Idk if it's my ears but in 90% of guitar focused music I can't even hear the bass. I know it's there because obviously, but I can't hear it, the guitars are turned way up unless it's Feel Good Inc or Another ones bites
Strange because stuff like this is really cool and inspiring and I have no doubt the bassists are as talented as the guitarists

(((TONEWOOD))) is fucking BUSTED bros
I know /gg/ knows this but I swapped an EMG set from one of my guitars to another and the new guitar sounds the same as the older one they were in, my amp and pedal settings all carried over just right. I always kinda suspected it was a meme just based on how pickups work but thought maybe there was some merit to how the wood causes the strings to vibrate and then get picked up but bros it's the fucking same tone

Best way to throw money away. Just buy used stuff. Yamaha is a good direction to look in though. Also, buy used.
>>
>>127782855
Got a new Jazzmaster. Tried to intonate it and now the low e string always detunes by a quarter step within seconds after a few minutes. It stayed in tune before. I have no idea what's happening here. It's my first guitar with locking tuners. Maybe that's the reason somehow.
>>
is it time to make my gibson "good enough?"
>>
>>127783931
I bought one 10 years ago. It was a bundle with a Fender strap, a bag, some plectrums and a clipping tuner. Pretty sure i payed 129€ for it back in the days.
>>
>>127784978
yes
>>
>>127783931
fender acoustics aren't really at the same level as their electrics. their entry level fenders are the same price as many of their squier acoustics, and their higher end acoustics are about as good as an upper midrange yamaha.
really kinda weird as squier is one of the best value propositions for electrics but not so much squier acoustics or electrics. $200 seems about a fair price, but I would have personally got a used yamaha
>>
>>127784948
Sounds like a tuning machine issue, yeah.
>>
>>127784948
Is the vibrato properly set up? Is the floating bridge centered in the posts when your tuning and setting up or are you adjusting the guitar with the bridge too far forward or too far back?
>jazzmaster
>locking tuners
Why’d you get a JM if you’re going to do gay modern stuff to it? Don’t you know Leo (pbuh) got it right the first time with every single thing he ever made?
>>
>>127784948
unlock the tuner and look at where it is clamping at the string. what the other anon said is probably more likely (slipping tuner) but there also is a chance you clamped too hard with not enough wraps so the locking tuner is stripping the windings from the string.
also potential you are using a string gauge that the nut or bridge are not cut for, so it is binding (unless the tuning is slipping without playing).

>>127785048
Probably. Gonna check it tomorrow.
>>127785096
It still has the factory strings (9s) on it. They have no wrappings at all. Isn't that the point of locking tuners anyway?
>>

>>
>>127785182
I already have a modeller that has the MK IIc+
>>
>>127785193
The low e. What's bothering me is that it worked before and only started to detune after intonating. I tuned it up so often now that there should be no string in the tuner anymore if it was actually slipping out of it a bit continuously.
Probaly going to restring it although the current set is still fine.
>>
>>127785350
how do the windings look on the exit of the tuning post (other side)?
>>
>>127785202
model some pickups too I guess
>>
>>127785373
All the other strings look the same.
>>
>>127785350
yeah that break angle is complete dogshit. i'm surprised that string does anything. get another string and get two wraps on the post
>>
>>127785448
It's probably not slipping at that angle but it certainly could be I guess. Just swap it back and forth with a different tuner and see if the issue follows.
>>
>>127785350
is it new strings? They gotta stretch for a while before they settle in.
That or maybe you need a bit more string wound on the peg or something.
>>
>>127785171
yeah that's the point but they usually design them so that they have proper break angle without post windings. what brand/set of locking tuner did you get?
>>
>>127785480
Gonna check tomorrow as i'm going to sleep.
>>127785491
Still factory string so they shouldn't be brand new. I still stretched a bit ans hand and with the tremolo.
>>127785533

Fender as informative as always. There's also no brand name on the tuners itself. Some guy in a video said Gotoh tuners iirc.

My replacement switch arrived and I decided to create a schematic to document how it looked before in case I mess up.

Is it normal to have 2 capacitors? I checked some wiring diagrams and they all mention just 1 capacitor, but mine has 2. While I am aware of the fact that it's wrong to work on this without knowing anything about electronics, I am still too lazy to learn it just for this. I just hope it works.

