Why? It's not even that much lighter than a comparably-proportioned 92, despite having a plastic frame.

The sp101 of the 1900s
>>
>>61951748
Rotating barrel is more robust than the locking block system, it handles hot loads like a champ, the entire trigger group can be popped out in 30 seconds (with practice). Take down and complete disassembly is easier. The compact model is actually compact, subcompact variant available as a back up gun (like the G26 for the G17). Recoil spring is captive. Recoil spring lasts alot longer, trigger return spring lasts longer, hammer spring lasts longer, it needs less servicing than a 92.

Downsides like the lack of threaded barrels without a fancy adapter do not matter as a duty handgun. Really I'm just PX4 obsessed, I don't really see myself buying anymore handguns now and thinking of selling things that aren't PX4s.

>>61951788
The PX4 is fat as fuck, but still not fat enough to take 92 mags. The 92 is a cow.
Mooo
>>
>>61951691
>>61951665
also it's a spare slide right now since the rest of the gun is in gun jail due to state waiting periods

>>
>>61951829
>subcompact variant available as a back up gun
1. Didn't have a rotsting barrel
2. Is as fat as a double stack 45 glock
3. Long grip
4. And is discontinued.
>>
>>61951836
There is a 3D printed PX4 that can take 92 mags, the PX4 mags are slightly larger to accommodate .40 S&W. The PX4 fullsize .40 has a capacity of 14 with a flush fit magazine.
>>
>>61951829
the subcompact might as well not be a PX4 as its missing the literally the only noteworthy feature of the PX4
>>
>>61951829
Neither gun is as durable or easy to do armorer-level maintenance on as a Glock, the current 92 locking block will last multiple officers' worth of rounds, every size of PX4 is about 3/4ers of a step smaller than the equivalent 92 so the real problem is that Beretta hasn't made a 3" barrel two-finger grip 92 since nobody's asked them to.
>>
File: file.jpg (9 KB, 194x259)

9 KB JPG
>>61951888
>armorer-level maintenance on as a Glock
you would not, you'd pop out the trigger group and put a new one in, takes minutes

once the trigger group is out I guess you then do your armorer level maintenance but the problem gun already has been put back into action, if the trigger group failed which doesn't seem to ever happen.

it's hard to beat glock, every manufacturer has tried.
>>
>>61951829
All the Beretta rotating barrel guns are actually mid. The PX4 only has seen its recent resurgence because of hype-beast LTT bullshit. I say this as a big believer in rotating barrel handguns, but the Berettas just aren't anything special. I sold both my PX4s and only kept my Stoeger 8040F due to nostalgia. The Grand Power guns do the system better and are literally hundreds of dollars cheaper.
>>
>>61951842
>you said a negative thing about me?
>hmm u must be flawed in some way
>>
>>61951852
I disagree. It accepts the same magazines, has the same manual of arms, and the trigger is (nearly) the same. Sure it doesn't spin, but it's a perfectly valid member of the same system in all the externally apparent criteria.
>>
>>61951926
As a former Beretta supporter, it's not funny anymore, we cannot let the PX4 get the nuclear codes.
>>
>>61951945

The DA/SA manual of arms is something you actually experience when you carry, load, or shoot the gun, as is magazine compatibility. The rotating barrel and any associated change to the recoil impulse are not nearly as substantive to the shooter.

I bought multiple handguns that weren't glocks, regretted every one, finally bought a glock, shoots like a dream, and I think that functionality snapped me out of caring how guns look, as long as they work.
Could also be an age thing, but as you see in here some people are too autistic to grow out of the form over function stage.

This was the 1908 spam that preceded it. It was shot in a double tap pattern. Idk how to do it better since there isn’t enough time to reacquire sites for the second shot so it becomes point shooting and does worse than the first of a diad

The trigger break is much nicer and shorter though so I can get a faster firing rate

A Taurus or a .22 revolver
>>
>>61954846
It's practice. At some point you barely even have to line it up because it's already lined up when you are ready to fire from sheer muscle memory and then you can focus on the target or the front sight
>>
>>61954811
Glock 23 with the safety flipped off
>>
>>61954846
>Is it just a case of practice?
Yes. Pin a target to the wall (or just use random items in your house) to aim and dry fire at from low ready. Pay attention to how your sights are aligned and make adjustments from there. You'll start "feeling" when you're on target and it will start to feel more natural the more you do it. Dry firing imo is more important than live fire practice for finding subtle issues in your form. It's easier to tell when you're flinching when you don't have to deal with recoil, for example.
>>
>>61954280
Double action is hard

