My next will probably be a Charter Arms. I was really impressed by the two I played with at two different stores. I will probably wait for their DOA 22lr version to come out. The Double Dog looks really nice too. I am also a fan of the ridiculous gaudy colorful snubbies that they make, pic related.

So now that we have a fresh thread.
Colored guns.
Here's the concept, I don't remember where I heard it. You have a weird color gun and if someone lies and claims you were brandishing you can say "well what color did he say my gun was?" I know this is incredibly unlikely.
The second thing is, does having a carry gun of certain colors create problems? They've made pink guns to sell to women for carry for ages. Brown and tan has become normalized through the GWOT. I feel like there were the odd OD green 1911s.
What about this totally not real meme image of a sig with a white slide? Would people think it's fake?

I'm probably not buying this gun, but the idea of cerakoting a gun in blue is appealing, in theory. I don't think I'll ever have to pull the color switch-a-roo on a bad faith compliant, but I don't think I'll have to shoot anyone either, yet here we are.

I don't have a good 22. I don't have any 22. Why do I need one? I don't have property I can shoot on. Range time is too valuable to waste on a platform I'm not carrying. If I had land that'd be different.

Trying to imagine scenarios where an adversary thinking your gun is fake gives one an advantage. Does some baddie with a gun hesitate to shoot first before you do? Does someone without a firearm choose to rush you because they don't think yours is real?

Maybe if you have zero interest warning them off or deescalating and just want to mag dump them first it's all upsides.

I love the VP9SK too. It's a very quick shooter. I carried one for years and shoot quite well with it. However, as a carry gun the CC9 is just hard to beat, since it holds more ammo in a smaller, lighter package, plus has a red dot (my SK wasn't OR).

I hold an incredible disdain for people who choose quirky old guns for carry and NOT do their own research or whatever about it. They spin the “twink retard wheel” and it narrowly misses some fag shit like a ppk or tokerov and lands on the makarov. They see the grips are kind of shaped like a penis and then they love it and must carry it but they don’t know anything about the pistol, availability of 9x18mm, etc. they come here to ask that shit

The PM (Penis Makarova) or PMM (Penis Makarova Modernized) are inferior guns lower than ring of fire sns stuff. They barely work, they are way too heavy for what they are, which is glorified 380 ACP, they come from the days magazine springs used to weaken (just replace them if you seriously carry it), and critical parts would wear with very low round count duty use, suffering from stupid things inconceivable by modern hobby shooter, like non or badly hardened firing pins that you would need to replace. If you own a PM (Penis Makarova) you should oil it and put in a display case.

I'm heavily considering the buying of the last TX-22 generation. I currently own a MkIV 22/45, it's my single .22 pistol. I kinda feel a second top quality .22 would be pretty nice. I say top quality because, not being a US person, I just learned Taurus earned some yearly award in 2022 or 2023 for the TX-22. Sounds rather serious, US shooters shoot a lot of .22 I believe. It's the only Taurus I'd buy tho.

It has a free floating firing pin, so there's a one in a million chance debris could cause slam firing
I dont think the pin is heavy enough to go off from inertia if you dropped it.
Thw gun was carried by Soviets for a long time and AD reports are really rare. I wouldnt really worry about it myself
>>
>>64524102
Burt do you have any experience with the Beretta 22lr conversion kit? I know a TX22 is probably superior for a similar price point but I really like my Beretta and would like to shoot it even more, I just want to know if the kit is reliable and not super picky
>>
>>64524207
It's probably way-way less likely than any modern striker fired plastic pistol.
>>
>>64524218
Most modern striker fired pistols have firing pin blocks, so its basically impossible for them to fire if dropped.
Scouring the internet, I was only able to find one instance of a guy having his slam fire, and I dont think I could find a single instance of a drop-fire

I've had two. The first was atrociously unreliable, every type of malfunction you can imagine and some you can't (pic rel), plus constant light strikes. I'm talking like 5-10 malfs per mag with some kinds of ammo, never less than 1 per mag with other ammo. I got rid of it and years later got a second one. It's a lot better but by no means reliable, it has the exact same crazy malfunctions just about 1/20th as often. It doesn't like some kinds of ammo, this kit is picky, but it works okay with others. It's tolerable to clear jams or FTFs every few mags
>>
>>64524211
>>64524242
Crap I forgot to add, other anons in here have them and theirs work fine so take my examples with a grain of salt

