If Keats hadn't died, he wouldn't be remembered. He fit the sensitive young artist male who dies a tragic early death because he's so sensitive archetype that was popular in literature and art at the time. His poetry is mid.

I always imagined that the edgelords of yesteryear would naturally lean towards the MAGA movement, but apparently that was only the case with Jim Goad.I would really appreciate it if someone could provide me with the PDF of Apocalypse Culture 2. I've been looking for it for years. Welcome to /pg/, where we read, write, and discuss pulp fiction. No, not the Tarantino film, but the classic genre stories from early 20th-century magazines printed on cheap wood *pulp* paper. These tales offered thrills for the common man and let imaginations soar. Though the magazines are gone, the spirit lives on, and here at /pg/, we explore the worlds, characters, and stories they inspired. Tropical Beach EditionFAQ:>What is worldbuilding?Worldbuilding is the process of creating entire fictional worlds from scratch, all while considering the logistics of these worlds to make them as believable as possible. Worldbuilding asks questions about the setting of a world, and then answers them, often in great detail. Most people use it as a means of creating a setting or the scenery for a story.>"Isn't there a Worldbuilding general in >>>/tg/ already?"Yes, there is. However, that general is focused on the creation of fictional worlds for the intended purpose of playing TTRPG campaigns. Here you can discuss worldbuilding projects that are not meant to be used for a roleplaying setting, but for novels, videogames, or any other kind of creative project.>"Can I discuss the setting of my campaign here, though?"If you want to, but it would probably be better to discuss it on >>>/tg/ . We don't allow the discussion of TTRPG mechanics, however. If you want to discuss stats or which D&D edition is best, this is not the place.>"Can I talk about an existing fictional setting that is not mine?"Yes, of course you can!>"Does worldbuilding need to be about fantasy and elves?"Worldbuilding, as already stated above, and contrary to what many believe, does not inherently imply blatantly copying Tolkien. In fact, there are many science-fiction setting out there, and even entire alternative history settings which do not possess supernatural elements at all. Any kind of science fiction book has an implied setting at least, which involves a certain degree of worldbuilding put into it.Old Thread: >>24667235

What it feels like to say "I don't know" in response to shit you didn't care to talk about in your setting.>what is the tax code?>what do they eat?>why is there new world crops?>why don't they use nuclear reactors instead of natural gas?>how come the thieves' guild hasn't been stopped yet?>if there is ghosts does that mean there is an afterlife?I don't know (I don't care, imagine your own answer).
Do you have ghosts in your story?
Have you ever marathoned a very big book in a very short amount of time?
Read The Fountainhead in five days when I was 19, at my first job, and didnât know what to do after work except come home and read for six hours. I regularly think about all the ways I could have put that week to better use if I hadnât been young and stupid.
>>24779155>did you ever chug away a good wine? No, I have not; that would be a waste.
>>24779155I read most of Infinite Jest in a single weekend. I had the audiobook version playing at 3.5x speed in my ears and the physical text in my hands. Was a bit annoying having to pause the playback to read the endnotes, but it was manageable.

