With the improvement of K size suppressors, the 10.3 barrel is DEAD. Always funny seeing a retard using it with a long suppressor when they could instead use an 11.5 with a short suppressor and achieve much better ballistics.

>>62865820Diving into rail rigidity and more specifically, barrel nut thickness. This came up on a P&S podcast about precision shooting and seems like the hidden variable affecting accuracy after barrel/bullet/optic. Where do various rails (and their respective barrel nuts) fall on this scale? Specifically wondering if something like the BCM KMR/MCMR Alpha rails provide adequate barrel rigidity even if the rails themselves can bend a little. Also what are the best, most robust barrel nuts in use today??

>>62866788You don’t have access to hk rifles? Both are poor, overpriced rifles to be honest
>>62866761It was a red dot course so generally 100-200 yards. For close range stuff we pulled the targets at least 40-50y from the backstop - judging by the picture like halfway between the camera and the crowd (can't tell exactly how close they were).Combine that with us being downrange/on the other side of the long distance range's backstop. Would occasionally hear rounds pass overhead...I thought it was neat. After the first day of class we ate at BWW and saw a chevy impala pull up/park and go from smoking to fully engulfed by flames in about a minute. >>62867089Good talk>>62867110>what's wrong with an RMROpen emitter, I'm guessing less durable than a T2. For me the familiarity is what's most appealing, but that may not be worth the trade off of it being heavier and bulkier. I've only used the RMR on a pistol so having it on a rifle isn't computing for me just yet.
>>62867113I just posted a link 2 days ago to 3 in-stock URX-4’s for msrp. Snooze you lose.
>>62867151>having it on a rifle isn't computing for me just yet.Just stand in front of a wall with a light switch/something to aim at on it and present the dot 100 times from low ready
>>62867058It's only like 0.2" higher than an RMR.>>62867110The appeal is its enclosed, has a much easier control to adjust brightness on the fly, and doesn't have the notch filter that an RMR does which limits light transmission under NV.It is definitely bulky and a little weird looking.
>>62867156what length were they even? Lmk what site and I'll keep my own tabs on it.
>>62867162>>62867167Thanks. It seems the vast majority of people go with the RMR so I'm going to give that a try. The aesthetics alone have won me over.
Ive got a 20" ar that im pretty happy with but ive been looking at shorter rifles. A bullpup seems to check all the boxes and it would be fun getting some variety instead of an AR but shorter. I guess im asking would you say a bullpup is comparable in larp use as a 10.5" AR?
Its over for the nodlets, you better hurry.
>>62866976That would ruin my opsec, sorry. But what I mentioned before is all what I can get with out a huge hastle. ADC and schmeiser for 2k, hk and haenel for 3k-4k and for now thats it. Even neibhoring yuropoor countrs stores are all sold out on ARs. Maybe i should just get an sks for two fiddy or ak for like 500 and call it a day. :/
>>62867151>less durable than a T2the RMR already has legendary durability though. im assuming the RCR is the same.

