Anyone else just think about fucking 24/7? I feel like every other activity is inherently less interesting because I would rather be fucking. It's not like I don't enjoy other activities, but I'll be thinking>Man, this is really great, but you know what would make it perfect? Having a fuck right afterwards
Here's their favorite tactic:Act through layers of intermediaries. Ensure everyone in the chain has a mundane, plausible explanation for their actions. Make investigations finish neatly at a shallow level of the chain, allowing deeper inquiries to melt away. Make investigators feel closure and relief by giving them a lower-level intermediary as a sacrifice. Leave no evidence, only absence of evidence.

Listening to this Göbekli Tepe audiobook and I'm enjoying it. I'm on part five now when the author finally has gotten around to discussing the location of the Garden of Eden (turns out it's somewhere in the vicinity of south-east Turkey). I still have 40% of the book left though so it'll be interesting to see where he goes with it and the connections he ends up making between the story of Genesis and the Paleolithic hunter-gatherers of Europe, Siberia & Asia minor.
>>25084997I have sex all weighed up now; the only reason I like girls is that I want to fuck them, which is adolescent, cheap, irresponsible, not worth doing, a waste of time, not much fun anyway really, a needless distraction from my real vocation, destructive of any real power of understanding women which as a writer (lol) should be important to me, contemptible, liable to make me a laughing-stock, narrowing, impracticable, destructive of sexual pleasure in the end, something originating in my upbringing, neurotic.now all I have to is stop wanting to fuck them and I’ll have the thing licked

>>25085025Nah, you don't get it. I ENJOY the act of sex in itself. No, I wouldn't fuck just anyone, but I would fuck a woman that I wouldn't look twice at if I passed her in the street. If a woman is looking at a decently attractive looking guy and thinking "No, I wouldn't fuck him because he didn't make make my heart skip a beat/make my panties soaked" then that is NOT someone who enjoys sex as an act of spontaneous passion.

>>25084976What if each dream was It's own reality, with It's own world, It's own people, It's own laws and conversations? And what if to awake means to die?Rarely do dreams leave such an impression but this time it was one such. I dreamt I was going to some sort of interview, for a job or play I'm not sure, but it had something to do with languages. Me and another boy, who was waiting when I got there, went inside the room and the conversation struck on literature, as the interview itself was a reading or performing of a chapter or speaking part. We were talking about Joyce's Dubliners and how that was my favourite collection of short stories and the interviewer, who greatly resembled my old literature teacher but was not truly him, gave his own expertise on the matter as he had been very learned himself and had great many tomes of literature behind him on the shelves. A little after that we all went outside, going through a park on a warm sunny cloudless day, deep in conversation. Not before long we finally found a nice cool place to sit down, although I had chosen to remain standing up, it was right next to a school and the young children were all in recess. They had all split themselves in two groups, between boys and girls, and were flinging grapes at one another for fun, and of course at us as well. I had pulled out my water bottle to take a big gulp as my throat had gotten soar from talking and I needed to prepare for my reading/speaking part as the interviewer decided it was time. And then suddenly I felt the world closing in, It looked like I was being pulled out of my own body, both the man and the boy were standing over me as if I had just fainted from the heat. A second later I awoke no closure afforded me from my sudden death.

The anthropic principle may be extendable to all qualities of life, not just its' existence.Mathematical skill is present in all human cultures to some sort of extent. Many of them developed quite advanced mathematics before their fall or colonisation. Many animals are capable of comprehending a sense of scale which is based around the number of distinct items in the current environment.Mathematical skill must be genetic then, in this case, it has been selected via natural selection. Its prevalence in the animal kingdom and the success of our technologies and theories that exploit it suggests that it is, in some way, a correct method for looking at reality. Or, in other words, that reality is constructed using a system that mathematics seems to encapsulate quite nicely. At the cellular level, neurons are efficient in terms of informational capacity ("Principles of Neural Information Theory" is a good book that proves that statement), in terms of the laws of physics of this reality, the amount of neurons that could be packed into a skull is a tradeoff that we come quite close to reaching. If we assume the basic tenet of the anthropic principle, in-which our universe is one of many other possible conformations of reality, and that our particular reality has a conformation that favours life (nothing more, nothing less). Then it could be seen that a reality in-which 2+2 does actually equal 5, may not be able to host the neurological structures required for intelligence. This is very broad and abstract, and assumes many things, but I think it possible to ascribe more qualities of life to fundamental constraints and allowances of reality. Not just existence.

