People had been bitching about how much the midwest sucks and they hate it here in song long before emo and rust came around.

It's a region that breeds special kinds of mental illness. They may think German culture was killed off in World War I but their crippling autism lives on strong to this day
>>
The Midwest is a harsh place to live in. You figure Ed Gein and Jeffery Dahmer could only have come out of such a place.

>extreme heat and cold over the year
>vast expanses of featureless ugly flat terrain
>literally nothing to do unless you're into outdoor activities

Wait does that lady have a Star of David on...fuck this, I'm outta here.

Please go on. We German Midwestern autists (I am unironically all of these) who are in here dont see it from the outside.

The mosquitoes are pretty bad here too, I think. I heard Europe doesn't really even have them (in some places?).

I think that is because she was a Jewish woman.

It's something that took me year of visits to understand honestly. You look, think, act, speak, etc. different from people in other regions. There's this neuroticism that makes people go through hoops to arrive at bizarre non-logical conclusions which makes zero sense to anyone uninvolved and barely any sense to those who are. The huge presence of furries also suggests that my (semi) gag post is serious, and it's the Germantism coming out. That Guy with the Glasses was a perfect microcosm of your people, best represented in Linkara and Cinema Snob. Two weeks ago I met a guy who had just moved from Michigan but I could tell his general background just by demeanor alone

Oh and being really far from the ocean probably is doing something too. I've seen Canadians who behave similarly

Bob Dylan was from the mid west too

And this dude. Yes, once again it's Wisconsin.

We're talking about folk music from before music could be recorded. It is all like that. People weren't copyrighting tunes and making millions of dollars off them in those days.
This more modern rendition of the song is quite different from that banjo shit, anyway.

We have a regional music that is our own (talking mainly about white people here). It is midwest emo. Black people made techno and the Motown sound. American Indians have their own shit. Finnish reggae is a small thing in the U.P. It is semi-pagan and tends to invoke a God-like figure called Heikki Lunta who makes it snow.

I haven't really been out of here much.

Doesn't everyone?

I relate to the neuroticism being common. I have a lot of hoarding and abuse in my family. We are far from the ocean but I've been to a couple of the great lakes, and the gulf of Mexico. The lakes were important for the development of shipping and have a route to the Atlantic but maybe the isolation from the east coast has something to do with why we are peculiar, although I have little understanding of the ways in which we are peculiar. I think furries are related via autistic bestial nature and sexual deviance to ancient totem cults
like the berserkers who LARPed as bears but I'm not involved with the furries and I dont see them around, so I guess you are a furry.

I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. >>122928345
I dont think things like sadism, psychosis, and childhood trauma leading to harmful action is a regional thing. You would probably act out if your mother was borderline or whatever too. Maybe mistreatment of children is worse here though. That could be true.

I'm of Germ ancestry but I'm from Pennsylvania so don't ask me. Never been to the Midwest.

California and Florida have the most serial killers per capita so...meh.

>>122928443
It's just a theory. A germ theory.

When it comes to California, I think it may largely have to do with the people who are attracted to go west and particularly to Hollywood. Normal, settled people aren't drawn to that as much as strange people who want adventure, escape, expression, fame, or attention.

Maybe with Florida it has to do with the dangerous, Australia-like environment. Although with Australia, it was settled by prisoners and what not. I don't know who lives in Florida or the history of the place.
