Fuck me I just spent 2 hours cooking chicken Marsala with homemade mashed potatoes and locally farmed broccoli and I can’t eat it because the cooking wine I found in the regular grocery section is 14% alcohol and I’m a recovering alcoholic. In March 1968, during a Grateful Dead concert run at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco, Jerry Garcia pushed bassist Phil Lesh down a flight of stairs backstage after becoming upset with Lesh's playing during a performance. The incident occurred on the weekend of Lesh's 28th birthday, specifically after one of the shows on March 15–17, 1968. Lesh later recounted in his memoir, Searching For The Sound, that he had been emotionally affected by the recent death of friend Neal Cassady and had momentarily stopped playing during a jam, entering a state of mental disorientation. Garcia, reportedly enraged and high, grabbed Lesh by the collar, shouted, “You play, motherfucker!” and shoved him, causing Lesh to fall down the stairs. Lesh described the moment as shocking, given Garcia’s typically gentle demeanor.Garcia later confirmed the incident in a 1974 interview included in the Grateful Dead Movie, admitting he had been so upset with the band’s performance that he “flipped out” and physically manhandled Lesh.
alcoholism is a disease, but if you ask me, it's the best one.
>>128314504>>128314506There’s a cup of wine in the sauce and I simmered it for about 15 minutes which according to Google burned off at most 50% of the alcohol. 7% alcohol is still enough to put be back in withdrawals as I just got off booze again last month. Don’t want to risk it. It’s fine my mom ate it and said it was good. She’ll freeze it and have it for dinner one night when my sister comes next month. I’ll make some chicken tendies when I get home from door dashing and have some of the potatoes. All good in the hood mainly pissed they sell actual wine on the grocery shelf in the baking section.

ive been practising on a cheap 15 watt HB tube amp and now i want to start adding some gain and fuzz, plus some delay and other effect options. im a homosexual and a snowflake, and therefore i like the look of boutique pedals so ive been thinking of getting the wampler tumnus deluxe and the cryptid fuzz (apparently has a lot of options for different fuzz tones). then a zoom MS-70CDR+ for effects like delay and chorus and more reverb options. im wondering if that's gonna be enough for gainy metal tones, since the amp can already do some mid-level gain, or do i need a rat or something? could get a HB rat clone for like 20€ in case everything else fails.

I recommend dropping down to 30-40 bpm and practicing your quintuplets and sextuplets. it’s equally as hard to play it slow but you subdivide them more accurately
>>128318905you sound like a shitty band if your lead guitar player is strictly playing 1/8th notes for a guitar solo.he should probably be doing the 16th notes and not you.
>>128318699>>128318709It's a pretty standard upgrade to replace the trem with an avri, but not needed for it to stay in tune if you aren't reguarly using the trem.
>>128318923I didn’t ask him to play that lol
>>128318861also you might even try to think of that as cut time. where beats one and two would equal an entire bar. the sextuplets would kind of become 16th notes. kind of hard to wrap your head around initially but it really helps for triplets imo
my electric guitar broke and before i fix it i want to use it as an excuse to buy a new onethe one i have is Cort X-5, i'm a noob and don't know shit about guitars, any recommendations for something around $500?is it ok to buy used guitars? is it better to buy used from shops than individual people? what should i look for when buying used?or is it better to jest buy a fresh one?
>>128318861okay I just looked this up and it’s in 12/8 (should have been written on the staff). for this I would think of every beat as a triplet and every part where it is doubled just double that piece of the triplet. that makes sense now that I look at it. just practice it that way until you have the speed to do it. the rakes are easy but playing the triad on those 3 beats will take some work. could maybe hammer on but that sounds different

>>128321218>that’s cheaper than they go for on the used market.Exactly. It might take a few days but they'll toss you an offer for sure. They're also pretty good about showing pics of the actual damage/qc issues on the individual listing that had it relegated to the demo shop to begin with.

Considering possibly using my account credit, seeing if they can go any lower, and putting a deposit / layaway on it until I have the rest. Shouldn’t take more than a week. A 60s standard bourbon burst is what I originally intended to buy before my car fucked me and anything else was coping.

>>128321297just buy a Telecaster brother, that will end your search for the perfect guitar. The Telecaster does Les Paul tones better than Les Pauls (Led Zeppelin 1 is my only example, no I won’t find any more examples).

