> Shrieker original name was «CHICXULUB» but it changed due to Keanu having issues saying the name
> «The actual story? Changed significantly, as I mentioned last post. And largely, as I also mentioned, for the better. When I was brought on board there was all this canon: a spice-like McGuffin called “coral”, which acted as a networked intelligence and plastic explosive and (I kid you not) food source. The game Fires of Rubicon takes place on a planet ravaged by a catastrophe that burned all the coral off its face (along with about 95% of its biosphere); it begins fifty years later, when the Coral seems to be making a comeback and there’s a gold rush booting up because He Who Controls The Coral Controls— You get the idea. The protagonist is called Raven. His handler is Walter, and he’s a slippery cryptic sonofabitch who keeps his agenda very close to his chest. The voice in Raven’s head is Ayre, and she appears to be a some kind of sentient iteration of Coral that interfaces with Raven’s implants. I was originally retained to tell a story about these characters, but one that wouldn’t give away any major plot or character elements of the actual game.»
>story removed those elements so that it can be linked to all AC games and not just 6, and also not to spoil 6.
> «The very title—“Asset Management”—derives from the way Walter treated Raven; with Walter virtually eliminated from the story, it dangles like a vestigial appendix»
>most dialogues were the same even when it was «canon»
>the writer DIDN’T PLAYED ANY AC GAMES and based everything over Reddit post.
> writer was a bit disappointed by how the mecha battle looks because it wasn’t realistic enough then says «Admittedly, the whole premise of giant mechs punching each other in the face is fundamentally silly»

it had so many red flags elements. Whoever fixed everything from this writer is a hero.

Happens with many adaptation. Because many people believes the lore of video game if "childish" (beside exceptions when it's by "authors") and needs to be modified to be more serious.
As an example, everyone respect Hideo Kojima , but when there was Metal Gear games not written by him, they were directly put aside as not important, even though many have superb writings. But they were not done by "authors" so it doesn't matter anymore. They are not "part of the good ones" for the general public.

It's slowly happening too with modern From Soft games, many people always credit Miyazaki for everything and every project, even when it's not the case, and Miyazaki himself want other people to be important, but Miyazaki now became an "author" and everyone else is unimportant. An if he does AC7, many will see it better than AC6 "by default" due to this.

>That Arquebussy VP AC
I must say, the months leading up to the release of AC6 had me frothing at the mouth for the expectations being set by the Melander C3, Arquebus VP4X and Orbiter Bipeds, it was looking like a 3rd gen Renaissance. Post release though, it was a majority of gen 4, anime references, or Kawamori's new style of giving his designs Nike sneakers + top-down tapered MG Ray legs, rather than planted bell-bottom legs he did before. Just a little more of those early leaked designs, and I'd die a happy man

Tangential to your (very good) point; I am still completely convinced Mister Zaki was not responsible for the elements that made DeS and DaS great. The newer games show a severe lack of understanding of the original vision. If anything I believe him to be a driving force in the "formulation" of these games and I hope he never works on an AC game.
>>
>>22991154
>and I hope he never works on an AC game
Didn't he work on 4 and 4A?
>>
I did the last mission of AC1 with the heavy quad legs and base booster. The platforming section felt like a personal sleight against me for not picking up the hidden booster that would’ve solved my issues. Same thing happened with the moonlight laser blade stage I had to platform and stubbornly wait for my energy to refill, what a lesson to learn. Can’t wait to start the human plus run through that’ll be a breath of fresh air styling on the game.
>>

It's less an issue with him, I believe he's still a good director, even if I wasn't a big fan of Elden Ring (I understand why it was extremely popular though as it's more streamlined, could say the same with how AC6 is compared to other games really, though I liked AC6), it's an issue more with fans and people. He himself want more people to be known and to be directors. It's fans who create these issues. It's like how a team who was going to make MGS4 was bullied by people with death threats to resign and bring Kojima back.
>>22991155

You might want PLOW going into the ACMoA 2nd disc if don't want to send every enemy AC to the parking garage shadow realm
Or if you make your own custom arena of disgustingly OP ACs.
>>
>>22991349
Are you seriously implying MoA cannot be beaten without PLOW unless you abuse the parking garage?
>>
>>22991355
I never said it CANNOT be. Someone MIGHT want a screw around H+ file, and a normal file. You don't need the parking garage, but a new player may not have the patience. After beating disc 2, on hardware, with no file transfer, its nice to have fun with an AC that's as ridiculous as ACE, when its all said and done. You know, having fun?
>>

PLOW isn't fun, it's like using a gameshark. Regular H+ sure, but PLOW? No. It just let's you ignore every single metric of AC building, it's like you turned on kid mode so your six year old brother could play the game.

