>>127651775I’m just too used to where the volume knob is on a Strat and flipping the Tele plate gets the volume knob closer, and sometimes I strum like a caveman and chop the selector switch into the bridge position so flipping it remedies both for me (I could learn to just not strum too aggressively when digging into playing (I won’t))

Not sure if I want to try to recreate the power trio vibe of the original Band of Gypsies recording, or do a full accompaniment with keyboard and and saxophone, with djembe hand drum and dual floor castanets.

Kyser uses high pressure and really hard rubber which I find causes the strings to go sharp so you have to retune anytime you use itThat one is called the Shubb Standard Capo. The rubber is really soft and it's supposed to mimic the pressure of a human finger and it's adjustable so you can increase or decrease the pressure by turning a wheel. I don't have access to equipment with different pickup configs and youtube videos are unreliable, so here I am asking for an opinionI've played a jazzmaster and the P90s were pretty good for giving me a clear sound with some crunch for a lead. I like Humbuckers because you get a good roar that really hits that hard rock sound without getting lost in bass or fuzz. How would this sound: Neck: P90Bridge: Hum
>>127659400is that where you like the sound of the pickups? having the pickup at the neck will make them a lot warmer and having them at the bridge will add a bunch of mids and some compression
The amount of butthurt in /gg/ caused by a half dozen posters with offset guitars will never not be funny to me. They talk among themselves about their fancy little quirky guitars and the rest of the thread gets so bootyblasted over their guitars. It’s hilarious.
>>127659400It's my favorite config though not a true p90 and the qm2 is ass
>>127659400If you love the neck pickup and the bridge is too harsh, then swapping it with a humbucker is a good choice. You might want to put 500k pots in it too.
>>127659425I'm doing some guesswork as there's only one shop close by that has electric guitars and their hardware variety (to say, pickup configs) are limited. I'm new to getting into the actual guts of guitars. My hope was the I'd get the clarity of the P90 at the neck with the growling hum at the bridge. But maybe it would be wilder to swap them and put the P90 at the bridge and the hum at the neck?
>>127659000Also would like to know this.I'm still on his beginner stuff but want to know If I should continue
>>127659465I think I've seen that P90 online; it's a phatcat right? How does that compare to a typical p90
>>127659562wilder may not always be better. jazz is a good place to hear a humbucker in the neck with tone rolled off. ok if you want a jazz tone but i prefer single coils in the neck, so that's where i'd put the p90. honestly im not big on bridge pickups at all unless its a bass
>>127659000If Justin worked for you, then go back to his lessons>>127659585If you feel like you aren't progressing, try someone else and then go back to Justin.
>>127659597Its a Gibson P94R. It's very close to a standard p90 but just doesn't feel as "aggressive" if that makes sense, which was perfect for what I was using it for at the time. >>127651701God damn.
>>127659621Good point. I like listening to some jazz here and there but it's not what I like to play. Thanks for the advice all.
>>127659628I feel like I'm progressing when I do his stuff but I have been going out of it and doing my own stuff so some of his lessons aren't necessary for me.
>>127651723There is something just so aesthetic about ashtrays on a guitar.
>>127651723Wouldn't your stings hit the metal cover as you pick?

My dad found a cheap ass Fender Starcaster in the trunk of a car he bought and gave it to me. What should I do to fix it up? I want to keep the body because the glitter is interesting, but I'm willing to change anything else on it.
>>127660030I can see that being the next cargo cult obsession.
picked up the guitar after months of practically no playing, how long until it feels naturally again? Ive been trying to play the intro to this but when i hear back my playing it sounds dogshitthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMqlmMDJxJQ

What's the best and quickest way to learn the fretboard?Like specific notes, octaves for each of those notes etc
>when a female youtuber plays better than you
almost there
>>127660215practice major scale in two octaves in every key
Hudson Bay Company---https://voca.ro/1gkP3aKcX70t
>>127659768You have your answer then. You're developing your own style, training wheels are coming off
>>127660410What do you mean in two octaves in every key?
>>127660542I dont think this is for you bro.
>>127660542https://youtube.com/shorts/lLGNdvbP0G4?si=_yWlJv-J9ThVkKSHsorry guess i should have said 3 octaves. just do this for every note. you can use the circles of fourths or fifths to pick a new starting note if just moving up a half step every time isn't very interesting
>>127657139I know, I was half asleep when I read your post and misread it
>>127660542Try CAGED
>>127660639No need to be rude>>127660643>>127660653Thank you.
>>127660653caged is a good system but i dont think it really comes together until you learn your intervals
I want to learn how to shred like a fucking retard, like those guys in the 80s with big gay hair
>>127660679keep in mind you asked how to learn the fretboard. it's a very generic and tedious exercise for a very tedious and generic skill like learning the fretboard. if it gets boring just take a break and move on to something else. once you figure out what you want to do with to fretboard then you can really dial in visualizing and hearing it. most if not all genres of music can be boiled down into a couple of scale patterns and chord progressions, and a lot of players we consider great are really just specialists at certain styles of music. very few people know how to do and play everything on the guitar really well and most of the time they aren't known for making good music. it's just the way it is
>>127660703Just be yourself, your already half way their.
https://vocaroo.com/1arkNdXNAgDq
>>127660679also if you want to double the effectiveness of the scale practice sing the interval you are playing out loud as close as you can to the pitch of it. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc
>>127657087>I'm basically a human jukebox that plays covers>Learn Around The World by RHCPthat's the opposite of what he was asking, lmao

>>127660821Thanks. Line 6 catalyst amp >>127660828Just an improv over youtube backing track.
>>127660456I think you could've done with authentic percussion. The artificial stuff is distracting from the song itself. Hell, maybe drums isn't what you need. Find things around the house that accomplish the sound.
is 25.5 inches a meme for 7 strings? how come they make even high scale 2000+ dollar ibanez in 25.5" if they can't be tuned down at all from B standard?
>>127660897>25.5 inches a meme for 7 stringsisn't that going to be floppy as shit? I'd stay away
>>127660999idk mani want to try a 7 string 4fun but i'm stuck coinflipping coinflipping between RGA742 and RGMS7 which are the same price
>>127661029idk that much about 7 strings but I already find drop C on a 24.75 unplayable without going to retard hulk strings, I couldn't imagine a whole extra low string on 0.75" more scale length being any better
you guys ever use this or the stringjoy version? i want my strings clean but i dont want them slick. i dont like elixirs
>>127660881Thanks for listening. I think the bass is a bit too loud. And more reverb on the drums maybe. Might add piano, and violin.
>>127660897I have a Jackson Dinky tuned to B. No problem at all with 13s or 14s. Many doom or stoner bands play that tuning or at least C with even shorter Gibsons.
>>127661385I play in C standard on 24.75 scale, it's fine.

>>127661795You traded all that versatility for a bridge humbucker no tone knob...
>>127662049No one uses the middle or neck pickup on a strat.
>>127662106The neck pickup is the most common Strat sound, what are you on about?
>>127662113Bollocks.Everyone uses the bridge pickup.