Honestly, given the price, just buy a SCCY. Their 380s, the CPX-3 and CPX-4, are cheap ($175) and infallible. There are multiple anons here who swear by them. The double-action trigger is stiff and long, and the manual encourages lots of dry-fire, it's the perfect dry-fire training tool and you can put real bullets in it and take it to the range if you feel like.

Also, I enjoy shooting a .45 from a 3.5 inch 1911 so my standards may vary from the norm.

Well fuck, I have no 9mm pistols currently. This was inevitable, I buy and sell guns rapidly. So do I scramble and jump on a cheap SD9 2.0, or decide that 9mm was a rifle cartridge all along and just build an AR-9? I have the parts on hand, including a 16" barrel, so it's tempting.

The current budget is only ~$300 and local prices are terrible, I don't expect to see anything like that around here for under <$500, and that's only with lip-whittling. I've a few revolvers for sale so that budget may double before I snap and purchase something.

The difference is much more noticeable in .45s than it is in the 9s, I don't have one in 9mm but I tried it and it shoots well but it doesn't give you the same "this doesn't feel like a .45" feeling. It's probably a little less snappy compared to other 9s but I didn't really test it extensively.

Took this iron out after winning a bid for like 220 bucks. Serial number says it was made in 2018.
Slightly heavy for its size with oversized slide lock and undersized mag release. Trigger is kinda crisp since it's got a fully primed striker. Grip safety is retarded but chances are you'll never have an issue shooting it unless your hand is missing a thumb? Whatever, no one has issues with 1911s.
I expected shit but was pleasantly surprised by it. I like it but I only grabbed it because of RE4 which is a better novelty for me than a GRIP ZONE variant. Good job Croatia.

I just recently sold a Taurus 709 Slim and one of my pot-metal 22 revolvers, so the gun budget is sitting at $300. I actually really like those 709s, if I ever get my hands on one in good condition I'm keeping it.

Paying for $300 with $25 at a time over 12 months is crazy
>>
>>61956145
>use cash back card to buy gun
>that percentage automatically gets deposited into attached brokerage acc
>pay off balance before end of month to avoid interest
>get free money that earns interest
I'm all for keeping cash alive but using it for everything is retarded

my uncle used to drink those and shoot the bottles with an ancient Ruger gp100, I think, might have been an sp101. He had a heart attack brought on by too many trucker pills so he could cheat on his second wife with a woman half his (1/3 his second wife's) age. His bitch wife then sold all his guns, purposely not giving any to the family, because she was mad at us on account of our general support of his philandering and roughshod lifestyle. cowboys gonna cowboy, she knew what she was getting into. She sold his Harleys too, thus solidifying the families distain, and earning the ire of my cousin who has hated her since. Despite their melancholy tone I hope you understand the words don't make a sad story. instead I've learned from it how to appreciate the value of a good woman and the merits of going out balls deep in a woman who's young enough to have gone to school with your kids.
>>
>>61956323
Surely a GP100 couldn't be that ancient when they were released in 1986 right?
An SP101 would be even younger still.
>>
>>61956351
I actually just hit up my family group chat. It was a redhawk he got in 1981.

What exactly is this new Sig FUSE? Did they literally just rename the X-macro and increase the price?
>>
>>61956451
The XMacro is polymer and the Fuse is all metal frame if I'm understanding correctly.
>>
>>61956451

Fuse = Longslide XMacro without comp.

can a gun be brought back for years of abuse? I tried a gun today, the guy cleans it with wd40 and the fire residue became some kind of oily gunk. It's very cheap but I'm limited in the amount of guns I can own and getting rid of a gun can be tricky. It cycled well and had no malfunction during the limited testing
>>
>>61956572
So long as everything is mechanically sound, yes absolutely. They can be cleaned out, oiled back up, and if the finish is worn it can be re-blued or polished. Revolver or semi-auto?
>>

semi auto, walther SP22, I'm not sure which M version as the gun is a real Frankenstein. But 200€ for the gun + suppressor + (very cheap) red dot is a bargain