>>25085299When approached not as a diversion but as a contemplative aid, high quality hashish or carefully refined cannabis extracts have long been reported to exert a clarifying and vivifying influence upon the intellect, drawing scatter faculties into a more luminous coherence. Accounts across centuries suggest a peculiar sharpening of attention, an intensification of intuitive insight, and a heightened capacity to apprehend subtle correspondences that ordinarily elude the hurried mind.In this state, ideas are not merely grasped sequentially but seem to disclose their inner relations simultaneously, rendering the study of metaphysics and timeless principles unusually fertile.Early nineteenth century European experimenters captivated by hashish remarked upon its power to suspend habitual modes of perception and to reveal depths of thought inaccessible to sober discursiveness alone, while pre-modern religious contexts in south Asia regarded similar substances as sacral adjuncts to philosophical and yogic inquiry rather than as ends in themselves. In both cases the substances were understood not as a source of truth but as an instrument that, under disciplined conditions, could momentarily thin the veil of ordinary cognition and allow the intellect to contemplate more directly those perennial realities that transcend historical circumstance and cultural form.
I have sο many questions regarding suicide. The one time I was so close to putting a gun in my mouth it was because a doctor had fucked up my medication and I'd become obsessed with the idea that I was going to get fired from my job and lose my house. And the pain felt physical like I was hypervenilating and my head was buzzing. Is it like that for everyone?
>>25085372>Many animals are capable of comprehending a sense of scale which is based around the number of distinct items in the current environment. What? what's an example of that? This is a political issue but my commentary on it isn't political, its just something I found funny:>voter ID is popular with basically everyone: White and Hispanics are in the high 80% and Blacks aren't that far back with 76%>usually suspects are upset about this because they can't say "black people are too dumb to get IDs to vote">flip to using women: "70 million women are married and would be unable to vote if they had to show ID because their maiden name doesn't match their married name.">read this and think: "Just show them a copy of your marriage certificate, if that comes up... It's considered a legal document for identification.">apparently in the comments, literally not one women thought of this even the women who were shitting on the post>mfw their argument that blacks are too dumb to get IDs to vote was just protection the whole timeI love when shit like this happens, I can't believe they owned themselves collectively like that. I've been giggling about it the whole day.
>>25086287Having to show ID to vote is extremely normal in all of Europe, I had no idea it was something controversial in the US lol. How do you, avoid, say foreigner influence in your election? You're slowly becoming the embodiment of a negative meme and I cannot stand it.>>25086287>because their maiden name doesn't match their married name."The husbands fucked up way worse
>>25086331nta but I'll give you a straight answer, it's controversial in the US because it's most commonly used as a tool to suppress the democratic vote. conservatives will say it isn't, but that's what it's for -- poor blacks are the least likely to have a valid ID, poor blacks are the most likely to vote Democratic, hence why conservatives push for voter ID laws. they then turn around and make it harder to get an ID -- it takes more time, or you need more paperwork, or IDs expire more quickly, or it costs more money, whatever. then they say that only certain kinds of IDs are valid IDs to vote with; a common one is for states to say that college IDs aren't valid for use as voter IDs because college populations are very likely to vote democratic. they think it'll drop the total vote count which is correlated with higher chance of conservative victory in elections. >how do you avoid foreigner influence in electionsvoter fraud (where someone's impersonating someone else in order to vote) in the united states is astonishingly rare, less than 100 cases (and I'm pretty sure it's actually less than 50) happened in the '24 election. the kind of influence you're talking about is basically impossible to pull off, in the US you have to register to vote, which usually means you have to fill out a form that says your name is X, your social security number is X, you live at X address, etc. the govt then checks this against whatever database they have and gives you a voter registration card that says you're good to vote. many states make you show photo ID anyway, which is just another layer of proof you are who you say you are. it's practically infeasible for the CCP to send twenty thousand people to a swing state with fake IDs and fake SSNs blah blah to vote. when foreigners do meddle in US elections it's through disinformation -- fake robocalls/ads saying that demographics most likely to vote democratic can vote online, which you can't, or fake ads saying that X candidate ate a puppy alive, or or or.
>>25086349Intredasting. So you do have a layer of protection. Doesn't the registration form already function as an ID of sorts then?
>>25086372yes, it does>then why do voter ID laws thento suppress the vote

>>25086349>poor blacks are the least likely to have a valid IDThat's actually wrong, they are the most likely to have up-to-date ID because they are the most likely to commit crimes and be on parole, which is mandatory to have at least 1 form of ID that is not expired.

