I don't see a point in rail covers at all when gloves exist tbqhcamalam. When lwrc refers to their uciw as H2 buffer, but it weighs considerably less than H2 what does that mean? Does that mean that it operates like an H2 buffer in their system with the spring?

The entire system is its own beast. You can walk it up with heavybuffers.com but idk youre config

Oh good I'm not crazy. With code "Compensate" those are $450 btw
>>
>>62886431
No if anything I'm saying buy a T2.
I think there's a place for the elcan and Id rather flex a combat optic into a gamer gun than a gamer optic into a combat gun.
The elcan just doesn't shine on the flat range.
The ACOG doesn't give you the same amount of versatility especially if you're going TA31.
If you're going TA02 the weight difference is only 5oz IIRC so that's a good weight trade for the added 1x and ranging reticle.
The cost is what keeps people away from the elcan more than anything else.
>>
>>62886425
>performance shooting
What does this mean? Sounds like a skill issue.
>>
>>62886458
>what does this mean
Getting as many A zone hits in as short of time as possible
>sounds like a skill issue
Well that's why I was at the range but I can put the same amount of time and effort on a T2 and be way ahead because it's 100x easier to use in those circumstances

Fuck, that leaves meat on the bone for a mount too, which is why picrel was appealing to me in the first place. I just can't justify having 2 non magnified optics on my rifles right now though. Gotta get a cog first
>>
>>62886449
>It just means it is heavier than their standard buffer
this is what I thought. The caveat is that they sell their 'h2' as the standard buffer with no other option aside from heavybuffers like you said. But it's 3.3 vs 5.5, so H1 vs H3 but no perfect H2.

I am the anon that was messing with their buffer weights. I replaced the steel weight with another tungsten one in the uciw buffer so now it's 3.7. I wasn't having issues, this was in anticipation of getting a can but unwilling to get a new upper. I figure if I ever run into issues down the line, I will just get a brt tube. I tested it all full auto yesterday and the ejection pattern was definitely like 2:30 or 3 but the bolt locked back and all I think I need now is a rtv mod for my ch.
>>
>>62886478
You’re just a retard that shoots rocks and tree stumps
>>
>>62886468
If you're shooting at a flat range running from target to target then yeah that'll be the easiest.
ACOG will do well when you're not on a flat range and doing hoodrat shit outdoors.

Thinking about building a SBR and finally getting a cheap 5.56 can (i.e. not a flow-thru). What are the go-to parts (springs, gas block, charging handle, etc.) for mitigating gas to the face and backpressure that most people use?
>>
>>62886497
>the guy from /nvg/
Idk, I don't go there
>>
>>62886519
>springs, gas block, charging handle, etc.
They're gonna recommend a Tubb flat wire buffer spring and an RTV'd charging handle of your choice. Dan recommends the Riflespeed gas blocks and I wouldn't mind trying one myself
>>
>>62886404
Yeah but wtf would he know?
>>
>>62886519
Many options these days. It really depends on your barrel and gas port. You want a smaller gas hole and tight bore combined with gas efficient bcg. I don't recommend adjustable gas blocks now that BRT gas tubes and Bootleg carriers exist. You RTV mod your charging handle and get a low back pressure can.
>>
I also moved my pressure pad back a slot just now since it was aggravating me at the range and I think I will do better now that I can get a more comfortable grip
>>62886478
I've put several thousand through it so far.
I like the elcan overall just not for that but it's my go to rifle so I deal with it and train that way anyway.
>>62886497
>/nvg/ laser speed
Yeah. That's why they "made such big improvements in such a short period of time".
One of the guys in my night shoot group has one. It's better than my FL5 for sure but it could still use some improvements.

