Serious Weakness is realistically a 3/5 but I cannot recommend it enough if you’re into extreme horror. I don’t even want to spoil it because I’m glad I went in blind. Not for the faint of heart though. Before the coffee gets cold is also I very nice one. I recommend it to everyone I meet. I don’t think the subsequent entries in the series maintain the same strength, but they’re still worth checking out if you can handle the commitment. It’s a very comfy story that gives a nice dissection of a few people’s lives and the ways in which they intersect. You can read it in a single afternoon if you must. I shed a few tears the first time I read it.What I WON’T recommend is The Lost Apothecary. I’m reading through that now and at this point I’m just getting through it to finish it. There’s barely any conflict and the characters are the most uninteresting, directionless mouthpieces I’ve ever seen. The worst book I ever read was Cobalt Blue, and that at least stuck with me BECAUSE it was so so terrible. This is a book that is just really unremarkable. The frustration I feel now will disappear in a week and I’ll forget I even read this book.
