-=MELEE GROUPBUILD=-Build/paint a robot with a loadout focused on melee combat! Anything from shields to swords to lances to axes to bare fists is fair game. There's no room for ranged weaponry here, however, so anything resembling a rifle, rocket launcher, cannon, pistol, or any other ranged weapon is a no-go (Small ranged weapons that are built into the kit itself like head vulcans are ok, however).More clarification here:>If the body part has a built-in ranged weapon (head/chest vulcans, claw beams, etc), then that's fine. Let's see what you're working on!
Haven't had much time to paint lately due to the weather and being sick last week, but I found the time to put together these knights. Still undecided how I want to paint them up but I'm kinda leaning towards a purple with gold trim look to em.
>>23069211Water slide decals on my Daban PGU G-3.It's starting to look like construction equipment with all of this yellow.
>>23069243groupbulge dude, you doing anything for the group build?
>>23069255Honestly not sure, might just try to rework that Demon Prince Lazengann I had planed for Nightmare into a Melee build since was planning on giving it some kind of sword/axe anyways.
>>23069265I thought we weren't allowed to use old builds. This changes things
>>23069211Hey that's mine! I also finished it.
>>23069210So.. do you panel line the belly button? How does this work.
>>23069274I mean if you never finished the entry for the previous build there's nothing stopping you from using it in the current one. Obviously you can't say "Hey my build counts for the next 3 themes because it happens to be on theme for all three"
>>23069211Decided on a zaku as my first project. I wanted to get it all built before cleaning the nubs. Is there any special method to getting them to look nice and flat and smooth after sanding? And how do I tighten up joints? The wrist pieces and shield shoulder feel pretty loose
>>23069211Got a little more done on this jim, my first painted kit. I need to finish up the head and the accent panel on the shield, and I was thinking of brushing some gray bracing on the back of the shield too, and then I can clear/panel line it. I'm not sure if I feel like buying decals for this specifically so it might just get some extras for something else down the road. It's not perfect, but I think I learned a lot.
Extremely dumb questions but I live in a small apartment and I want to paint. I have some ideas for a small booth setup by a window but priming seems like it'd be easier/better just coming out of a rattle can. Will a cheap booth be able to deal with lacquer primer? Could I get away with spraying the primer in my bathroom with fans and a box setup? Would lacquer fumes be an issue for the central exhaust fan in the bathroom i.e. going into other apartments and getting me evicted?
>>23069424I did all my spraying in the balcony. It was only with cans though. I still made a box so wind didn't fuck up everything.
>>23069427No balcony unfortunately, and I'm in a pretty metro area so going outside to prime isn't really in the cards.
What's a good chisel size for HGs?
>>23069381>Is there any special method to getting them to look nice and flat and smooth after sanding?Melamine sponge or fingernail buffer>And how do I tighten up joints?Topcoat or glue. Something to give the joints more thickness.
>>23069431Spraying seems to be out of the question for your case because of fumes. You could do painting with a brush/sponge. I've only ever painted small surfaces with a brush not full panels.I have access to an industrial paint booth at work, but that's not really an option for most people.
>there's a Chinese third party options parts package to turn RG 00 Qan[T] into Full Saber>the combined cost is more expensive than just buying the thing from P-Bandai
>>23069211Muzzle went flying during my snapshid... Well good thing I need to scribe, pla plate ,and prime it. Gives me time to find it or order a replacement part.
>>23069424Shouldn't your bathroom's exhaust fans blow the air outside where it won't circulate back into a different apartment? Pretty sure those vents should be one-way, otherwise taking a shit would somehow stink up your neighbors. If space is an issue, you can try to make your setup portable. So long as you have a window that you can crack open and stick a hose outside, you should be fine. Airbrushing doesn't take up a lot of space except for spreading out the parts while drying and keeping dust from settling on them as they dry. You just need a chair, and a table that can hold your spray booth, compressor and cleaning pot. If a window isn't available, there are bucket setups you can use (do your research on that). You don't want to cheap out on the spray booth though, extricating the fumes out of the place that you live, play, eat and sleep in is very very important. For priming, it is cheaper in the long run to airbrush it. For instance, Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 can be mixed with Leveling Thinner in the exact same way as paints.
Are they ever going to make an RG GM?
>>23069531Io was the good guy, Daryl turned out to be a mindless mary sue bitch.
>>23069531No, lolIf bandai-sama hasn't done so in the past decade+ what makes you think they would now
>>23069531why the hell would they?
>>23069531Doubtful cause RG Zaku was there to pair with RG Gundam but then again Bandai released RG Z'Gok when barely anybody likes it.
>group build unintentionally has the letter H on the chest in a somewhat subtle waywhat a coincidence, the name I'm giving it starts with the letter H sort of
First 30MM kit, without accessories the articulation is crazy
How are AGE kits?
>>23069348Anon, this is out of box body, no panel lining yet. If you want to add shadows to skin parts, it is recommended to either use acrylic flesh-colored washes (same as miniature painters use, like GW's "fleshsade"), dilluted brown panel liner or straight up colored pencil, gently wiped with cotton tip (reccomended applying matte layer first like varnish).
>>23069348Hope this helps anonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahpSaH1SYWM&list=WL&index=12
I've been scribbling new panel lines lately, but a flu or something is trying to smash me to my bed for past few days, so taking a break. Been thinking about buying Psycho Gundam. Would you recommend it to me anons?
>>23069348you don't want hard panel lines, you highlight recesses with blush tones (dollar store makeup)
>>23069537>>23069552rg rx 2.0 means they can literally make an rg gm super easy
>>23069424why the FUCK would you spray into your shitty bathroom fan if/when you already have a sprayboothjust use the fucking booth?????? wear a respirator as well if you're worried about fumes while spraying
>>23069446.15 or .2mm
>>23069584But that's what the issue is, it's so close to the RX-78 that they'd probably just make more money printing more Grandpa 2.0 RGs.
>>23069581The Psycho Gundam MKII is coming out in April this year, maybe you should wait for some reviews to see if its any better than the 1st one
>>23069620There isn't really anyway it could possibly be worse given how old the mk1 is. Not that the old suit is bad, but it's definitely lacking refinements made in the time since it's original release.
>>23069574AGEd pretty well. Surprisingly good quality.
>>23069574Aside from the MGs having kind of janky shoulders to account for the parts swapping gimmick, the HGs and MGs are both pretty solid lines.
>>23069620how am I supposed to paint the legs they're bigger than a whole Zeta
>>23069584Bandai will still have to waste resources to print them, which i doubt they would nowadays.
just snapped together an HG GQuuuuuux, where should I fit it in around my goonstation?

