>>22923287>TURN A SPACE (Turn A Gundam canceled sequel, a main inspiration for G-RECO)So G-Reco IS after Turn A then?
Can we also include stuff that was never accepted, rather than discarded and canceled stuff?
>>22923298Ishigaki SEED would've been interesting.
>>22923298Anno's rejected design for the Nu Gundam and Sazabi>>22923297In the mind of Tomino yes. But not Bandai. While TURN A SPACE had a few common plotline (and design), it was still a very different concept. G-reco I think is a bit a mix of TURN A SPACE, Ring of Gundam (the old short was originally supposed to be a bigger project) and new elements.

Early grunts from X were actual variations of UC mobile suits.
>>22924160So uninspired. Typical of X. It is like a recycle bin of designs and concepts blandly thrown together.
>Discarded design is recycled for a later series
Loran early design
Bellri and Aida early design. Also, as a fun fact : in the first plan for G-reco, there wasn't going to be a lot of mobile suit, with most mechas being called "man machine" like in Gaia Gear

00 was stated by Mizushima himself to have had more exotic Gundam concept art, including from when CB's MS were originally Chess-themed, but none of those were ever shared.Still, looking at some of the available early designs, it would have been interesting to have broken even further away from the usual MS aesthetic in favor of a really futuristic style.
>>22924914
>>22924802AUs have original designs. New spins on concepts.
Gun BanderA series about a robot that'd form by absorbing stones and rocks from the environment with magnetic powers.Magnet robots started to lose in popularity at that time, the concept was too weird and hard to pull off as toy and the whole thing ended up becoming Goshogun instead.

As an inside joke, "Nebulard" actually gets name-dropped in the show when the main characters try to come up with a name for the Orguss.
Dougram was called Zactics and Space Buffalo during production.Wouldn't be surprised if the name of the "Turbozack" backpack is sort of a leftover from that.
>>22925176Thanx anon. It looks like that's a collection of loose pages of settei. I doubt I can find a clear, flat, complete set of images anywhere... Sigh
Daitarn 3 was actually in planning before Zambot under the name Bomber X but the sponsor went bankrupt and production was put on hold.
At a very early planning stage Trider G7 was going to star a 22yo company president who fought gangs in space.
Tentative titles for Ideon were Space Runaway Gando Rowa and Liner Space Ideon.
Dunbine's working titles were Sirbine and Amalgan. The latter wasn't chosen because it sounded too much like "too many leftover toys" in Japanese (it was used for a Wings of Rean character instead) and Tomino's team went with Dunbine instead because it had not just one but two "n"s in it and they had an iron rule that everything without an "n" in its title was jinxed to fail so it was going to have twice the luck.
>>229232871998 Gatchaman planning is super rare but if anyone can dig it up it could be cool to see the Phoenix and vehicles.
The initial names for the Galatt robots were Jumbow, Hop and Step.
Tomino once wrote a novel version of Zambot 3 but dropped it after a few dozen pages. He has no intention to ever release it and is going to take it to his grave.
Oh, and apparently, according to a Great Mechanic G column, in it there was a different reason for why people gathered around Kappei at the end: to eliminate the last remaining alien
Gonna dump a bunch. From a cancelled Gundam project; I don't remember the lore, someone else might though. iirc it was supposed to be something of a spiritual reimagining of 0079.
Daiohja's separate mechs had a lot more distinctive samurai, gunslinger and Roman warrior designs. Two of the most important things when they created the combined main bot werea) the essential three-leafed crest markb) that the mech was symmetrical so they could easily mirror and flip the stock footage

Iron Vendetta was a joint French/Japanese mecha anime project that began as an original doujin concept, picked up by Ankama, then collapsed not long after releasing an Episode 0 due to the sponsor going out of business. It was last officially stated to have been on-hold back in 2013 when trying to find another sponsor to get it fully animated.
>>22925477What remains of the project have been short stories released, doujin-style, on the Vendetta website before it closed. A DVD was released with all the concept art and stories written, alongside the incomplete Episode 0.