Trying to decide whether I should learn the keyboard parts on guitar for a song I like, if I am to play it alone, and constantly switch between guitar parts and keyboard parts while I sing. Also, I haven't changed the strings since I bought the axe in March.
>>128321372That sounds really annoying but whatever you want to do
>>128321372If it were me I’d track them and play it as a backing track. I doubt anyone will care that the keys aren’t live. That’s
>>128321393Are you ok????
bend. every. note.
Good morning GG. Time to practice
>>128321402I was going to say that’s what I would do if I played a song like jump live without a keyboardist but it auto posted before I finished typing.
Why not hire a keyboardist to do everything that isn't drums
>>128321501They do drums too
>>128321443I was talking about playing alone for me. My equipment is a katana the size of a lunchbox.
Why do people like Dunlop Tortex picks? I’ve used regular Dunlop nylon picks for a long time and just got some Tortex to try out and they make the guitar sound much less bright and less snappy.
>>128321537they're the "default" choice I guess, most people really just keep using whatever they started with and got used to, I'm more of an ultex guy
>>128321537I just have always preferred them. I like how they feel, they're easy to hold onto when my hand is sweaty, and I get decent mileage out of them before they need to be tossed.
Thinking about buying a lap steel. There’s an old Fender one from the late 50s in good shape locally for a good price and I want to give lap steel a shot. Getting used to a new tuning will take some time but they’re commonly tuned to open G and I’ve got years under my belt playing guitar in open D so a lot of that should transfer over with some practice and once things begin to click.
>>128315609This guy writes the most generic rock music ever its actually impressive how bland it is
>>128319736>https://voca.ro/1juCGRujnLJKthis sounds like complete shit and has been done 10000 timeskys
>>128321522They can, but the drums are a little unique in how you need that acoustic power on stage, which is why edrums haven't completely replaced them. Keyboardist can have bass and synths going live while still playing an actual piano part which is more than enough to hire them.
>>128319736This is awesome, sounds like the white Tele is at work.
>>128321731Gonna be honest though, I have not a single clue what was being said.
>>128321331The symbol of the waves of the river. It is very powerful. That guitar has earned the right to display the symbol from the otter god, who controls the holy rivers.
What is the best excersise for string skipping?I've tried this and it's too hard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ8DQwd4E-Iat 84bmp I already miss half of them, at 108 I can't hit anythingIs it even useful? When strings go one by one I can probably do something like this, but when I have to skip it's a mess
>>128320346I’ve only ever seen guitarists complain about bassists but guitarists are the least knowledgeable and technically sound members of the band typically
>>128319736too much drive, too muddy, too repetitive and not groovy imo
there's a lot of bassist on bassist violence desu. alot of the youtubers/forums/etc have a palpable level of friendly fire and what almost seems like disdain for the instrument at times.
>>128322510can we see some examples
>>128319736>you'd probably put 1000 fucking notes in a 2 second gap after the singer sings>*proceeds to give them singer no space at all*
>>128322457I’d like to see you play complex rhythms and leads on the same instrument faggot. Bassists and drummers have it easy. Guitarists have to basically play piano on a strings. I should know, I play drums and bass as well.
1/2 a cup left.
>>128322525nah i left all that behind. guitarists can have ego problems too but at least they wear it on their sleeve, makes it easy to know what you can expect.
>>128322510I really see/hear that in local scenes. I always want to be better than my drummers other bassists.
>>128322561I can crosspick wildwood flower. just because you can play twinkle little star doesn’t make you a qualified expert on another instrument.
>>128322572Guitarists are generally the primary songwriters so it’s natural for them to be more particular and demanding. Not necessarily ego centric, but we know how we want the song to sound. Look what happened when hetfield started letting Kirk and rob contribute more to writing.
damnrip
>>128322600I play rush and tool on drums and can play anything on bass, finger style, slap, pick, etc. I’m a competent musician all around but my main instrument is guitar.

>>128321930Paul Gilbert uses a lot of string skipping licks. Also check out Troy Grady and Anton Oparin. You've got to figure out the mechanics before spending hours on exercises as you might end up with inefficient technique that is deleterious in the long run.

If you play metal or rock, your opinion on music isn’t credible.

>>128322789You can always stick with what works for you and see how well that works out. Without a competent teacher to see what you're actually doing wrong you've got no choice but to figure out which approach of the myriads available will get you the results you need. Sometimes the problem is the approach, sometimes it's really a matter of the student not quite ready to tackle specific technique or phrase due to having issues in seemingly unrelated areas or holes in other minutia - wide unnecessary movements on either or both hands, weird pick angle, tension.. the list is endless. But such is the struggle with being self taught, that's why some people get stuck in a plateau for years cause they don't know what they're doing wrong.TLDR to git gud at this you've got to be an autist or get a teacher.

>>128322644I didn’t say that’s all I play I meant I can play it. As in some of the most technical drumming. But go ahead Mr multi instrumentalist explain how bass or drums are more complex instruments.
>>128322891This is bait
>>128323191I’m going to let you figure it out on your own because you’re arrogant and I’d rather see you fail.
how do i play like Josh Homme
Fender
Gibby
Femder
>>128323475
>>128323310Saying one instrument is more complex than another is not arrogance bro. I concede that piano and horns are more complex than guitar in many ways. I’m just saying that out of the instruments in a 4 piece rock band guitar is the most challenging and difficult to master. And I base this off of my own lived experience playing all of them at either an advanced or professional level.
Drums are a completely different skill set than guitar bass or vocals, how do you even compare which is harder?
>>128320746I own all of them and feel no difference. Fuck high notes.
>>128313978Wait Fender bought G&L?
>>128323718I don’t think one is harder than the other but it takes a certain kind of person to play either. Some people are good at both. However, improvising and writing drums is far easier than guitar and it’s not integral to the melody of the song. The thing that makes guitar more complex than bass or drums is the fact that you have to keep the rhythm and drive the melody at the same time.

Rumour on the street is Taylor has been writing some doom metal songs. Apparently her and the band have already performed at private performances.