Certainly just take it down, clean every part by hand with solvent, re-oil engagement surfaces and go. I hope the guy didn't spray that crap down in the plastic frame because it will be annoying to get in there with a toothbrush and clean it out. And if he sprayed it on the plunger under the trigger I do not recommend you take that apart to clean it, but otherwise should be pretty straightforward.
>>
>>61956592
Smaller target
>>
>>61956669
>And if he sprayed it on the plunger under the trigger I do not recommend you take that apart to clean it
do you have experience with removing the plastic housing? I was thinking of doing it and spray armistol if there if gunk inside too, but I won't disassemble further as it's one of my first gun
>>
>>61956728
I changed the outer grip but I have not disassembled the chassis beneath it. If you do I suggest doing everything inside a plastic bag so you don't lose the little springs that will invariably go flying when you pop something loose, I can see springs for the trigger bar and slide stop at least. You'll need a punch to remove the pin holding the grip on, part #36. After you take the plastic grip sleeve off you may be able to brush the internal zinc frame without further disassembly, but I caution you as the brush will dislodge things that were kept in place by the plastic grip, such as the slide stop and trigger bar on the sides. Probably best to do that inside a bag too and try to keep track of how things fall apart.

I guess the WD40 goo is why the pistol was so cheap lol

Yeah. That happens after a century of use. You cannot rely on that thing anymore. Buy a new gun. Get a new Colt revolver if that's where your autism is focused. Those triggers are going to be a lot easier for you.
>>
>>61956572
If its gummed up WD40 you can spray it down with breakcleaner (or nail polish remover if its all metall parts) and brush it with a nylon brush, than blast that sluge off with more cleaner to switch over to a safe to use product like CLP. WD40 is amazing but a crime on guns
>>
>>61956826
Do you think a third gen (1946-1970s) with a good barrel could count as new?
Also maybe I can get this for my 1903 and turn it into a spy gun https://usarmamentmfg.com/1903-32-acp-barrel-no-finish-in-the-white-threaded/
>>
>>61956791
>I have not disassembled the chassis beneath it
I wont disassemble to that point, I'm too afraid I won't be able to put it back together and do the walk of shame to the gunshop with my gun disassembled
>>
>>61956853
if the trigger assembly if full of gunk, can I just spray it to remove the stuff or do I need to oil some of those parts after cleaning?
>>
>>61952720
Every time I see this I feel ok for being a bad shot because at least I'm inconsistent WITHIN the target.
>>
>>61956896
You need to remove the gummed up shit, but first you need to get it liquid to blow it out of the trigger! If the trigger is without plastic or rubber you can use your boyfriends nail polish remover and QTips to soften that shit to blow it out. Take your time and than blow it out with breakcleaner. After its all clean you need to spray some oil on it to keep parts moving and rust protected. You would love my lab, got all possible solvents that makes sense to clean guns LOL

God damn, just buy a modern pistol. Why are you so intent on trying to be special by throwing money away on garbage firearms that you have no way of verifying the history or condition of? If you want to collect them, thats cool, but carrying them is retarded. You'd think at the very least you would have invested in measuring tools to check your pile of antique guns over in order to verify that they're safe and functional before firing them. You could have picked a set of these up for cheap to inspect the bore diameter but instead you posted pictures of it keyholing, which everyone enjoyed thoroughly. Stop doing this to yourself.

A S&W third gen is comparatively a lot more modern than the guns he has and provided he gets one that is 9mm doublestack and not beat to shit, would be a fine capable handgun. But given his track record with checking the condition of old guns maybe he should buy a new gun.

The locking mechanism of the top latch is still the issue. Unfortunately there really is no gain from a top break vs a swing cylinder

Hard sale because it increases the length and the balance is worse than a revolver and in the case of mauser it is because it is too complex for anyone to bother with copying.
>>61957523
Unless it is rim fire which should have more top breaks.
>>
>>61957508
I know you won't like the answer but the NAA ranger is a modern topbreak revolver (released in the last 15 years). Topbreak is suboptimal for handling modern rounds compared to designs used commonly now.