So it was all in Runciter's head, is that it? And was the real villain Jordy or Pam? And why is reincarnation mentioned so much? What's the point? Help me I'm dumb.
From what I remember, the protagonist is dead and in this world people can be kept in a stasis between life and death. That means that people from the outside can sort of contact them but not really. The protagonist is in this stasis world and it's being slowly corrupted by some fuckass boy that turns everything back in time. It turns out the boy is some form of entity and the protagonist used Ubik to fix things. If you read Androids dream of electric sheep, you'll find that he talks about kipple. At the end he throws a curveball insinuating that Runciter is also in this stasis chamber, but from what I read PKD rushed the ending.
It's been a while since I've read it, but the ending with Joe chip on the coin was pretty shit and was just a tacked on WHAT A TWEEST
Do anyone else not imagine visuals when they are reading? Like are you supposed to be so cucked that you let your mind create visuals described by another person? When authors describe things, I just take their word for it, and I will not allow an author to control me or tell me what I am supposed to be imagining.
>>24784052I imagine visuals, but it's like a dream kinda. My conscious mind is focused on reading the text but my unconscious mind is like generating the imagery for the text
>>24784052So picking up a book with somebody else's stories an ideas is somehow not being cucked, only imagining the things described? Idgi
>>24784052I enjoy directing scenes in my mind while reading fiction. It can be hard when I donât know the setting, but Iâll look up things up or look at fan art if I need to. It helps a lot with remembering small details. This too >>24785093
>>24784052>I will not allow an author to control me or tell me what I am supposed to be imagining.Sometimes I will imagine a character however the fuck I want if the author's description doesn't meet what I think the character should look like. Nothing too egregious, just sometimes I think the physical appearance I imagined is better.
The thing about this is that it's very hard to try to explain to somebody else how you perceive mental images in your head. That being said, I do visualize everything I read, subconsciously, I don't do it on purpose, it just happens. Sometimes it's pretty vivid, sometimes it's like remembering a dream, or those first dal.le pics. Reading a book feels like watching a movie to me. Afterwards, if I remember a certain part of the book, I don't remember specific sentences or how it was written, I remember how it looked in my head. It has its ups and downs. Since I mostly read prose and fiction it's fun to "watch" the characters doing stuff, but when there's a lot of introspection my mind stops visualizing (because you're just reading about mental thoughts of characters) and if I don't focus enough I lose track of the text. Like, I'm so used to visualizing while reading that I use it to make sure I understand what I'm reading, and when there's nothing to visualize it's harder for me to understand stuff. Anyone else? Or am I nuts?

Wilde was always the midwit's Walter Pater.
Homosexuality is sadomasochistic. Yes, he hates himself for being a dirty disgusting degenerate, and that is why he is a dirty disgusting degenerate. His self-loathing fuels his furious cocksucking and the more cocks he sucked the more he hated himself the more cocks he sucked. This process used to go on and on until the government would arrest them for propositioning young men in toilets, then it would go on and on until they developed AIDS and died. Now the cocksucking is endless.

âAutobiography of a Yogiâ (1946) is a fucking great book so far and Iâd even call it a modern spiritual classic. If youâre looking to get into Hinduism but reading older texts like the Gitas, Vedas, or Upanishads generally sounds daunting to you, then this would be a great primer.(Yes, to get it out of the way, I understand people today and online have grievances against Indians, particularly for flooding en masse into Western nations like the U.S. and Canada, abuse of the immigration system and H1B visas, etc., but itâs still just a great book. Iâm aware of the meme answers Iâll get in response.)As a story itâs incredibly entertaining, too. Yogananda has a great storytellerâs touch, a novelistic coherence to the whole thing, with lots of nested stories within the book and many fascinating characters met along the way. Heâs a surprisingly eloquent stylist, too, the book is ornately written with poetic diction. Some people have made it a habit to mock Westerners today interested in Eastern spiritual teachings, the whole excesses, hypocrisies, or flaws from the hippie counterculture to the modern New Age movement and the like, associated with this spiritual tourism; but, when you study some authentic forms of Eastern spirituality, like the Kriya Yoga lineage brought to the West by Yogananda and its roots in Vedic teachings, itâs hard not to see why some people are impressed by it. They go more straightforwardly into some deeper philosophical exploration of core existential issues than, perhaps, the mainstream forms of religion that more in the West are familiar with (Christianity, Judaism, and increasingly Islam today from immigration) often do, in peopleâs experiences with them. And this is not necessarily even in a supremacist way, but in a harmonious and universalist way, open to other traditions and even claiming a possible shared origin and unity with them. Teachings like Yoganandaâs make me see and respect Christ and Christianity in a profounder way, for instance, much as some may be angry or contemptuous of that very notion (out of the mindset of viewing religion like a competition). What do people think? Any other Yogananda enjoyers here? Am I a race-traitor for even appreciating some of Indian spirituality seriously as a Westerner? Whatâs going on in your heads?