>>23069675I'm sad to know that Frame Arms is gone now, forever replaced by FAG and now Forme Arms. I really liked the shared frame that is used either similarly or in different ways depending on the FA. Plus they had great designs too.
>>23069717Do you think Kotobukiya is already planning Forme Arms Girls?
>>23069717Not yet. They announced new FA in development last year, designed by Kawamori as well.
>>23069751Oh look, it's Macross!
from testing it seems that using GX100 clear coat on handpainted acrylics should be fine if i let it dry sufficiently
I cant get my hands on tamiya ts-80. What alternatives can I get for a matte finish?
>>23069779>What alternatives can I get for a matte finish?sandpaper
>>23069779High gloss is superior anyway.
>>23069620I know, just wanted to buy both of them and make some kind of cool fighting arena.
>>23069779mr color gx114
>>23069779>he still uses tamiyaOofu. Just use Mr Hobby, much better ones. GX line for clear stuff.
>>23069211casting a custom face part with UV resin.
>>23069799What's wrong with Tamiya?
This laddie (KMR Cloud Ghost Hi Nu) appeared on aliexpress but I'm seeing it go for like three times the price it was supposed to be (148 CNY). Obviously I didn't expect it to cost just that but with other bootlegs it seems to only be like 40% increase at most, typically more like 20% I think. What gives? Is it just the first sellers going for scalping or should I throw in the towel and buy from taobao or something? I saw it there and it was much closer to the original price. Even with shipping and whatever else agents ask for, it's gonna be cheaper than that.
I used to be addicted to box forting, but now I can't stop buying hobby tools.
>>23069825Definitely scalping
>>23069834i am thinking of buying the dspiae 30$ nippers, while i already have two good ones (ruitools and hobby mio)there is no reason to get the dspiae but i still kinda want to try them
>>23069799What's the mr hobby equivalent? Super clear matte?
>>23069835that's reassuring, I found it on mofiho too and it's much more reasonably priced there. Gonna wait a while till more sellers pop up and see how it is then.
>>23069838Here are some fun facts:The ST-A3.0 and ST-X are identical, the later one is literally the same nipper but rebranded to sell to gweilos. If you stumble across this MJL M1712 nipper, it is also literally the same nipper, made from the same factory but with the brand of another company (this one is actually cheaper).
>>23069779XF 86 is a pretty good alternate.
>>23069858Uhhh is there one that comes in a spray can?
>>23068835 #they're currently the "pinnacle" of Bandai's engineering, but they have issues, like C-clips on knees that wears out fast, limited articulation on Aerial's legs (ankles cant rotate longitudinally for some reason) and Grassley suits's pathetic elbow joints.
>>23069620they really waited for the price hike before releasing it eh?
>>23069865For some reason, Bandai uses really soft PS for the joints. C Clip or not, they wear out really fast. Gwitch HGs are slightly better than IBO era, but they end up as the same level of dogshitness after a month.
>>23069865>>23069875really? I only heard good things about them, never heard anything about them becoming super loose with time
third paty ESL Qan[T] kit incoming
finally received one of my old orders from before i figured out which bootleg manufacturers are good or notWarModels Half-cannon ZakuHope I got lucky on the QC roulette, at least want the cool little guns to be good.
>>23069917but there's already MG ESL Qant years ago
>>23069917your post was like a nostalgia flashbang, that slightly janky silhouette screams "late-2000s high effort flash game"
>>23069925la creaturael abominacionil rostro de la muertela luz extinguidad
>>23069917>chineseof course it's going to be ESL kek
>>23069875PS wearing out super fast is just how it is. It's not nearly as durable as the older ABS bandai used to use. C clips will always be a retarded choice for major joints no matter though.
>>23069898Because most of those "reviewers" judge a kit when they are OOB and the degradation has kicked in yet. Arguably, it happens to every plamo, but Gwitch and IBO kits have a really short lifespan. An actual good kit can last for 1 or 2 years until finally shitting the bed, Gwitch kits last about 1 month.
>>23069935wait does this mean abs chinkshit kits will suffer from joint wear less than the official kits
I've had my RG Astray Red for 7 fucking years and it still holds a wide-legged standing pose w/knees bent like a champ
>>23069938Not necessarily. Even within the same type of plastic there is gonna be some that are better and some that are worse.
USAGS... my orders... please...
>>23069938It depends on what properties they mix in as well. Chinese kits use really soft ABS and they degrade much worse than Bandai kits.
>>23069945sorry CHUD we need to sell on ebay first
>>23069925La criatura engendro ciclópeo nadie
>>23069935Gwitch is just exceptionally terrible on that part. Bandai's bigger HG kits seem to be better most of the time. My Dygenguar kit is still very solid and it's been several months since the assembly. Their usage of PS is the explanation to their affordable price, because PS is generally cheaper than ABS and considered to be terrible on engineering aspect.

