Scotty West appeals from his conviction, on his guilty pleas, of two counts of
sexual battery in violation of R.C. 2907.03(A)(9), felonies of the third degree; one count
of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles in violation of R.C. 2907.31, a felony of the
fifth degree; and one count of illegal use of a minor in a nudity-oriented material or
performance in violation of R.C. 2907.323(A)(5), also a felony of the fifth degree. The
court sentenced West to 60 months each on the sexual batteries and to 12 months each
on disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented
material, all to be served concurrently. The court also designated West a Tier III sex
offender with a lifetime registration requirement every 90 days for the sexual batteries
and designated him a Tier I sex offender with a duty to register annually for 15 years for
illegal use of a minor in a nudity-oriented material. We will affirm the judgment of the trial
court.

The new oranges are just one pcb that's easy to drop in and remove. It's the kind of amp that smokes a fuse, or a screen resistor, or the plastic input jacks break.
>>
>>129271309
From what the tech told me he thinks it was a power tube that blew which means the fuses would be blown, which is why the amp won't turn on. Gonna take a look at the capacitors too, he said they use cheap capacitors in these things to save literal pennies and they have a short lifespan.

two channels, effects loop, amp reverb, and the dirty channel has more of a psychedelic fuzzy sound out of the box than other amps i've played. it's definitely opinionated with how it sounds and leaning into that gives better results than fighting it. i really like it with the strat, it's middy and adds that chewiness you don't get out of a fender amp

you've gotta learn to separate developing an idea and performing. when you're practicing to yourself it's fine to take a little time and play around with an idea, but it's annoying as hell for someone else to listen to. it's also really hard to get out of that habit if you never practice as if someone is listening to you

they're both guitars. the same guitar, in fact. I'm still trying to figure it out alright. the first guitar sounds far away because for some reason the amp effect wasn't being applied to it and it was just raw output being recorded and I don't know why that happened. yes it is a digital amp, so if that's what it sounds like then good that's what I'm going for. also how do I make better sounding music?

how do i learn to actually play songs using chord sheets or by improvising? i have literally done nothing but play tabs and noodle since i started playing the instrument and at this point i feel like i have some kind of mental condition since i do not actually know how to pick up a guitar and play something without having a tab in front of me.
i know nothing about music theory, have not memorized the notes of the fretboard, and cannot read sheet music either

You gotta learn things in order of importance. If you're some savant virtuoso genius you can absorb 2, 3 and technique by virtue of having a very strong 1
1. Playing by ear: what you hear in the song and repeat it, what you hear in your head and express it
2. Know your fretboard - note names, scale patterns, chord patterns, arpeggios
3. Theory - what to play over what chord/what progression

For improvisation, if you must learn anything at all it's by playing stuff by ear. Copy then regurgitate/recreate then modify. Eventually you'll improvise stuff that is an amalgamation of all the stuff you ever learned (or even failed to learn and execute, making you sound uniquely like you)

>gx_head_amp
the digital amplifier with no post processing effects
>gx_head_fx
a digital cabinet alongside whatever post processing effects you throw on top like a flanger or wah wah. it's all simulated though. the program I use is called guitarix, it's free.
>ardour
the DAW I use, it takes inputs from both the guitar and mic, and I pass the digital amp to the program so it'll pick that up as well.
>Midi-Bridge
not exactly sure, I think both the digital amp and the DAW can take a midi plugin so you can produce midi sounds, currently it's set up to plug directly in to ardour but I'm not actually using it.
>HD USB audio device: playback_FL
>HD USB audio device: playback_FR
the output jack on the audio interface (front left and front right), it's plugged directly into the digital amp so I can monitor the sound the instrument is producing, and it's plugged into the DAW so I can hear playback from whatever I've recorded.

