Zerg without that much difficulty.

Most authors who get published, want to get published, and aren't busy doing real material work are libtards. Libtards are fundamentally interested in social signaling not only due to their personal inclination but because it is how the survive, they are paid and socially supported by pushing a libtard/jew line. And almost everybody with the interest and ability to understand and write around the narrative limitations imposed by hard scifi are more interested in reading or writing books about military history.

You could and I have written settings which are basically The 30 Years War IN SPACE with zero truly speculative technology. But there are a number of issues about getting this shit published. Spergs who want to write that shit generally don't care about it being published. It often lacks wide appeal and thus is not fiscally viable, and though plenty of libtard propaganda narratives are not fiscally viable on its own merits it can be supported as a political cause by those with money. A sperg interested in writing a diamond hard story or setting for a game is unlikley to give a shit about politics beyond the "in setting" context, so nobody of any political stripe is likely to front cash for it.

And even being 100% hard doesn't mean it will be a good scifi story about war and shit. It could be a political diatribe like 1984, which features no technology which we didn't already have in the 80s and therefore in terms of technology was completely predictive.

Your best bet would be game like Sins of a Solar Empire but based entirely in one solar system featuring weapons extrapolated from known technology. Which would be kind of like a simulation as the war would likely be prosecuted by machines directed by humans(the player).

What tools for self defense would you recommend for someone in Europe to have when shit goes down. There are black powder revolvers shotguns and rifles, but you can't buy them everywhere in Europe. There are crossbows and bows but what is really their capacity to defend, and of course air rifles, in some countries they are unrestricted in some countries they are cucked and they are a hassle to have around in the case of an emergency. Better yet what should everybody own, not just weapons, in case they want to survive more than 72 hours.

If you don't care about the law or expect society to collapse in one way or another, see if you can get a blank gun and these gas blanks used for "animal defense". Pair it with a Gasmask and you can effectively turn a few rooms into lethal gas chambers, though I'd advice you not to do it at home
>that's retarded, there's better options, etc
yes to all but its fairly easy and cheap in my country and its always nice to have more options, you never know when you might need to gas a few people
t. kraut
>Better yet what should everybody own, not just weapons, in case they want to survive more than 72 hours.
Food, some MREs are good for that especially if you plan on running away, Water and purification (2 methods at least, Boiling isn't enough), a map of your local and not so local area incase you need to walk to the nearest city/evac point but aren't too sure on how to get there or don't want to take the roads, a knife (not necessarily for fighting, it can be a good tool for many things), adequate clothing (keep rainclothes and winter clothing IF you need them)
Gas mask if you're worried about that stuff
Keep your ID with you! It's more than likely that you'll meet some government troops and it helps if you can show them that you are you.
Lighter(s) and Cigarettes are useful for bartering
First Aid Kit(s)
Antibiotics too but those are long term

>>
I really don't understand this because that amount of ammunition in OP is never going to be enough.

You'd need so much for it to be a pragmatic amount in an apocalyptic scenario that you should really probably just commit to a single kind of ammunition and tailor your guns around that round instead of trying to just get some ammo for a bunch of different calibers.

what are some memory holed wars?
Did you know the US invaded the Dominican Republic in 1965 with around 22,500 troops, 100 M48 Pattons, over 1000 combat air sorties. There was heavy fighting where around 60 Marines and 82nd Airborne troops died with 400 wounded.

The other two cold-war border wars between Ethiopia and Somalia (besides Ogaden), the 90's US invasion of Haiti (nobody mentions it along with Panama and Grenada when talking about US toppling of Latin America leaders), the Ogacher strip war (the only interstate war in western Africa unless Nigeria pulls some intervention against the coup states), the Chaco war (first use of tanks in a South American conflict), the Ugandan Bush war (one of the few times the north Korean army would see actual combat after their 60's attempt at destabilizing the south), plenty more.
>>
>>64746043
The Uganda war is interesting to me because the Tanzanians won a total victory against Uganda, Libya, and just about every comintern minor power using 60s pot metal chinkshit.
Does that mean that Tanzanians were god-tier strategic geniuses or everyone else was just dogshit?
>>
>>64745696
-Suriname had a civil war in the late 80s.
-China and Vietnam had a border conflict all through the 1980s, with the most intense fighting in 1984.
-Not a war, but Japan sank a North Korean midget submarine in the late 1990s, it might be the only combat the JSDF has ever been in.
-The eastern Congo is actively the location of a low-intensity conflict between the Congolese military, a bunch of disparate rebel groups, other African states like Rwanda, and the UN. The rebel groups are alleged to have to some unspeakably horrific things against civilians.

So many random wars that no one knows or cares about.