I am more amazed by how they even target anything with the cannon. Look at how the thing is braced, they would have to use the tracks to adjust the aim. I think the tracks can be found in game in the spaceport too, just with a smaller, conventional cannon (and that one is still crazy big compared to your AC).

>the writer DIDN’T PLAYED ANY AC GAMES and based everything over Reddit post.
So he legitimately thought Ayre was a manipulative headmate feeding into 621's worst impulses when she's the complete opposite in the game? I want to know what illiterate redditor he based this off of and how this view is as popular as it is. Thank god this was changed, what would've been a complete butchering of her and 621's relationship and character was made into an interesting alternative look into how a coral waveform that isn't as benevolent as her might behave.
>>
>>22991706
>interesting alternative look into how a coral waveform that isn't as benevolent as her might behave.
We already had this in the games, mind you. Seria was so apathetic towards her own kin that it terrified Dolmayan away from Coral Release and pushed him to try and kill us for pursuing it.
>>
>>22991542
Nice matte black.
>>
>>22991717
It'll never happen but I'd kill for a prequel novel or short story of Dolmayan's relationship with Seria. Whatever they had going on was some seriously toxic shit, because despite rejecting her and being horrified at her apathy, he still deeply cares for her and admits that if she was the one who had to kill his kind in order to talk to him he would've been fine with it.
>>
>>22991727
I think Dolmayan might have also just been looking at it through the wrong lens. Not all Coral is seemingly sentient, Allmind refers to Ayre as a C-pulse wave "mutation". The existence of Seria as well could imply it's a somewhat common mutation, but it's still a mutation. Ayre seems to have a bleeding heart for all Coral, but Seria just may not have cared about Coral that wasn't sentient. It's still cold as it is still alive and her own species, but to her the non-sentient Coral may have just been seen as a resource to be utilized. Even Ayre is content to use Coral as fuel to serve the greater good when she pilots Echo/Sol and she doesn't have any comments against 621 if we use a Coral generator/weapons and turn our AC into a C-weapon either.
>>
>>22991718
Thanks anon, I thought it looked nice too. A shame the garage menu adds a somewhat blue tint to everything, it can make nailing colors like that a bit of a bitch. A lot of black shades just look blue in there so it's very easy to accidentally go too dark or overcorrect too hard.

Just watched the Secret Level AC episode and holy shit it was so garbage.
It started out ok, then it just went down hill with the stupid looking fights and the edgy trash ending.
It left such a sour taste in the mouth too, because the series was overall pretty enjoyable and by a studio that delivered really strong animations with good scripts in the past.
It had so much potential and it was all wasted in a terrible script that completely missed the core message of the armored core series, dumb calitrannies and keanu reeves.

You''d think if they had something greenlit after AC6's success it should come out a lot faster with a ton of assets and production pipelines already done.

Can some lore god clear this up for me? What exactly is the relation between the Gen 1 games? Phantasma seems like it can more or less take place at any time, but AC1 and MoA seem kind of mutually exclusive to me, seeing as both end up with you destroying the AI controlling the Nest.
>>
>>22991970
MoA is a retelling of AC1 since as you said it they both ends with destroying the controller behind Nest. If you want to be anal about it MoA is after the Chrome - Murakamo conflict with Chrome losing, while that conflict is the main plot point of AC1. While AC1 has no clear sequels MoA has AC2 has a sequel timeline-wise. PP is whatever, it's totally disconnected from both AC1 and MoA, maybe it would be more correct to put it later AC1/MoA since there is no Controller around.

