>>65492027>Just open carry an AR-15 at low ready. This gets the police called on you for brandishing a firearm or worse: lit up like Garrett Foster.>>65492116>putting your parking brake on when on flat ground. This gives you more time to react to a B&E since the perpetrator might not realise the parking brake is on and you have every right to get back inside your own vehicle. If you demand him to exit and he refuses then striking him in the cranial nerve centre with your pistol would be self defense because the assailant is attempting to abduct you at that point.
>>65492201Don't know about you, but castle doctrine and no duty to retreat extends to the vehicleI can just start blasting as soon as I'm in life threatening danger which does include attempted B&E to the vehicle while I'm actively in it
>>65492201Most cars’ parking brake won’t keep you from driving away. Be like the pickup driver during the Hollywood bank robbery that hit a kill switch when he got carjacked. >>65492210In my state castle doctrine applies to vehicle and work and covers a reasonable believe someone is attempting to gain entry so you don’t have to wait until they are ripping you out by the throat. Old cop trick is keep your windows cracked 1/4 inch and your greatly improve your situational awareness when stopped.
My dad and I brought my uncle to the range. He has some .357s and a .22 but never shot a 9mm before. He loved picrel, fit his hands perfectly.
>>65492222Don't most modern cars come with an in built-in kill switch if the key fob is beyond a certain distance? Also CHECKED
Not loving the carry desu senpai. Same trigger as the PCR, and the PCR just fits my hand better. Probably going to trade it towards a pre B 75, a set of .45 carbide dies, and some other odds and ends.
>>65492234I just got a modern car and if I leave it running and have the fob when I get the mail it makes some honk alarm and flashes the lights so I assume that’s what it’s doing. >>65492223I want that TALO M11 that had the anodized green frame. P228/9’s are the best. My 1989 PD issue P228, agency sold back to us for $130.
>>65492263>$130Hell of a price
>>65492246Is it something about the grip panel width and material compared to the PCR? I found the Carry more comfortable in hand compared to the CZ 75D Compact at my LGS. Granted that one had Hogue grips the prior owner installed
>>65492263>Herndon, VAI want this
>>65492272I think it has more to do with the shallow cut of the grip frame below the beaver tail, it just fits me like a glove. Also I’m not a fan of how the red dot feels when carrying appendix. I trust myself enough with irons inside of 20 yards.
>>65492271Included the maroon box and 3 zipper back mags. My former PD was one of the first to adopt the P228 so my S/N is with in the first 700 imported. >>65492285I used to live right next door to Herndon. Drove past H&K plenty of times in Sterling.
Would getting a compensator and ported barrel at the same time be overkill?
>>65492294>I used to live right next door to Herndon. Drove past H&K plenty of times in Sterling.I lived in nova, right there actually, for almost all my life. That Alan Colie guy shot that dude not far from where I lived. I used to shop at that walmart for my groceries.
>>65492303I lived in Leesburg, I had to google that Comie guy, I recall the incident but didn’t know it was in Dulles.
>>65492295It'd be dumb because comps and ports work off of gas pressure. So doing ports before the comp would reduce the effectiveness of the comp. It'd make more sense just to do a longer comp instead of double dipping
>>65492192Ah the autistic troll thread, made before other thread was even at 250 replies
>>65492317It's not as dumb as you think because most comps don't work off gas pressure anyways, they are too far forward and the bore and ports are too large to use what pressure is left to any use, ports work if done right, but most comps are trash and just reduce perceived recoil by adding mass and lengthening the lever. So adding a comp onto ports would probably see a reduction in muzzle rise compared to just ports.
>>65492210>duty to retreatI had researched statutes, rulings and self defense cases for a better understanding of that legal constraint and what I learned is it means a jury is allowed to take into consideration that you had an opportunity to retreat (safely) before using force. The onus is on the prosecution to demonstrate this of course and the defense would be able to argue how exposing your back to the perpetrator and wagering your life on outrunning him is anything but safe. If you're stalled at an intersection when a deranged driver or pedestrian advances on your position then it would be safer to open fire on him rather than accelerate with oncoming traffic. It's probably for this reason that no one has ever been convicted on the grounds of a "duty to retreat".>>65492222Checked.
>>65492295go to the gym.If this is a 9mm carry gun, put a light on it, get some 147gr ammo and see how much that impacts the muzzle flip.I think well done ports plus a heavy flashlight on a duty sized metal frame pistol would be the best combo for minimizing muzzle flip.

Indoor vs outdoor matches, what does /hg/ think? I've only done outdoor and it seems like indoor would be way less fun, what with all the targets being ahead of you. >>65493038Thanks man, I've been working 20-30 hours of overtime a week so haven't been posting much. Cerakote pricing can be very variable, some places charge per colour, some by the job. Most have an instagram where you can see their work, check out how the lines and colour saturation is more than the actual design itself. The cerakoter doesn't pick the pattern they apply it, so you probably don't want pink leopard print but if the pattern is applied super crisply with no lines or colours blurring into each other that's what you're looking for.A couple years ago when I got my last job done $200-$250 was a good price in my area for a gun plus 2 mags. Your milage on price and lead times may very.
>>65493038>>65493214to add to this, certain shops are approved and certified applicators of cerakote, which is something to consideralthoug I am a big fan of a good rattlecan myself

>>65493158Say no to all siggers
>>65493258i remember when CZs were for hipsters and everybody was dunking on them for the finish on the interior of the frame looking like a walmart cast iron skillet
>>65493214>>65493038Random pic from google to illustrate my point, here is what I mean with blurred colours that muddy into each other instead of well saturated colours with clear definition to the lines of where the colours start/stop. When you're looking for who to do the job check their work and make sure it's sharp, I found some places that wanted $150 more than I paid for my last job who did worse paint jobs than I could with a rattle can at home.
>>65493262They were decent when a new 75 was $300 street and a glock was $550. Now glocks $620 and the CZs are $750.And even with all the co firmed design flaws with CZ, half of them straight up admitted by CZ and the normal issues of QC and terrible machining and finishes retards still shill them.

