My first AR was milspec, I later added an ambi safety and mag catch. I eventually wanted ambi bolt catch enough to build a new lower. The Griffin one is fairly inexpensive, could slap a Geissele upper on one and save a bit of money.

This is useful for training CQB since you cant really shoot people with live ammo easily and paper targets dont fight back. They fit in standard rifles and handguns with a conversion bolt/slide, simmunition and fx use a longer than standard round so the conversion bolt/slide cant strike a live round since the live round sits deeper in the chamber. So you rack one in, flip safety off and hurt people with them.UTM is a british solution thats similar but uses a vastly more complex catrdige. Their bolt is rimfire so it cant strike live centerfire ammunition. Their rounds are a mutlistage system that basically using a series of ramset blanks to recoil the rifle and kick a round down range.>How much do they hurt?Of course youre wearing PPE because all of these will eat your eyes in a sitting. So gasmask, gloves, bdus, skimask, etcsimmunition/fx feel like an airsoft gun. Like fairly soft as a whole. You will know youre hit but overall you will be fine. UTMs on the other hand, holy fuck bro those are going through BDU tops. Shooting through surefire lights, skipping off the ground and shattering lightbulbs. They hurt enough that you actually are afraid of being shot. Very much by design but holy fuck they are painful.

From my observation the Surefire 640 Turbo provides enough flood that you can still use it reasonably indoors but it also provides enough concentrated throw that you can do other things too. Unless a rifle is for home defense or a specialized use case it's probably a good idea to have equipment that will allow you to train in a wide variety of circumstances.