Honestly Wrecker is mainly for style, but also for full-guns-blazing recoil control because when I have so little trigger-time before cooldown fucks me over, I can't afford to miss, but the intended range is so damn point blank that it would be an awful idea for either of us to stay close longer than .5 seconds. It's meant for a hit and run kind of playstyle given its fuckhuge burst, high cooldown time, and really fast groundspeed.
Webm kinda related, it's dated to right around when Ranked first launched and the scene has evolved a lot I've noticed.

I agree, I played through the whole series right before 6 to see what it was about, I had fun though the gameplay in the missions could get stale (I might add I played them all back to back so maybe it's just a personal issue).
I would've loved the debt system again it's impossible to get broke unless you play extremely horrible and since you can repeat levels from the begining it wouldn't really had made a difference for lower skilled players. It could've made for a more fun challenge for those that would've liked it

To be honest the debt system was never well fleshed-out. Save scumming always dodged it and even if you didn't do that, you could easily circumvent it entirely by just using energy weapons. In games with arenas it's even more of a joke because the arenas VOMIT free credits all over your face. I'd like to see an AC game where debt is a risk throughout the entire campaign. Jack up those ammo and repair costs boys.

many defence corporations run ad campaigns for multi million dollar fighter jets in the real world
>>
>>22993105
you realize fighter jet manufacturers post ads for planes only congressmen will buy? If anything AC parts are cheaper since individuals regularly purchase multiples.
>>
>>22993111
>If anything AC parts are cheaper since individuals regularly purchase multiples.
They aren't though. In past games for example missions where you had to defend tanks/jets/helis would only penalize you 1k-5k credits max per unit lost. It's safe to assume that's how much they cost to be replaced, and no AC parts are that cheap in any game.
>>22993110
Fair I guess, though there's nothing suggesting that's a bar for pilots. Judging by the dumped shitty lore blurbs from the "writer" and guy who salvaged it it seems more to me the bar was intended to be a Rubiconian one frequented by the RLF.
>>
>>22993123
>There's nothing suggesting that's a bar for pilots
...Other than the picture Keanu leaks his juices all over that says "Forged in ash, we stand as one" and only shows Keanu clearly, in the far right of the frame.
And the Barkeep telling the patrons to not fight him since he's valuable
>>
>>22993129
Anon all of that you just mentioned supports it being an RLF bar, not an AC pilot bar.
>>
>>22993123
>It's safe to assume that's how much they cost to be replaced
its probably just a financial penalty and not the true unit cost

So are you saying that the RLF are just gonna go against the corps with clapped out Rubicon AKs? Even MT pilots might still be interested in a high end AC.
Keanu is already a pilot there, he's just extremely autistic. The other details make me think he's in a small collective of pilots. Not to mention it's not like he needs to travel super far to get to his garage/catapult.

>>22993123

most infuriating thing in this game by far, even more than bad netcode lasers. it also just screams lazy game design because instead of programming the projectiles with an actual arming distance the game just spawns a new entity or whatever the fuck it’s called.

-Coral Oscillators are both very strong
-WLT rifle is sort of a meme, but the uncharged shots are good if you can shake the weight
-REDSHIFT rifle is to be used like a coral shotgun, the charged shot is a delete button on staggered enemies, regular shots are just okay.
-Coral missile is gonna be either hot fucking trash or ludicrously strong depending on what it's paired with and what you're up against.

>>
>>22993637
>Nebula Redshift
It’s just a harder to use and harder hitting Javelin Alpha. It’s uncharged poke is okay but the bullets are slow. Best used as stagger punish slop.
>Walter Rifle
Even after all the buffs it’s merely a complimentary weapon meant to be paired with an actual workhorse weapon like etsujin. Not bad when paired with bad cook either. Primary charged shot is pretty decent with fast bullets however the charge time is slow, Secondary noodle beam is best used for pressure and suppression and never ever use it without en to spare or else you’ll just be a sitting duck.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I would say try to put something of your own experience in your work. Not something you've seen on a screen, read in a book or heard from a speaker. Don't try to use fictional work as an outlet for political frustration. Don't try to convince the reader you are a learned academic, who will teach them avaluable lesson. Generally assume your audience is of equal intelligence as you are.
Try to make something that you would actually want to read/watch yourself. If you can't get yourself to look at your stuff, it's likely noone else will.