>>25086331>How do you, avoid, say foreigner influence in your election? You don't, the way we do it right now is by checking to see if the person is an actual citizen and shows up in the citizen registry, the problem is this can be abused with dead people who weren't reported or processed properly, voter ID would help suppress that influence and would probably cut down on voter turnover because there would be at least 2 layers of verification needed.>Can't the CCP theoretically send an army of undercover agents (ridiculous scenario but bear with me) to influence the result? They can and they have but our intelligence agency is very good at sniffing them out before hand, but isn't so good about it if they are already citizens, if that makes sense.Voter integrity is highly important to any election and anyone who wants to stop any sort of voter ID automatically is trying to game the system and make it less fair for people who legitimately want to take part in the election.People like to jerk off the Black vote a lot, mainly because it votes in a Bloc, but that bloc has significantly weakened and even without voter ID only 1/3rd of all Blacks in America vote while 2/3rds of white Americans vote. So this idea that we can't make our elections safe because a ton of people who were never interested in voting in the first place happen to have darker skin is no different than the slave owners saying that their slaves can't be free because they are animals who are incapable of caring for themselves. Its just blatant racism masked as empathy to weaponize and destroy the chances of a fair election.

>>25086565Kek>>25086560Kek, this is really funny to me because a lot of saints days are srs bsns in Catholicism. I like Saint Valentine (patron of epileptics, fainting, and beekeepers, not just the engaged) but the idea of spending money in the way that corporate marketing wants you to for the day is crazy. Why it used be big is because if you're catholic and want to propose marriage or celebrate an engagement, you're doing it on the day with patronage from the guy who liked affianced couples. It's kind of like it's normal to put sweets in someone's shoes at the start of December but if you're doing it in mid June, there's probably something wrong with you or some black magic going on

Is there a historical precedence for something as scandalous as the Epstein files? As terrible as the harm inflicted on thousands of children is, I feel like anyone sufficiently pessimistic enough would believe that this has been happening since time immemorial.
Last July I noticed that my car wouldn't rev over 3500 in park, so I took it on a country road engineered for 10 miles like a runway for military jets. The result was the same at 110 mph @3500 rpm. I didn't feel a goddamn thing through the seat of my pants at any time, a sensation I like. I've since addressed the issue, which is a software one. I'm moved by rather a lot of things, from architectural trends in Utrecht to a falcon I almost hit today.

>>25086657I like that theme. Hope you treat it well and make it mature.Although I dropped the "Invincible" show quite early, there was something really cute about the relationship between that robot dude who was actually a real human with a deformed and handicapped body forced to live through an automaton, and monster girl, who is stuck being a teen because she loses her aging every time she uses her powers.Although I like the female form, there is something indescribably radiant about finding beautiful souls stuck in robots, or inadequate bodies; I think that has to do with how I rank things, the soul, the ego, consciousness, individuality, come first, and themes of 'trapped' souls, through contrast, highlight that importance, that order of things.Reminds me of that Korean movie "The Beauty Inside". I always compare it to Shrek, because Shrek is a story about "the beauty inside" as well, but wherein they reject the beautiful appearances that was offered to them, and I despise this movie for it, but in The Beauty Inside, they have a theme where they insist on choosing good bodies for themselves by the end (long story short: the main protagonist changes body every day, but through love can stabilize his form, and so he waits for a good body to stabilize his form)Given a choice, why not choose beauty? Most souls view their physical vehicle as a constraint, and anyone would prefer for it to match their grand and beautiful soul if given the choice. I view any kind of acceptance of a mediocre body (Shrek) as a renunciation to any kind of dignity and moral grandeur of the soul, it is giving up on the ability of the ideals of your mind to direct and elevate everything that is physical, that is freedom I speak of, it's why Shrek rubs me the wrong way: It wants to be life-affirming, with its songs and fun, but thematically it's an abandonment of the sublime; of the order of things, of the supremacy of mind over matter; Ok, Shrek, it's good to "accept yourself as you are", but now claim life, claim all the good matter, the good beauty, the good shit, everywhere, ffs, why accept yourself as only a half-measure, say "Yes" to yourself and then do nothing to promote it, to make it best, to make it harmonious?

