I honestly feel bad for those of you who started transition after 2015. You came out in a world where there was a bubble of artificial social acceptance for our kind. You've never had to experience the hardship of the before times; and now it appears those hardships are starting to come back as the pendulum swings.

The acceptance of intersex and transsexuals was a political ideological bubble ran by idiots; and due to how humans are tribal creatures, people who ascribed to that particular political tribe would simply parrot the message without any real belief. They often see us as just men in dresses trying to "deconstruct" the gender binary, when nothing could be further from the truth: we're just trying to live our lives the best we can.

A few stories.

One time, I got detained by the police for stealing my own identity in a hospital. I had developed a pretty nasty case of celluitis where staph had ran throughout part of my foot. I ended up in the ER, and all I had was my old teen ID with my dead name and M on the photo ID. The ID was old enough that it didn't look too different, but my grandfather had shaved my head right before the photo because he didn't want me looking like a girl in it. I had to prove to the police that I was indeed "male". It was humiliating. After that, I had every single doctor in the ER come in to visit me. It was odd.

Another time, in an attempt to get a legitimate job, I tried to get housing and work training through Job Corps. The social workers told me that the only way I could join was if I shaved my head, stopped "playing female", and went full male to whatever it was I had to do. By the way, these same social workers before I gave them my documents, thought the young child who accompanied me was my son and I had an absent father moments before.

When I finally did get legitimate work, I still had to be careful. In the city I worked in, being trans was effectively illegal: "soliciting prostitution."

I had a older trans friends get nabbed under that "soliciting prostitution" thing. If a cop got your ID and saw M but saw a female staring back, you were in deep shit. I defaced mine over that section of my ID to help avoid this. And there was no legal defense for it, because, "why else would you dress like that other than soliciting gay men for prostitution?" That law didn't change here until 2015 or so.

We had friends who would border hop into mexico to get HRT, some of us used the internet to order things, like in /HRTgen/.

If you passed during the Obama years, and someone did eventually find out about you, it was only a matter of time before you became a "liability" once the bathroom became an issue. You could no longer use the women's, but using the men's would cause "complaints". I'd be fired soon after.

I've been denied lifesaving medical care for dangerous infections and conditions that could be solved with antibiotics because doctors would refuse to treat me for literally anything. The ONE thing I am glad for is that medical acceptance seems to now be at an all time high. My main complaint is that the idiot progressives shining a spotlight on us has made us much easier for people to spot and suspect something.

Work on your voice. It will absolutely save your life. Never admit what you are to anyone. Lie. Gaslight. Destroy or modify as much documentation as you can. If you get found out at work, find another job as soon as you can and do not let them contact your workplace. Minimize ties to your old life as much as possible. If anyone finds old photos, claim it's a now deceased cousin or brother and it's a sensitive topic.

I still do recommend burning ties and fleeing to another place once you do if possible. I'm living with my family again. They accepted me after a while and things have never been better. Not all of us get so lucky.

You're not fake, our paths are different, and I hope it doesn't get as bad as it was, or worse, for us ever again. You are blessed with the knowledge that those who have came before bestowed. Finding this knowledge and community back in the day was difficult. Support groups would often send a boyfriend or male preacher (they often met in churches, ironically) to vet you before they even let you know about the meeting location and time. Now, you can just find DIY medical and legal information all over the internet.

Take your time. It will come to you eventually. I boymoded for a year or two myself.