Level design in DMC overall is kinda scuffed, largely thanks to it going through the superficial motions of a Resident Evil scenario as a side effect of being a developmental off-shot of RE up until DmCDMC switched to the Bayonetta school of fuck it just go on a platformer adventure.
And if you want to really get into the details of people complaining about 5, you have to be the kind of autist who does style beast combo videos and has entire essays ready to copy and paste about how weird gameplay quirks in one entry that don't exist in another are why the first is good and the second is dogshit.

Essentially, you're entering the territory of "Bayonetta 2 is bad because of the changes to the scoring system" levels of scrutiny that completely overshoot the average player's experience of "funny pizza man cuhrayzee.

Really depends on your definition of shitcan but there are at least a few ways you could do a PA like system without escalating action to the scale of gen 4. Also what >>22994563 said, Mechwarrior is peak "walking at relaxed pace while clicking at targets until they disappear" piloting style shitcan simulator.
>1
Have personal force fields be absolute basic standard in universe, like a byproduct of having a fuctional generator. Maybe have mecha not have much armor plating because that would limit their mobility, which, alongide versality, may be the only thing going on for them as mobile weapons platform. Just have the force field easy to both deplete and recharge, with only warship sized or bigger generators being able to keep the field up under sustained strain.
>2
Use ECM as na impromptu damage negation field, in the sense of it being able to spoof a set number of locked in munitions until it gets overwhelmed or perhaps disrupted by consecutive hits that actually connect, like shotgun pellets, splash damage from explosives or some sort of electronic counter measure to electronic counter measures.
>3
Just go the Battletech route and have the armor plating and the structural integrity be separate. You can magick up new armor plating depending on whether there are reapir stations or the mecha are pumped with nanomachine juice but the structural damage stays during mission. Now you can go and play with your walking trashbin to your heart's content so until you get blown up.

I think there's something intentionally wrong with Sulla's AI. When you look at his build it's fairly decent comparatively to all the other arena ACs and yet he's one of the easiest ones to beat. He has great defenses and stability, solid weapon selection, and is using proper boosters for his weight class and yet his AI seems to handicap him. He takes frequent pauses in combat and doesn't fire when he should, it seems silly. Also, no core expansion at all for some reason. I get you fight him stupid early but they could've just given him a weaker build or let him be the challenge he should pose. You get a resupply after him anyway and even at full power he'd still be way easier than Balteus.
>>
what’s the meta like on each platform?
here on xbox it's harris kite city and now light weights abusing basho core.

Weak af PA as default and to compensate, thick ass armor.
Or maybe even just have the default running no PA and in exchange having some module that increases the total AP or perhaps some kind of *limited* active regen. Like standing still will fill the health back up to a certain margin, incentivizing cover usage and a higher emphasis on tactics/hit and run gameplay.

second layer of defense that protects you from high firerate guns, they have to shred it or penetrate through.
>>
>>22994876
You have a separate EN bar called the KP bar which maintains your shield. Using OB or AA also depletes it, with AA also preventing it from making anymore KP for a time depending on your chosen generator. If the bar is empty, you have no shield and you're going to suddenly take like 5 billion times more damage than normal.
>>
>>22994876
>>22994889
Oh and getting shot also depletes it, obviously. How much damage the bar takes is determined by your main parts PA durability and how fast the bar fills is determined by your generator.

Fuck everyone in here who wants stagger gone. For the first time in AC history, melee is incredibly viable and strong thanks to stagger as a mechanic.

>Gen 1
Melee was your only left arm option, barely useful at all. More of an emergency option when you were low on ammo or opened a door and an MT happened to be in blade range.
>Gen 2
See Gen 1, except they also introduced energy shields here but those sucked too due to absurd EN cost.
>Gen 3/3.5
Introduced left arm guns which utterly BTFO melee for the entire gen and solid shields which only compounded the uselessness of melee.
>Gen 4
Melee is a complete meme here. You could sometimes find melee only rooms which were fun, but against anyone with even a sliver of skill and guns melee ain't gonna do shit.
>Gen 5
Melee is now wholly unused and SUPREME ELDER GOD TIER MEME TERRITORY
>Gen 6
Actually a viable contender for the first time ever thanks to stagger punish and how CQC focused the game is, but mostly due to stagger.

you don't need anything else than pcsx2, granted that you didn't fuck up the settings or got an antiquated release, use nightly with default setting, just bump up the internal resolution to 3x for 1080p and that should be good

That'd be a retarded way to do it. You can just leave the controls at default and rebind everything native in the emulator without touching the game settings, that's what I do. Saves you a step entirely when swapping between games.