Finally finished up the first kit I've done beyond snapping together. Overall, it was a very fun experience. Looking at the picture, I'm already seeing what I can improve on. The next one I do I plan on scribing the lines and gluing together the seams. Painting it was a very fun experience all on it's own.
>>23070008Nice tasteful weathering, but it looks like somebody dunked it in oil. Did you gloss coat it or something?
>>23070010Yeah, I just bought Mr. Super Clear without knowing that top coat came in matte and gloss coats, but I've corrected that and bought some matte for the next one I work on.
>bought $50 Godhands >still leaves the tiniest nub that I still have to sand/knife awayBros?
>>23070017It's your cut technique that's the problem.
How feasible it is to simply sharpen the blade on cheaper nippers to the level near godhands?
>>23070017genuinely a skill issue
>>23070024it's not impossible to sharpen blades by hand, people have been doing that for centuries. The difficult part and why expensive nippers are expensive is aligning the two cutting edges so they line up perfectly, it's done using grinders that are precise up to +/- 5 microns.Maybe it's feasible on single-sided nippers.
>>23070017What did you expect? Did you also want them to paint your kit and upload the pics to reddit?
>>23070040she's literally me
imagine if instead of wasting millions on the AI meme Chang just made a search engine worth a fuckI HATE ALIEXPRESS AND I HATE YOU CHANG
>>23070024tl;dr you probably can, depending on the carbon content of the steel, but it's not worth it and they won't perform well for long.I'm a steel and knife autist. You can get them to some level of sharp but god hands are made of a harder, more unyielding higher carbon steel so the edge does not bend and they hold and edge very well. To that end. That's why when they fail they tend to shatter or break instead of bend. It's also why they need a pin in them to keep you from closing them too hard. Most nippers are made of much softer, easier to shape steel and that's why they dull. When you create a very fine edge with steel like that it tends to bend and roll. You'd need to near constantly maintain them to keep that hypothetical edge. Generally, softer steel is a lot more forgiving to imperfect usage too.I also do personally sharpen a set of double cuts for my first cuts so I have a lot of experience with this. They need touched up every few kits and it takes about 15 minutes to do. They can't get as sharp as my god hands either but they still get pretty sharp.>>23070035It's also requires more specialized tooling and it's a lot more time consuming to machine harder steel without ruining the heat treatment.
>>23070019>>23070033>>23070017>tfw my chinko knockoff godhands came with diagram showing how they actually work and I'd been using my other knockoffs wrong for a whole year Actual game changer
>>23070035>>23070051That was educational. Thanks.
>>23070054ok now I'm curious post the diagram
>>23070024These thin nipper blades are done by machine if I recall correctly. Sharpening them yourself is not an easy task.
>>23070064It would be a lot easier if it wasn't impossible to take them apart.
>>23070060I'm not home, but I'm pretty sure this bus a copy of it