I still don't understand everything but that's basically how it's set up right now. I might have to unplug fucking everything and figure out how what exactly every connection is doing because I'll be fucked if I know what the DAW is doing entirely.
>>
>>129273691
>all of that to then hit record
get an audio interface(focusrite/behringer) and hit record in whatever DAW you have mate
>>
What are the effects being used on this guitar in the right ear from 0:24 onward? Obviously delay, and I was thinking some kind of phaser or wah but I can't get anything to sound that way. Maybe it's just a synth being layered over

yeah it's what I'm doing, that is a visual representation of how the thing connects from the interface to the DAW, and I'm just taking the extra step to connect a digital amp because I don't want to use an actual amp. I can blast my eardrums into oblivion without being connected to anything but the headphones into my computer. it really looks more complicated than it is.

If you watch him play live it's very apparent that he cannot play nearly as fast or accurate as he does in his meme videos. He could still be playing it, but he could also be doing layering and editing tricks to make his playing more impressive than it actually is. To me it's pretty dishonest
>>
>>129274118
Unc people edit their clips. And by people I mean 90% of instagram. He can play somewhat competently but instead of showing that he stitches a hundred takes and aggressively noise gates, sustains notes unnaturally and compresses to the point where on video he flicks a string lightly and it's strummed loudly.
>>
>>129273605
I'm so glad people are exposing this zoomer fraud for what he is. He gave normalfags this impression that being a "Guitar God" meant doing soulless mathrock solos sterile tones. He probably did real damage to rock as a genre, so fuck him
>>
>>129274141
>>129274146
that kind of dishonesty never ends well and people will call you a fraud even if you can play some rendition of what's seen in your videos. hell, isn't the entire point of a live performance to showcase to everyone that you CAN actually play? might as well just start from the premise that people don't want to buy into the idea that you're a virtuoso if you're actually not.

dude must be so incredibly self conscious about himself that he can't bear to be seen without the pretense of being seen as a genius or some shit.

trying to learn lead guitar -- its been a massive gap in my skill set for years. i can mindless noodle around in shape 2 pentatonic for a while and sometimes find something interesting but its mostly repetitive, reused variations on the same riff and I have no idea what I'm doing just that it sounds off. Is there a resource to start learning this? I enjoy melodic riffs and melodic soloing...not necessarily shredding but like mid 2000s Thrice, power metal like Stratovarius, Futures era Jimmy Eat World, Dredg, Deftones, etc. I don't know where to start but trying to break out of that 'blues' sound I learned.

Sounds like what you said and also the other anon, kinda reminds me of a sample and hold sound. I remember a bunch of digital delay effects on multieffects or in daws that were like that sound, check out presets on the dl4 and maybe whatever Mike Einzinger was using on 90s/early 00s Incubus

Could just be a bunch of delay and phaser sweep

I find that listening to music in a long block session really programs the mind with ideas at least for me, I hear a lot of songs or passages and my brain completes them with different notes than whats actually played in that variation you get something new, it takes time to absorb the sound and to express it subconsciously through your fingers thats why you do scales and shapes and don't be afraid to play around

If you like book learnin' I recommend Soloing Strategies for Guitar by Tom Kolb and Chord Tone Soloing by Barret Tagliarino.
Soloing Strategies gets right into it starting with pentatonics and variations then major/minor and modes etc. It's like a quick start guide that will give you something to work with right away.
Chord Tone Soloing teaches you the theory you need from the ground up. It's serious shit. Keys, scales, chord progressions, arpeggios it's all here. Prepare to spend months/years. I've been working out of a chapter near the end of the book for six months at least and will continue doing the exercises for the rest of my playing life. It's arpeggios in time in one position with a backing track switching to the closest note in the next chord's arpeggio. It's insanely fucking hard and infinitely scalable.

Barring that and or in addition to, learn major and minor over the whole neck, learn solos you like BY EAR (it just takes practice like anything else, you can do it) and practice improv daily. Steal licks, mutate them into your own, compose your own. and play play play. and record yourself. and and and
You can do it.