I can’t believe it took a 30 minute video to say what we already knew, which is that 10mm Auto is the superior automatic handgun cartridge, and that only after having to water it and then .40 S&W down for the women, manlets, and fags in the FBI did they just settle on 9mm because there was no difference at that point. Amazing.
>But muh fire rate!
Literally doesn’t matter in a combat scenario, doubly so if your shots don’t actually land. Paul Harrell already established this in his 1986 Miami Dade shootout analysis.

Lift weights and carry 10mm, anons.

That carries the risk of failure. These tepid do-nothings just want to talk down to people because so they can feel powerful instead of staying as the nobody they are in real life, but are too scared of looking like they suck (even though they do) to try and improve themselves. Their insecurity drives them to try and tear others down to their own level instead of building themselves up because they're afraid of letting the facade down and letting other people know what a bum they are.

Just look at >>64744480. Claims to have surpassed people, but doesn't actually say in what. He's trying to channel the confidence and superiority from the Glen Gary Glenross opening, but he's never done anything so he can't think of anything to claim. He'll probably try and follow up with "I've done X and Y and Z and I didn't say anything because I'm too cool," but if had something to be proud of, he would have led with it. He also admits that this is just a bid to get people to pay attention to him. Just pathetic, literally begging people to pay attention to him.

Save that enthusiasm for whatever VCE engine is going into the GCAP instead of trying to remake a 90s engine.
>>64746387
Wrong mounting and fuel pump points, plus it's lighter. You're looking a whole redesign for the rear of the aircraft, or the EJ230, both of which will take 5+ years.
>>
>>64746419
>for whatever VCE engine is going into the GCAP
Fantasy, RR themselves confirmed the GCAP engine isn't variable cycle.

> Mark Tivey, business development director for future programs at Rolls, tells Aviation Week; “We understand the adaptive engine, and we have looked at that technology for the mission set this aircraft will face, and we do not believe it earns its way onto the aircraft,” Tivey explains. “You will get benefits from such an engine—an economy mode and a warfighting mode—but the trade-off between the cost and the capability is a pretty fine one, and we do not think it is justified in the mission set for GCAP.”
>>
>>64746443
Oh. Well, that sucks. I always assumed they'd include it because of the program timeline.
>>
>>64746704
The program timeline is exactly why they CAN'T do variable cycle.

It's taken the US the better part of 25 years to do with 10's of billions spent.

It would likely take RR at least another decade, maybe longer, and likely cost $15-20B. They can do the XFP30 for ~$5-10B and actually meet the 2035 deadline (and be installed in a flying prototype by ~2030-32)

If the UK/Italy/Japan could afford to wait another 5-10 years before they wanted it to enter service than adaptive cycle would be a no-brainer, but as it is today, going with a non-variable cycle high-thrust engine is the sane approach to meet their deadlines and provide the performance needed.

There is already industry speculation on a block 2 GCAP fighter in the mid to late 2040s with a variable cycle engine.

Ceeding “low end manufacturing” to focus on the “high end” is dumb because eventually those “low end” competitors level up to start jeopardizing your high end and now you have no fallback point
>>
>>64745250
Exactly, though the reason why western manufacturers are abandoning the low-cost segment also has a lot to do with government policy
Western governments are like
>you can't produce cars that are too unsafe or polluting, you must respect the unions and can't fire unproductive employees unless they murder someone and if you ever break any of the rules we will fine you billions. We'll be nice and give you tax breaks every now and then if you're in trouble though.
Meanwhile in China
>here's 100 trillion yuan, cheap land, rural slaves and subsidized materials. You can pollute as much as you want as long as you're producing anything that has 4 wheels and an engine. We'll make sure you also own at least 51% of any joint venture with foreign manufacturers so make sure to steal whatever tech you can get your hands on. Make sure to make EV's instead of ICE cars though, we basically have a monopoly on batteries and you guys suck at making ICE cars anyway.
>>
>>64745276
this doesn't make any sense.
ev cars are less polluting than ice cars.
ev car makers in china have no history as ice car makers but evolved from battery cell makers.

in reality every chinese industry hub funded its own player: BYD (Shenzhen), NIO (Hefei), GAC Aion (Guangzhou), SAIC (Shanghai), etc.
the west simply doesn't have any such industry hubs anymore.
>>
>>64746264
And yet this modern state of affairs is deliberate on the part of the west
We think its good, desirable to have everyone move to subburbs while foreigners come in

You could never scale a company up, like BYD did in the USA or Europe
>>
>>64746264
>ev cars are less polluting than ice cars.
By pollute I mean that they can dump industrial waste wherever they want because environmental regulations are lax
>ev car makers in china have no history as ice car makers but evolved from battery cell makers.
Only BYD started out as a battery company afaik. SAIC, Geely, GAC, Chery were all regular car manufacturers before they started making EV's.
EV's are also still cars, BYD had to hire automotive engineers and designers to design the frame, body, powertrain, software, etc etc