>>23068109it's literally just a rebranded calligraphy dip pen that they've marked up (as hobby brands often do). you can get the same thing for a dollar.it won't scratch paint, you just tap it in the recess and let capillary action do its thing. same as you would with your brush.i tried one years ago, you still get overspill that needs to be wiped off (though less of it) and sometimes all the fluid would spill out at once (that one might be a personal skill issue, but it would be disastrous on bare plastic)>>23068392barbatos rex is that you>>23068430i'm doing my daccas in sms hyperspace and you can't stop me. i impulse bought it 2 years ago and if i don't use it now i probably never will. i haven't tested it yet but the flakes only look marginally larger than alclad and nowhere near as big as say tamiya or turbodork.>rough finishare you used to levelling thinner? sms doesn't have any retarder in it, it dries even faster than the primer i thinned with hardware store thinner. you have to drop the psi to like 12 (the instructions on the bottle say 12-15) and get in closer to the model to compensate for the drying speed or you end up with that rough finish. i usually just squirt a bit of mr levelling thinner into their normal colours to make it easier to work with but i'm not sure if that would negatively affect the finish of pearls/metallics or not
>>23070008it's not too late matte coat the dog
>>23069653Why do you have so many Lunamaria
>>23069424chinky booths only have ~180cfm fans, nowhere near enough for rattlecans. they're fine for airbrushing at <20psi with a 0.4/0.3 nozzle but they can't cope with high psi or large nozzles (rattlecans have both).just get a fold-away booth and table if you have nowhere you can leave one permanently, a folded up booth is about toolbox-sized and a table folds up flat so you could stash it in the gap between some furniture and a wall or something.if you want to use rattlecans go outside.>>23069779i've been liking sunin7 ex04 matte. 60ml bottle and thins out even more than mr gx clears (i eyeball my thinner but the bottle says 1:3-1:4, i think i do closer to 1:4). sunin's colours and ex03 gloss clear tend to pool in my experience (possibly just a skill issue but i've never had pooling issues with other lacquers) so i don't recommend them in general but their surfacers and the ex04 matte clear go on great.i used the sunin ex04 on the beige parts of pic related.purple and red bits have a different finish, for those i used the last of my sms matte clear which kinda sucks and needs a few coats to not look satin.
>>23070078That too. A lotta factors. I'm not complaining. I basically got a kit for free with that sale they had.
>>23070117oh i missed this >>23069859. never mind, i've never used a rattlecan varnish
>>23070088I mixed in some leveling thinner (premixed sms thinner with 10% mr retarder), tried low psi (12-15), and high psi (~20, then to 25), and I still got the same result. I also forgot to mention it would clog as well. your milage may vary, I would just try it out anyway.