>no arena
huh, I thought disc 2 had arena on it? Whats the point of the ranking tab then? In fact who the fuck designed this atrocious UI?
>>
>>22996779
well, like always the starter AC is total shit so replace the gen and booster ASAP. And learning to bunnyhop is mandatory for gen 3.5
>>
>>22996779
get a new booster, should be your first investment anyway, the feel should go away very fast
disc2 is a bunch of bonus missions based on past games, don't give money but you can get parts
>>
>>22996779
>I thought disc 2 had arena on it?
it might but i'm not gonna bother checking, like another anon said disc 2 is primarily remakes of missions from past games
disc 1 doesn't have an arena, not until after you beat the game
>Whats the point of the ranking tab then?
i dunno, to show you profiles and performance stats for all these ravens you'll never fight
it's a lot like the ranking tab in the first game in that you can completely ignore it without consequence
>>
>>22996779
There are 1v1 missions. that's basically the arena.
same shit happens in gen 5.
>>
>>22996779
you get arena missions alongside story mission depending on your ranking
you sound like you have an inability to adapt and go out of your comfort zone, granted nexus isn't the best AC game but if you just played the game you'd have figured it
>>
>>22996786
>>22996788
Well after upgrading my booster and gen I can say that the movement still feels sluggish. Its like the timing for bunnyhopping is completely different from previous games
>>22996793
>>22996799
So the "arena" is just 1v1 missions you can only repeat after you beat the game like AC2AA. well that fucking sucks
>>22996807
1v1 missions masquerading as the arena is more of a slap in the face than anything. it should be a separate activity. just calling that "the arena" is nothing but cope and no amount of sass is going to change that

The best designs in AC had the core have similar proportions to that of a tank turret, flat and wide, and everything else was an offshoot/side grade
The orbiter core suffers from this, it's too tall in AC6

I'd like it if AC7 (cause we're not gonna get 6.5) had a stockmarket ala GTA V or Cruelty Squad, taking different missions for different corpos or groups results in changing stock prices, options contracts etc, if you do too much insider trading then the SEC sends it's inhouse AC squad to rek ur shit, unless you bribe the right people.
Some other ideas
>Dividends based on not selling stock before a mission
>Being a big shareholder allows you to vote to influence what a corpo does in the story
>>I.E. Does a corpo focus on R&D or Territorial aqusiition, changing what future missions and AC parts are avalible to the player
>Debt is back by either taking out bad loans to buy stock and parts, finishing missions in the red, Calls and Puts going bad
>>
>>22997400
Nexus kept statistics on how much missions players/other Ravens did for every corp. Don't think it had much gameplay impact but it was cool seeing who favored what corps, often correlating with parts they use.
>>
>>22997400
that seems like an easy idea to implement. You could even automate it like MGSV's motherbase system with automatic stock trades above or below a certain threshold. I was debating earlier if it would be needlessly obfuscated, but the problem remaining would be making the mechanic engaging when they already cut the fat regarding progression.
>>

Could make it essential with a punishing debt system, so maybe not AC7 but say for a 7.5, could also be cool to have preferred stock that allows the player to access special missions or get access to parts early in the game, thing is this idea realistically isn't suited to a mass market (as mass market as any /m/ is) AAA game but some indie, when I lrn2code I would like to make somthing like this.

