Still debating over whether or not to volunteer. I want to see and do everything, but I don’t know how best to budget my time. Should I wait until the official schedule drops, or will applications be closed by then? Can you split time between mornings and evenings or divide hours unevenly over different days? Does Thursday count?

I worked registration last year and Thursday counted towards work hours because you can work during pre-reg. I can't really speak as to what they are doing this year though. You can always apply and have an interview and ask your interviewer questions and then decide if you want to do it.

I missed the last thread, but for the anons asking about party room costs/tipping:The etiquette for room parties is to give a 'tip' or 'donation' to the people running it for each drink. Usually about $5 per drink to help cover the cost of the alcohol and the hotel suite. This is much cheaper than getting a drink at a bar and they can make themed cocktails and offer food for the money. It's more of a 'chip in' than a 'tip for service'. Obviously you can give more if you had a great time and to 'buy a round' for other anons who have less money. Running those party rooms is a lot of work, and they often lose money. It's a passion/hobbyist thing and the money is to cover costs only.If you don't have money, no one is going to kick you out, it's a party and the vibes are positive. You can say 'I don't have any money can I just have a shot of vodka or something' you can probably get a drink or someone to tip for you. The $20 donation is for a specific Mareperitif event that requires a $20 donation for charity. It is during the day, has fewer people, fancier drinks, horse d'oeuvres, etc. Honestly $20 for multiple cocktails and food is a really good deal still. Mare Fair is all about value.