>>23069922IIRC some gun barrels need to be drilled. I actually want one of these but I'm hoping they can come in classic zaku green sometime in the future.
>>23070173You overrestimate the GM hype. It doesn't have the same popularity Zaku has, which turned it from an animation exclusive enemy into actual toys and kits. Classic GM totally got overshadowed by Zaku, which is why RG Zaku exists but RG GM isn't.

>>23070283"just build them like gunplas" doesn't tell us anything anon. that could mean anything from lazily snapshitting to scribing and modifications and all that stuff.most girpla have a lot of seams that need welding, are mostly abs so you have to be more careful painting, and koto tolerances can be really tight in places so you'll want to lightly test fit joint and peg parts before snapping them all the way. a lot of the joints in girlplas are thinner than the ones in gunpla and are more prone to breaking so you'll want to sand any that are too tight, and if you intend on disassembling it to paint you'll want to make sure the snapfit connections aren't so tight that you can't get them apart (snipping the wall of the female connection point is usually enough, or you could do the 45 degree peg cut, or just sand)
Anyone here paint the MG Narrative Gundam Ver.Ka? I haven't seen anyone panel line the psychoframe and I was wondering if anyone here has.

>>23070308if you don't paint you might want to look into making sprue goo for welding the seams, there's big seams down most of the limbs. i never had much luck with sprue goo personally and always still ended up with visible discoloration just the same as when i weld normally, but some of the people over at >>>/toy/busou manage to make the seams almost invisible on unpainted kits with it

