I missed the last thread, but for the anons asking about party room costs/tipping:The etiquette for room parties is to give a 'tip' or 'donation' to the people running it for each drink. Usually about $5 per drink to help cover the cost of the alcohol and the hotel suite. This is much cheaper than getting a drink at a bar and they can make themed cocktails and offer food for the money. It's more of a 'chip in' than a 'tip for service'. Obviously you can give more if you had a great time and to 'buy a round' for other anons who have less money. Running those party rooms is a lot of work, and they often lose money. It's a passion/hobbyist thing and the money is to cover costs only.If you don't have money, no one is going to kick you out, it's a party and the vibes are positive. You can say 'I don't have any money can I just have a shot of vodka or something' you can probably get a drink or someone to tip for you.The $20 donation is for a specific Mareperitif event that requires a $20 donation for charity. It is during the day, has fewer people, fancier drinks, horse d'oeuvres, etc. Honestly $20 for multiple cocktails and food is a really good deal still. Mare Fair is all about value.