Just finished the secret level episode. What the fuck did I watch? I dont think I am deep enough into armored core, so can someone please explain?
>>
>>22998094
The characters all are original to the show. The setting and concepts are inspired mostly by AC6. Other than that it is pretty open-ended and left to interpretation. You are basically supposed to wonder what happened.
>>
>>22998094
It's loosely based on gen 6
>Keanu is from an old batch of augmented humans
>He's possibly schizo, possibly talking to aliens
>Finds more augs likehim
>Is a narcissistic prick so he kills them to feel unique
>>
>>22998107
>>22998119
I did manage to follow the plot and everything and I do understand its an original script and all. I am just confused by what the other augmented pilots wanted from keanu exactly? They say that they are just playing with him and all because they want him to join them, but then the guy at the end still wants that after he saw keanu kill the rest of his gang? It feels like the show really tried to make it personal with the whole they are just like you and fell flat. If anything I would find it more strange that just random pilots get together. I also expected the augmentation to be far more crippling, as in just straight up fusing you with your mech. Pretty good action though, thankfully it was mostly actual mech fights. Not even close to an expert, but those are just my thoughts.
>>
>>22998160
augmented pilots were likely slaves or otherwise doing this against their will. They wanted keanu to save them from whoever was augmenting and controlling them
>augmentation crippling
Severe mental issues, and having to carry around a dialysis machine isn't enough?
>>
>>22998161
I mean yeah I figured as much Its the angle that makes it weird, like the show is trying to have this gotcha moment with keanu slowly extending his finger and the pilot grabbing it with his hands only to get squished. I absolutely expected him to be permanently fused to his AC not being able to even leave the cockpit but that could just be my inner edgelord talking.
>>
>>22998176
You know, that whole idea of augmented pilots being fused to their ACs like into an iron lung is a widespread idea about AC6, too. Eventhough there are multiple pointers that augmentation surgery does most of it's damage to the brain, psychology and/or personality.
I wonder why so many people independently and unintentionally project this idea. Almost like some Mandela effect shit.
>>
>>22998221
Because fusing to the machine is cooler than turning into a schizo
>>
>>22998221
>that whole idea of augmented pilots being fused to their ACs like into an iron lung is a widespread idea about AC6, too
not really no, there's the in game sketches that show various pilots walking around, it isn't even an idea for AC at large as there where official art depicting a traditional cockpit
now it's a common headcanon simply because it's the most realistic aproach
>>
>>22998234
It's because most people have room temperature IQ and watched the trailer where 621 is taken off cryo and go "he's in bed connected to the robot, he MUST be a cripple"
>>
>>22998236
pretty sure it's just been picked up as a meme and barely anyone thing it is canon or anything
>>
>>22998236
Or it's the idea actually being appealing to many people. Like >>22998229 said.
It would fit in universe thematically and logically. Someone who needs to be in the perimeter of his war-machine or he dies. Like the AC being a cage that keeps you alive and is an extension of your being.
To clarify: I know From didn't intend this and there is evidence against this in game. I just think it's interesting so many people get the same misconception. Maybe just from not engaging with all the content, just looking at the story-trailer, or just thinking the idea is cool. But maybe there is some underlying wish from literal Otakus who project their own caged existence onto 621. Seeing him as a logical conclusion to the video game addicted, unsocialized, sad lifestyle so they can empathise.

tl;dr People who commit to the vegetable-theory reveal themselves as isolated individuals.nwrnn
>>
>>22998236
>>22998250
It's trailer + game making big emphasis on augs with all the talking about aug generations of 621, Iguazu and Vespers + not finding sketches of pilots.

I've always wondered about the weapon placement on this thing. The missile launcher is good, the shotgun is mostly good though the launcher blocks some of the field of fire. Then the two stubby miniguns are also mostly good, though again block each other's firing arcs. But then you get the two biggest autocannons stuck facing forwards, and to bring them to bear it has to point its massive weakspot at the enemy. Who designed this?

Need more parts,
more of every type of weapon,
co-op in missions,
more pvp modes like 2v2s and FFA,
more pvp lobby functionality like lobby names,
lobby descriptions,
and the option to ban certain weapons/parts
and the option to turn on friendly fire and self harm (this would nerf cheap one shot builds that spam shit like grenade launchers and plasma cannons so hard, drastically improving pvp.)
The amount of people I have to message/put on spectate or kick in my lobbies cause they're running annoying ass missile kites/boats, super heavy double zims/double earshot builds, lance + double LCR combo spammers, spin2win blade spammers, or literally any AC with terminal is fuckin ridiculous. Core theory dictates that pilots produce the best results when they're in exposed cores and directly face the danger in close quarters, hence the "weak spot" and main guns forcing the pilot(s) to put themselves in danger