Hi all, question for anyone with an RG Epyon.I recently decided to get one. For some reason, I think a Gundam looks incomplete without a firearm in hand, so I figured I'd give it one of my spares.Does its hand scale about the same as an HG or is it larger?Could it hold a standard, triggerless HG rifle or would a Kotobukiya rifle fit better?I'm not opposed to some potential modding, but just curious for now.Anyone who knows, thanks in advance
>>23070517The epyon was explicitly designed for chivalrous melee combat.
>>23070517>stares judgementally
>>23070517it was 17.4m tall and the model's hands don't look particularly chunky so it stands to reason it should be able to wield most standard HG-size weapons
>>23070521>>23070520I knew I was forgetting something when I didn't write "inb4 Epyon can't into guns" or something.
>>23070517get him a crossbow
>>23070517Yeah, I think the hands should be quite similiar, but you may need to pad the handle with some plaplate possibly as the hand is not perfectly square
>>23070511Casval's Gundam is just a regular RX-78 painted red. The GQuuuuuuX and the White/Red Gundam are new designs entirely.
>>23070525I was actually seriously considering giving it a spare Fedayeen rifle I had but couldn't find it after moving.>>23070523That's a fair ascertainment.
>>23070524To be even more specific, there's one scene that shows it firing vulcans. These were added by Zechs and weren't part of the original mobile suit as designed by Treize.
>>23070526Good catch.I might try several spares and pick one that's the closest fit and then go from there. Or just pick the one that suits the look of Epyon the best and put in whatever work is needed. I keep coming back to the Kotobukiya Twin Link Magnum for the general look.>>23070532Yeah, gonna have to side with Zechs on this one.

bootlegouf main body assembly done (manufacturer is STAR, sold as "White Tiger")the only real issues so far:>head is loose (joint tighten later)>right forearm outer armor is loose, had to glue it in place>right wrist is loose (joint tighten later)>the pipe clamps were very fucking tight and required some sanding to fit>the shoulder armor spikes wouldn't seat completely so i shortened the pegs a bit and glued them in place>polycaps have some flashing here and there>front shins pop off kinda easily but I think this might be an issue with the real kit itselfit comes with sheets of waterslides for detailing and two runners of a "flight pack" in grey and black that you're supposed to mix for color separation
>>23070714Mine flight gouf from them had some flawed molding on a few parts (jagged edges on the round part of the forearm armor, stuff like that), but on the other hand no pegs needed sanding and everything stays together pretty great. Honestly the only real problem with bootlegs at this point is lack of quality control.
>>23070728some of them (warmodels) still have pretty shitty detail recasting (g-line)
>>23070730true, I was mostly talking about the "better quality" ones (xfs, jms, star). Others seem to be worse, but not as bad as gaogao. Then there's EW/AK that might as well be a bandai kit from my experience.
>>23070733speaking of jms, i just got their mkII gundam delivered, so i'm looking forward to that. not sure if I should do one of my several GM Spartans or do that mkii first after this gouf (I don't plan to paint the gouf)

>>23070839yes if they are neodymium magnets
>>23070829We can't match him.
>>23070839Easily. If the magnet is half decent to begin with a little bit of plastic won't be enough to be a problem. Usually still better to drill out a hole and set it inside though. It's easier and won't be visible anyway.
>>23070852>drill out a hole and set it insideI'm talking about doing that but then covering up the hole so you can't see it when the part isn't attachedthinking about mounting some thigh missile pods on the seed gelgoog
>>23070767i don't know if i'm just a shitter and this is typical of bootlegs, but my jms mkii (the pb color variant) is an absolute piece of shitjust about every joint is loose and a significant amount of parts didn't fit properly without sandingone of the beam saber hilts refused to fit into the backpack no matter what i did
is the sazabi ver ka worth the $106 plus shipping price tag? ive had my eye on it but im unsure if i want to shell out ~120 for iton that note are there any sales expected soon on any website? i missed the mlk sale on USAGS, is expecting a valentines day sale unrealistic?
>>23070877They've been popping up at hobby lobbies for the last few months. You could grab on there during the 40% off sale, possibly. They also pop up on ebay auctions pretty often so you might get a cheaper one that way.
>>23070863how old is it (when did you buy the kit)
>>23070877It's a good kit but I don't think I'd pay 120 bucks for it. Also the beam effect parts are ass. Slapping together second hand parts from the sinanju is a poor substitute for a proper beam sword. Should have recycled the older MG's effect part if they couldn't be assed to make a new one.
>>23070886>>23070863i ask this because i've heard similar complaints about their GM Spartan and even their Schwarzette, but I've noticed that tthose complaints were always when the bootleg is newso I think it might be something to do with JMS figuring out how to get it right as the printing run starts up