Keep it simple, don’t go crazy on the pedals. Keep your modulation to one at a time and use it sparingly (I only use my chorus here and there, it’s not an “always on” pedal), get something like a blues driver or a ts9 turned down for your crunch, and something on top of it like a Super Overdrive to boost it for your actual dirt, since presumably you’ll be playing at reasonable enough volumes that the bassman will need some help breaking up (I play a 50w tube amp and this is the case for me). Finally something like a compressor can be helpful to add sustain in any solos or lead riffs that need that bit extra.
Pedals should be used sparingly. Find 3 or 4 you like and stop there.

>>
Incidentally I hate the A shape scale because it stands out as the only one where you can't get a nice evenly repeating pattern with quarter, 8th, 16th, or 32nd notes without making the patten on either the high e string or low E string asymmetrical. I find 3nps shapes similarly annoying in that you can't play all the way up and down the shapes and have them fit nice and evenly in the bars so you can cycle it over and over again and always start on '1.' (Without doing some fuckery like only playing 2 notes on the high e string.)

>bassman will need some help breaking up (I play a 50w tube amp and this is the case for me)
There is no point to playing a 50w tube amp if you're not even getting close to amp breakup. If all of your dirt is coming from pedals and your tubes aren't overdriving, your tube amp is doing literally nothing but acting as an expensive EQ. If you're gonna buy a 50w amp to play in your bedroom, at least find a way to attenuate it. Otherwise, you should be playing a 0.5 watt amp or something that can go down to that level. Turning down your gain/master is defeating the purpose of using a tube amp.
>>
I'd get an attenuator even for a 20 watt desu, it's just good to have
>>
>>129277759

>There's a reason the biggest audiophiles use tube amps for their record collections.
Audiophiles are retarded and should always be ignored.
Analog amps/tubes objectively degrade your sound. We want it on guitar because the tubes, transformers, and speakers round out transients and the high end for a smoother sound but it's overall a degradation of the signal.
>>
>>129279348
hence the superior tone. it’s music, not a surgical room

leftists can't understand music that makes sense so they're not into metal.
>>
>>129279074
>Tube amps give a far superior clean tone to non-tube amps
The REASON the clean tone is superior is because when people are talking about a "clean" tube amp they are talking about edge of breakup. There is literally no difference between a tube amp and a digital amp sonically if the tubes aren't breaking up. You are not getting that "superior" clean tone when your gain and master are at 2.

>>
>>129279430
dumb take, these kinds of effects can go anywhere. putting it in front of dirt makes it less pronounced, after dirt makes it more pronounced. not everyone is going for chorus to be the final, most pronounced effect on the sound
>>
>>129279746
I think these kinds of exercises do more harm than good. You are training yourself to play scales, not music. Our brains and muscles are really susceptible to training, and will continue to behave in the way that we train it to. Skip the scales and play something musical, or soon you'll find that you can't play anything musical.
>>
>>129279763
that’s true but I think they’re okay for a beginner who still has string and fret accuracy problems. at that level you will likely see faster progress adding in some finger exercise because the level of songs you can play will be quite low
>>
>>129279373
No, it was claimed it was a "far superior tone" when it's objectively not

Audiophiles are retarded because they are introducing more distortion to something for an objectively worse and noisier tone from an analog medium that probably used digital in the production process or cutting vinyl
>>
>>129279810
superior tone, inferior replication. if you want a sterile but accurate signal go direct and use neutral headphones. guarantee it will sound unpleasing to the ears
>>
>>129279763
I do play musical ideas. The chromatic scale is a warmup that takes a fraction of my practice time, and I treat it as an isolated exercise for my fretting hand.
>>
>>129279843
Anon, they used analog equipment to CREATE the sound. When you add additional shit on top of that, you're interfering with what the track is supposed to sound like. If you're going to fuck up the sound with a tube, why not add a distortion on top of it? You're just a kid playing with toys. Obviously we are not meant to add additonal effects and EQ on top of an already-mastered track. It will sound different, and you can tell yourself it sounds better, but that's your own dunning-kruger kicking in thinking you know better than the professionals that mastered the track.
>>
>>129279877
I would argue that they used whatever recording equipment they had available and mixed it with available playback devices in mind (tube amplifiers and record players). no one has a modern record collection
>>
>>129279915
If the original track was mastered specifically to be played on a tube amplifier because of the era, it makes sense to use a period-accurate tube amplifier to play it. However, this is not what anon was saying. He said even if the fidelity is worse, tubes are just objectively better tone. This is retarded.