I also also forgot to add I had to fit both kits as neither would lock onto my guns in factory condition. The circular cutout on the bottom of the barrel had to be relieved in order to close the takedown lever

Waiting for BF sales for an opportunity to upgrade some triggers before CA's latest act of bullshit makes it harder in January. Opinions on carry trigger/spring jobs for 19.3 and single stack shield? Eyeballing overwatch and apex, but not sure I want to do $160 for a $350 shield, might get the mcarbo kit instead. Also glockstore is selling a modded Glock enhancement set for gen 3 for the same price as OP DAT/polyDAT kit. Unsure which would be better. Try the Glock performance trigger. Normally, any time you make Glock trigger lighter, it loses out some reliability. However, with GPT, they also make the trigger shoe uglier, which compensates for that loss and brings reliable operation back. Make sure you do NOT substitute a riced up shoe.

>"goodness" of a gun depends on political climate with these retards
Indirectly it was affected exactly by political climate, because when izhmash imports were going for 150-250, and steel ammo for it was cheap and plentiful, and alternatives were shit, makarov made sense.
Now that a mak costs more than a trade-in G23 or M&P, steel case ammo is gone, and brass stuff costs as much as 10mm, things like post-war soviet manufacturing tolerances, fit and finish, are much harder to forgive.

It's gear made for carrying specifically without a belt, or rather, it's still a belt, just assumes your clothing doesn't have one, or for some reason you need to use a redundant one. While heavily trannycoded, regular men do still sometimes wear clothing that requires this, or can get into situations that call for a belt like that. It's not inherently feminine in any way.

I've looked into it for my wife. I rejected even suggesting it. I haven't had the apparatus to test personally, but I suspect it's like the p365 of holsters. It takes a desired attribute to such an extreme that many will but it then soon stop using it in favor of more traditional methods.

For carry? I use my 38 special handloads. They're usually a Speer 158 grain LSWCHP bullet (Speer LSWCHPs are nice and soft so they expand well) at a stiff, but not maxed out +P pressure. It works great even out of snubbies. I also sometimes load and carry +P hardcast 158 grain SWCs for innawoods. I will occasionally carry 380 and use either 90 grain XTP handloads or flat nose Winchester FMJ. I have several other handguns that I could carry, but I just don't feel the need to bother loading any defensive loads for them.

I keep flip flopping on the idea. Most of my pistols are in 9mm and I’d rather just practice on those. Basically why hoard bricks of .22lr when you could just simplify ammo inventory? I haven’t found a .22lr pistol I like (including the mkiv) too. Plus it leaves a godawful mess at the range. I’m not dispatching small game at this time either. I’ve had to resort to creative methods to dispatch pests getting into my garden due to overpen concerns. Long term, when I have a larger garden, I may consider a bolty but at that point why not just blast them with something else? I’ve also considered a revolver or 10-22 but neither of those are really exciting to me. Given the choice, I’d rather keep my blackpowder and ditch the .22lr.

Yeah I do. My shit is much more consistent and higher quality than any factory load. I even seal it to keep moisture from leaking in and making it less reliable after it has been carried for a while. They're legitimately waterproof. I even tested them to make sure. Had the thing sit in a quart zip lock full of water for a week then shot them and all 20 that I threw in there fired. I weigh every single powder charge my loads have higher velocity than practically every factory 38 special load other than Buffalo Bore and similar boutique companies. I have even replicated that old double round ball load that remington used to make. If you get really into reloading you can do all sorts of cool stuff like that.

There are multiple HKtards here, not just Burt. There's even some dumbass that carries a Mk 23 with an optic on it. In any case a $2500 1911 is a better range toy than a $2500 Mk 23, my point is there's no reason to buy a Mk 23 unless you want a Mk 23, and if you want a Mk 23 nothing else will take its place since it's fairly unique.

And yes I've handled both, that's why I have been stalking gun.deals for a Mk 23 on sale. USP Elites are cheaper and probably a better range toy, but I want a Mk 23.

I shot a coyote with it once out of my snub and I pulled an expanded bullet out. Soft Lead hollow points do expand even out of snubbies. Most factory loaded lead hollow point bullets are too hard, but I specifically use the speer version because they are soft enough to expand out of short barrels. The downside is that they will break apart and lead the fuck out of your barrel of you make 357 magnum loads with them.

