Reverse engineered AK-74 by Aum Shinrikyo death cult.
>>
>>61480431
Looks useful. I'll buy one since you just confirmed they seal.
>>
>>61480815
In February 1993 members of Aum Shinrikyo cult traveled to Russia including among them a mechanical engineering graduate of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Through a Russian contact they were able to tour several arms production plants and glean information on handling various weapons and explosives. During these lectures hours of video footage was taken to document the operation and mechanics of each weapon. At some point during these exchanges a single AK74 rifle was illegally procured with orders directly from leader Shoko Asahara to be smuggled back to Japan. This would serve as a template for the group to produce a rifle of their own.

After a small iron works in Kanazawa went bankrupt it was purchased by the group with the aim of producing the rifles. The ultimate goal revealed in later hearings was to be able to arm followers who during the ‘future apocalypse’ would rise up and establish a new government.

On the 20th of March 1995 five members released sarin nerve gas on the Tokyo subway system killing 14 people, seriously injuring 54 and causing effects to as many as 1000 commuters. The obedient followers were told the attack was intended to ‘initiate the apocalypse’ while It was later speculated to have been an effort intended to divert police resources away from the group. Previously Aum had conducted an attack outside an apartment in Matsumoto where three judges overseeing a real-estate lawsuit against the group where staying. A converted refrigeration truck was used to disperse the gas into the surrounding neighborhood killing eight people and injuring up to 500. The later diversion attempt failed resulting in a large scale raid on the Aum headquarters at the foot of Mount Fuji leading to the discovery of explosives, chemical and biological weapons as well as a Russian Mil Mi-17 helicopter. The AK74 copies and components produced by the group were later discovered, only a handful having been produced.

I use them, I heat them up with a heat gun and put all the grease into a bottle and use it for lube, it smells way to damn good to go to waste.

Sometimes some of the bottles still have this thick red oil in them, it smells fucking amazing.

So /AK/ I has questions... What, if anything, would be considered the American version of a Khyber pass rifle? What would it look like(caliber, features, design, etc.)?Where would it come from(regionally speaking)? I'm curious about your input on this.

The M85 has the same 10 inch barrel length as muh Navy SEALS Mk18 and two inches longer than the AKS-74U. I agree that the stinkov is overrated, but the M85 is probably the best version of it if you want a factory small bore AK pistol built for the former commie army instead of the Amerigan consumer market.

They'd just be kinda sloppily put together with US parts. You really wouldn't see a lot of regional difference unless they were built in a state like Cali or NY with stupid restrictions. The US isn't made up of disparate tribal regions up in the mountains like Pakistan of Aghanistan (at least not to the same extent)

Everybody here has access to the internet and we all follow the same only tutorials for building AK's

PSA is hands down the top dog when it comes to AK rifles. Sure, some of you retards might splurge on expensive imports from sketchy 3rd world communist countries, but why bother when you can get top-notch quality from PSA? The QC issues were only. on. the. first. batch. of. rifles. I understand you people want to larp like communists but i dont get it. American products have always and will continue to be better than any slavic shithole can pop out.

What’s the best deal on parts kits at the moment. I’m looking to get into ak building, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money on an expensive kit only to fuck up the build.
>>
>>61488020
You have tools yet?
>>
>>61488047
Just the basics. A 12 ton press and drill press. Planning on getting more specialty tools once I get some kits, and with my state looking at passing an AWB, kits and receivers are my main priority at this time.
>>
Thoughts on the Zastava M77? Have the opportunity to get one as part of a trade but didn't see it in the buyers guide link.
>>
>>61488061
Just making sure because the specialty tools are another $500-$800 depending on what you get and you shouldn't cheap out either.
Get a serialized receiver ASAP, maybe more than one. You hedge your bet that way in case the AWB hits. If it's like WA's then 100% receivers are no longer available and if you decide to have a builder do a kit for you youll be good as well since they won't work on 80%s

Anyway the cheapest kits right now are Romanian pm md 63s for around $400-$500 without a barrel.

There is a norinco unconverted stamped AK with a thumbhole stock for sale near me for like 900, is that. a good deal? it's on the buying list at the middle of value but I don't know what kind they mean.
>>
>>61488298
Does it have a square-back receiver? Most of those had receivers that were cut at an angle that prevents most stocks from fitting flush to the back. A square-back receiver makes the debanning process much easier if you’re looking to do that.
>>
>>61488298
If you actually want something to be your “go-to” rifle, then you’re better off buying something new in the same price range than an unconverted Norinco that’s been rotting away in some boomer’s attic for the past 30 years.