Things are slowly getting better. It's been more than a month since my father's passing. I still feel like shit at times, and there have been moments when I've felt very low, but I think that, overall, I am doing better, though I still miss a lot. I don't know if I'll ever stop missing him. I think I've started to take life much more seriously now. I had lost other relatives before, cousins, uncles, and my grandfather, but now it is different. Death always seemed so distant. Everyone I had lost before had been at a very old age, or after being ill for a long time. But my father's was sudden and unexpected. I could just as easily lose any of my other loved ones, or die myself.

Just found out a used book I had spent $45 on, which I was under the impression of that it was rare & out of print, was actually published in 2022 and that I could have purchased it new for half the price from Indigo. I feel like an idiot. For some reason Amazon only has used copies of this specific for sale, and TYPICALLY in that case it really is out of print, but I happened to Google the title just now and it's $23 at Indigo. Next time before I order ANYTHING from the 'zon, not even just used books but new ones too, I am checking Indigo first; and I'll be making that a habit. The book was Zothique: The Final Cycle by Clark Ashton Smith btw. Why do these dying Earth books cost so much money by the way. A copy of the complete Dying Earth by Jack Vance is $45 CAD NEW, so in that case I really did save some money (I had bought a used copy from the 'zon for $30). Fucking hell. Inflation is out of control in this country and books are so expensive now.

Looking back it should have been obvious I had OCD. In this moment I cannot stop replaying a 10 second scene from the animated Grinch Christmas movie and it's been happening for like an hour now and it won't stop. I also cannot ever imagine myself playing super smash brothers because every time I try, my brain spawns in a red turtle shell which prevents my character from moving across the stage at all--this has been the case since I was probably 10. When I would pray with my parents at night when I was little, I had to pray the exact same random thing every time or it would be hard to sleep. I can still recite that random string of words with a 4-year-old's cadence and diction by sheer muscle memory. I also had an intrusive thought of an orthodox monk I saw on youtube but he would get sick and turn green in this cartoonish way in something like a 2 second looping gif in my head that lasted like a year that would randomly for maybe 10 minutes at a time appear once a day minimum. I don't think I've ever told anyone these things.

>>25087171When you have shared fundamental morals and political premises, discourse can be highly productive. But yes, when there's an essential, intrinsic incompatibility, it's just warfare via words.
>>25087171And it's also quite interesting how often criticism tends to originate from pre-rational, pre-critical motivations. How many people throughout history criticized christianity or morality itself not for what it is, but because it told them that being a degenerate is wrong? Or because delegitimizing the criticized thing in question was an important political matter to furthering the critic's own agenda.

Could the idea of evil be a cope, in the sense that we would sooner accept bad things happening due to a fault of character rather than intractable innate drives or irreconcilable conflicts of interest, because we have no real control over the latter things, but we presume that character faults are just what they are, unnatural deviations from a norm, a "misfiring" or a failure of humanity?

>>25087357I don’t want to critique that media shorthand per se because it gets a point across. However, talking about experiencing actual non-existence… saying it’s darkness and leaving it there doesn’t seem to do it justice. For one, someone needs to identify the darkness. If the darkness is being identified, someone is in that darkness to identify it. It’s no longer darkness but darkness observed. It’s a concept of darkness but not darkness. It needs to be unobserved to be nothing.

