Is there any reason to not get one of these for cheap?

>>64347903On the one hand, that looks cool. On the other it looks like it weighs as much as the gun itself.
>>64347973I wanted to get into guntubing a few years ago to build up enough of a following to hopefully go to Italy and make a documentary on Beretta. But alas I am retarded and lazy, so I never did as such.
Is True Precision a good pistol barrel manufacturer?Faxxon doesnt have the barrel I want in stock.
>>64348087why do you want an aftermarket barrel?
>>64348087Aftermarket barrels are the biggest mistake. What gun is this for?
Is the Ruger LCR the best J frame alternative? Not touching new S&W revolvers with a million foot pole after reading all the shit going on there.
>>64348129You can hear bad shit about Ruger QC too if you go looking. I wouldn't disqualify Smith off the bat.
A threaded barrel for my Shield so I can put muzzle devices on at the range.S&W makes a threaded barrel themselves but it doesnt have the fancy colors or fluting. Also what's the opinion on the clear plastic Red dot SIG came out with.Probably bullshit I heard the deck was really high and I want a closed optic for my carry but I thought it could be something neat to try
>>64348006because they just arent all that great? i dont know why these are shilled on here, they go bang and are ok. nothing remarkable in a long line of 9mms. hell, im way more impressed with a bersa tpr9 than with this thing

>>64348129stay the fuck away from nu-smith; especially their revolvers. somehow the bodyguard 2.0 is ok (except performance center, lol somehow shoots way left according to everyone) and the shield series is pretty solid.>>64348148i have yet to RMA a ruger thru my gunstore. some of their stuff is meh or overpriced for what you get but they got a few solid lines. eve the max-9 which can be had for like $250 or less is a decent burner 9mm
>>64348153The clear housing is just for looks. It's not like you can see through the clear bezel because it's filled with steel, it's also quite thick and as you said the deck is very high for a Shield footprint. Shield has a new optic with a clear top half that might be more what you're looking for, their intention was to make the window a more "open space," anon has oneAnyway the Romeo RS Clear is unremarkable (or actually kind of remarkably regressive for 2025) except for the low price which makes it hard to believe it's made in the US

was gonna ask about the new production S&W 36 for an easily concealable option in the summer, suppose I'll die in a hole now
Do you still own your first handgun? If yes, what parts on it would you not replace in order to not make it feel like a Ship of Theseus?
>>64348836Dried jellyfish
>>64348797>S&W 36 for an easily concealable option in the summerIt's a great gun. No doubt about that and it has a wicked detective nior vibe. Perfect for the Philip Marlow LARP, just add fedora and raincoat. It's been protecting people for decades and it's also made in the USA, so buying a new one supports American jobs, which is very cool. Plus the new ones at rated for +P if you are sadistic. Honestly, I'm questioning why I don't have one. >suppose I'll die in a hole nowKek, why? Also, what's up with the file name? I love me some Hi-Power. At least the FEG clone I had was pretty good.
>>64347998The writing is odd, and it took me a while, but it's readable. It's funny to see how close it is to modern Italian. It's also interesting how the date is in Arab numbers, while the numbers are in roman numerals.

>>64348797Better than a j frame.
>>64349000No. Magwell is not long enough or in the magazines. The frames already have trouble with .40, going hotter is retarded.
>>64349025I don't understand how something like a 96 struggles with .40 but an HK45C can handle .45 ACP just fine
>>64349042Because the 96 uses a tilting locking block action, they work completely differently.
>>64349000Glock 20 is the proper gun to shoot 10mm from. Not the only one, there are some 1911 pattern guns in 10mm that are good (not colt delta elite lmao) but the absolute disparity between Glock 20 and its imitations is stark.