>>23069576another way is to apply lighter skin tone first, then the darker one, then carefully "sand" away the darker tone with a fine sandng sponge until it reveals the lighter skin underneath. sort of similar principle to Sinanju's reverse washing of gold trims.

am i allowed to buy bootlegs if i'm white? i'm kind of curious to see how daban kits are and if the quality difference is actually significant or if it's more along the lines of bandaibabies having the same reaction as they do to kotobukiya and others.
>>23071159OId daban is real shit, new daban is alright. You're better off buying new bootlegs like the XFS Spartan because they have their shit together

>>23071173no bandai is the reason for that.
>>23071176how did you lose it, it's on the same runner as the rest of the minigun

Has anyone tried a reverse wash before? How did it turn out? Any tips?
>>23071460These swords were done with reverse wash because I fucked up the masking the first time and had to strip them down. A gloss coat prior to laying down the enamel coat can help, but if you rub too hard you can accidentally strip the top coat as well (the silver lining being that it's better to accidentally strip the top coat than to damage the paint underneath it). Just make damn sure that you did the top coat right because any dark paint can seep into small imperfections and really stand out if the base coat is a light color.

The narrative version also just comes with all the old parts too in the new colors should you wanna use them. I don't have a nu gundam or sazabi so I can't say how it compares.

>>23072264It looks like the only fluorescent paint in my local hobby shop is testor's enamel. Anyone itt have experience with those? If I have to order it online then I'll have to deal with paying for shipping
Also if you're planning to mess with fluorescent paints make sure you get a proper 365nm blacklight, they don't turn everything pruple
>>23072350goddamn it, I bought one that makes everything purple ages ago and thought I would have to do some lighting tricks or photoshop to fix that shit, guess I'll go spend another HG kit's worth for another black light
By the way, using green stuff copies for safely testing out ideas is quite nice. Only problem I see is how I had to use CA glue (I HATE CA glue). In retrospection, I should get even thinner PS sheet for this - thinnest I have is 0.25mm but even at this point it experienced problems with bending. Don't have heatgun so can't play with bending.
>>23072369Get CA glue with a brush on the cap. That brush is an MVP honestly, it's way better than a toothpick or a disposable nozzle

What are some good HGs that have full spare parts? I got a Blue Destiny Unit 1 and found it had a full on spare head. It got me wondering.
>>23072393honestly you just gotta take a trawl through dalong for that one. >MG Sinanju Stein Narrative Ver. Ka at Hobby Lobby>it's a hundred fucking dollars for some reason, before the discountIs this kit really worth the sixty dollars? They've made this thing at least three times already (original 2008 Sinanju Ver. Ka, 2013 Sinanju Stein Ver. Ka and 2019 Sinanju Stein Narrative Ver.), plus Narrative wasn't the most popular even at the time (moreso given how much everyone hated Zoltan). I guess it comes with a bunch of weapons and goodies, but for a kit that doesn't include any transformation or flashy body details, that price seems a bit high.
>>23072614cant believe you'd forget all about me after we did THAT together
>>23072648It's the best version of sinanju and it's worth 60 bucks, but in your exact scenario I would not get it. It's incredibly similar to the older narrative version. The minor differences are that the verniers are gray on the new one, the backpack has the colors mixed up. It also has new hands and the weapons are changed to accomodate the new hands. The big difference is that the chest, sleeves and shield have color separated ornamentation on them instead of stickers.tl;dr It's better than the older steins, get it if you're a huge sinanju nerd who doesn't care about money. Don't get it if you aren't.
>>23072643If you flip the balljoints inside, these things will go out. They are gripping hands, you equip them with other Hexagear melee weapons, as long as the scale fits them.