>>25087264meh, I'm rather optimist towards human capabilities, pessimist with what most people do with it. I'd say the mind and the will is capable to rule over innate drives in pretty much anyone, and If they can't achieve it it's because people lack strength, honesty, or because they've spent too much time with certain beliefs and sunk cost fallacy kicks in, or because they can't be properly alone and so must always lose their individuality in favor of a collective mindset. You could say these things make it so that people don't have "choice", because their circumstances overpowers their strength. I still think there is a difference between saying people, no matter their circumstances, can't change for the better because the will is too weak compared to animal instincts, and saying that the circumstances makes it too hard for some minds to become good, I think I believe the latter. That sounds leftist that I believe circumstances matter, but leftists specifically believe *material* circumstances matter, thinking that making the poor richer will make them change their behavior is too reductive in my opinion. When I think of circumstances I think way more about culture, how much people around you leave you be, alone, how much they promote self-reliance, commerce, virtues, intellectual satisfactions over sensuousness. If niggers remains idiots throughout their lives I blame this much more on culture, and strong memes, than material constraints, or irremediable genetics. And bad ideas reproduce and take centuries to unfold, it's why it seems as if certain behavior are unmovable, like a law of nature. Stupid idiots are stupid, but I never see so much of a capability gap, like I see in animals, much more a sensibility gap, a value gap, a cultural gap. The only reason I see poverty sustain itself is because poverty breeds group-thinking behaviors, by far the strongest meme one should protect against, but I remain an optimist for the human will; people are not evil by nature, or inevitably evil, that's my view.
Do you ever see οr read something so shocking that it literally evokes a feeling of "evil" in you that makes all your other moral values seem like performative virtue signaling in comparison? I mostly only get that feeling when topics like child abuse and torture come up but last night I was watching some rando documentary that suddenly went hard-core into DRUG ADDICTION BAD and it kinda freaked me out. Would you say that addiction is a form of innate evil?

>>25087690Addiction is like a subscription to evil:* valuation of sensuousness over the self* lack of self-controlhmm, I guess you can be addicted to work, in which case it's not so much sensuousness that is promoted, maybe just escapism, avoiding boredom at all cost, but at the cost of greater intellectual development, because you never introspect and you despise it. I guess addiction is better defined as any very strong habit that prevents actual physical or intellectual development, that hinders growth. hmm, thinking further I guess you can be addicted to working out, or learning stuff, what comes out from "addiction" then, that inability to stop and take a pause, is an excessive development and therefore an unbalanced body or mind, burdened by too much muscles, or physical pain, or dumb inapplicable knowledge in this example of working out or learning "too much".Well, then, whether too little or too much growth, addiction, that strength of habit that makes you incapable to pause, makes you slave to a pleasure or some activity of effort, and always leads to some kind of imbalance. > innate evilWhat's "innate" evil? I don't think anyone is born addicted. not sure what that means then, innate in what?
should i go to the gym today? i'm kind of sore, and also it's valentine's day and i don't want to have to endure locker room banter about going to expensive restaurants and then having sex which i already had to put up with all week. man FUCK normies. can't i work out in peace.
(This is more of a question that does not deserve its own thread.)My father is a literature teacher and he has written some short essays on his favorite writers, some are long dead, but some are contemporary.I think the content is great and I thought it would do great as book of its own, an intro to the world of literature. The problem is that for each article he points to a fragment of the writer's work, between 2 to 5 paragraphs, no longer than a book spread, but connected to what is being said on the article, so it's no use without them. I'm concerned we hit a brick wall for the project here, as we would have to ask for the rights of reproduction for each individual book/publisher. But perhaps I'm overthinking this and to reproduce a page of prose like this is something they would let it slide like an ordinary quotation, and ultimately consider good exposure if we credit the editions? What do you think?
I was stressing out over how my life isn't where it is and having so much to do I decided to just go ahead and paint traditionally.I feel more at peace mentally. Turns out having something to focus on really does help your mental health.

>>25086708>>25086709I mean further back in time than in recent memory. As far as I know, the sexual exploitation of women (by the bourgeoisie) didn't garner notice until around the Industrial Revolution in places like Paris, which begs the question of what the aristocracy was up to before Industrial Revolution. Based on monarchs like Henry VIII, I can surmise that they were generally immoral, but to what extent I don't know.
>>25087805British Grooming gangs, which by the way are still happening and still being covered up. The UK's Department of Justice recently deleted THEIR WHOLE LEGAL ARCHIVE because there was a politician who wanted to make those cases public. This literally happened this Wednesday or Thursday. If you don't know, in much of Europe and the UK almost all criminal cases are private and can't be accessed by the public.