You could have bought a P320 and tricked it out like I did before all the holster discharges.
Small question ameribros. Do you need paperwork to purchase a barrel or a slide or it's free access ? We have a notion of "essential parts" here that needs to be paperworked before purchase, want to know if it's the same in the US.
>>64349163>>64349166
>>64349163The only thing that is legally regulated is the frame/receiver. Everything else is fair game.
>>64349170>>64349175Good. Which means i can purchase some slide or barrel, get an exporter on the job, and export that shit here with my paperwork. Noice.
In /hg/ newsDon't think we have any Hawaii bros here though
>>64349163>>64349170>>64349175This is the whole reason you can "3D print" a gun in America, only one part is serialized and restricted. Typically it's a receiver, either "upper" receiver that contains bolt and accepts barrel and trigger housing with firing control mechanism (common on bolt action rifles), or lower, that contains the firing control group (like ar-15), sometimes it's the grip (like glock), or an fcg insert itself (sig guns, kel-tec). There is no rhyme or reason to it, this rule is the main source of hilarious legal issues surrounding firearms legislation in USA, and I prefer it that way.
>>64349190Oh. Some pieces of "defense technology" are regulated by ITAR so there may be some things that American vendors would not be "allowed" to sell or ship to you. I suppose an exporter would know.Sorry you have to deal with gay laws anon. I tried to get a nonserialized gun part sent from Germany once and they couldn't get the paperwork done, it was too much of a hassle for one part so they just wouldn't.
What is good .357 Magnum carry ammo? I'm looking for recommendations on grain and brand. >>64349207I used to live in Oahu. Shit sucks.
>>64349190Yeah, as I understand it, most EU countries regulate the pressure bearing components bolts/slides and barrels. I know shipping much less critical parts to the EU is very difficult or at least expensive.
>>64349220>>64349220Federal HST
>>64349220Lucky Gunner has a good comparison between brands, it’s all in clear gel so it’s not real data versus real calibrated ballistics gel but it’s good enough. We’d need barrel length and purpose to give a good recommendation but literally anything JHP will work
>>64349220>>64349207I had to go to my brother's "destination wedding" in Oahu a while back. I read that if you were to fly a handgun to Hawaii you have 72 hours to report to a police station to get your exception or pass or license or whatever, which would obviously be denied and my gun destroyed or something.I figure i wouldn't even be in hawaii for 72 hours and I would be doing the world a favor by "losing" my gun on the sand at the local elementary school or something, but it was too much planning.
>>64349256>>64349256I'm trying to decide between an SP101 Match Champion or a GP141 for my first revolver. Both would have a 4.2" barrel.

Are there any downsides to mounting an rmsc optic to a holosun k footprint besides lack of support from the recoil lugs? Don't really wanna spend 200+ on a holosun optic...
>>64349322They say because it didn't sell well enough. . .
>>64349308Conceal carry. I'm leaning toward the SP101 because it's a bit more concealable due to being thinner but having extra capacity is appealing
>>64348129>>64348797There's not really a single revolver manufacturer that has a perfect track record in current year. If you want a specific nu-smith model, just get it and inspect it, send it back to get fixed if it has problems. (Watch basedwood guns video on how to inspect it).
What is the biggest controversy each handgun manufacturer has had to deal with?
>>64349397Beretta was accused of cheating in the XM9 trials, after the M9 was adopted they had a second trial which the M9 also won.
>>64348618charter arms is hit or miss with their QC i have found. they can make an excellent product, and the design is solid. but maybe there is one or two guys on their assembly team who start drinking after work. ive had out of box new charters that were smooth and nice and those that were gritty (especially the cylinder release). easy fix and a bit of time, but im of opinion you shouldnt need to do that with an out of the box firearm.old charter arms are some of the better revolvers; new charter arms are not the same thing so dont get that confused. like the old interarms rossi 5 shot 3inch barrel .38spc. fucking classic and solid shooters

>>64349000Technically yes, but its best if you leave it as a 40 or get 357 barrel if you want a blaster. The ways to get there will either produce lackluster results or entail so much bubba it isn't worth it.>>64349042There's a lot of variance in materials and manufacturing processes, treatments used, etc along with shape and how it holds up to forces. That's why you have zamak slides that can hold up to 10mm (hi point) and steel slides and frames that are soft enough to shear in half in 100 rounds.

Help a brother out, how do you manage to keep a stockpile of ammo if you want to shoot frequently?Do you just shoot 100 rounds per gun or something?
If you're going to get a beretta, specifically the M9 or the 92FS, is there any way to get one of the Italian made ones specific or is it just down to who you order from? Also is there any way to get at 92 with a straight dust cover that isn't used?