So I thought all was groovy with my trigger+sear+disconnector+mainspring housing swap job but while dry firing it and comparing it to my Dan Wesson I noticed some things. Most worryingly, the grip safety now apparently doesn't do anything. 1911men, please help. What do I need to adjust/change?>Grip safety does NOT need to be depressed for a trigger pull to drop thr hammer.>Thumb safety requires a decent amount of force to move all the way up. Clicks up part way then needs to be "forced" the rest of the way. Appears to be "engaged" at the partial position but not confidence inspiring.>Thumb safety can be engaged with the hammer in the half cock position. I don't remember if it was this way before, but it's not like this on my DW.I haven't been to the range to test fire it yet but dry firing seems to work correctly. It cocks and resets and fires normally and will shoot a pencil to the ceiling.
>>65493355>those gripsGet some wood on there, son. Maybe birch or dogwood.
>>65492692The pettier he gets the more desperate he is.
>>65493362I really love the ergos of the hk45 but as the other anon said the capacity is really rough. The FNX is already 15 rounds of 45 in almost the same size as the USP45's 12 rounds, no need to handicap yourself even further down to 10 if you plan on using the gun seriously. If you never plan on carrying it then try out the feel of a hk45 in a shop and see how you like it.Realistically you'll like both so try and catch a deal on GB and see which one you end up with.
>>65493370Mainspring housing likely does not let the grip safety pivot far enough to block the trigger bow. With the slide off you can see the grip safety’s blocking arm operation
>>65493361>and I'm glad he got pardonedMe too, his persecution and trial were among the most Kafkaesque I've seen.
Gonna go shooting tomorrow and planning to bring my PX4 and Glock 19 because I want to see how noticeable of a difference the rotating barrel actually makes, if any. Should I bring my AK too? Poor girl hasn't been to the range in like forever but I don't like maintaining AKs...

>>65493389I'm that other AnonLarry Vickers and Ken Hackathorn helped design the HK45C and that revision only received slight modifications for the production modelThe HK45 was not left intact and HK had to fuck with it to where it was a different gun>>65493393>Jury of "peers">>65493399AI = Actually IndiansEspecially in terms of intelligence and spiritual essence. >>65493463My USP holds 17+1 of .45acp so I have no idea what you’re referring to, the stock mags hold 14 if you just change the follower to a smaller .45 Glock one.
>>65493477>If you changeThat's admitting HK, in their factory form, are weak in terms of magazine capacityI own a USP45 Expert, it holds 12 rounds of .45 ACP by default. Could I change out the followers? Yes, but then it wouldn't be stock. Which is the crux of the issue.

I'm looking to get into .44 magnum for target shooting and eventually hunting. Thoughts on the S&W 629? I'd buy it new knowing full well the odds of needing warranty work due to bad QC. I just like the design and aftermarket support. I'm leaning towards the 6.5" barrel for practicality but the 5" barrel is most pleasing aesthetically. Is there any reason to buying any version of the Ruger Mark that isn't the Mark IV? I'm currently eyeing a Mark II but I'm worried I'll be missing out on features/aftermarket
I was swapping the internals over to an optics cut slide and launched the little spring in the back underneath that rear plate. After that I found out the new slide is out of spec so I couldn't even finish it if I had all the parts. I should have just sent my slide off to get milled.

Once again asking for some 84bb grip advice. Trying to find the OEM walnut grips. Main ebay seller out of stock. Per Berettaforums, only the 84, 84b, and 84bb are interchangeable gripwise. Source: >https://berettaforum.net/vb/showpost.php?p=873336&postcount=6Yet lots of redditors and the like seem fine using ones not listed explicitly for the 84/b/bb. I would prefer the maximum amount of walnut possible because good wood grips are sexy. But do the modern 84f/85fs Beretta sells work with old 84bbs? Not opposed to some rasp & filework but I want as close to the OG dark walnut grips as I can get, WITH the metal medallion, none of that laser cut wood shit.

And if I get it done through them instead of an independent gunsmith I can still rely on the warranty
>>65496093The only way I would recommend this is if you have a stupid amount of disposable income and all your other needs and wants are met. You're buying a handgun from a company with known QC issues(and it's not even us saying it, ask any fudd or revolver shooter on the internet) that you want to put MORE money into AND in an expensive caliber that you don't have any way to reload. The only barrel you're looking down is one of a bad financial decision

>>65496107>The only way I would recommend this is if you have a stupid amount of disposable income and all your other needs and wants are met. >The only barrel you're looking down is one of a bad financial decisionA slight exaggeration but you are not wrong. It's rough out there for revolverbros. I budgeted it out though and I estimate the total cost of new 629 + performance center work + grips + lock delete kit would be about $1,580. That's more than it should be, but less than an Anaconda with grips and sights I find acceptable. And a hell of a lot less than a Spohr or Korth which seem to be the only revolvers of high baseline quality that don't seem to have QC issues. Not saying it's a smart financial decision by any means, but it's not the worst