>>25087828simp/10, I'm enjoying just relaxing and not having to worry about that.
>>25087805There's a lot before then industrial revolution. There's almost always a push for hygiene in disease outbreaks, and usually that involved starting registers of whores and examinations (yeah medicine knew nothing then but that doesn't mean they didn't try). There's even tourist directories in the regency period in case it was your first time looking for a whore of a particular speciality.Even older than registers and medical exams, sumptuary laws are generally mostly aimed at whores, because they're the only ones with incomes outsizing their social station which allow them to buy garments above that station.

My mom said the neighbor came over at 11am to tell me happy Valentine's day, but I was still sleeping (I usually get up about 12pm).
>>25087892Probably when Xmas rolls around again, also while you wait you can look up Soulash and Soulash 2, there's some political fuckery with the Dev but if you are looking for something like DF: Adventure Mode look those games up, they are pretty solid.
>>25087895Its a sign to start waking up early.
older fella at work discovered i knew who tarkovsky was. this, apparently, qualified me as a person of depth (i didn’t have the heart to say i don’t rate him at all) and now he lends me films to watch over the weekend, except our tastes are a little different, so now my homework is i have to watch 2010: the year we made contact and give a verdict on monday.
kino
>>25087895I never got this idea that Valentine's day extends to people you are non-romantically love. I'd be creeped out if I had some sort of hag come over to wish me a happy VDay.
>>25087907It could be worse and having someone who might have different tastes than you is just an opportunity to give him homework back and if he complains about it just say you didn't complain when you were reading Tarkovsky. Eventually the corrosion of each other's personality will shape you into a slightly more rounded person.
>>25087910They were inside the house, a mom and her daughter. It's happened before. My room doesn't have a door, and last time I could see the daughter looking at me because my dad was giving her a bowling ball to have which were next to my room.

>>25087951>Why are so many devs neoliberal apologists? What makes him neoliberal apologists? He just didn't want same sex marriage and interracial (as in humans marrying orks and elves) in his game. I think he was kinda retarded for then flipping out and updating his game specifically to break the mods that people made for that type of content, he needs to understand that when you make something and allow mods people are just gonna do what you want and you'll just have to deal with it. At the same time I appreciate him sticking to his beliefs, even if he did it in such an unpolished way but I imagine he was just getting tired of being harassed by the rainbow brigade about it all the time.
>>25087962I think i have that lemme check
>>25087970Oh so he's the other way around, I see. I was more or less talking about other developers being pro-Ukraine and all that shit.

>>25087361But I've become exponentially hornier as an adult when I used to settle for humping the bed at night.
>>25087960Why them specifically?
I always want to write, but I'm always under threat of being harassed by my parents. I know I'm able to channel this trauma into my writing to "enhance" it, and truth be told I willingly endured it under the pseud belief I'd improve, but now that I've got the ability I don't want to do it to the stories I've dreamed up. The characters that have comforted me in so many ways while I tried to get them out of my mind in one piece. I don't want to continue the cycle of abuse by taking it out on my characters!
>>25087980eh? i meant i’m british. no ‘paco’s in england.

>>25087976He is Polish so he is probably anti-Russian considering the geopolitics and frankly how Germany and Russia both put them into camps to genocide them, I assume most Polish are very sensitive about German and Russian relations for that reason.
>>25087978nta, but KeeperRL looks like its based off of Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2, so if you don't mind playing older games with shitty controls (there may be a mod or a remake that allows more more modern UI and movement) you should play those. They are considered classics and have spawned their own little sub-genre because of how much people loved DK 1 and 2, but I have a feeling it might also be nostalgia fueled as well.

>>25087991I have way too many like the latter in the pipeline and I genuinely cannot begin to think of anything like the former because it hurts too much. I feel better by not acknowledging it, like how a wound gets healed up by the body. Addressing it causes the wound to open up and I'm left gasping for air. Literally, I am so sensitive and under so much stress my body breaks down out of nowhere sometimes. Last year around this time I was so sick from begging for some peace and quiet that I couldn't do anything but sleep for two months. I want to experience the illusion of happiness, not torture myself more than life already does.

It genuinely feels like a reckoning is looming over the horizon.