Either way, here's neat software which makes drawing these schematics easy:

>>
>>127785820
yes. when i had my first parts guitar built the schematic i found only had one cap. the luthier setting it up was used to seeing them with two caps and put two in there for me. it still sounded great. that was several years ago and i play acoustic now so i never bothered to learn how tone circuits work so i can't really explain anything

Is ESP losing market? A bunch of their lines have disappeared. Grassroots is disappearing, Black Metal series, ST series, H series, famous players like Head, the guy from Gojira, Andy James etc. etc. no longer endorse ESP. Tons of improved features over Gibson on Eclipse series are lost.

TL;DR Go get a hearing test for self assurance.

Doesn't hurt to go get your ears checked bud. Seriously, not bugging here...Your ears change over time. I know, I ended up losing my hearing in one ear for a whole year and now have permanent tinnitus in it though I did regain my hearing but it's now a slight bit diminished and now I have to deal with constant tinnitus too. But luckily I can still hear at all with it. Super thankful for that.

Tone of a guitar is basically the pickups, the placement of the pickup (reason why neck and bridge positions will sound different on same pickups) and string brand/gauge. Even different strings don't make that huge of a difference.

No. You actually need to learn how to read musical notation. There isn't tab in guitar. And now double it with both hands so you need to read notes on both staves simultaneously. Better begin to learn how to read musical notation for guitar. Then maybe it will be possible on keyboard. Musical theory will be the same within reason but they go into much greater detail.

Being able to play an acoustic guitar anywhere you want, anytime you want, is why you need one.
It's why the guitar is cooler than any instrument. It's polyphonic and it's portable. There are many portable instruments out there, but they're not polyphonic. They have limited keys or sounds like harmonicas and flutes. While polyphonic instruments like the piano aren't portable.

A plain mic'ed acoustic sounds better than anything to this day. The expensive acoustic systems also have soundhole mics blending with the saddle piezo, but still not as good as a real mic. It's about as good as it gets for a compact system though.

That soundtrack sounds cool - I am actually using the nylon to sketch out songs for commercial licensing. Every guitar effect can be swapped in for another instrument (like Bartok or Villa-Lobos)

I'm learning to play the keyboard currently and it was difficult. Sure, being familiar with some music theory and concepts helps, but not much. After all, it's a new instrument.

What I found more difficult is this >>127787489 for example. It also forces you to learn theory. On guitar, you can just learn some barre shapes and the 6th and 5th string notes and you're set. You can play every chord out there. On the piano, you actually need to know the notes which make up the chords. There are no shapes, you need to actively think about everything. For me, that makes it more difficult.

One positive thing is that you can apply all that new knowledge on guitar as well. Perhaps it's a coincidence, but I have also started to expand my theory knowledge on guitar as well. Not just from applying the piano knowledge, but also actively learning "guitar" knowledge.

Went to a drive in movie theater by myself earlier this evening. It was a triple showing. Operation Dumbo Drop, Rock the Casbah, featuring Bill Murray, and the night-cap, was Mortdecai. The sunset cast a purple glow in the foggy haze, and the rolling hills, ghostlike emerald shards of the din... All the films were (quite simply), sublime. I started my Iroc-Z, and accelerated onto the dark roadway. The neon fast food signs smearing through the rain covered foggy glass... A tapestry of modernity. And not only that... He pulled into a burger king. He ordered three triple whoopers, large fry, two (2) mozzeralla sticks. 3 apple pies. And he Gorged himself like a wild beast of yore. And he felt hunger without fullness. And he eased back onto the highway, fueled up and ready to rock. He pulled into the venue. This gig was a retirement home kind of show. They kept calling out for soup after songs, and I thought they didn't think it was heavy enough. And without my Rat pedal, I wouldn't of made it, lads... Rightly so, if that's alright with you...

The screwhole of the switch are looser than the ones on my control plate. The original screws aren't gripping and the new screws are too wide and don't fit. I don't have the tools to widen the ones on the control plate.

I fucking hate this. I disassembled the guitar, the old switch isn't in place and I can't play the guitar until I buy the new parts. Why does this always happen? How is one supposed to prepare himself? Every modification that I have done had this same experience.

Everyone says "mod cheap budget guitars". Most of those are "overseas".

I can't even find a Tele control plate with the dimensions that mine has. Mine is 30mm wide, but most of them are 32mm onwards. It won't fit with the pickguard in place. I paid 120€ for this pickguard (fucking crazy when I think about it now) and I have no proper tools to tweak it. The old switch is broken and there's no way to go back now. It's such a depressing feeling knowing you can't play your guitar.

The only thing I will replace on guitars from now on are the strings.

