the mids are whipped and warm, almost buttery but still articulate nothing flubby, just this chewy, vocal push that sits right in your chest. The highs shimmer and chime, glassy but not icy, like light catching the edge of a bell there when you need sparkle, gone before it cuts. The low end doesn’t boom so much as purr, rounded and polite, holding everything up without drawing attention to itself.
Notes feel elastic under the fingers there’s a soft bloom after the pick attack, then a gentle sag, like the amp is breathing with you. Chords smear together just enough to feel luxurious, but single notes still pop with a little halo of harmonic fuzz. It’s the kind of tone that sounds expensive, even when you play something dumb, and somehow makes you play slower because it feels rude to rush it.

Which model? I've been looking at the Hils hn3 and it's really a good looking guitar. Always thought the headless was silly but now I'm seriously thinking about giving it a shot cause that body shape seems perfect for comfortable playing. Only worry I got about it is the medium frets. Can't find any info to compare it to medium jumbos I'm used to.

abut 0.9mm tall, i'm not too fussy about frets in general, I've never had any problems with them.
Be prepared to do some work on it, mine came with a nut that was cut way to high.

>>129356827
Jury is still out, the strandberg is a recent purchase and my first fan fret, first impressions are good though. frets are noticably bigger than the hils, the neck is weird but in a good way.
I prefer the control setup of the hils, strandberg made some curious choices with regards to coil splitting. I may fiddle with that in the future.
The hils also literally stands on it's own two feet, the strandberg needs a stand.

This is a good tool, but there’s a couple of shorthand memorization tips you’re missing that evaporate when you’re in a different tuning:

1) If the string is the same pitch (E to e), then all the positions are the same. This means that if you want to add a 7th or a ninth, you can use that bass pitch or higher pitch as an axis.

Similarly, using Drop-D gives you harmonic knowledge of the d strings locations.

And in open G (DGDGBD), you’d know where every string is from learning horizontally with the string pairs. Same deal with DADGAD. Find the octave pairs and you can go from there.

2) Think of which intervals are under your fingers in a 1-finger 1-fret posture. Because you can play a major scale without moving your hand, you can see when it is appropriate to shift in the position and return, or shift to a new position depending on where the next notes line up.

3) first finger capo. Using a standard bar chords, you can use CAGED chords as long as you feel the difference. Knowing that on the 8th fret, you have a Cmaj to a G7 simply by imitating the open position E to B7 relationship. You can omit the first finger if you want to use open strings.

In octaves, you dingus.
>unless you’re being serious, then may god have mercy on your soul

The reason why I slime to this conclusion is that all these PATTERNS change as soon as you change key, change chords to anything non-harmonic, shift positions, or try to use the natural harmonics instead:.
>Uhhh B string 4th fret harmonic is uhhhh, uhhhhh,

Instead of that, you can “oh yeah, two octaves above the fretted noted”

Now I gotta sweep up this sarcasm into the trash. Luckily the harem will take it from here…

Haven’t played this Jag in while, I had it in DFA#FAD and it needed some setup to stay in tune in D#. Nothing major, just some bridge height and trem spring adjustment. I’ve slept on this one a bit since getting my much nicer MIJ FSR Jaguar but this Vintera is still pretty great. If I had to recommend a Jag this would be the cheapest one I’d suggest, the player ones are lacking features and QC.

Stick them together. 2 out of 5 should work. Then assign one as a verse, the other a chorus. Add shit and voila. You can (and should) reused motifs from the chorus as an intro or bridge.

Listen to tears for fears “head over heels”. The intro reused as bridge and the outro.

I’m saying your chart is nice but you need to know intervalic relationships. All those numbers shift each time you play a chord - keeping track of whether 7 2 4 6 is a half-diminished arpeggio is too much thinking. What happens when you use harmonic minor (ascending and descending), melodic minor, and especially wandering keys through chromaticism?

There's a lot to unpack here.

Lydian
Ionian
Mixolydian
Dorian
Aeolian
Phrygian
Locrian

You can create a hexatonic scale between all of these modes by omitting the notes that change to make each mode specific.

I just started playing standing up, strumming is really weird, I need to angle the guitar to play up the neck but strumming with a pick angled horizontally is weird, how can I fix this?
>>
>>129362479
Easy fix.

Sit down with the guitar in between your legs. Once you ca play it comfy, set the strap height. stand up and the guitar should not move down. Adjust by an inch or so depending on where the ideal spot is.

Slinging the guitar low is a recipe for disaster and you’ll spend time slinging it in your knee to hit the upper register. It does look cool, so chugging shit gets a pass. But forget about Holdsworth shit.

This also works vice versa, where a high-slung guitar means you have to bend your elbow outward to get the lower register (looking at you, jazz fusion bassists)

I actually do, they sound much better on the Jazzmaster and I’m 99.9% they’re the same pickups on the Mustang 90. I’m not so sure it’s scale, but more relation to where the bridge and trem are between the JM and Mustang. That’s probably a bit far off into the weeds honestly. If I had to pick one it would definitely be the Noventa JM for sure.

I've been getting back into playing guitar, but it's kinda boring or something. I've been playing a lot of keyboard the last few years and that I'm getting back to guitar, especially playing with others in jam sessions and stuff, it's always kinda the same scales and progressions etc. any way to fix this?
>>
>>129366822
>it's always kinda the same scales and progressions
seems like you've answered you own question, play in a different scale the rest or try (tritone)substitutions of expected chords
>>
>>129366822
Alternate tunings. The hand shapes are easier and everything sounds good. You can do “Loser” by Beck in open D (DADF#AD), “Fearless” by Pink Floyd in open G (DGDGBD), or “Friends” by Led Zeppelin in open C (CGCGCE).

Why? It’s easier to sound good consistently, the strings are slacker so you can build callouses easier, and slide guitar is a cinch.
>standard tuning is an alternate tuning…
>>
>>129366855
For the record “Fearless” is actually DGDGBB, but open G is in tons of other songs and mimics banjo tuning
>>
>>129366849
Yeah, I do, but when playing with others 90% of the time they just play blues progressions. You can obviously experiment a bit, but it gets old fast
>>129366855
>>129366871

Alternate tunings free you up. You’d know this if you weren’t a beginner.

Alternate tunings force you to learn new had positions and move intervallic relationships.

Working on this song in guitar pro, have an A and B section with a rhythm guitar, bass and drum part but no melody/lead yet. B section doesn't have as much variation as the A section cause I didnt really work on it as much. Sorry for the shitty midi track but I'd appreciate some feedback, I suck at writing music desu so this is more practice for me. Maybe someone can see if they can help come up with a melody to it or advise me on how to improve it. I don't really play anything but guitar so I just kind of played it by ear for the bass and drums to fill the space.