>>23072670
>>23072654The only Sinanju I have is the red 2013 OVA one. I never really considered getting the Stein, but since I do have Narrative-C and Phenex Narrative, it could be nice to add to the collection. And after looking at Dalong, it seems to come with a shitload of extra parts from the previous versions (again, they've remade this thing at least three times by now, so that's hardly surprising), which could become interesting kitbash fodder.I guess I'll add it to the "nice to have if the opportunity comes up" list. The box castle hungers, but I really do need to learn to resist the call occasionally.

I fucking hate it when local retailers just inflate the price due to the public perception of a release rather than its objective value. Fucking selling the product based on emotion.

>>23072802Mostly just gluing or pinning the full cloth itself. Aside from that it's just the standard 2.0 style hand issues with large weapons.
>>23072798It is a well known fact from the Japanese side of IBO faggotry. Due to the lack of the kid's last name, the writer during an IBO event said it is " Augus Mixtra Berstein ", labeling Kudelia as the father and it is a yuri ending because apparently, fag marriage is legal in IBO.
>>23072813That's pretty cool. I might just preorder it and wait. A narrative with a green psycho frame would be awesome.
>>23072815>random ass comments are proof of anything>the kid having his mother's hair means he has no relation to his fatherWow, you sure showed me.
>>23072803>24 bucks weapon set>30 bucks normal sized HGs>these aren't even scalped prices
>>23072817I'm not saying Kudelia somehow grew a dick and impregnated Atra. It is Mika's son. It is just the ending intentionally made them get married just for the sake of fag shit. And it is not something inordinary to be honest, Gundam has always been faggy as fuck.
>>23072820The RG weapon set is also 1/144 scaled as well. Charging 24 bucks for it seems unreasonable.
>>23072820>this is worth 24 bucksI haven't looked at the kit because RGs are not my thing, but have we really reached the point where they aren't even including the bazooka in the base kit anymore or is this just a second one?

>>23072828No the kit has it. That's the second one. But, 24 for these things seem overpriced. The action base looks cheap and most of them don't have that much color separation and engineering.
>>23072838The cost is probably mostly for the new hammer. The new one is crazy good.
>>23072836Why not just scratchbuild everything instead of buying a kit?
>>23072846Posable wire has been a thing for a long time now. It doesn't justify its status as Pbandai, they could have just included these things in the box because the kit is so fucking small already.
>>23072803I do love the Desultor though, I wanna give it every weapon I have

Bandai should stop trying to make plamo DLC a thing and just increase the price of their shit. Most of plamo collectors are adults, they will manage.

>>23072868It is a premade articulated part, not that much different from the copper wire in term of function since they were made to be stiff and posable. If you look closer, the chain doesn't really look like a chain, but rather a bunch of plastic pieces pressed together.

>>23072899The entire right arm is a gatling. When it is ready to fire, the hand part will be slided down.

>>23072882Naw, I already have a knit cap that my sister made for me.
>>23072920The deployment is not accurate to the anime and the HG doesn't have 2 open hands.
>>23072911That's not how it works at all. The arm doesn't slide down, the top hatch opens up. That's a cut away view to show the inner mechanics(with a human for scale), not showing how it opens.
>>23072934>The arm doesn't slide down, the top hatch opens upNo, even in the animation, the arm got slide down. Majority of Alex kits dismissed this because it looks so weird.

why do people who do gunpla all have the most beat to shit ugly shelves possible
>>23073043Gunsams are the easiest, cheapest models in the hobby world so naturally it attracts the poorest, laziest people
How come on other websites like on HLJ or USAGS where you can pre-order this it has a watermark explaining it's a CGI render but on P-Bandai they don't tell you that?
>>23073043Even for pretty looking shelves, gunpla generally don't look that good aside from some exceptions. The mass collecting nature of the hobby is also a part of the problem, they buy every new releases, from monoeye slop to flavour of the month ms to the point it is impossible to make a good looking diorama, just shoving all of the kits to the shelf in their neutral static pose because there are so goddamn many of them.