Depends. Is it a MG3 with periscope or is it a yugoslavian one with no periscope?
For MG3 thats about going rate bordering on a decent deal if scope and mount and mount are clean.
Also ensure its not just an AA tripod that your friend is retarded about.
>>
>>62886603

>Tripod
On the tripod ensure everything moves and none of the key levers (legs, gun release, traverse lock, etc) are binding. Press firmly into pack padding and ensure that some dust comes out. Inspect shoulder straps and look for fraying. Setup the mount and push against the springs to mimic recoil of gun ensuring the springs move freely and arent cracked. Extend the trigger lever on the gun and flick it, it should rebound.
>Periscope
On the scope there is a small window on the back for checking moisture content. Blue = dry, pink = damp , white = REPLACEME. Use the fact that its probably pink due to seal ages to beat the guy down on the price even more. Also check the small compartment in the periscope box, there is usually all sorts of goodies in there but dont act like you like them.

Overall the scope and tripod are fairly easy to rebuild but spares are very hard to find for them, ive had to make a couple parts and springs for mine.

they are about as low profile as they can get as far as I know, which is what I was after since id prefer to not use covers at all. They keep off enough heat alone for about an additional 2.5 mags before the top pic rail gets to hot for comfort, although things are a little different now that i started cramming a rubber ladder up there I can go longer without the heat being a bother. Those magpul one look really thick and disrupting to the low profile that an mlok rail can provide. Im sure they can eat up alot more heat but still idk, thats a level of comfort I dont want to sacrifice, and thats even speaking to the aesthetic wound you take from using them lol

When I first got my gen5 glock19 a couple years ago I didn’t have any issues with it and now it’s incredibly picky in ammo and I get tons of failure to extracts.
The worst has been new republic and the best performing has been Winchester white box.
I used to shoot a ton of blazer 115g and I just got a couple cases and it’s having tons of issues.
What could the cause(s) be?
I’ve probably put at least 10,000 rounds through it but I don’t keep count.
I’ve also never cleaned it since I heard you didn’t need to.

New extractor + lighter recoil spring. I'd go like 15lbs. Factory is 17lbs. Give it a little oil on the rails and barrel.

>>62889664
To me, the new one feels a bit lighter. Winchester 9mm is a good bit hotter in my experience than most other range ammo which may be helping in your case. Honestly though just give it a good cleaning especially the chamber and try again before buying a new spring.

If that shit is in a duty holster its protected and micrometeorites smoking you a nigh zero chance
If that shit is concealed carry its protected even better from those micrometeorites. So you as anon are compromising every shot for the off chance that you might have the pistol drawn, be struck by a micrometorite and then forced to make long distance pistol shots with no failure standard? Here dont let picrel hit you on the way out the door

The mechanism of failure is irrelevant anon. You're'r handgun is in a protective holster that reduces the likelihood, you have a workable mitigation for damaged optics and most of the time your optic is not broken. Ergo the actual risk of total optic death is lower than my personal threshold requirement for mandatory inclusion of BUIS and the penalties that accompany them.
>one singular accidental drop
Ok lets atleast be honest, nobody here is suggesting the SRO

Yes I could be assaulted by rogue sig employees for speaking the truth tomorrow, but the odds of it are low. Ergo im not using body doubles to avoid sigsassins I am continuing to go about my day as normal.

Same can be applied to this entire conversation.
>>62890141
You might actually be too stupid for this to work anon.
While undoubtedly your house is probably not on fire right now. The likelihood of it occurring based on your own statement is probably
>D. Unlikely to occur but could happen.
Now the risk of it happening could be
>5. Catostrophic Death or Permanent Injury
But you do have smoke detectors and those do greatly reduce the likelihood of that. We can probably place the risk somewhere around a
>3. Moderate significant non permanent injury overnight hospital stay.
So if we take our fingers and trace the point where 3 and D meet on the chart we get
>Medium 11.
Now should you cut holes in each room to add a fire escape based on this medium risk? Probably not. Should you have a regular fire alarm test since that reduces it from a high or worse to that unlikely? Probably.
Should you have an extinguisher on each floor? For sure.
>>62890161
>before it fails!
Whats stopping your frame from cracking?
How do you know your primer in that second round in your mag isnt bunk?
How are you sure that the powder charge is going to match the zero you have?
What if that piece of debris lodges itself in the barrel instead!!!!!

All of these things can happen and some can be catostrophic but the likelihood is probably
>E. May occur but only in rare circumstances.
Its E because you are buying down risk by purchasinggood ammo, good guns and inspecting your shit anon. Just like how a holster greatly reduces the likelihood of your optic getting busted.