I've shot water jugs, a coyote, and used a chronograph. I don't really consider water jugs to be a very good testing medium, but it's something. I don't really have anything to mold a proper gel block so I haven't bothered with that. Maybe I will eventually get around to buying a mold and finally do a proper gel test, but gel is a pain in the ass to deal with so I probably won't bother unless I want to try to start a YouTube channel or something.

Bro first you gotta get rid of those rust seeds, or seal them. Like some bakemono or something. If you opt to seal them you'll need to keep them demon seeds from contact with that which may oxidize them(pro tip OXIgen[aka air] OXYDIZES). If you opt to get rid of them there demon seeds then you're gonna want a light abrasive(NOT STEEL WOOL). You can use a toothbrush if they're really light but will likely need to use the METHMANS favorite brillo pads or worse yet the BRASS BULL(wool). Just keep it light OR keep it focused on the DEMON SEEDS and not the surrounding area. One they're removed you may need to COLD BLUE the areas where finish was removed. Or NOT if youre a bad enough ahmbre. Stuff like EEZ-OX is a really great rust PREVENTER but is also highly CARCINOGENIC(aka good at doing its job) so that's a good option too. alternatively you can just keep it SLOPPY DRIPPIN WET with oil while buffing off any areas of extra corrosion but that's a bit of an annoyance if you actually want to use the thing or just ignore it for a while instead of watching it like a HAWK. the trv FINAL SOLUTION would be to aggressively buff off all corrosion without removing metal and REFINISH the gun, even some COLD blue would work for that and provide LONG TERM protection without looking as FCUKSTUPD as duracoat or cerakot.

Whatever process you use, physically remove rust particles, do not buff and leave it without wiping it off and reapplying lube, do not use steel wool as those are going to leave your gun IMPREGNATED with more DEMN SEEDs of corrosion either while doing UNSPEAKABLE things to your gun

WTF is up with these comped cc guns? Is it so people have an excuse to buy them when they realize micro 9s suck so they don't have to just go back to their old subcompact?
Putting a hole in a relatively small barrel, directing flash into the sight picture and making the thing even fucking louder in a confined space to offset a tiny amount of muzzle flip sounds to me like a terrible idea. I have a good holster, with metal band mouth, and sharkskin reinforcement/trim. The retention is on the weaker side. I do notice the difference between having front serrations and not having it when drawing from the holster compared to kydex but honestly I do not see the difference but this is a custom holster.

The open mouth does make the retention loose. If I had tight retention I might agree

I like a 1911 to be quite honest with u

But between the two, Mark 23 is "cooler" and slightly lower recoil. It's also unjustifiably expensive, by an obscene amount, unless you get a sweet deal for about $1,600 or so. $1,600 buys you a pretty nice 1911 maybe from Dan Wesson, current new prices for a Mark 23 buys you a quite nice 1911. A special version USP is definitely a better buy than a Mark 23

My two cents

Is .45 obsolete? My only full size handgun is a Glock 21 Gen 3 that I inherited and my only other handgun is a Ruger LCR that I carry. Am I “missing out” not having a 9mm (other than missing out on cheaper ammo)? Is 13+1 of .45 really that much worse than 17+1 of 9mm in a similarly sized handgun? I am putting myself through school and for the foreseeable future I cannot be spending money on things like another handgun, but I can’t help but feel like I’m missing out with my only handguns being a 5 shot .38 and brick of a .45.
>>
>>64526368
>45 obsolete
No. The reasons to not use 45 don't necessarily apply to you.
The army just wanted to go with 9 bc NATO.
The only other reason is double stack 45 tends to be huge. If you can hold your 21 without difficult, don't worry about it. It's a problem for women and manlets that you can't solve with interchangeable backstraps.
You can make a capacity argument, but if 14 isn't enough 18 isn't a solution.
Also recoil, but if you're already okay with it, don't fix what isn't broken.
My bigger concern would be putting myself in financial distress for school, but this depends on your degree and plan. If you don't anticipate earning enough to buy a $4k gun in an exotic caliber just because you feel like it in 4 years, then that's a bigger problem.

.45 is what 7.62 is to 5.56 (9mm), powerful? sure, but you can carry less and is heavier

Thing is that 9mm has been improved and continues to be improve on, 20 years ago .40s&w is highly superior to 9mm in ballistic terms, now 9mm is far superior.