I mean yeah they’re fine, but they are all at least 30 years old at this point. There’s nothing special about their build quality that makes them better than a lot of other new AKs on the market now. In fact, the Chinese AKs have a blued finish, which is one of the weaker firearm finishes in terms of longevity (although it looks good). I wouldn’t buy it unless you just want a Chinese AK for your collection.
>>
>>61488453

>>
>>61488453

Its a behavior that I've only seen American civillians do when posting photos online due to (sometimes unwarranted) privacy concerns. I can't think of a reason a Russian serviceman would do it. Can't recall any other photo of a soldier censoring his weapon like that. What is the worst thing that could happen if someone knew the serial number of an Issued weapon?
>>
>>61491214
>What is the worst thing that could happen if someone knew the serial number of an Issued weapon?
Having been in a yuro military there is always the risk that some zealot in the chain of command will see that picture and think, "hmmm, why is he doing that gesture? is it a dogwhistle to some nazi, commie, separatist, kinky, democratic, undemocratic, satanic, angelic, catholic, atheist group? why is he even posing for a picture? we better discipline his ass right now so my superiors will think we are doing our job!"
>>
>>61491214
Opsec. If the database of the armorer that soldier uses is compromised, that soldier is effectively ID'd. That means they know who he is, where he lives and who his family is.
>>
>>61491363
In that case the picture comes from twitter where it says it's a captured weapon (which makes sense as how in the fuck would a territorial defence fodder have a 6P30M) so it's smart to hide the SN, we have already seen that both sides when they post a picture and they show too much about their location they will get hammered by artillery, so a sn can be traced back to a soldier and therefore you can also assume the general location where the pic could've been taken.
>>
>>61491332
can confirm as I've been disciplined for using an artillery shell as a makeshift cock in a picture.

Tbh, if they pull through with a debt restructure, they need to capatalize on the krink craze after releasing the 101. Maybe also just sell some rifles already equipped with barwarus zenitcope.

Or even attempt an ak-12 clone. I feel like if they dump the current retards at management, they could easily compete with poverty state armory.

Got scammed on AKfiles. I feel like a genuine retard but it’s even worse because it was meant to be a birthday gift to myself.

How'd you get scammed? I once made a post about a super specific part being broken in one of my NVG scopes and the next day I had a brand new account (less than a day old) messaging me saying they had the parts. Kinda wanted to buy them but I figured someone was fucking with me
>>
>>61495280
>>61495265
That's too bad. Never been scammed, but I've definitely been sold stuff on their with crucial details conveniently left out (glass having defects for example). Some checks I do:
>make sure images can't be reverse image searched
>check if seller can send images of specific closeups
>check if seller accepts usps money orders
>>
>>61495241
>ak-12 clone
That would nice to see. Though, from what I’ve read from online, KUSA struggled when they increased production numbers. Hopefully they survive and get it right. They were looking to produce their own 7.62x39 ammo as well.
>>
>>61495019
ARs just don’t have that soul factor.
>>
>>61495280
I got too excited. Newish account but with a decent amount of posts.
>>61495321
I reverse imaged searched the images and they all seemed clear. One was even time stamped with my username and it didn’t seem edited when I zoomed in on it. $1900 gone and a ruined birthday. I feel like I’m to blame for being too comfortable, I’ve always had good luck on the files.
>>
>>61493267
NTA but yes, they changed it afterwards. The Ace was their favorite after trials, but they wanted more "AK-like" controls. The Israelis worked with them, and that image was the result.

I bought a Polish stock set from Apex. Supposedly “very good” quality. But the handguard fit very loose in the receiver. I compared it to another akm handguard and yeah the handguard cutout looks like it was friggin mutilated, super undersized. How do I fix this? I tried using tinfoil but it’s so undersized that it’s still loose.

Will wood glue melt with the heat from firing the weapon? And hold up?
>>
>>61495817
That's a shitload of material missing. I'd glue in some pieces of dowels or something, then file them to fit your retainer. Most woodglues are thermoplastic so yeah it could unset, but everything is under compression when installed anyways so it doesn't really matter. Just don't disassemble it when it's hot.
>>
>>61495821
If you're worried about the glue melting you can use JB weld (or whatever equivalent expoxy made for wood) like a bubba and mix sawdust in.
You could forgo the saw dust if the part isnt visible. The point of adding sawdust is to help hide it when you restain but if you can see it who gives a fuck
>>
>>61495911
I’ll try gluing some popsicle sticks on it first. If that doesn’t work then I’ll try the jb weld.