Pre Combat Checks
Proper PCCs are literally the easiest way to mitigate all sorts of shit. If you spend 2 minutes rechecking your kit before stepping off you will have a vastly better experience as a whole.
>But im not larping that hard
Errytime you step out the door that concealed carry handgun should have
>Chamber check with a proper smack on the back of the slide
>Mag check that there is sufficient resistance on that top round
>Check light for couple seconds to ensure its not flickering or dimming
>Inspect optic for any sort of lint or bullshit on lens
>Walk optic all the way to max bright and then back down to acceptable level for the conditions at hand
Suddenly your odds of the gun functioning to its fullest ability is elevated greatly. Same should be said about any other equipment you depend on in your life.

Yes and no
Yes: The carrier isnt being filled with gas
No: Most suppressor blowback is coming through the bore anyway and hits you through the CH. Combine that with high backpressure legacy suppressors and an overgassed 416 operating system with extremely short dwell time, recipe for a lot of violence in the action.

>The carcal is a meme
why is it a meme they claim to do a ton of testing on each rifle not just exports but civilian models also
and they claim it is very reliable

do people just assume it is a meme because only the UAE adopted it
has anyone actually tested them out and seen if they are good or not

for like $1200 the Caracal 816 looks crazy nice
also the UAE is very sandy so i would imagine that if it works for the UAE atleast for training and stuff in sand that gets everywhere it will work good in general
israel (who i hate) took the Valmet and they made it better to be reliable in the sand when the Valmet was already a improved AK to be more reliable in the very cold and heavy snow
so it would seem like being able to survive being in the desert sand is the ultimate test for being reliable

ALSO
the Carcal 816 is used by Germany both for there Soldiers which they a few years ago bought 120000 816s to replace the G36
and also they use a semi auto version for German Police Officers

https://world-defense.com/threads/germany-taps-uae-owned-haenel-caracal-816-for-new-assault-rifle-contract.8082/

so Germany even thinks the 816 is better then the 416 and other rifles and again they are very cheap

I'll probably also keep my DDM4V7. Now that I have the LMT all built out I'm tempted to sell the DD as well but I feel like it'd be a net loss. It's a very nicely made AR, DD was really doing shit well in 2012. All I really want anymore though is a 5.56 SBR and a 20" 6.5CM, plus my PCC range toy. Posting LMT on rug. I need to get some more rounds through this to trust it the way I trust my DD. If I can throw an ACOG on this and land hits on steel at 600m with 77gr SMKs the way I can with the 16", then I'm gonna be thrilled.

12.5lb no mag. Could be much lighter if I didnt get the thickest maxxed barrel.
>11.5" URGI
Unless youre selling the shorty LMT its sort of a waste.
>>
>>62892437
are you retarded?

Are 14.5" uppers ever worth it? I bought a KAC carbine mod 2 upper and I'm thinking of selling it to fund something else.
>>
>>62892566
If building a SPR, Yes
If building a clone, Yes
If none of the above, probably not
>>
>>62892566
Sure, they're worth it if you have an optic with a BDC calibrated for a 14.5" barrel and only shoot that specific ammo type.

I’m sort of on a kick of filling out my gap guns, and since I ported my 10.5 to a dedicated lower, I have a stamped lower laying around.

I can get 1" @100 with the DD with 62gr pretty regularly. It's got a great barrel. SPRs feel like a bit of a meme to me but I guess they are fun at the range, and cheaper to feed than an AR10.

Once I get a 6.5 my larp potential is basically maxed out. I sort of regret selling my M&P10 is was 90% of what I wanted out of an AR10 anyway. I know yall hate the suppressor cover but it serves a specific use case and that's not having to wait 20 minutes to throw it in the bag when I leave the range and it's sort of a pain in the ass to install/remove just for photos so deal with it.
>>62892495
I won't lie there's some mildly embarrassing machining marks and tool chatter on this LMT in some places. Everything that matters seems to be good but the machining on the 12 year old DD is better almost everywhere.

Def not the point of SPR but you have a point about barrels.