I like the maple neck but I'm curious how heavy they'll be overall. The description says mahogany body with a 3 piece maple top, so I'm guessing they're not doing pancake bodies. The usual suspects will pick one up but I doubt they'll win over new players with a 12lb guitar (if they go that route). At the very least its a lp custom for a $1k discount, which is still overpriced but much more alluring than $5k. I'm interested to see what used prices will look like a year from now.

>>
>>127793919
>>127793950
There's obviously dsp in the fx loop. Since the voice knob is emulating amps, there's secret solid state or dsp sauce on that channel also.

You can run a modeling pedal into any other amp and accomplish similar results.

Fender did some VM vintage modified amps before this. The build quality inside was anxiety inducing. They couldn't offer decent solid state or tube tones.
>>
>>127795418
You should have longer cables for the guitar to amp connects (be it the input or loops). Or pedalboard to amp. 18 feet is kind of the limit before there's a degraded signal (although whether you notice it will vary on pickups and whatever buffering you have going on). 10 is fine for most people too.

I don't think it's supposed to be the same type of modeling is it? Afaik the amp modeling is all a clever SS circuit. But the effects are digital.

I blame unmanaged dental infections. He was challenging his body chemistry every step of the way. High sugar, homemade alcohol, unclean food and environment. His kidneys, liver, pancreas, immune system, circulatory system were under constant pressure.

Darf and Alex were the only agreeable characters in his social circle. Everyone else was self serving and terrible. His Wendy's job and any reason to leave the house were at least slowing down his self destruction.

Sepsis kills people quickly. Not complying with medication, visible body changes, poor physical mobility are general signs of progressing mortality.

yeah, NuTubes, they used vacuum fluorescent displays as triodes instead of normal vacuum tubes, so it still technically was analog although a different kind altogether.
Vox made a few amps with them, and then nothing else ever became of them beyond a few odd chinese audiophile meme headphone amps.

Got any good solid states to build? Beta lead would be fun but it is a lot of crap.

Teeth are huge yeah, in terms of basic quality of life (no pain in eating) bacterial infection, and brain health (dental bacteria does make it to your brain, please floss everyone).
But I'd say all the symptoms you described are just as attributable to unmanaged alcoholism as sepsis. His ultimate cause of death was almost without a doubt acute alcohol poisoning (died in sleep after vomiting, pale blue face from asphyxiation).
but you could easily argue that his low quality of life due to his teeth rotting out of his skull ultimately caused him to drink more, which fed back into the cycle of poor dental hygiene (particularly with the sugary mixers) and vomiting destroying his teeth further.

Vox is still making fake amp sim pedals with these no?
It's kind of telling that the valvetronix combos still use an actual pre-amp tube and not the nutubes fwiw, but the pedals with the waveform on the display are pretty cool desu.

Fake isn't exactly how I would describe them, as it still is an analog tube. Just not the standard thermionic (although VFDs are still thermionic in principle using a hot cathode)

It’s not AI bro but thanks for the compliment. It’s in the same tuning from the tune I did before (DADFAC tuning)

lmao, I was actually thinking of the Roland fake tube in the blues cube when I erroneously guessed it was Korg
I didn't even realize Korg had done this, seems pretty cool

Thanks man. I want to release an album of these that I compiled - I did 150 of them in a van out in the desert. They’re like vignettes. Some are technical, some are mood-based or extended techniques.

The best way to play the chord is to play it so those embellishments can be right under your fingers.
>>
>>127796569
Also using the ring finger goes in line with the general "one finger per fret" common wisdom, which is not a stretch.
>>
>>127796313
Hate to be a boomer, but won't they have different sound characteristics than 8-pin tubes then, if it's a triode?
I remember reading at some point that tubes tend to sound good because they minorly boost the 3rd and 5th harmonics in playing, whereas SS usually accidentally boost 7th/8th
>>
>>127796569
You are simply wrong. You think you are a better player than you are and that is why you will never be good. Why would anyone put there hand in a less efficient position so they could potentially in an alternate reality play something they don't intend to play in this reality. If someone's intention is to play an embellishment only then should they make a shape to facilitate that.

No, I'm right that Index and Ring is the way to go for most people playing an A shape Barre Chord in most circumstances. You've got your head up your ass that there's only one right way because apparently Index and Ring is too hard.

Most people (your own words). Simple question. Are most ppl pros? I don't have a job bruv I do do this 8-10 hrs a day 7 days a week. I know what I'm talking about. You clearly don't if you are arguing those that play a ridiculous amount of hours fill those hours with unneccessary hand movements when not needed.