AKs are easier to learn for beginners and just werk. They’re more idiot-proof than ARs. You also get the fun of comparing and contrasting AKs from old commie factories in different countries vs ARs that are all just made in the USA, and look exactly the same except for every manufacturer’s rollmark and special snowflake mlok rail or whatever. AKs combine the fun of collecting milsurp while letting you have a modern assault rifle that can still do all the tacticool oper8ing an AR can do if you decide to pimp it out.
>>
>>61505951
Chopping a hole into the handguard is surprisingly aesthetic so maybe do that
>>
>>61510599
>They’re more idiot-proof than ARs
How so? I have a lot of experience with ARs, and I always thought that ARs were extremely simple to operate. Not saying it is easier than an AK, as I have to be honest and say I've never had the opportunity to use one.
>>
>>61509977
Because it’s what you want. Don’t buy guns that don’t excite you. If aks do it for you then get that. Anyone telling you to get something other wise is too dumb to listen to.
>>
>>61510884
ARs have more small parts, finickier takedown procedure
Stripping an AK bolt is a terrible operation but you will basically never have to do it on the other hand
>>
Having handed ARs and aks to boomers who only used G3s and total noobs to guns,

The AR is easier to handle in most operations, more intuitive.
Mag in, pull charging handle, safety on, safety off shoot. Gun lock back on empty, Push button, mag falls out.

What gets most people with the aks is the whole thing that you need to flip the safety off before charging, Even experienced shooters on ar/g3 fucks this up on the clock.

However, the ak is stupid easy to pull apart and maintain for Even the most retarded people, not that its hard on an ak
>>
>>61510666
I may just do that satan.
Ive had a thought to get the 6 inch set to rob the short handguard peice off of it too, yeah its more money but its still not that expensive.
>>
>>61511084
Once upon a time there was a Youtube video about this and more people managed to take the AK dust cover off than turn the safety off. That said, you could remedy that with a three-second demonstration so it's not a great flaw
>>

See Rob Ski’s video in >>61510599 post. The AK is more intuitive with simpler controls. The AR has more buttons and knobs that are just added complexity. If you handed an AK and an AR to a total newbie, it would be easier for him to figure out the AK.

Rob explains it, but basically the AK is designed so anyone can pick one up and figure out how it works without any instruction right down to the iron sights. The AR has more superfluous knobs and buttons that aren’t obvious in function just from looking at them. The only people who think the AR is easier than the AK are people who trained on the AR first instead of starting on both with a blank slate. The AK is also easier to disassemble and clean in the field with an easily accessible interior and large internal components.

I was a gun noob once handed an AK as one of the first guns I had ever handled and I had problems with the safety. The safety is the biggest obstacle since it's really counterintuitive in comparison with the AR
>>
I don't currently have an AK but the idea has appealed to me a little. I was at a local gun store and saw they had some Sterling soft point 7.62x39. Have any of you guys had experience with them?

i feel like the difference is unbelievably small. AR safety is clearly marked and right where your thumb can hit it, and as soon as someone at least knows how the charging handle works, they're good.

The logic behind the AK safety is
>see charging handle
>pull on charging handle
>charging handle is blocked by the safety
>move safety out of the way
>pull charging handle again
>weapon is now ready
So it’s obvious what the charging handle and safety do just from how the two components look and interact with each other.

>ammo has gone up in price
>don't want to shoot my emergency 1,000 round stockpile of 762x39
it's over

IMO ammo price spikes aren't "emergencies"

What’s the best way to acquire a decent AK74 kit without paying out the ass on Jewbroker for one? Should I just part it out and buy the core components (trunnion, bolt, carrier) first? Anyone know where I could acquire them? Kinda want to do an East German AK74 clone, but don’t want to pay the exorbitant prices for a complete kit.

Just get an SLR, buy once cry once. By the time you piecemeal quality components and send them off to be built it's not gonna be any cheaper.

yeah

yeah I was thinking the same thing. I think anon is a single male, but I could be mistaken
>>
>>61515340
idk is it so obvious
>see grip thing on AR
>pull it
>it opens the dust cover, chambers a round
>look at lever above thumb
>it says "safe" and "fire"
>>
>>61479940
I was thinking about getting an AK but big don't know anything about them.
From what I can tell, it's not like MilSpec ARs, the manufacturer matters greatly.
I was leaning towards Kalashnikov USA but they closed shop.

What do you nigs recommend?

Did you faggots go shooting this weekend?

I sit this thread out and you guys are inactive as fuck. You all fucking suck and are also boring.
>>
>>61517180
You'd be surprised how fucking stupid people are. Most people can't even figure out how a thumb safety on a 1911 works.
>>
>>61481011
This is mine, I like to keep it simple. Only thing I kinda want to put on it is an AK9 railed lower HG and a RK-6 because I really like handstops.
>>
>>61517463
The same 3 guys repost the same WASR and WBP over and over again.

Figures, I don't blame yall for ignoring this shit.