>>64350219>While I'm at it, if someone were to trespass and threaten me from the backyard, do you need a carry permit to bring it on the outside property?Look up your individual states laws but im pretty sure in 50/50 states the answer is do not engage until theyre INSIDE the home unless you want to risk a charge. Also get a stevens 320 shotgun and a box of buckshot for like $130. Any gun with a stock is better for home defense than a pistol. Unless they are total faggots, I'm sure they can guide you in the right direction.
>>64350046 No, the difference between a 3 and 4 inch gun chambered in 357 mag is effectively nothing. You aren't giving up anything by using a 3 inch revolver and you gain a more comfortable to carry gun. Don't get fixated on velocity or energy numbers as they really don't matter. No matter what you use, handguns are jokes and there is no magic bullet. What matters is how quickly you put your shots on target, where on the target they go, and how many times you can hit them. Practice your draw, trigger control, and accuracy and you will be fine, regardless of if you carry a 357 mag or a 22lr.
>>64350238Get a taurus g3c or gx4 carry if youre broke, glocks are not in your price point yet and you still need a holster and some boxes of ammo. Dry fire at home is free to practice, as are draws though.

Get something with a threaded barrel or compensator already on it and an optics cut.I like S&W tbqh their parts are cheap I can get a threaded barrel for my 9 right off their site.Beretta sells a .22 conversion I want but the extra threaded barrel is like $250.
>>64350188Get a Taurus TX22 compact or a Keltec P17 and as much Federal Punch 22lr as you can afford. If you are that poor, get a 22lr. It'll work so long as you keep it clean and rotate your carry ammo a bit more frequently than with centerfire. If you think you can swing a 9mm, get a Ruger Max 9, but you will not be able to afford to practice as much, which is why I recommend the 22lr.

>>64351500I agree. Something about the larger handguns satisfy an itch that the small guns just don’t. It’s just the feeling of the larger gun in the hand and it being much more conducive to landing easier hits that I think is a big factor.

To all you folks telling the new guy to get a shot gun, please pick one up and move around the house with it, trying to keep it pointed where you want. You can't because the thing is a mile long. A braced pcc style weapon is probably the best for a noob or for an experienced shooter, for that matter. I'm not saying you need to sweep the entire house or anything, but you might want to get to your kids' room or whatever. Also, shotguns hold a very limited amount of ammo and take tremendous practice to reload anywhere near efficiently. In fact, everything about a shotgun takes a lot of practice to be good at and you might know that if you took a shotgun course, which is hard because no one offers them because they are not very fun and you spend more time shuffling shells around than just about anything else.
>>64350833Man, how are these people even still alive? How could you resist running over an anti-fa cyclists? It's literally impossible.

Guys I’m sad. I went to my LGS after work to check out (and buy) a Beretta M9A1 and I was planning on making it my everything. My CCW, my USPSA/IDPA, home defense, larp etc. I was supposed to be in love with it. I’m not one to blindly buy something, I have to go and see how it feels in my hand, how the trigger and ergonomics are. Try to seek out any nuances you might notice in person only. Then I’ll go and try it on the range. If I don’t love it in hand, I’m not going to buy it no matter how it good it shoots.Well. I liked everything until I got to the double action. I’m no stranger to DA/SA and currently own a CZ75 PCR and 2 Sig P229s. The trigger on the Beretta was actually kind of terrible and I was almost in disbelief. I kept dry firing it in double action in futility, waiting for it to get better. Eventually I kind of just stood there in front of the employee, at a loss for words like the moron I am. I was supposed to be in love with the trigger. But it was so heavy in the worst way and the trigger broke so close to the end of the trigger pull, it felt like I had to pull the trigger thru the frame to make it break. I hated that. The single action was pretty good and the reset was decent, but the terrible double action just kind of ruins everything.I honestly don’t care how good you can make a trigger with aftermarket parts, if the stock configuration sucks, it’s kind of like polishing a turd. I prioritize reliability and stock is always going to be the most reliable and how I carry any CCW.Stock for stock, the P229 has absolutely the best double action, smooth with no stacking and breaks at the perfect spot. SA between the 229, CZ75, and M9 are all so close that it’s negligible which is best. The DA on the CZ is kind of gritty but breaks at a good spot, so it’s 2nd best to me. M9 worst. So anyways I guess I’ll just put the fries in the bag and get on with my shitty life