>>62867248Do you want to spend a bunch of money so you can larp or actually buy the best tool? There's a reason bullpups haven't caught on despite being around for decades. Just buy an 11.5 ar with a K suppressor and call it a day.
>>62867272much appreciated
>>62867254Good to know. Hard to believe with how tiny it is.
>>62867286trijicon patented the housing of the RMR. the curved geometry of it makes it very resilient to impact. id probably do RMR HD or RCR though.
>>62867058Do not do pic related
>>62867275There are shitton of barely used izmash made ones ranging from 500 to 1500 depending on caliber and also if they are labeled as saigas or veprs or other.
>>62867250Kek I wonder what my 2988/2801FOM+41.5/38.9SNR 31a that I just bought are going to be worth on the 'used' market. If I can flip them for a couple grand profit I might just get some 2400FOM DTNVS-MG and pocket the difference.
>>62867267enjoy. I'm gonna be working on muh new trug
>>62867310Yeah you should grab that hands down over a schmeisser for 2k eur
>>62867310While I'm not a big fan of AKs in general, an $800-1000 5.45/5.56 Izhmash AK is a better buy than a $2000 shitrod AR for sure. $2000 should get you an HK, LMT, etc. Not a scheisser.
>>62867278>haven't caught onIt's not that bullpups haven't caught on, they're simply being abandoned by everyone that was ever using them.
>>62867291I happen to have a spare RMR type 2 so that will have to do for now, but sounds like it will do the job
>>62867327>>62867319Thanks for opinions, dudes.556 and 545 AK i see very rarely. Those I would consider. Most of them are either 7.62x39(ammo is hard to come by these days) or 308(ammo is expensive).I guess I will keep looking if anything else comes up or start considering hk(too yuropoor). ;|
>>62867278Larp and have fun. Ive got an AR with an acog and a scar 17 with an aimpoint/peq 2. I feel like as far as "best tools" ive got more boxes checked then not. I could probably do a bit to either of them to modernize but im not sure a new laser or different flashlight would make all that much of a difference in practice. Suppressors would be cool but that would be getting a bit long on my ar and ive read the scar is a bitch to dial in. Really just looking for something different that i can say still checks a box im missing.
>>62867376>the scar is a bitch to dial in.Not really>>62867365Buy a 7.62x39 beater and save for that HK
>>62867365>556 AKWBP Jack. Still going to run you a grand though.
>>62867391I thought i read a bunch of stories on the fn forums and ar15 about people breaking their bolts and causing a ton of excess wear. I havent looked into it in a few years so maybe im mistaken or theres new things to make it easier.
>>62867376It sounds like you have a 20" AR and a scar 17, which is great but definitely doesn't check the CQB box. Idk, if I were you I would buy an 11.5" AR and suppress it with a K can. Any situation inside 100 yards and you'll be very glad you have it. I can't imagine not having a short suppressed AR, it was the first thing I went for when I got into guns.
>>62867424Youve pretty much nailed it. I guess i just dont get that excited about ARs. I know theyre the most popular for a reason but i carried one for 10 years, it was the first "modern" rifle i bought, and ive got one set up for highpower. I know theyre great and its probably a better solution than anything else but i cant see myself getting excited about having a 3rd ar in my safe or at the range.
>>62867412If you put the fattest highest backpressure 308 can on and refuse to change the gas port you will crack your carrier. If you can figure out how to mount your own muzzle device you are probably good enough to swap gas jets and run the thing suppressed forever.

>>62867572This build is really controversial for me. On one hand, it's fairly aesthetic and an entirely viable practical rifle. On the other, it's so compromised and scuffed in so many ways. The carbine gas, delta ring quad, that awful grip angle, the ds tailcapoon the right side with no remote, oof. It's like it was specifically engineered to be as mid as possible. The 2009 version of a newbies BCM build.
>>62867628>Yeah but aren’t the HK barrels good and long lasting despite that anyway? When theyre chrome lined, yeah. You cant beat copper fouling and corrosion with a super special steel mix, you still need chrome lining. HK has some of the best barrels but they cant beat physics.>>62867632Isnt this a reddit cope? I thought it has been shown that the warranty is voided if the issue was caused by the suppressor.

>>62868277>>62868234Call me crazy but I think this isn't true. I understand the logic but the barrel is already in a fixed position so how does it affect bolt bounce? >>62867058>>62867087I run a T2 on top of my elcan. Pros are that a T2 is just so much easier to live with than anything else. Whenever you need to adjust the bightness you just turn a dial. Way easier to do at night and/or with gloves on. It also just works. There's a lot of enclosed emitters on the market and it seems like the T2 is the only one that doesn't have issues. If you are doing this for a LARPer SHTF type gun then T2 is easy to justify and rationalize because it's rugged, reliable, easy to operate, and while it's more expensive that cost will average out over the lifetime of ownership. If you're just fucking around with something for the range and all you want is a dot so you can have a dot then I'm sure there's more economical options out there where the nuances also don't matter as much
