Color timer and stories not just being alien based are elements from the original that aren't in Seven but are in most successors. Some Ultra became human forms of the hosts like in Seven, but that's something they go back and forth with being an Ultra fused with a human like in the original series.If anything I'd say Return of Ultraman is the show that "standardized" Ultraman the most. It defined both Ultra and Seven as part of the same continuity, also dumped the near future setting that both Ultraman and Seven had, going for just present day with some futuristic tech around for the monster fighting organizations, and had a more standard relationship between Ultra and host that you'd see in later series compared to the original.