if you strap your guitar high like the tech nerds you're basically always playing in this position.
I find it quite comfortable even though it can look goofy.

newfag here.
I need a QRD on this guy.
Why does he live in the crack shack?
Why does he post this stuff on a daily basis?
Why drop big cash on pedals but play on a $30 Orange mini?
>>
>>129277345
You pretty much need it if you want to play long stretch voicings, unless you practice in the normal position or have big hands.
>>
>>129280545
not really. everyone says you need to buy a tube screamer to sound like srv and you don’t. he used it mainly as a clean boost
>>
>>129280523
well it’s been banned for something like 40 years now at least. if you want tortoise shell just buy a blue chip that’s why they were designed and sold to begin with to get the feel and sound of tortoise without actually using it

you could post a scientific paper and vocaroos that prove that you can do the Angus sound through 20$ Behringer pedals and /gg/ would just deflect any real facts and just post POORFAG POORFAG. It's kinda pointless trying to adress such topics here when someone like BBA will post the most basic bitch playing yet counter any reply with his expensive gear.

>clean boost
a mid-boost, anon. a fender guitar into a fender amp has no mids. the tubescreamer adds the mids. that's the whole point and the reason the tubescreamer is famous, just because it's a boost that adds mids. a clean boost doesn't do that
>>
>>129280633
just lower the bass and treble and you have boosted mids
>>
>>129280532
every style of guitar music besides jazz uses bends
>>
>>129280644
EQ knobs on an amp are after gain, anon. You'll make the amp sound different but you won't be punching the mid frequencies of your tubes. You don't need a tube screamer, but you do need something that does the same thing. Or just an amp that isn't so scooped.
>>
>>129280646
this
it's like complaining that a trombone uses glissando
it's the entire point of the damn instrument
>>
>>129280646
you can get away with bends in jazz too if your slick
>>
>>129280664
I get your point and you are technically correct but I think close enough is ok considering toan is also in the fingers and he changed his sound and amps frequently throughout his career. either way the argument is inconclusive so in my opinion just go with what suits your needs. a 5w Marshall dsl5cr sounds close enough to a plexi in the right hands

> need a QRD on this guy.
He’s a schizo that sucks at being interesting. He will also gove himself samefag praise
>Why does he live in the crack shack?
It’s his grandmas house
>Why does he post this stuff on a daily basis?
He’s retarded and has no self awareness, also he’s a narcissist that is desperate for attention
>Why drop big cash on pedals but play on a $30 Orange mini?
He’s not going anywhere, he doesn’t play in public, and he gets his money from welfare
>>

bends add a ton of emotion, it has to be the right type of tune. the way ella fitzgerald slides her vowels into the next note, that sort of thing
>>
No bends! No slides! Play the thing correctly.
>>
>>129280695
my point is mostly that it's not about the brand or the snake oil or whatever specific thing someone else used. it's better to understand why they used it and what it was doing technically, and build an understanding of the signal chain and what happens to a guitar signal between the string and your ears. then with that understanding you can buy whatever gear will do what you are looking for. that is a lot more based and interesting than googling "what gear did SRV use", watching a youtube video, and buying whatever they were shilling
>>
>>129280723
I agree and that was also my point. the only reason I brought it up is that I feel like the industry overall does not share the same belief.
>>
>>129280646
I don't like guitars going out of tune so I rarely do more than quarter or half steps
>>
>>129280788
those are boomer bends. if you want to bend it like corgan you're gonna need to do 2-2.5 steps
